For what projects/services did your company hire Moravio, and what were your goals?
We were in a position where our Technical In-house Lead was no longer able to work with us, so we decided to look for a software partner to continue the development of the core platform. Our platform is very ambitious, integrating a lot of different technologies, with a high level of R&D involvement too. We needed a partner who could develop the main components of the platform - the Dashboard, the Class Builder and the Stream Manager.
We sent out briefs to several companies, some based in the UK and some abroad and chose Moravio after a really good pitch. The pitch had not re-used other slides from decks from other pitches. It was unique to us and that said a lot.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We shortlisted a few companies after identifying potential partners. We chose Moravio because we liked their 'non-salesy BS free' approach and being very upfront and honest with realistic deliverables. The pricing was extremely fair and we liked the fact they developed all in-house, rather than sub-contract out.
They seemed genuinely excited by the R&D requirement of the project and were not afraid to say that there would be some elements to the brief they might not be instantly familiar with, but would learn and develop with us. This is what appealed to us - their honestly and open collaboration. Pricing was one factor - but not the most important factor.

We provided documentation and demos of where the project was at from the start. We then listed what tasks needed to be completed for the MVP and estimates were given. We listed the requirements in priority order and detailed 2 week sprint objectives were provided with Moravio. Technologies used are:

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Firstly we are amazed by the quality of the organisational skills of the company. Nothing is missed. In our regular conversations, everything is noted and logged down, so we don't let important things slide. Considering the complexity of the project, that combines lots of different types of coding and skills, we found the their attention to detail impeccable. The video streaming works really well and was exactly what we asked for. The calendar function works well and they have successfully integrated the Stripe APIs.

Considering the complexity of the project, that combines lots of different types of coding and skills, we found the collaboration between the team very well handled, thanks to the project manager and the Tech Lead. We had a breakdown of all the hours spent on every sprint, which was essential for our investors.
Confluence and Trello was used as the overall management tool and we had several meetings throughout the week. We did this mostly on Google Meets, but on two occasions, we were accommodated at their offices in the Czech Republic, with a two week stay at one point.
Beyond the technical competence, it was always important for us that we could build up a rapport and friendship with the software house we chose. We wanted the people we hired to feel like they were just an extension of our company, involved in coming up with ideas. We had the Whatsapp numbers of the team if we needed to ask any questions out of hours or during holidays, and enjoyed socializing with the team on our two trips there. We have become friends as well as colleagues.
We would do a sprint review every week and as we went along the journey, we would need to sometimes add new features. When adding new features we found them to be very accommodating and honest when it came to the time estimates. They are completely trustworthy too. They would always adjust invoices for the slightest change. For example, if one of the developers was unwell, and was off for only one day, they would inform us and take that day off the next invoice.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
When we approached Moravio, we believe it was probably the most complex live video streaming project they had done - in fact I believe it is the first of its kind so we would have struggled to have found any company with experience in this. What we thought was especially impressive, is how they delivered on the creation of a whole new type of video streaming solution, when this hadn't been achieved before.
We have not had any experience with working with a software company before, so it is hard to say what is 'unique' but it has been a very positive experience and we feel comforted that they are just as keen for our company to succeed as we are. We are still working with them and will continue to do so, moving to an SLA until we prove the business model. We have never felt that this was just a brief to them. We have always found that they are excited about what we are trying to do within the fitness industry and that is very important to us.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
At the very start of the project, we did have some issues with communication, in terms of what was required from us and what our expectations were from them. This was partly a fault from our side too, which is probably down to the fact we had not worked with agile development or any other form of software development before. The manager told us from the start, if we ever had any concerns, we should speak about them. We set up a meeting and from the end of that meeting all communication concerns and expectations from both sides were resolved promptly.

The existing application runs on Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend. We have a large number of read requests and a minimum of writes. Therefore it was decided to prepare an Erlang Phoenix server with GraphQL API. It was necessary to design the architecture of the solution and then arrange the implementation. The next step was to adapt the React frontend to use this GraphQL API.

We were looking for 2 additional developers, Moravio supplied 1 backend developer and 1 frontend developer. From our side the cooperation was managed by the CTO.

A colleague of mine recommended the company based on his previous working experience with Moravio. Moravio reacted fast on our inquires and they started small - with just 2 team members. The team grew naturally as our needs for capacities increased with no commitments needed, so the decision was easy, as there was almost no risk involved.

Moravio team communicates directly with our product manager as a separate feature team. Internal engineering team is involved in reviewing their design documents and occasionaly the code.
Their team is sprinting, demoing and deploying their work every 2 weeks. Their engineers mainly work on node.js / TypeScript backend micro-services.

Moravio had a team of 9 on different areas of the project, including a team lead, frontend and backend developers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Our internal teams were focused on improving the Jet platform and the calendar experience, meanwhile Moravio was able to autonomously develop desk booking Jet skills. They took real ownership of the feature and were able to drive the development independently.

Team lead of the team has a technical background as well as product thinking. He was able to come up with new ideas to streamline the design of features our product manager requested.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Employees as well as management of the company are really passionate about building great products and it shows. They take feedback seriously and they adapt fast.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
During one time period, when they had a lot on their plates, they had a tendency to overcommit themselves. It took a few months for them to start pushing back enough to be able to prioritize better.

We are construction company (family business). As a general contractor we deliver with residential buildings, civic amenities and industrial buildings. I work as a project manager.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I have googled 3 vendors in our region with the inquiry. 2 of them replied in a reasonable time. After that I met with both agencies. The key factors were budget, delivery date and references.

We have met with project manager before we signed the contract. This meeting helped us to finish the details of assignment to meet our goals. Right after that we signed the contract and we set up regular weekly meetings/calls to follow the progress.
We discussed the target audiences and the basic structure of the website. After 2 weeks we recieved first wireframes. Moravio came with the first graphic design which we actually liked at the first sight. Then they started to write a brand new content. Once we approved the content and final graphic design they started programming new site. We tested and polished few details and went live on time.

I worked with project manager, UX and graphic designer, programmer, tester and copywriter.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Its too soon to analyze any data, but overall the main stakeholders (current customers, vendors, our employees and owners) love the new website.

The communication with project manager was seamless and effective.

I appreciated the commitment of the whole team. I came with some several changes during the project and Moravio implemented all of them with the smile on their faces.

The project started with a kick-off meeting, where we presented our requirements, ideas and goals. At the next meeting, the supplier's team presented possible solutions to the basic framework of the project and the technology used, including the initial visualization using wireframes. During the next meetings, the framework and wireframes were gradually modified into the final form.

The main contact person was the project manager. Other experts were invited to the meeting if necessary.

After the launch of the new website, the number of email queries for information provided on the website has been significantly reduced. Visitors also stopped getting lost on the web. The number of website visitors via mobile phone or tablet has also increased significantly.

We had appointments as needed, and all tasks had appointments. If there was a delay, it was announced and justified in advance. We used BaseCamp for communication.

We hired Moravio to design and develop our company's new website. The goal was to create a website that will be well usable for our target groups and there will be clear and understandable call to action elements. We needed to cover information for all our target groups as potential employees, current employees and customers - print managers and publishing houses. The website was to be implemented in five language versions. The contract also included the design and development of a web application for the 3D presentation of a production line for trade fairs.

We did a tender. We were looking for a partner for long-term cooperation, someone who comes up with suggestions and ideas, and who is able to guide our ideas in the right direction. Internal referral was also an important factor.

At the beginning, a project analysis took place across all involved departments in the company. We have defined requirements, expectations, goals and acceptance criteria. Then the design was done using a wireframe and the graphic design of the website was created. Finally, the site was developed and deployed. The Wordpress platform is used for web administration. All phases took place in an iterative way so we could see the progress of the project and we could provide feedback on an ongoing basis.

Communication was fast and efficient. The approach was very personal and committed. We used the Basecamp application and emails for all communication. We always had a good overview of the status of the project and we were involved in it. During the project, a demo took place several times. Each demo was used to present larger partial parts of the final result. The result was delivered on time.

The cooperation was very intensive and dynamic. The responses were really fast and all our requests were processed in a short time. We felt that Moravio perfectly understood our ideas and needs.

There is always something to improve. In the case of Moravio, however, these things were so small that it is not even worth talking about.
