I am the Co-Founder of DYO+, a USA-based company that distributes products for health and beauty by focusing on reinvesting parts of the income in environmental projects. DYO+ accompanies people to a healthier, happier future with natural remedies and nutritional supplements made with the finest raw ingredients, such as carefully selected highly saturated botanical essences, essential oils, and other active ingredients from nature.

For what projects/services did your company hire Mgroup, and what were your goals?

Based on the ShipMonk platform, we had set up an online store on our own. However, we quickly noticed that some customers did not complete the sales process after the goods were in the shopping cart. For this reason, we decided to have the online store optimized by MGroup so that it would meet the requirements of the US market.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We researched Shopify specialists on the Internet and came across MGROUP. Of course, we also talked to other providers, but MGROUP convinced us immediately. The agency had set up a clean analysis of our store to discuss already the approaches to solving our problem at our first zoom call. That was more than professional!

We had a kick-off meeting to discuss our goals and objectives. From there, the team delivered mock-ups and wireframes for our site, which we approved. After a few iterations, their team designed and developed the new Shopify site, incorporating a contact form and payment processing feature.

Our project manager, Irina, was our primary contact throughout the process, which we appreciated a lot! Not only that she is more than professional; she also convinced us with her open and friendly nature and always worked for the best solution. We will miss working with her and hope that we will soon be able to tackle the next joint challenge with Irina and MGROUP. Behind the scenes, there were also two backend developers and a designer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After launching our site, we quickly realized increased traffic, and our sales doubled after a short period. Customers love the updated design. The product pages are easier to navigate, and users have diverse options to pay.

We had daily stand-ups with our project manager, Irina, who communicated with the rest of the team. If there were any delays, they let us know ahead of time so that we could prepare ourselves – which rarely happened. MGROUP used Slack, Jira, and GitHub to coordinate communication. In Pat's and my eyes, the cooperation was fantastic!

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

MGROUP had a lot of experience in building robust e-commerce websites. The very dedicated team showed us how to best use Shopify and especially our project manager, Irina, was more than responsive to our needs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is nothing really to improve in our opinion. Initially, we had coordination difficulties because we were traveling in 3 time zones. But even here, MGROUP reacted immediately in the most positive way. Their flexibility, high commitment and punctual, reliable manner are unbeatable.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a co-founder and the CEO of Blocksport. We’re a sports tech company working in the fan engagement area. We provide a white-label mobile app solution to sports clubs.

What challenge were you trying to address with MGroup?

We needed help with web development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

MGroup is providing maintenance on our main corporate website and developed our spinoff e-coaching platform, Focuz.gg. The platform is a marketplace for sports education, where people can learn from professional players. It’s built on Shopify and uses basic frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

What is the team composition?

We’ve engaged one project manager, one designer, one frontend developer, and one Shopify developer from MGroup.

How did you come to work with MGroup?

We’re both from Ukraine, and I’d known their owner for a long time. I first engaged MGroup four years ago, mainly for web development and design. I originally found them through a recommendation from my network.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost so far is just above €10,000, including the main development, maintenance, and changes.

What is the status of this engagement?

The Blocksport maintenance project started in October 2019, and the Focuz.gg project started in the summer of 2020. We’ve had a live prototype since May 2020, but we stopped it and rebuilt the design. It’s been live since September 2020. MGroup is continuing to provide maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m fully satisfied with MGroup’s work and with the platform itself.

How did MGroup perform from a project management standpoint?

We haven’t had any issues. They’ve delivered on time or early. We used spreadsheets to track the work, with no tools like Jira or Asana.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They offer a really good price-to-quality balance delivered completely on time.

Are there any areas they could improve?

MGroup has delivered on time and everything’s good, but we could have a bit more communication. I can’t complain. They’re not a big company, but they’re good at what they do. MGroup just needs to keep progressing and get more clients and reviews.

Everything’s been good, so I have nothing to add.

As we doing eCommerce website design as our main direction, we searched for trusted Shopify partner with years of experience to support us with development, as most of the time we run out of our own resources. Mgroup was a great found!

We found them through reviewing companies with Shopify experience. As I am a personal designer, the main point was a visual match with designs. So I check all websites they have done in past and was impressed by the quality.

We worked on different projects in the past years. Mostly it was the Shopify development. And on some projects we required custom solutions for Shopify, for example, custom order form, created using React technology. The process and communication were very simple and I love it! Once we sign off designs with the client, we estimated budgets and timelines with the Mgroup. Then move everything to development. After they finish the process and did internal QA, they send it for our review, which was not so huge, as they delivering a very quality product.

It varies from project to project. Mostly we communicate with Iryna (their PM) and on some technically hard, projects we have their developer in our chat, to make communication smoother between our development teams.

All was pixel perfect and great!

• wire-framing and UI design
• back-end development (using PHP laravel, NodeJS, Python)

in most of the cases, the team was within the budget and timeline. if any bugs found, they always were active to resolve all of them.

In my case, we've used a standard set of tools from Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) what was my requirement. Cannot say they have deep expertise in the scrum/agile approach, but in general, they tend to follow main principles.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

flexibility in terms of working hours (if any critical bug) they were working on weekend. It seems like they have a great team spirit and all members care about the final result.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think they have space to improve their communication with a client and be more specific and proactive if any changes on the project or some information is missing.

I hired them for multiple projects related to Shopify. One project was to build a shop for a cometics company in Japan. And another project is to build Shopify custom app for affiliate site with calls to external APIs.
