A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of product for a software startup company, so I handle our product.
What challenge were you trying to address with Nomadcy?
We needed help to build the frontend web interface of our application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Ahead of our engagement with Nomadcy, I did a lot of design and backend development work, as well as API documentation. Thus, we initially handed them our specifications and got a quote back. After negotiating with them, we started the frontend development process.
For the development, Nomadcy has used React and an app called Usera, which is a GraphQL API. Although I’ve done a lot of the backend development work, their team has also helped me with that side.
What is the team composition?
I mainly work with Nick (Founder & CEO), but I’ve also interacted with three developers from Nomadcy.
How did you come to work with Nomadcy?
I had already worked with Nomadcy on another project.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent over $30,000 at this point.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working around September 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s hard to measure frontend development, so we see success in Nomadcy’s work based on what they deliver. They’ve completed the projects we’ve assigned to them, and their deliverables meet our specifications.
How did Nomadcy perform from a project management standpoint?
Nomadcy has done a great job regarding project management. We’ve stayed on budget, and they’ve delivered more than what I’ve asked for within that budget. Although we’ve been a little behind schedule, it is a normal situation in development projects. They mainly use Jira to manage the project, and we communicate via email and Google Meet.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The aspect that has impressed me the most about Nomadcy is their ability to deliver what I ask for. I’ve worked with other software developers, and typically, they deliver their interpretation of what they were required. However, Nomadcy’s team is particularly good at delivering exactly what I ask for, a talent hard to find in the industry.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would be great if Nomadcy improved their scheduling and gave their clients a more granular view of the progress. I’ve worked with them in the past, so I don’t need a detailed view of their process, but it would improve their services to clients who are not as comfortable with them as me.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Dialogue with Nomadcy and bounce ideas back and forth. They’re great at offering advice and discussing ideas to come up with the best solution. If you don’t use them in that capacity, you’re going to miss out on the best part of their services.
