Please describe your company and your position there.
I am owner of ecommerce retailer.
For what projects/services did your company hire NexBit LLC?
I Hired Nexbit in March 2020 to build an ecommerce website for my new business. Nexbit indicated to me that ecommerce is what they specialize in. The total charge for full completion of the website was $7,200.00, all which was to be paid over an estimated 3 month timeframe for full completion of the site. Over the next few months,
I noticed the work produced by Nexbit was sloppy, and in many cases I found it necessary to repeat my requests several times via email. Often "fixes" that were made were not tested by Nexbit and I spent much of my time testing only to find that the same error occurred. Many times tasks would work one day and cease to work another day.
Nexbit claims to be based in Indianapolis but on email communications, I noticed most if not all the work was outsourced to individuals located in India. After 8 months (instead of 3),
I have had to pay another Developer a significant amount of money to provide an audit of the site Nexbit incompletely built, and because Nexbit did not allow me access to the hosting of my site, the new Developer had to build out a completely new site. Nexbit also said the site they provided was WordPress, and it was not.
Nexbit refused to issue even a partial refund for the work they incompletely performed. See below the problems that were identified by the new Developer on the site Nexbit built: Problems on Nexbit built site
- Email configuration does not have a professional/real/correct email address. Managed through hosting(?).
- I could not submit an order without a registered user. No error message was given after entering information multiple times.
- I could not register at first - it went through but did not indicate that to me as the user. No email was received @ any of the email addresses listed - to the business.
- I created a test product, entered a real credit card, registered, and tried to submit - error.
- The email newsletter signup gave me an error.
- The contact form would not submit; kept spinning, no error and no submit.
- FAQ page has a template product graphic on the right and latin text - needs to be filled out
- Copyright said “your store” instead of the company name.
- All forms require approval of the shipping policy which does not make sense for the user.
- The calculator does not function, it takes the user to a blank page.
What were your goals for this project?
I wanted an ecommerce website that worked.
How did you select NexBit LLC?
Found them online and wanted to work with a local company.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
No. I was not able to use the end result of the product Nexbit built. The end result of their product did not work and did not meet the requirement and expectation of the original agreement to provide me with a functioning ecommerce website, and Nexbit refused to refund me the money I paid them for a site I cannot use.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Insufficient. The verbal communication skills of the owner of Nexbit were poor and he was often difficult to understand. The only understandable communications were done through email which made the workflow cumbersome.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Nothing.
NexBit LLC wasn't able to deliver a functional e-commerce website. It was sloppy and the client doesn't have access to the site's hosting. The client paid another developer to provide an audit of the site the team incompletely built.
