Bexchange - Private Auctioning Platform
Ensuring transparency and security in an auctioning platform.
The challenge
There are not many online platforms that make insolvency auctioning easy. These require a high level of transparency and security in the transactions as they handle different confidential data that has to be encrypted and safely stored. Being aware of this gap in his industry, our client approached us with the aim of creating Europe’s most secure and transparent auction platform for the liquidation and recovery of businesses and assets.
From that initial idea, we partnered up and lead a full-service design and development process while ensuring our client kept ownership throughout the entire project journey.
The solution
Through user research and prototyping, we ensured that both the usability and perceived transparency of the platform were in check. Based on a thorough technical analysis, we created a robust web platform, able to handle an extensive number of concurrent users and transactions. By managing accordingly the overhead and data structure, the platform has a very high performance.
1) Custom-made features that ensure scalability and security
Instead of relying on third-party services and increasing the running costs for our client, we developed each different functionality from the ground up. For example, we developed a custom digital signing feature to avoid increasing the project costs by acquiring it externally, while keeping the platform scalable and secure.
2) Ensuring a successful handover of the platform
Keeping the product handover in mind, we provided our client with custom CMS enabling them to edit and manage transactions, users and other information on the platform.

SlimWonen - Cross-platform Energy Insights
The SlimWonen app
With the mission of helping people adopt more sustainable energy behaviours at home, the SlimWonen team has devised an app that provides tenants with insights into their energy consumption at home. This information is shown to the user next to tips on how to reduce energy consumption, and consequently, energy costs. To be able to provide this app for free, SlimWonen works closely with housing corporations that offer the app to their tenants.
The challenge
To visualize the energy consumption of each tenant, the SlimWonen app is connected to the smart meters of the different energy grid providers in the Netherlands.
The team at SlimWonen approached us with the need of increasing their ownership over the app, improve its usability, and implement a better background technology that would improve the process of fetching information on energy consumption from the smart meters.
The solution
Together with SlimWonen, we have designed and developed a fully new solution that strengthens both their product and business model.
The brand-new app provides complete ownership to the SlimWonen team and access to modify the app’s content at any point. The new technology improves and secures the process of fetching data about energy consumption. Three of the main solutions are:
- The cloud-based mobile application is compatible with both IOS and Android, scalable, and considers security at its core.
- Users can find in the new app multiple features that make it easier to stay on top of the energy consumption and encourage them to be more sustainable
- A new analytics platform helps strengthen SlimWonen's collaboration and user-data exchange with the housing corporations.

WellDecommissioned - Webplatform
The challenge
In the upcoming decades, globally 2.000.000 oil and gas wells will reach the end of their economic life cycle. The major problem with decommissioning these wells is that it’s a very complex and expensive procedure such that it requires very accurate estimations and planning.
To solve the problem of decommissioning, WellDecommissioned developed a mathematical model that already made far more accurate estimations and planning than current models that are used by the biggest companies in the industry. WellDecommissioned came to Miyagami with their model, which we further optimised for better and more accurate estimations.
The solution
Miyagami designed and developed an entirely scalable, cloud-based web application around the model, which shows quick and precise estimations. Using simplicity as a major guideline during the development, the final product resulted in a web application that ‘guides’ the user in a structured and clear manner through the complex model.

Denim City - Responsive Webplatform
The challenge
Denim City’s brand and community needed an online space to host an online shop and keep the community up to date with their latest events and workshops. We worked with their brand designer to produce a website that would align with Denim City’s brand identity and enable the institute to continue extending its reach digitally.
The solution
A new and aligned digital presence
To strengthen Denim City’s brand and digital presence, we created a mobile-first responsive website. The focus of the project was to translate the existing design vision and brand guidelines of Denim City into a safe and responsive website that the team could self-manage.
Control over their online content
As an educational institute with a diverse offer of workshops and events, the team at Denim City needed full control over their website to keep the content up to date. We worked with them in the handover of the platform and ensured they can maintain it themselves with a WordPress built-in CSM system.
A mobile-first approach
Denim City’s online traffic is mainly via mobile phone. With that in mind, we followed a mobile-first design and development approach to ensure not only responsiveness but as well that Denim City’s brand style would be uniform over all possible browsers and screen sizes.
Takeaways
The new Denim City website enables the team to keep their community up to date with their latest events and manage an online shop. Not only that, through this translation of its brand to the digital space, Denim City has updated and strengthened its presence within the local denim industry.

PIT Self Placement - People Transformation
The client & challenge
PIT Self Placement offers a scientifically, statistical-based process that enables people to understand what career and occupation would bring them the most joy. While being experts in transforming people’s paths, they were in need of going through a transformation of their own. Their key product was in need of a technology update that would allow them to stay digitally relevant and strengthen their business model.
The solution
Miyagami proposed an overhaul of their product that would drive an update of their business model and increase their competitiveness in the digital era.
Transforming the existing technology
To create this update, our development team dived into the existing code, built originally in DOS in 1942, gathered extensive knowledge on statistical methods, and reverse-engineered the existing technology to optimize key processes and propose a new algorithm in Python that made the company future-proof.
A digital platform that updates the business model
From a strategic standpoint, PIT Self Placement wanted to explore the possibilities that a digital update would offer to their business model. At Miyagami, we developed a web application that integrates the new algorithm with a clear interface from which users can complete on their own the steps needed for their transformation process and download a report with the results. This platform also allows PIT Self Placement to manage the users and their progress, ultimately automating their services from remote self-assessment to the generation of the custom report.

They have organised and coordinated our quarterly hackathon for the product & development team. In addition, the same day was used for a strategic communication session with the sales & marketing team.

We had some mutual connections and they had the experience we were searching for.

They have organised a full day at their office with designers, developers, brand and product managers. We divided the team into subteams working together on a solution, hackathon style.
Next to that, we had a productive strategic communication session with lots of sticky notes showing good ideas. Great thing is they have made it very actionable things. Thanks to their approach and help, we can implement the feature and action items soon.

A full team of designers, developers, brand and product managers, about 7-8 in total.

A feature which we can implement into our product, and some changes in communication we can directly make. In contrast, most often such hackathons result in great ideas but aren't implemented at all.

Very effective, as we had a quick start and so much fun.

We searched online and found Miyagami. I had heard there name before from other companies which where very happy with their services. I contacted the owner and he was very nice and helpful.

They first did an audit on our current digital growth plan and technology stack. Then they helped with making a roadmap for the digital growth. Once agreed on the roadmap they started writing out the plans for, growing our user base, collecting feedback from important early customers and landing page conversion.
Regarding the technology stack they wrote an audit report for the comparison of 3rd party software that our company needs with a focus on price and scalibility.

We worked with a manager, digital growth hacker, designer and developer.

Landing page conversion increased with 70% after the project. Saved over thousends of euros by making the right choice by following their technological advice.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of PIT Self-Placement, a career coaching platform. We typically work for the large corporate firms in the Netherlands, but also for a number of politicians, members of parliament, and ministers when they leave their job in the government.
What challenge were you trying to address with Miyagami?
We needed someone to build our career coaching platform because we felt we couldn’t do it ourselves.
What was the scope of their involvement?
First, we met with Miyagami and discussed our needs. Then, they designed and programmed the whole platform for us. We tested it a couple of times and made some changes until we were satisfied with how it worked.
We use the Q method, a pretty well-known method in psychology, to evaluate our candidates and help them choose a career. Miyagami helped us build a unique system that uses this method within our platform to produce online reports about our candidates’ assessments.
Getting across this message was key for us, and they quickly understood this methodology. To achieve this, Miyagami read a lot of material online, and they also read a publication written by my colleague about the topic. Then, they translated this methodology into our platform.

We work mainly with Dale (Founder) and another person.
How did you come to work with Miyagami?
I heard about Miyagami through word of mouth. Someone told me that they could do this for me.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around €25,000–€35,000 (approximately $29,000–$35,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in March 2019, and we went live with the first version 4–5 months later. Since then, we’ve been upgrading the platform little by little, so our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Miyagami has really grasped what our company is about, so we’re happy with the results. Every report that our platform delivers is a delight for the candidate because they recognize themselves in it. Additionally, the reports are very readable and well presented; Miyagami helped us design the output in an excellent way.
How did Miyagami perform from a project management standpoint?
Miyagami listened to our requirements and thoroughly understood what we were looking for. They work very fast and meet every deadline, so I have no complaints about their project management. When people have technical questions, they assist us. Our points of contact are very helpful, and they’ve become real partners for us.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Miyagami has an impressive thirst for understanding exactly what their clients want — they really feel like partners.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Miyagami is a group of young people, and I’m about 60. Although we have the classic generational gap, it is hard to say how they can improve. They have a great startup attitude, and from a technical and quality perspective, I have no complaints whatsoever.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear about what you want. My requests have been pretty specific, and our engagement has worked out well.
