Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of Quckclass. We create mobile learning solutions for all sorts of training organizations.

What challenge were you trying to address with NumeroEins?

We were looking to build iOS and Android apps for our business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had designs already. We were working together for about five and a half years. When we first worked together, we were working on a Titanium SDK, which is a platform that mostly uses JavaScript. It then creates iOS and Android apps running on the same basic foundation code.

Around two years ago, mainly due to their recommendation, we decided to make a transition to fully native iOS and Android apps. About 2–3 years ago, we also had a major redesign. It was more for aesthetic reasons, and it was done from the ground up.

What is the team composition?

Aside from Manu (CEO, NumeroEins), we’ve also worked with 6–7 developers. 
Manu is our contact point, and he’s great at managing developers (who are great at what they do).

He’s great at managing client relations and helping translate requirements into something that his development team can deliver on. 

How did you come to work with NumeroEins?

We were looking for developers on Freelancer around six years ago. It was between Manu and another company, and both had an interesting track record and proposal for how they’d be helping us. 

I found NumeroEins’s management to be far more approachable, and Manu’s English was excellent. I think he’s spent some time living in Turkey, and he’s pretty worldly. He’s also a small business owner and entrepreneur, so we had a lot of things in common. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested about $50,000 to $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with NumeroEins in May of 2014, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Manu and I try to help each other out, and we’ve created a nice relationship in those years. He did a good job of delivering. Nothing ever goes smoothly when it comes to app development; it’s more about how we smooth out the bumps.
In terms of results, either the apps work well on clients’ devices, or they don’t.

With app development, there’re always going to be tweaks and little ways of improving things. With NumeroEins, there’s always a steady stream of development as we feed through our requests and tweaks.

From a qualitative perspective, their work has been pretty consistent over time. They’ve had some star developers working on our projects, and I hope our relationship will continue for as long as we’re operating in the future. 

They’re reliable, and I can count on them to find decent local talent. Also, because we’re both relatively small, mid-sized businesses, we give each other plenty of attention, and it’s just a good fit from a value perspective as well. We both share the desire to improve things and work better. 

How did NumeroEins perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re constantly on Skype with their developers, but we also have video catchups. If we’re very precise about what we need, then it’s delivered, but that’s the case with most developers. 

We’ve used Mantis Bug Tracker to manage how tasks and exact specifications are completed, and discussions go through there as well. As far as project management goes, things are fed in a piecemeal way to the developers, and it’s up to them to manage their time. We also put a level of urgency on certain tasks, and they’re usually pretty responsive to that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Manu has been a great linchpin holding it all together. He goes out of his way to ensure that the team is on it and delivering. He’s a super approachable and nice person. 

He’s easy to deal with, he has a nice sense of humor, and he’s someone I really enjoy working with. I can rely on him and bring new ideas to him. He’s able to grasp and translate our ideas, and he’s good at overseeing his team and ensuring that our apps are delivered.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not at the moment.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Clients need to be extremely clear in the specifications about the work that needs to be done. The more clarity there is upfront, the better the results we’re going to get are.

NumeroEins is great value in comparison to local UK developers, but they also need more guidance when it comes to delivering exactly what we’re expecting. It’s important to be crystal clear in designs, on what the functionalities should be, and how the features tie together. 

Without clarity, we’re going to run into trouble, but that’s probably true for pretty much any development team.

Our company is an ecumenical digital ambassador avails organizations to brand their digital marketing values in online platforms. Mr. Khalid Sharifi is the progenitor and ecumenical head of the team.
