Fleetrover
This project monitors the parameters like Speed, location, temperature etc., of trucks & trailers. Its an web app developed in the ROR platform. This project is mainly developed for monitoring of the trucks and the trailers by large transport companies in which they have to monitor 100s of them.
This will be done by installing a device in the truck and/or trailer which has to be monitored. The device will act as a sensor and send the parameter details to the cloud server from which the data will be transferred to our server through Socket connection.
Once the raw data has been received in our server, the processing of that raw data will be done and the corresponding values will be stored against each table. These values will be displayed to the frontend web app, in which the user who is monitoring these can set threshold limit, know the location of the truck etc., This has helped many truck companies to efficiently utilise their resources and monitoring helps them to have their assets in control.

Bubbleology
Bubbleology is a well known UK based coffee shop which marks its presence in U.S.A, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, U.A.E as well. We are currently working on iOS and Android apps for them.
With the app a user will be able to order a refreshing drink for himself. A variety of “Bubble Teas” are available for the user to choose from.
Sign up / Login: A user can sign up or login using Facebook or Twitter.
Payment: The app allows different payment methods to the users enabling them to choose what is more comfortable for them. Braintree payment gateway has been integrated in the app to facilitate payment. User can also order a drink through the app, go to the store in person, show the pick up code and pay there.
Loyalty program: Earn one loyalty point for every tea purchased and after successful collection of 9 loyalty points get the tenth tea for free.
Store Locator: The app uses GPS to hint the user about the nearest store and also locates the store on the map making it easier for the user to locate the shop.
Favourites: The app also allows users to favourite their most liked teas and the nearest stores.
Soterria Seizure Alert
By installing this application you’ll be contributing to help improve a soon-to-be released seizure detection and monitoring service. The Soterria application will also email and text your friends and family (that you enter as Caregivers) that you’re having a seizure – and when possible – will send them your approximate location. It also puts out an audible alarm to give instructions to anyone near you – so that they might help keep you safe during a seizure. When you push the “Help, I’m having a seizure” button, if your mobile phone is near you, this app will record the shaking pattern of your phone and upload that information to a central server. The information collected is anonymous and will never be provided to anyone else. The data will be used to better distinguish when you may be having a seizure, and when you may just be tapping your foot to a good song. Right now, this application does not detect when you’re having a seizure – but when it does, we’ll give you three free months use of our service just for helping us now.

The features which have been carried out by us here is the management of the projects in which some of the iBeacon devices will be configured. Controllex develops IoT [Internet of Things] products that are mainly focusing on home automation and security. Mallow Technologies has been the software development team of my product.
I am the founder and CEO.
What challenge were you trying to address with Mallow Technologies?
I was looking for a software company that can create iOS and Android applications and that has a good background on how to build a good backend in the cloud. Mallow has the expertise and the know-how. We established the first steps together and it has been successful since then.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed the backend on Ruby on Rails. They create applications on iOS and Android. They made the iOS portion on Swift and Objective-C and Android on Java. They have been working on connecting with many different platforms. They have a special PHP team that developed PHP products or output. They’ve been connecting with a lot of platforms using many APIs. They have created their own APIs on how to connect different clients and different applications to the backend.
How did you come to work with Mallow Technologies?
At first, I saw them on Upwork. We’ve talked together on Upwork. It was an hourly based contract where we asked about a specific request and they provided after confirming a certain time of hours. Eventually, we shifted from our previous practice to a dedicated hours orientation where we have dedicated resources all month long. Controllex is not only a product. It’s more of a platform where we plan to connect many hardware types to the platform for both home automation and security. We asked them to have dedicated recourses all month long.
How much have you invested with Mallow Technologies?
We have invested $60,000 to $100,000. Up to now, we’ve reached $60,000 and I’m planning a bit more development by the end of 2017.
What is the status of this engagement?
I think it was in October 2015 that I delivered a few small tasks to them.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
I don’t have numbers or any type of indicator that shows how good or bad the product is. In general, they’ve been matching the standard of Apple and Google in terms of client development. In terms of backend devices, they’re working well so far. I think they have a good understanding of the industry and a good amount of depth in terms of understanding the projects that they’re developing. They have a good background and their teams are experienced. I’m only a startup. I’m not the one to evaluate whether their practice is good or not.
They’re working to match iOS and Android standards. We’ve been working together to develop on many platforms on iOS, not only the iPhone but the Apple Watch and the Apple TV. We plan to launch on Apple Car as well. Same thing with Android. Our current existence is on nearly all the platforms and we plan to expand to all the platforms at the same time.
How did Mallow Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve been very good. Any project will definitely have turbulence. In general, they’ve been delivering good effort in developing my projects. However, we did have a few challenges, but in general, they’re always taking initiative towards solving an issue.
What did you find most impressive about Mallow Technologies?
The way I identify if the company’s service is good or bad is by the output. They’ve been delivering a good output. I had a few experiences where freelancers or companies ditched the project in the middle of it. When they start developing and we’re half way through, they stop working or stop delivering on time.
Mallow Tech has been focused. I like that about them. They are increasing the amount of resources and they’re fulfilling any gap very fast. I think they’re better than other freelancers on the internet like on Freelancer.com or Upwork, or any platform where service providers are providing services. They’ve been really good. I’ve been rating them with complete satisfaction of their work.
Are there any areas Mallow Technologies could improve?
The only thing that I find challenging with Mallow Tech is that their pricing is very high compared to the market. Overall, they’re trustworthy.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a startup based in Amsterdam, developing a platform for proximity mobile engagement. It's a Software as a Service cloud platform hosted on Amazon Web Services. The idea behind our platform was to provide a simple way to create mobile-optimized content which is delivered at the point-of-sale to people interacting with products. It allows companies to connect with customers digitally.
I am the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Mallow Technologies?
We needed help to develop our platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Mallow Technologies provided initial consultation regarding what platform would be best suited for our company and our use cases. We also considered scalability and client management. Ruby on Rails was chosen as the best technology for our software, given that it provides faster development times and is easier to support.
I created a list of action points and communicated to Mallow Technologies the features that we wanted them to build. I approved designs, and we proceeded with development. We initially used DigitalOcean, but have moved to Amazon Web Services for hosting our backend.
We have worked with a designer, a business analyst, and 2 developers from Mallow Technologies.
How did you come to work with Mallow Technologies?
I searched for developers on Upwork and spoke to a few of them. My specs weren't completely clear-cut and nailed down, so I had a few questions on how I should approach the work. Most developers didn't take a lot of time to review the requirements the particular project, but Mallow Technologies had an honest approach and gave me straight answers. I felt that Mallow Technologies was more serious in responding to my request and that they would be capable of doing the work. Mallow Technologies' CTO [Chief Technology Officer] was very involved in the initial process of defining the project, and they provided the best value for the money.
How much have you invested with Mallow Technologies?
The total cost of our project with Mallow Technologies was between $10,000 and $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Mallow Technologies in 2015, and the project had a 15-month run. There was a period of customer testing in which Mallow Technologies wasn't involved, but we came back to them when we needed to develop new features.
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
Mallow Technologies is very good in terms of engineering expertise, especially backend development. They have a very experienced team, able to follow some of the most complex requirements from our side.
How did Mallow Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Mallow Technologies was very good at communication and responded promptly. One of the most important things to consider about freelancers is that they tend to overpromise and under-deliver. In Mallow Technologies' case, we were told upfront about any additional time required to develop a feature.
We have used Basecamp for project maintenance and management. Mallow Technologies followed-up on all milestones and comments we entered. The whole team on Mallow Technologies' end, including the project manager, collaborated with us on the platform. They were also available on Skype.
What did you find most impressive about Mallow Technologies?
Other companies could have delivered the same type of work as Mallow Technologies, but they stood out in terms of honesty. Development and testing hours were clearly logged, and we were billed according to a budget set for each phase, which was almost always respected. Mallow Technologies told me in advance whenever there would be a need for extra hours for a particular task. Humility and honesty are crucial in choosing a freelancer, and were present in Mallow Technologies' team, from their CTO to the developers.
Are there any areas Mallow Technologies could improve?
I asked Mallow Technologies for more testing on the code before delivering it, and they quickly rectified this. Everything is thoroughly tested now.

FleetRover provides telematics data to trucking companies, helping them manage their fleet. I am the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Mallow Technologies?
We were building a first version of our dashboard. We had a feature-set which we needed to meet in order to onboard customers.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Mallow Technologies developed our software using Ruby on Rails and AngularJS. The backend architecture involved multiple event-processing technologies. We receive raw event data from hardware, and have processed over 85 million events through our system so far.
How did you come to work with Mallow Technologies?
I don't remember how I initially found Mallow Technologies, but I'd worked with them on past projects, and found that they were the most appropriate team for our work. Mallow Technologies had a strong skillset in the area which concerned us.
How much have you invested with Mallow Technologies?
The total cost of our project with Mallow Technologies has been between $50,000 and $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Portions of our work have been completed, but our collaboration with Mallow Technologies is ongoing.

The best feedback which I have for Mallow Technologies is that they're quite autonomous. Other development shops in India, and generally overseas, will have a more tentative behavior, which pushes back timelines. Mallow Technologies makes good decisions, and they make them on their own, when it's necessary. This has been a huge advantage in helping us push the project forward.
How did Mallow Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Mallow Technologies has provided regular updates, requirements documentation, and when needed, they got on a call with us in order to ensure that the project remained on-track. Mallow Technologies is especially diligent in terms of resourcing. I can come to them with an aggressive deadline, and Mallow Technologies will figure it out, determining if it can or cannot be resolved. All the deadlines provided by Mallow Technologies have been accurate.

We are Reef App Development. We bring in anybody that needs application or website development or anything software related. We contract our work out to other companies.
What is your position?
I am the CEO and founder.
What business challenge were you trying to address with Mallow Technologies?
We've done contract work with Mallow Technologies, so we've done different applications with them. TimeLedger was a time and expense-tracking application that we created their mobile app for. We also have a dating app, BeLinked, for more professional people. Severus Holdings is the product that we developed for them that was for payday lending. They lend out money for 36 per APR [annual percentage rate].

They've provided design work, wireframes, back-end development, iOS and Android development, and web apps.
How did you come to work with Mallow Technologies?
We met on Elance, which is now Upwork. I've been doing this for years, so I was vetting through different companies, and I came across them. The CTO and CEO are brothers. Initially, it was them and three other people. They were very small. They did great work for us. We continued going with them because they've been very consistent. The quality of work was great. Now, they've told me they have 57 developers. I highly recommend them. If there is an issue, they make sure to fix it.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
Their rate is $25 to $30 an hour. It can fluctuate from 200 man-hours to 500 man-hours. One of the bigger projects we've done is closer to 1,000 man-hours, and the total is $50,000 to $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I've been working with them six years. It's ongoing work.
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
BeLinked was the startup phase we did. If you look on their app, the last time they uploaded an update for their app was about a few months after we stopped working with them. That was back in 2014. We did good work with them. We've done good work with Severus Holdings and TimeLedger who are still clients of ours.
How did Mallow Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Mallow Technologies did great. They introduced a new tool we had never used before, which is Asana. It made everything more efficient. It was a great experience.
What distinguishes Mallow Technologies from other providers?
It would be their bandwidth and being able to handle things on an emergency basis. They're very good with that.
Is there anything Mallow Technologies could have improved or done differently?
They're doing a great job. I'm still working with them.

The scope of our project dramatically increased beyond two developers and we brought Mallow in for staff augmentation in development. Over the next 4-5 months, our confidence grew in Mallow and now they complete all development tasks for our ongoing project.

In the beginning, we had our small development staff which Mallow augmented, and with nearly a 12-hour difference, we were able to sustain round the clock development switching back and forth between timezones to bring our product to market quicker.

A project manager was our main point of contact. We have two full stack engineers and a front-end engineer working as needed.

Instead of taking a year to meet product market fit - it has literally taken less than three months to deploy requested features. Mallow has been tremendously flexible as we reprioritize development as we hear from customers and prospects.

Because of the time difference, we have heavily relied on Slack for timely messaging and coordination. (though we have had a handful of calls) Also, Mallow has started later in their day to overlap a few hours with our staff to full coordination on ongoing stories or help with deployments to Production. This has been invaluable!
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
When we first engaged with Mallow in January 2021, they did not know Tailwind CSS, but over the course of a few weeks, they had become experts in the framework, and now I believe it is their CSS framework of choice. It is amazing how they adopted and became fluent so quickly!
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
None. I am 100% pleased with Mallow. They have become a true business partner that I can rely on to perform without worry and deliver without hesitation.
