Cybersport's popularity was on the rise in Ukraine, the dedicated championships were gathering bigger and bigger audiences with every new event. These tournaments were mainly visited by young people with a higher than average level of income. No company on the market, however, was able to give a credible assessment of the market potential and real magnitude of such events to provide sponsors with a firm basis for the boost of investments in cybersport.
We had to evaluate the total addressable market for the cybersport events in Ukraine. Gather data from multiple sources to provide potential sponsors with information on the reach of the ad campaign the level of engagement, sociodemographic characteristics, and gaming preferences of the event’s audience.

How Display Ads Introduced AJAX to Italians
The Challenge
One of the key advantages that AJAX has over the competition is its mobile application, with which it is easy to manage and control the security system. Since more than 95% of conversions came from it, we decided to start by drawing attention to the application, hoping to drive up demand for the product.
Our Approach

We tested 23 potential audiences broken down by interest and identified the eight most effective targeting methods that we used in our branding campaign.

We used the Holistic Analysis of Display Advertising method to examine the campaign results in detail and optimize it in time . Thanks to him, we tracked the delayed user interactions with the brand: visits to the client’s website after viewing ads and transitions to the site from other devices.

An interesting insight was the love of Italians for Smart TV. This placement method has shown good results, so we will continue to use it.

The effective frequency in the new market for AJAX is greater than 10 to build brand awareness.
Overall, in the first month, the branded traffic originating from Italy grew by 4%. The traffic increased by another 24% in the second month. That is, the campaign made a palpable impression on the target audience and helped potential customers remember the brand.

OLX: View-through deep segmentation
The Background
OLX had a monopoly position in the Ukrainian market capturing close to 70% of the market share of online classifieds in the country. This situation was pushing the company towards a search for new areas of growth and the ways to reach and attract the new audience.
The Challenge
Our team needed to understand how to optimise ad campaign budget to prioritise channels that supply new users, but first, we had to figure out where to find them.
Our Approach
Applying methodology of ‘Comprehensive Analysis’ we looked at the view-through statistics to separate the users that were exposed to the ad and then visited the advertiser’s website through another channel for the first time during the last 90 days. This enabled us to track back the new users and understand which ad placements generated those newcomers. The budget was redistributed accordingly prioritising sources of new user acquisition.

Turan: FMCG brand promo campaign
The brand of water “Turan” of the “AsiaWaters” company had a standard advertising campaign: a promo with a drawing of valuable prizes. Mediainsider our colleagues from Kazakhstan have invited newage., because we specialize in Holistic Analysis of media campaigns. As a result, the “Turan” water campaign was successful and gave a good case that the delayed advertising effect data are extremely important not only for ecommerce projects, but also applicable for FMCG advertisers.
The delayed effect of advertising, when a user makes a purchase, registration or other targeted action after a time after the advertisement is shown, is present in both regular and digital campaigns. We used tracking Google Campaign Manager, which allows you to track post-view and cross-device actions of users after contact with ads. So we made such conclusions.

How long after visual contact with the advertising material is required for the user to go to the advertiser’s promo page and register.

Calculate the effective frequency of contact. In this campaign – the effective frequency was estimated as 3 impressions per user.
Auditor allowed us to track the number of people, who contacted with advertising on each frequency. Also, to determine who, after contact with materials at frequencies 1, 2, 3, went to the promo page. Accordingly, this gave us the opportunity to calculate the cost of users who switched on each frequency.
These two findings helped to determine the optimal frequency for the period of the advertised campaign, which was done during the campaign.
In the case of using standard advertising tools, CTR (click-through rate) would come to the fore as a metric for evaluating the effectiveness of ad impressions. This approach is outdated because it too often leads to wrong conclusions.
A new approach to segmenting digital audiences and assessing their effectiveness makes it possible to more accurately assess the results of campaigns, now using the example of the FMCG brand.

Measuring the effect of ad exposure
Background
De-facto, Bodo was the only big player in experience gifts category in Ukraine, however, the category itself was still in its infancy and was undergoing the initial growth phase, which was too slow.
Challenge
We needed to evaluate how the ad campaign impacted audience behavior and provide data that would reflect how effective the ad exposed audience compared to the regular users (control group). Secondly, we wanted to understand which traffic channels were influenced by the ad campaign the most.

Behavior-based audience segmentation
The car sales market was in a state of crisis and most of the competitors have either substantially reduced investments in the online promotion or decided to stop advertising online altogether. BMW, on the other hand, saw an opportunity to change the balance of power and fulfill the vacuum created by the crisis and cutting costs strategy of the competition.
We had to identify which impressions would be more valuable to the advertiser and which audiences would have a higher purchase intent to then concentrate the client’s marketing efforts where they could yield the best results.

Effective ad exposure frequency identification
A total of 3.8% of all ad exposed users, visited the advertisers' website over this period. (>98% of them never clicked on the ad). We’ve set the campaign frequency at 3 per campaign. This analysis allowed us to see the real lagged impact of the display ad campaign and set the frequency of ad exposure at the optimal level.
Performance
Applying optimal effective frequency, MOYO was able to get better results with fewer resources. The company was able to cut expenses on the inefficient noise (when users were shown the ad >3 times), and at the same time, maintained the maximum reach at the effective frequency. Over the time of the campaign, MOYO increased its market share by 5% eating into Allo and Citrus’ market shares.

At the beginning of the work, the cost of conversion increased as expected, as the system learned to optimize campaigns. But on the fourth week, the cost of conversions equaled the target, and later even became lower than the target price.
