Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a founder of Shopper Media Group. We’re a media and marketing company that works with CPG brands and retailers, creating, implementing, and measuring their in-store and online marketing campaigns.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Mindfury Digital?

We decided to develop our own software platform to host the data we generate internally and the performance data from our client’s marketing campaigns. Basically, we wanted to move our operations from Excel spreadsheets and scattered documentation to a crowdsourcing platform that can be accessed by internal staff and our clients.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

After helping us determine the best technology to use for the project, Mindfury Digital developed our software solution using MongoDB for the database, Node.js for the backend, Salesbot for the framework, and Angular.js in the HTML and CSS pages. The system is connected to both media and data APIs, as well as several different servers.

Our clients can log into the solution to track their own marketing campaigns and access data on their performance. They can also view aggregated results gathered from all of our clients to form a bigger picture of the market and provide new insights. Ideally, all of our clients can crowdsource information from each other, which ultimately improves everyone’s business.

I worked directly with Nick (CTO & Architect, Mindfury Digital).

How did you come to work with Mindfury Digital?

We found them through an online search for local vendors. We wanted to be able to meet with their team in-person.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $50,000–$200,000 on this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from April 2016–March 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Mindfury delivered a robust and reliable software solution. So far, we haven’t had any major crashes. Its performance is really important, considering some of the largest CPGs in the industry use the platform.

How did Mindfury Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great. Mindfury Digital trained us on Jira and set up a Slack channel for immediate communication. We were new to both tools. From day one, we managed the project using a ticketing system. Their team worked efficiently and responsively in an agile environment. I have no complaints.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We provided Mindfury Digital with an undeveloped idea for a complex solution, and they turned it into a real product. They put a strong foundation in place, and we’re still currently using the product.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing really comes to mind.

Any advice for potential customers?

Clients should set aside time to brief the Mindfury Digital team on the architecture of their business. Let them do a bit of consulting work. In our case, it was very helpful.
