International PPC Campaign Management for Issuu
issuu is an online software-as-a-service (SaaS) publisher. Its solutions empower content creators to upload and distribute their publications worldwide. issuu wanted to exponentially grow their current campaigns to capture as much of the search market as possible. The goal was to increase their spend and number of conversions while, most importantly, maintaining a low cost per conversion.
The high cost-per-click keywords related to the publishing industry issuu needed to target made conversions potentially very costly if their campaign was not managed well. Grabbing more impression share while expanding into 20 countries and 15 different languages without raising the CPA was going to be difficult. But Neon Ambition took full advantage of its international experience to create a rock-solid campaign structure that could expand to higher and higher budgets without losing its effectiveness.
In just over one year, Neon Ambition more than tripled issuu’s impression share and conversions, capturing a great slice of the pie, with a cost per conversion that exceeded the client's goal — one even lower than they began with. The campaign reached over 300M users worldwide in more than 20 countries and 15 languages. And conversions increased by over 300%!

Launched Master Planned Community with a Bang!
Brookfield Residential is the 5th largest home builder and developer in North America. Brookfield Residential sought to find an experienced media partner who could manage a mirage of details across its different, one-of-a-kind housing communities. Quick turnaround times to pull data analytics and insights were critical for partner success, as well as the ability to update messaging, creative, and media targeting in real-time.
Brookfield hired Neon Ambition to manage their Paid Media Services and help with establishing a never-been- done-before type of housing community for active, 55+ year old adults in San Marcos called Kissing Tree.
The media goal was to attract buyer leads prior to the grand opening of this new community. The market was not familiar with the new concept of “active 55+ adult” living, therefore not only did the media strategy need to attract leads for a large, decision-making purchase, it also had to perform educational marcom.
If that wasn’t hard enough, the Austin housing market was already saturated with move-in ready competitor home options. Nevertheless, we were asking people to sign-up for a development that had not broken ground yet and we were unable to confirm all community details.
In a 7 month period, the campaign far exceeded corporate goals by sending 86,489 website visitors to the brand new website and creating 115,951 social interactions to the new Facebook page.
This garnered over 6,200 leads.
The soft opening event had such a high RSVP rate that we stopped accepting RSVPs. Over 300 people attended.
Upon uncovering this wildly interested customer group, the brand decided to break ground earlier than anticipated. Over 1,200 interested prospects came to the grand opening event which led to more than 150 prospects to reserve a future homesite — impressive for a community that did not have a single move-in ready home to sell.

SEO for Personal Injury Law Firm
FVF Law had a well-designed website with lots of great information about their firm, but they were having trouble getting their site to rank well on Google for their most important keyword phrases. Even though they had lots of positive reviews from past clients and good content, these factors were not translating to the kind of rankings that would bring organic web traffic.
Their work with other SEO agencies had failed to capture their specific message, and they were lumped into an already brimming pool of personal injury attorneys stuck on page two or worse of Google’s search results. Even though FVF Law had worked hard to develop values that would separate them from the pack, the one-size-fits-all approach of many digital marketing firms kept them stuck in a difficult market.
Next, by combining thorough keyword research, competitive analysis and feedback from FVF, we generated topics for relevant and timely content that would better answer the queries people were searching for. Our legal copywriting team wrote over 40 new pages of content for the site and rewrote existing content to optimize it for SEO, then worked to integrate it into a new site structure and navigation while maintaining a focus on user experience.
Given Austin’s sizable Latino/a population, we also wanted to ensure we were able to serve this important part of the community and be able to answer questions for and provide helpful content to Spanish speakers as well. In order to do so, we identified FVF’s 39 most important pages and translated them into Spanish.
We also worked hard to increase the authority of their site through high quality backlinking. The winning combination of technical SEO fixes, fresh content and high quality backlinks has created phenomenal growth in FVF’s organic traffic and revenue. In just under two years, monthly organic traffic has increased 993% percent with first page rankings for more than 370 highly valued search terms and 108 in the top 3.

Local SEO for B2B Focused Metal Recycling Center
Gardner Metal Recycling has been a leader in metal recycling in Central Texas for over 60 years. Leads for metal sellers were lagging, and people were having a hard time finding their physical business location. Gardner also wanted to improve the conversion rate of their website and make it easier for visitors to find the information they need. Additionally, they wanted the site to encourage visitors to call for a quote or visit their recycling center in person.
Gardner was investing in Google AdWords, but the campaigns were set up incorrectly and spending money inefficiently. The company was also having a hard time understanding their ROI because they weren't tracking phone calls as conversions.
Our strategy was three-fold:
- Local SEO: We tackled the local listings for Gardner's business addresses, eradicating the old address mentions and adding many new local listings with the correct address. This included updating the Google My Business profile as well.
- Website: It was difficult for users to find their way around the site to get information, and conversions were not being tracked in any way. We updated the site to a WordPress CMS, secured it with an SSL certificate, optimized all of the pages to rank for the keywords they were targeting, created a blog for them, and started tracking all of the conversions on the site.
- Google Ads: The previous AdWords build was spending far too much money on the wrong terms. We cleaned up the keywords, wrote and tested all new ads, and ensured all of the conversions were being tracked so that we could optimize the campaigns toward the terms and ads that were leading to conversions. This conversion tracking also helped Gardner to better understand their ROI.
With our help, Gardner Metal Recycling saw a 435% increase in leads from organic traffic, a 482% increase in PPC conversions and an 88% decrease in cost per lead!

I’m the marketing director at Freedom Solar, a solar contractor.
What challenge were you trying to address with Neon Ambition?
They’re our digital marketing partner. We work together to drive new traffic, improve our conversion rate, and engage our existing pool of leads that have not converted yet.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’re currently working with Neon Ambition on SEO, search engine marketing, and content marketing campaigns. The team promotes our campaigns on social media as well as on our website. We’re also working on an email campaign.
Together, we did a persona exercise, where we identified our target audience, which is how Neon Ambition created a series of recommendations for our campaigns. They’ve done third-party outreach, content writing, and execution plans.

We work with Jenni (Account Services Director), who’s our primary contact. We’re also working with one person on the content marketing campaign, as well as one contact on the SEO side. I was researching SEO agencies online, and was impressed with Neon Ambition because they themselves were performing well in terms of SEO. In our first meeting with them, the owner was very interested in understanding our business goals and how they would fit into them. Their focus was on how to improve our lead flow and revenue. We had a strong alignment of interests. In addition, they were local to us.

We’ve spent about $145,000 over the course of about 18 months.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together since March 2018. We worked with them for a year, before partnering with another company. We returned to Neon Ambition earlier this year primarily on the strength of their SEO capabilities.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our primary metric is lead flow and conversion. We have some interim measures as well, including organic and paid traffic, rankings, and local page performance. We haven’t yet seen the impact of the content marketing campaign, which we’re about to launch.

We’re also impressed with their skill level. Neon Ambition are subject matter experts in all their roles. That’s especially true on the SEO side; we haven’t gotten results back from the content marketing campaign, but it looks good so far.

Our paid search campaign has been an area for improvement in our engagement. We’ve made good progress, but some of those have come for our account manager, who’s gone above and beyond, rather than the paid search team.

We had a bad Squarespace website and needed a proper WordPress website that had better messaging and better SEO attributes.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Neon Ambition moved our website from Squarespace to WordPress. They also helped us develop our messaging on the website and marketing plan, and they established an email campaign. Additionally, they create content and help us tell customers what it is we do.
The team improves our SEO through the placement on the website and chooses images and pictures for the website. They set up our HubSpot and develop content for a monthly offering. We’re done with the website and now we’re working on maintenance and the longer-term relationship of developing content.

The most important thing I was looking for in a relationship with a group like theirs was their creative abilities and ability to understand our business and help us create the appropriate message and appropriate content. They’re very good at that. Second to that would be design work.
They place the content on the website in a way that is pleasing to the eye in terms of the colors and layout. It was all very good. Their ability to get things done and keep the project moving is also very important. They have the ability to listen to what we want and interpret that into the product they deliver. I am a lawyer and the owner of a law firm with two offices. I run both offices.
What challenge were you trying to address with Neon Ambition?
I am a personal injury lawyer. I am trying to generate more business by advertising for car accidents and things like that.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I have done PPC campaigns in the past that worked fine, but they very expensive. I looked into SEO, which is what Neon Ambition does for me. I wasn’t as familiar with SEO, and they basically just helped me out from the ground up.
I came to them with the intention of doing PPC, which was my first idea. Then, I started asking more questions about SEO. They explained that no matter what they did, they’d need to build a new website. My existing site wasn’t very good, so they built a new one to bring me new leads. The website is very nice, and I believe it was done using WordPress. It is much more active than my previous one, and I like it. They also write articles for my website as well as blogs to create different links back to the actual website as people are searching online.
We are probably going to start doing PPC soon, but right now, we are still working the SEO angle.

We started in November 2019. The website launched in February of this year, and I am still working with them.

The web traffic is there, and the number of clicks to my website and all of those numbers have been starting to increase over the last 2–3 months. I was looking for company that was experienced, efficient, and effective, and I found all three in Neon Ambition. They communicate well and are easily accessible. My experience with Neon Ambition has been fantastic.
Unfortunately, like every business in the world, and especially in the US, the pandemic has slowed things down. However, they are easy to work with and always available. Things are done right. We mostly communicate through email. They send me updates with links and various agendas of things they have done and things to do.

This is a hard question; I would have to be doing different projects with different providers to compare. I just like that they are in Austin and I am from Austin originally. I also like the way they communicate and the way they think. From what I’ve seen so far, they are pretty good at what they do compared to others.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t really know the business that well to say where they can improve. If I had to pick something, they could maybe set better expectations. I had an idea in my mind of where I would be now, but that could’ve been due to my lack of SEO knowledge.
There was one period where I thought I was not getting my money’s worth, so I asked Jordan more questions and tried to see if I really wanted to continue with SEO. They could maybe better explain what you can expect with a long-term SEO project.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
People need to do their research and understand what SEO and PPC are, amongst Neon Ambition’s other services. They need to be patient and just really let Neon Ambition know what it is they are after once they have some general knowledge of the different types of campaigns. I had this whole mindset about PPC and SEO. The little things that I had researched online concerning SEO said these projects take anywhere from 3–6 months, or a year and beyond sometimes, whereas PPC is expensive, but you get a quick turnaround for leads. Whoever wants to work with them really needs to know what they want and to be patient.

At first meeting, Neon worked hard to understand our business inside and out and help us to set goals for what we hoped to achieve. From a keyword search to a technical audit of our website, we received more than we expected from the get-go. We then received a plan tailored specifically for us that detailed how Neon would help us through specific action items and deliverables. This plan included monthly blog posts, content offers, backlinks, consulting, and more.

Our organic Google rankings have improved every month as we are starting to see our company show up on the 2nd and 3rd pages of Google for certain important keywords instead of the 20th. The copywriting team can take very little information from us, do some further research and produce an extremely thoughtful and spot-on piece of content that even I am able to learn from.

Before the engagement, we had very little SEO strategy — in fact, we had none — so our traffic numbers were low, and overall digital presence was very weak.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Primarily, Neon Ambition provides SEO strategy services and implementation of improvements with regard to that strategy. They handle content writing, completed an entire website revision, and conduct periodic audits. Essentially, their team constantly helps us improve to make sure we stay competitive.

I interact with three individuals — an account manager, a content writer, and an individual who handles technical aspects such as backend coding and development.

Formerly, we’d get less than 500 views on our website. Now, we get over 4,600 and that rate has increased year-over-year. We used to have zero conversions and now we receive between 50–60 per month.
Our first account manager held the status quo, but I’ve seen significant improvement with our new and current one. They’re on top of things as well as are very organized and transparent. They send biweekly agendas and reports, and we go through metrics once a month. In the last year, I’ve seen a significant improvement in a consistent request for my feedback, which I really appreciate.

They’ve done fairly well with project management. We’ve had certain hiccups in the past with our website revision where there were certain things that should’ve been considered in the beginning, but we realized midway through that we forgot.

We have a very technical product that can be difficult to write about. We had a bit of a learning curve in the beginning helping the writers understand the product and our language to produce quality (and accurate) content.

Our engagement began with a discovery phase and we laid out our goals. They helped us with keyword research and performed an analysis of our competitors. From there, they made on-site changes and created new collateral with our updated tactics and keywords.
Their team also wrote monthly blogs for our website.

They assigned a project manager who distributed work amongst their team. There were 2 SEO specilists in communication with us.
