Dreamscape Immersive
Dreamscape Immersive was launching a Virtual Reality experience unlike any other. Because for many, this would be their first time exploring the world of VR, the entire system needed to be seamless and cohesive. We needed to integrate multiple platforms to walk customers from discovery to purchase to check-in and into the VR immersion itself. Our team developed several front-end systems to handle customer transactions while tying into a centralized back-end.

Body Surface Translations
Body Surface Translations, backed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, set out to create a new process to take accurate and efficient measurements of children’s body proportions in order to help identify malnutrition in at-risk children. Their mission was to modernize the existing system of measuring children around the developing world - which until now was difficult to do, and filled with errors that could frankly result in unaddressed malnutrition if data was not captured correctly. MEDL is helping BST to fulfill their mission by developing a product that can improve the health and well-being in children worldwide.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder and CMO of a FinTech company.
What challenge were you trying to address with MEDL Mobile?
We were working on a FinTech app for iOS and Android devices with another developer, but they weren’t delivering what we needed. We approached MEDL Mobile to complete the project.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They started the project by fixing coding errors left over from the previous developer. We had a wireframe and some existing APIs already, which included Braintree and a backend database. They corrected a lot of broken functionality, and we’re now working on the interface and design elements ahead of deployment. We’re also adding new APIs from other sources.
What is the team composition?
I worked with them when they were at another company. I was familiar with their background and their work, so I felt comfortable approaching them to work on this app.
How did you come to work with MEDL Mobile?
We work with a team of seven to ten people, made up of a mixture of designers and developers. I’m not sure of the exact makeup of individuals, but correspondence includes about that many people.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in February 2019 and hope to deploy by the end of April 2019. We plan to continue a maintenance contract with them after we launch.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We monitor their work as they send it to us. They provide very detailed information, and we're happy with the results so far.
How did MEDL Mobile perform from a project management standpoint?
They're easy to work with, especially compared to our previous contractor. We have a weekly call with our main point of contact, and we can reach out whenever we have questions and expect a quick response. They take our suggestions, and I'd give them a high rating for their work.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have a lot of experience building a variety of apps in several industries. They've learned from their previous projects, and they know the answers to our questions before we even ask them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We're still in the middle of the process, but we haven't caught any red flags. I don't have any weaknesses to point out at this time.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Come with a clear vision for what you want to do, and communicate everything you want. They're very open to ideas, so, if you have a clear goal, they will complete your project efficiently.

Please describe your organization. What is your role and responsibilities?
Our company is Butterfly Me. We are a studio that performs makeup services. I’m the founder and president.
What was your goal for working with MEDL Mobile?
We wanted to create an app that could connect our different studios as we continue to expand. We started specifically with Apple products, so the iPhone and iPad. MEDL Mobile helped us develop our website as well. We’re opening our first two studios this year with the hope of rolling out nationally. The app was a vehicle for providing a place for clients to see the menu of looks, make appointments, and a way to connect the services they’ve gotten at one studio to other studios as the chain grows.
What was your process for selecting MEDL Mobile with which to work?
We considered four other companies. We went with MEDL Mobile because their pricing structure was better than the others. Their presentation walked us through and made it transparent what the process would be. It was the most understandable.
Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms or a personnel work-hour figure?
Our partnership with MEDL Mobile is ongoing, but the estimated final cost will fall between $50,000 and $200,000.
Is there anything unique or special about MEDL Mobile that really makes them stand out compared to other business partners?
I will say that I’ve been very appreciative of how creative MEDL Mobile is and how flexible they are. They brought so many other ideas to the process and those have made the app a much better tool. They’ve got a great team.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?
Our timeline that was originally set wasn’t met. Part of that was on our end. I just needed to manage my expectations a little better. Although it hasn’t caused any negative ramifications.

Please describe the scope of their work.
The work that MEDL Mobile provided was largely iOS app development with a focus on including APIs [application programming interfaces] that could communicate with servers at UCLA.
What was your process for selecting MEDL Mobile with which to work?
We conducted an extensive RFP [request for proposal] process. We invited at least 12 different mobile vendors to respond. The committee selected MEDL. Mobile because we felt that their level of service was high and that they had a high level of interest in successfully delivering the project. In addition, compared to other vendors MEDL Mobile’s price was reasonable and the deliverables matched our requirements.
Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms or a personnel work-hour figure?
The project fell in the $50,000 to $200,000 bucket. It was a challenging project with a lot of moving parts and many different people involved.
Is there anything unique or special about MEDL Mobile that really makes them stand out compared to other business partners?

Please describe your organization.
I am the founder and sole proprietor of a mobile app company. Our app ranks sightseeing locations in various cities worldwide. Users can choose countries and cities in a world map to see the top-ranked spots. The app connects to VistaGram to get the content.
What was your goal for working with MEDL Mobile? Please describe the scope of their work.
We partnered with MEDL Mobile to develop our mobile app.
What was your process for selecting MEDL Mobile with which to work?
We chose to partner with MEDL Mobile because they really understood the concept for the app I wanted developed. When researching mobile app development companies MEDL had developed similar types of apps to the one that I was looking to develop.
Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms or a personnel work-hour figure?
The project was of substantial means and fell somewhere in the bucket between $50,000 and $100,000.
Is there anything unique or special about MEDL Mobile that really makes them stand out compared to other business partners?
MEDL Mobile really understood the concept of the app that I wanted developed. Many of the other developers I researched and spoke with couldn’t seem to get their heads around my idea.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?
The only thing I can think to have them improve slightly on is their attention to graphic design. MEDL Mobile’s coding expertise, and the development work they provided for this app was perfect.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Please describe your organization. What is your role and responsibilities?
The company is Authors on Acid Limited, I am the CEO. My role was developing the concept of the app and having the drive to move it forward. I also found the substantial investment that we needed to put everything together.
What was your goal for working with MEDL Mobile?
We wanted to partner with a firm that had the expertise on how to make a gaming app successful, not just the technological background to develop it. We could have hired staff to do it, but we wanted a partner who could help us make the game flow and provide a better user experience. We wanted to hire experts in the gaming industry, and in the mobile app industry as well as the social industry.
Please describe the scope of their work.
We have built a singular mobile gaming application with MEDL Mobile that allows multiple people collaboratively to build a story for the purposes of having fun and making your friends laugh. This game can be played remotely. The project with MEDL Mobile involved mobile app development, design, and marketing. MEDL Mobile worked with us with on the creative side of the app, in terms of design and expanding out the concepts of the game. I’m a creative person, and MEDL Mobile helped us redevelop the original concept into a game where people could win, lose, and have fun. They did a great job at developing that aspect of the app. We had to figure out how to keep the game moving and avoid the game ending.
What was your process for selecting MEDL Mobile with which to work?
We met with a lot of different companies. We looked at the work MEDL Mobile had done before, and we were very impressed with them. We felt that on the creative side they immediately got our concept. They were genuinely excited about the game. Their knowledge and understanding of the social aspect of mobile apps is impressive and very beneficial to the development aspects of the project.
Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms or a personnel work-hour figure?
The size of the project fell in the $50,000 - $200,000 range.
Is there anything unique or special about MEDL Mobile that really makes them stand out compared to other business partners?
I think they’re one of the most creative companies I’ve ever worked with. The design level that they do for their industry is pretty high. Our brand was inexistent prior to our partnership with MEDL Mobile. They worked with us to create everything. They’re a friendly business to work with. They’re very relaxed and open. They’ll give you as much time as you need. You feel like it’s a partnership.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?
No. I know how difficult mobile app design, development, and marketing projects can be. I don’t think anything could have gone better.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the digital marketing manager of a nonprofit organization for hunger relief. I manage the website, social, and other digital assets.
For what projects/services did your company hire MEDL Mobile?
Redevelop our website to offer a better UX for our users, individuals in need of food, donors, and supporters.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We selected this vendor through aa mutual relationship.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We started the project with relatively short notice, and MEDL was on board with our plan and very gracious to work with despite the timeline. They were great throughout the project. The team provided compelling designs and carried those designs accurately into development. Rachael and the team was also on call for support after the project launched.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with a team of 4-8, I dont recall everyone who was on the project.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The website design is beautiful. It was thoughtful and true to our brand.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We had fairly effective communication between teams. There were some minor misunderstandings however overall, we were able to establish a workflow that worked for this project.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I was impressed by the designs created by Natalie mostly. We were also impressed by the development teams ability to turn those designs into a website accurately.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
There were some communication hiccups, and we felt the team was a little disjointed at times. For example, we might update one team member on an item, but other team members weren't aware of said updates. We also felt like communication re: the project timeline wasn't always communicated effectively.
Overall, the team was great and did a fantastic job, but we would suggest stronger updates and honesty on where the team is on specific tasks. More frequent updates and documented timelines could kept on track by the client.
The process runs smoothly, and MEDL Mobile provides detailed information on their progress. They are easy to work with, and they leverage their previous experience to ensure their efficiency.
