Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the CEO of TUYA Digital - SEO & Digital Marketing.
For what projects/services did your company hire MCRO, and what were your goals?
As we specialize in SEO and Digital Marketing, a lot of our work regards these services. We noticed that some third-party platforms offer SEO automation services, such as keyword tracking and monitoring, keyword difficulty research, project research, SEO On page error identifying features, etc. All these third-party apps cost around 1,000 USD a month, which makes us pay 10,000 USD a year.
This is why we decided to hire an app development company to help us automate these features on a proprietary platform.
How did you select MCRO and what were the deciding factors?
We checked the app development companies in Romania on Clutch and other directories, but also we checked the top app developers in the region in the news, articles, and even blogs. We picked up 5 of the best in our price range and selected them.
The decisive factor - they are from Cluj-Napoca, a city in our country, and they offered a good price for value ratio.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They started developing all in Bootstrap. We appreciated it was a custom solution they were offering us, not a template of any kind. The first phase of the project was dedicated to understanding our needs. This was the most difficult part of the project for us, as we had to share our knowledge first and our needs second.
We also had to structure the basics of SEO into one big document, such as to be used by programmers with no or little knowledge of SEO. After that, we started in two-week sprints to cover all the features of the platforms we currently use.
How many people from the MCRO team worked with you, and what were their positions?
There were 3 developers and 1 team leader working with us, but we were in contact with the team leader on an almost daily basis. There were zoom meetings with the whole team every two weeks, during which we tried some new features installed, came up with new ideas, etc.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The project is ongoing, as we decided to add more features to the platform since we started the project together. Meanwhile, we were able to use our proprietary platform and drop a few of the features from all the other platforms we use. This brought us a cut in spending by 35% every month.
In a year's time, we could cover the costs for the development of this project by this reduction.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Usually, we hear each other over the phone, on an almost daily basis, but every two weeks there is a zoom session where they share the progress. There is a team leader to keep in contact with us and he answers directly to us.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They develop everything from scratch, not using already-developed templates or any scripts they used in the past. Also, their fee is affordable for a medium-sized company and for the nature of the project we asked from them.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No, we are happy with their style and with the quality of their work.

Custom Software Development for Solar Energy Company
"Overall, our sales processes are a lot more streamlined, thanks to MCRO."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the software product manager at a solar energy company.
What challenge were you trying to address with MCRO?
None of the available proposal software in our industry had the features we wanted, so we sought to build our own software.
What was the scope of their involvement?
MCRO provides front- and backend app development. We give them the features we need through software development tickets, and they proceed to set it up for us. The app is available on iPadOS and Android. Our sales reps use it to present proposals, and our customers can then sign a contract through the app. All information is stored on a database that the MCRO team built for us. We continue to update the software.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with 5–10 teammates, including senior developers, junior developers, backend developers, and a UX designer. The number of people working on the project depends on our needs.
How did you come to work with MCRO?
MCRO actually reached out to us. They seemed trustworthy and knowledgeable, so we worked with them on a demo project. When they did a good job, we decided to work with them on a bigger project.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $1.2 million–$1.4 million.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in March 2019 and is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Since we started using the software, our business has grown by about 70% each year. We’re delighted by the amount of customization that the MCRO team has done for us — if we need any new features, they can quickly add them. Now, we can use a single software throughout the entire sales process instead of using 5–6 different programs. As a result, our sales representatives have been a lot happier, and our sales team has grown because it’s so easy to train them to use the software. In addition, the time it takes to conduct a sale has gone down to 1–2 hours from an average of 4 hours. Overall, our sales processes are a lot more streamlined, thanks to MCRO.
How did MCRO perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve done a great job with project management. We use a Jira board to create a priority list of what needs to be done first. Then, they’ll make the corresponding tickets and manage the project independently — the MCRO team is very self-sufficient. They’re also very proactive when it comes to reaching out if they have any concerns.
Furthermore, MCRO works fast without sacrificing quality. Their code is always clean and passes our QA processes. We have stand-up meetings thrice a week where we touch base on what they’re working on and discuss what we can improve on. However, the team is open to chat any time.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The team is very future-oriented — they’re always thinking up ways to improve the software. As much as possible, they want it to be a very streamline software, so they do a thorough, thoughtful job. They’re always looking for ways to improve and write the best software possible while remaining cost-efficient. At this point, the MCRO team is very in tune with our code and our processes. I can tell they really care about the project.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have anything critical to say — they’re a stellar team.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Ask them for advice. MCRO is a very knowledgeable and friendly team that will help you reach your goals. I highly recommend them.
Although the platform is ongoing, MCRO is able to add more features successfully. The client is happy as the added features of the platform helps reduce their cost every month. A communicative partner, they are active in providing progress updates to keep the client on the same page.
