Custom Software Dev for AI Software Company
the project
“We were impressed that they could deduce what we wanted and deliver beyond our expectations.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of an AI-driven software company called Aegis Consent.
What challenge were you trying to address with Neoteric?
We were looking for a company with a decent amount of AI experience in development, specifically deep learning. We don’t harvest user data, but we understand there’s an inherent value in training AI with this data, which our users also understand. We hired Neoteric to develop a slurred speech identification AI.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The software was built from scratch; we gave them a spec sheet and a technical definition sheet and discussed everything else with them. Neoteric developed the UX/UI for our flagship application in parallel with the AI.
We focused primarily on security using the native facial ID on iOS and Android as well as the PIN because the app had to be convenient while maintaining the utmost security. We went with minimal login security and maximal use security, meaning before users started documenting consensual encounters, we used our AI software to verify that the person giving consent was who they said they were using their voice pattern.
Other key features included the custom-designed layout of our educational modules. These were animated videos that we had produced in-house alongside the framework for our quiz and testing system. Neoteric also had digital artists that created all the renderings, designs, and font types for us.
We have a strict 100% pass requirement, and Neoteric created custom software to randomize the tests and ensure that after someone failed to reach 100%, the curriculum reset and forced users to rewatch all of the videos. Neoteric used Strapi on the backend admin panel, which makes it easy for us to change the app on the fly. They’re handling extended maintenance.
What is the team composition?
We had 6–8 people assigned to the project throughout our engagement. This included UX/UI developers, designers, a liaison, a lead coder, a QA person, and a person that handled the financial side.
How did you come to work with Neoteric?
We’d done a lot of research beforehand and were starting from the ground up and needed a company that would fit our flexible research needs. We found Neoteric on Clutch, and after vetting a few other companies, they were the only company that seemed to meet all of our specific needs within our very strict timeline.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent roughly $550,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together between July–December 2022. We’ve finished the first version's development, but plan on developing further programs once we have more funding.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re still pre-revenue and don't have any metrics beyond consumer engagement, but we’re about to start a beta program with an academic institution. The crispness of the aesthetic is partially why we were able to obtain the beta program.
We’ve had a high level of satisfaction with our executives and partners. Some of the employees within our companies had a few notes about optimization, so we shuffled some pages and options within the app, but for the most part, it has been received very well. We’ve reached a 96% degree of certainty with a sample size of 500 people; we expect that number to continue to grow in accuracy with more users. Everything they built has met our expectations.
How did Neoteric perform from a project management standpoint?
During development, there were instances when staff changes occurred, but Neoteric was very quick to respond and shouldered the financial responsibility of getting people up to speed.
We had weekly Zoom meetings at the start of the week and communicated via Slack. When the project got larger, we met twice weekly over Zoom and used Jira for project management.
We had two bugs that did not impact the app's functionality, one of which was discovered by Neoteric’s QA department. The bug was handled in the background, and Neoteric pushed an update. The other bug revolved around profile pictures, and Neoteric reported that the bug was completely server-sided.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They took the time to get to know our company and went very in-depth with their research to understand where we were coming from. Whenever we ran into issues or potentially new technologies we could use, they took it upon themselves to develop a prototype or a mock-up to suggest to us. We were impressed that they could deduce what we wanted and deliver beyond our expectations.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We were satisfied with everything they did.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have an executive summary of the service you’re hoping to offer and a mock-up of an app or software. That will cut back on the earlier parts of development and save time in the long run because Neoteric can understand your vision more easily.

10 weeks to build a course recommender system
When the Client approached us, they were struggling with a challenge related to their employees development. In simple terms, they were searching for a way to help their managers grow, advance in the company structure or to move between the positions within the organization.
Back then, the process of choosing courses for their employees was conducted manually. It required a lot of decisions to be made both by the employee and by the manager of a chosen department. To automate this process the Client decided to build an AI-based platform that would recommend the right courses to support the development of their employees and make sure that it aligns with the company’s goals.

11 Weeks To Build A Successful Prototype
The story behind Appoint.ly’s development goes back to 2016 when we identified the market need for an all-in-one easy to navigate solution for booking meetings online. Back then, meeting scheduling looked way different than it does today. Our team of developers in Neoteric decided to change it and develop a new product – a SaaS tool that would change the way people book meetings online.
Now, Appoint.ly is a web-based appointment scheduling tool. The app is fully integrated with Google calendar, iCal, as well as a number of other popular scheduling tools. The application is used worldwide and by people from different industries: tech companies, recruitment agencies, real estate agencies, doctors, or university professors (including the US Ivy League!).

Moving a boutique fitness studio online
When the Client approached us, they were looking for a software development company that had expertise in specific technologies (Node.js, React, and React Native) and would be able to start the project fast. And scale the team even faster when needed.
The project’s goal was to create a web and mobile application for one of the most successful American fitness studios. The app was supposed to help studio members book classes, manage their payments, and keep their healthy habits by exercising at home when they could not come to the studio.
See how it went!

Increasing profit margin by 30% in 12 months
The Client operates on an unpredictable market where prices of construction material, currency rates, and demand for the offered products constantly change and need to be monitored and benchmarked. These factors also impact the delivery time of the offered products. Due to this, the purchase process of the materials, as well as ensuring impeccable customer experience and timely delivery of goods, becomes a tough task.
These circumstances limited our Client’s capacity to secure a reasonable profit margin while offering customers the goods at a competitive price delivered on time.

The new chess experience with a 4-players chess
When Quaternity approached us, they had an offline, physical version of the chess game and wanted to bring it online. We started with developing the back-end of the app, with a complex game engine at its heart. Later on, the whole front-end development was moved to Neoteric as well so we could take care of the platform development holistically
In this project, we have:
- built an engine for 4-players chess from scratch
- developed an autoscalable engine
- test the platform with early adopters
- implement NFT-powered payments
The app received high efficiency scores and a positive reception among users. The first four-player chess tournaments have been already hosted on the Quaternity platform.

Diagramming innovation in the healthcare industry
What kind of problem was the product supposed to solve?
One of the most significant challenges of Japanese healthcare is the problem of an aging society and the enormous number of patients per 1 doctor. To face this challenge, Japan divided the land into thousands of regions and assigned one or two supporting centers to every one of them. Experts working in those entities aim to diagnose and group older patients before handing them to private clinics. Thus doctors in private companies have more time and can be focused on curing ill people rather than handling routine checkings.
And what kind of solution was dedicated for this problem?
The idea was to provide software solutions that would help the supporting centers increase effectiveness of their services.
The project we worked on aimed at creating an app that allowed users to gather information about the patients through customized questionnaires and organize it. Also, it supported coordinators in making decisions about which healthcare provider they should recommend to a certain patient, and unified the diagnosis process management among various supporting centers.

Building AI Models 40-50% Faster
The Client applies AI and NLP to extract and blend structured data from the IoT and operational databases, with unstructured, free-flowing data from Tribal Knowledge and the Internet of Everything. They then use Big Data based in-memory technology to perform deep learning to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities previously impossible with traditional analytical tools.
Problem: No experience with RappidJS. The process of building AI models is difficult and time-consuming.
Solution: Creating the visual designer app that is similar to a flowchart tool and is focused on building graphical representations of pipelines. The built solution allows companies to visually compose AI applications.
Result: The Client estimates that the app will help build AI models at least 40-50% faster once fully implemented, which translates into several manhours of coding saved

Supporting the leading Oil & Gas enterprise
Al Zamil Heavy Industries is a leading Saudi Arabian company that supplies a wide range of products and solutions to the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical.
What the Client needed was to:
→ build a new website that would reflect the brand identity
→ prepare two versions of the site: an English and an Arabic one
→ improve the conversion by making it easy to contact the company through their website.
Working closely with the Al Zamil team, we designed and implemented the new website. Starting with the session with the Client’s team, we analyzed their needs and goals that served as a baseline for the first designs. As the majority of Al Zamil’s customers are based in the Middle East, it was important to make sure that the website follows both: general usability guidelines and local design standards (e.g. adapting it to the Arabic UI by mirroring the design right-to-left).

Mobile application for the real estate
Most real estate transactions are made with the involvement of 3rd party agents, which imposes additional fees on both buyers and sellers. These costs amount to roughly 6% of the real estate value! Our Client decided to change that and save money for buyers and sellers by creating a direct connection between them.
When ThreeLeaf Creative contacted Neoteric, they were planning to publish a mobile application for real estate posting with the capabilities of direct live chat between users. The desired result was to lower the additional agent-related costs and simplify the communication between buyers and sellers.

Developing a product raising 250,000 euro funding
A recruitment platform matching talents with their dream jobs. Finding candidates for Amazon, Unified Factory, Travactory, Brand24, and other finest tech companies.
Challenge
Before we started developing Skillhunt, we noticed two problems related to recruitment in the IT industry:
- On one hand, companies were struggling with inefficient recruitments. The recruitment process was long and applications were difficult to verify and to compare.
- On the other hand, the job offers - unverified, lacking important information - were discouraging candidates.
So there were companies willing to employ IT specialists, and IT specialists... who were not actively searching to change their jobs.
Solutions
To solve these problems, we decided to build a recruitment platform that would:
-
Enable users to directly refer specialists to certain positions, getting past the HR middlemen.
-
Build mutual credibility based on the referrals, additionally rewarded by referral bonuses.
Results
- 2 weeks to build a prototype, 8 weeks to deliver an MVP
- Successful recruitments for the biggest IT companies, including Amazon, Unified Factory, Travactory.

AI-powered MVP for supply chain risk managers
When Alchemai approached us, they had an ambitious goal: to change the way supply chains are managed. They noticed that existing supply chain risk management systems typically react to problems that have already occurred and as such, are unable to proactively support robust and efficient supply chains.
The idea for the product was based on the direct insights from the market and the potential clients, and the company has already had a clickable Proof of Concept. The goal was to build a product that would be able to find the patterns, correlations, and connections within supply chain networks, use these inputs to manage and predict the supply chains, and that could be delivered to the potential client.

Building AI models 40-50% faster
AppOrchid is based in Silicon Valley specializing in artificial intelligence and cognitive computing. They develop applications that make the internet of everything think like a human brain, as stated in their mission.
This project was about building an application component to help build AI models in a visual way without the need for programming.
Using JointJS, an open-source diagramming library, we developed the Pipeline Composer application that helps companies to visually compose AI applications. The visual designer app can even be used by people who are not technical. It also helped reduce time spent on the custom development of features substituting them with ready-to-use components.
The product was delivered on time and within budget. According to the client, the new tool helps build AI models 40-50% faster than before.

Exploring the Power of Progressive Web Apps
The aim of the project was to create a high-quality, feature-rich product that would demonstrate the capabilities (and the limitations) of a progressive web app (PWA). It was meant to serve as an example of what can be achieved with a PWA and, at the same time, as a “playground” where developers could experiment, validate their hypotheses, and test out the ideas for the new features.
In the first release, we included the following features:
- Geolocation
- Scheduler
- Theme
- Video Chat
- Map
- Video Upload
- Photo Upload
- QR Scanner
- Device orientation)
- About and Install tabs, which explain the technicalities of PWA.
After its launch, the app was successfully added to App Store and Play Store.
Thanks to this Demo PWA, the time to validate if it’s possible to build certain features in a PWA was reduced. Recently, we added an Augmented Reality feature and plan to add more in the future.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the COO of a Start-Up based in New York City. We are the #1 cloud solution that analyzes human motion and body composition through any device with a camera.
For what projects/services did your company hire Neoteric?
Our website was created 1 year ago and didn't reflect the company's identity nor what the company really does. This issue led many of our stakeholders (partners, advisors, investors) to confusion and needed to be addressed with supreme expertise.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We had the pleasure to meet Neoteric in couple of industry events in US. We immediately saw in Darek, the company CEO, a deep domain of expertise. Furthermore, we demonstrated the same passion for innovation and strongly share the same views on all future trends affecting our industry.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
After a series of discovery meetings, it was clear that our current webpage was leading any person outside the organization completely off track. Our company goal, vision, mission and product were hardly perceivable by looking at our old web page version. We decided to start drafting all milestones we wanted to address and clear in the new website from scratch - from text & UX, color palette, UI, etc.. After this first step we then looked at couple of website from some of our competitors or similar industry to spot if there were common patterns in the UX.
Once these exercises were done, we started with the first lo-fidelity versions. We followed an iterative process whereby we adjusted the UI & UX any time we improved adjusted the messaging and text. The end result was as we expected a very good result. We have a new homepage that perfectly reflect what the company does.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
In total 3 peple were involved in the project. From our side the COO & the Head Of Growth + 1 Designer from Neoteric.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The steps we followed were very structured and led us to the end result smoothly. Integration is easy and we decided to give it a team who often worked with Neoteric in few similar projects.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow was very efficient. We create few direct communication channels on slack and I must the response was incredible.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I was impressed by the knowledge around website design and UX. A field we were actually looking to fulfill with professional who had strong experience. They challenged us in a very productive way, leveraging their experience working with different companies on comparable projects. The experience was great.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Things can always be done faster, especially for start-ups. At the end of the day what matter is the end result and I have nothing to add on the latter.

I'm the CEO of a fitness tech start up
For what projects/services did your company hire Neoteric?
We hired Neoteric to help us improve a product that assesses human fitness performance based on a video feed
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Neoteric was recommended to us by several acquaintances with their own start up. We decided for them based on their good understanding of the project from the onset, and their flexibility in terms of our initial engagement terms while we evaluated the quality of their services
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
The project remains confidential, but the phases included: - Initial assessment of the problem - Data availability assessment - Proposed approaches, weighed by quality of the output and feasibility - Phase 1: simple deterministic model - Phase 2: complex deterministic model (multiple level 2 and 3 parametres, conditions, etc)
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
7 people, including data scientists, data engineers, React Native and JavaScript developers, and analysts

The team kept us constantly updated and responded to our queries, pivots and deadlines in a timely manner.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We were impressed with their flexibility, adaptability, and technical acumen — we felt we didn't have to dumb our product requests down no matter how complex
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of a company that builds a platform for large enterprises to manage their learning programs. We help their learners self-manage their learning experience; they also undergo formal learning with different content providers. Essentially, our clients are growth-minded organizations, and our software helps them learn. We also help their managers follow up on metrics around their investment in learning time.
What challenge were you trying to address with Neoteric?
As a young startup in a competitive market, we need to move fast to scale up. We need to find markets and build things quickly. As a result, we’ve brought in Neoteric to help staff up our team. For context, we’ve used other suppliers and software houses before, but we’ve had huge problems with our own recruitment efforts.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We use Neoteric to help us build features within our platform; they’ve been involved in creating many front- and backend features for our product. We’re constantly running experiments in an agile fashion. Examples of the work they’ve handled include user management and reports of learner flows. Overall, they comprise roughly 30% of our total development capacity.
We’ve also had smaller engagements with Neoteric, where they’ve brought in external expertise. The team has also run a few workshops for us, teaching us about integrations within our teams while offering architectural guidance. In other words, Neoteric serves as our long-term contractors with consultants coming in for specialized engagements.
What is the team composition?
We mainly work with three people from Neoteric, and they’re all full-stack developers. They mainly work with TypeScript and React, along with MongoDB servers.
How did you come to work with Neoteric?
Our company talked to many vendors to find a team capable to help us. At one point, we engaged Neoteric and 2–3 other software houses at the same time. Neoteric stood out as the team that was easiest to manage. Their resources were easy to talk to, and they managed their retention rates better than their competitors. Simply put, we chose them because of their stability and the ease of working with them; they could quickly iterate the right profiles and locate the right resources.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $250,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Neoteric in June 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t have many hard success metrics, but the metrics we do have are fairly standard. Our team checks the code’s health and gives overall feedback for Neoteric’s work. I can also be fairly hands-on since we’re a small team. What’s been truly nice about them is their strong sense of ownership.
Moreover, their resources are also receptive to feedback, and they’ve been active participants in the coding process. The team actively shares what they know. Every time a problem happens, they step up and dig into the matter. From that perspective, Neoteric has served like our true employees.
How did Neoteric perform from a project management standpoint?
Neoteric has been highly communicative. While we do our own delivery management, their team is good at following up and participating. They tell us when estimates seem inaccurate and then find reasonable solutions. They contribute to the making of highly sensible plans. On top of that, hitting deadlines and critical delivery goals has never been a problem for them.
For project management tools, we use Jira for everything. We track every issue using tickets. Our teams also use Jira for communications and standups. Meanwhile, the complete code review happens on GitHub. Most of our communications happen openly and transparently. Their resources also quickly adapt to our way of working and communications.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The account manager that Neoteric has assigned to us has been truly easy to talk to and approachable. We never have to wait for an answer. If there’s an issue and we send him an email, we receive a quick answer. He’s always ready to hop on a call with us.
Moreover, their team gives us a nice heads up when things need to change for any reason. Overall, they’ve been truly active in the relationship, which I highly appreciate.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any. The problems we’ve had are due to external circumstances, and Neoteric has been a nice partner.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Spend the time upfront to talk about your culture. Don’t focus solely on technology; they’re good at that, but they also have a wide range of personalities that can match your requirements. In our case, we need people who are strong at everything. On top of that, when they present you with profiles, don’t be afraid to give feedback because they’re super receptive.

Custom Software Dev for R&D Engineering Company
"The Neoteric team has a good sense of responsibility, professionalism, and they’re always quick to respond."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am a product owner at Nanoramic, a unique R&D engineering company in the US. Our focus is applying technology to the problems of the energy storage and thermal management industry.
We develop cutting-edge materials, structures, and processes based on carbon composites, through which we’ve positioned ourselves as disruptive leaders in innovative, scalable, cross-industry technologies.
What challenge were you trying to address with Neoteric?
We have a complex business model that requires heavy customization and extension of our ERP based on Odoo open source ERP and a lot of AWS services. We needed a new application that was embedded in Odoo frontend and a stand-alone app for the second project.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Neoteric provides our team with custom software development and several other projects. The first project we completed was a workplace organization app based on "5S methodology" that uses a list of five Japanese words translated as "sort," "set in order," "shine," "standardize," and "sustain." We added "safety" as a sixth step. The purpose of the app is to boost situational awareness at our company. The app enables administrators to draw the areas of the facility and link corresponding areas in Odoo. The app helps to see the inspection status of each area, the percentage of its completion, and its score in a numeric value.
Our ongoing project is the development of a performance management system for employees called Balanced Score Cards. The main intent of the app is quarterly strategy maps that show in real-time the status of a quarter. These are mapped to Balanced Scorecards that are tracking actual vs a Triade of targets (TTS - Threshold, Target, Stretch).
It also allows the automatic collection of data from other apps, as well as manual collection.
Regarding technologies, they used Angular, TypeScript, and JointJS for the application itself. Jasmine and Karma were used for unit testing, Cucumber for E2E tests, and GitHub for sharing CD.
What is the team composition?
We work with a senior software engineer, a software engineer, an intern software engineer, a QA engineer, and a scrum master.
How much have you invested in them?
So far, we’ve spent around $140,000 USD.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in July 2021, and it’s still ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t really have a means of measuring cost and time related so the project might be difficult to assess. However, the maps we’ve developed are posted on screens throughout the facility and so far, they’ve been effective when it comes to situational awareness.
How did Neoteric perform from a project management standpoint?
For the first project, we used Jira and Kanban, and implemented some scrum methods for the demos and planning sessions. For communication, we used Slack and Google Meet. For the second project, we’ve been fully using the scrum methodology, and the UI/UX designs and User stories are also provided by us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re very impressed with the quality of their deliverables. The Neoteric team has a good sense of responsibility, professionalism, and they’re always quick to respond to our concerns.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything they could improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would advise people to work with them.

I am the Head of Engineering of a Software Company
For what projects/services did your company hire Neoteric, and what were your goals?
We hired Neoteric to redevelop the codebase of our cross platform HTML5 mobile app to be localisable. Previously this app was only available in English and our aim was to support Spanish among other languages
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
By word of mouth alone, I had heard brilliant things about Neoteric in terms of the quality of work they produce and the cost effectiveness of that work
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We worked with the Neoteric team to identify the specific areas of the app that would need localising and the order in which that localisation should occur. After that, the Neoteric developers were very diligent in ensuring that each specific feature was delivered fully localised by moving onto the next one. This enabled us to provide our users with phased localisation updates quickly
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
A Scrum Master, Lead Developer and a second developer
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Our app is now being used in multiple Spanish speaking countries and is helping us widen its reach globally
