Introduce your business and what you do there.
I was the big data manager at a legal services firm.
What challenge were you trying to address with Neudesic?
I needed to create advanced Power BI dashboards.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We needed to move data between certain Azure Data stores and we had to use Azure Data Factory and transform the data on the way.
Essentially, we needed to be able to single out where people have multiple convictions and were able to be released after a fourth conviction. In the state of Alabama, if you get convicted three times, you’re going to jail for life. In connection with that, we needed to filter out and find the population of the people and identify what are the outliers in the individuals who continue to be convicted and released. We also wanted to know what makes them different from others and if there were any range of differences based on a race around fines, jail time, judges, prosecutors, attorneys, and more.
The dashboards then would be used by lawyers for their legislative work. Lawyers could utilize the dashboards and present some changes to the state such as convincing them to release a number of prisoners based on their type of conviction.
What is the team composition?
We collaborated with three people. One person was in charge of moving and transforming the data, and the other two built our passwords.
How did you come to work with Neudesic?
I had interviewed for them a year prior or a couple of years prior to that. Since I really enjoyed their stance on Microsft Technologies and everything else, I gave them a shot. In addition, the price they offered was right.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent more than $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement ran from May–December 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
On the technical side, their programming skills were very good. In addition, the power of the dashboards was amazing.
How did Neudesic perform from a project management standpoint?
They lacked in some areas around project management and managing authentication using the Active Directory. They put all the risk on us because we managed the project. I feel that they were strictly just staff augmentation that they weren’t monitoring the success of the project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their account manager was exceptional. Moreover, their programmers were top-notch.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Clarify your actual requirements ahead of time.
Their programming skills were outstanding, which helped them to build powerful dashboards. The team could improve their project management skills. Overall, what stood out the most was their account manager and programmers' capabilities, leading to a successful partnership.
