Undone Beauty specializes in minimalist makeup for everyone, a bold promise that requires a comprehensive understanding of their customers, from skin tone to brand awareness. Oh 1 Media partnered with Undone Beauty to help improve their customer knowledge by creating a new approach to the brand’s social media campaigns. We started by segmenting customers into tiers based on their purchasing journey and familiarity with Undone Beauty. Then, we energized their social media efforts with unique creative assets tailored to each segment, resulting in an 88% increase in return on ad spend while reducing cost per purchase by 44%. Throughout the project, the largest driver of efficiency was Oh 1’s unique access to Oracle Data Cloud audiences, which target Facebook and Instagram users based on actual purchase data.

castAway
CastAway launched an Indigogo fundraising campaign with a $100,000 goal to help bring their tech product to market. Oh 1 Media was charged with all digital advertising and was able to reach the $100k goal within 24 goals. By the end of the 30-day campaign, $450,000 in fundraising was generated with Facebook and Instagram ads providing a 3.5x return on ad spend.

I’m the director of IT and e-commerce at a merchandising solutions company. I’m also leading a foray into the B2C market, which means we’re trying to sell our products for home use. Our brand underperforms food service technologies, and we specialize in organization for point of purchase.

We’re trying to penetrate the B2C market, and Oh 1 Media has been helping us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Oh 1 Media is doing PPC and SEO. They’ve also researched for us based on our products and the search terms that are relevant to them.

When you partner with someone who is an expert in PPC, it’s a quick turnaround to see how numbers change. We’ve made enormous gains when it comes to accounts and driving meaningful traffic, which we can tell by the conversion metrics.
We’ve increased our traffic up to 20%, and the ACoS has gone down to 10%. These numbers depend on the moment, but we maintain the same budget. Oh 1 Media makes sure that we’re doing the best we can with our ad spend. We’ll be hitting more meaningful users until we drive more results. Our B2B has also gone up by 25%. Their team isn’t completely attributed to that work, but they definitely contribute to it.
How did Oh 1 Media perform from a project management standpoint?
I have no complaints about project management; Oh 1 Media is open to our feedback. Every part of the project is very well-documented and clearly communicated. We communicate through email and Zoom.
If I’m very busy and I have feedback, I can send Oh 1 Media a message or set up a meeting and quickly articulate what I need or want to get done. I’m always sure their team is going to execute the tasks and deliver them in a timely manner, exactly how we lay it out, and get feedback on the direction and collaboration aspects. In addition, if I don’t have more ideas, I know that Oh 1 Media is looking at the day-to-day and making sure that we’re optimizing our campaigns.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It’s very easy to reach out to Oh 1 Media and give them direction on any changes I want to make. I can rest knowing that they will make our changes and that I don’t have to wait. I have the freedom to either be very involved or trust their team's expertise to do what’s right. It has been a great relationship.

I can’t identify anything off the top of my head that Oh 1 Media could be doing differently. They’re great and a very professional organization.

Don’t try to tell Oh 1 Media what to do, but give their team guidance based on your experience and listen to their feedback and suggestions. Digital marketing is their expertise field, and they’re fantastic at it.

I’m the growth marketing lead for Tillable Inc. We’re a startup that helps landowners find farmers to rent the land and we help farmers find land to farm and expand operations.
What challenge were you trying to address with Oh 1 Media?
We had no idea what we were doing with SEO or Google Ads. Our targeted audience is difficult to find online because they’re older. Oh 1 Media helped us establish a foundation on how we’re going to use Google Ads and Facebooks Ads.

They managed about $300,000 in digital ad spend and created a retargeting plan. Whenever people came to our website, we could remarket to those audiences. A lot of it was integrating these third-party resources with our website so we can target our audience. The installed Facebook and Google Pixel and helped set up the creative copy for our ads. They helped with custom audience building; so, we were able to upload our tax database and find people who own farmland instead of using geotargeting. Then they did AB testing.

Their strategy sets them apart. The thinking behind their ads is spot-on. They really got into the business problems that we had and came up with a campaign that suited our needs. Because we were a startup, we needed to find our audience and identify our most valuable customers. They set up an ad test that helped us segment our audience. As a result, we were able to identify which customers were more likely to transact with us. We wouldn’t have been able to do that without their strategy and test.

We communicated through Slack and spoke on the phone many times. Sometimes, we’d email one another as well.

Because I was inexperienced with Facebook, I interviewed 5–10 top-tier social media agencies before I hired Evan. He was willing to compromise what he thought were unrealistic monetary goals on my part.
After our first week, he was humble enough to reevaluate and tell me that I was right in my estimate of expected returns. Evan charges so much less than other agencies but got me even better results than what they were promising.

I think he undervalues his services. He delivered above and beyond what some of the best agencies could promise. In fact, he never promised me anything, he just said he would try.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear about the specific type of wording you want on the ads. Evan himself doesn’t write the ads; he has others do that. So, when you convey information to Evan, who then conveys it to someone else, it’s like a game of telephone. You don’t always get what you want.
Sometimes I’d go in and tweak the ads myself. I rewrite parts of it when it isn’t precisely what I want. But other than that, it was near perfect.
