Originally, the scope was for MYC to assist with existing content workload as our Content Editor would have done. This included researching and generating new content ideas. 

But after a few successful months, we extended this scope to include more brainstorming sessions, two LinkedIn newsletters, design work, and downloadable content – as well as the blog posts we originally brought MYC on for. Now, we normally pick four or five blogs from MYC’s monthly ideation and get those up within a couple of weeks.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Before working with MYC we were limited to in-house resources and the hours in the day that we had. While we’d worked with agencies before, they struggled with turnaround speed, amends, and couldn’t take on feedback effectively. But since working with MYC, our content output and quality has increased considerably. 

When it was just our in-house Editor, we would only have time to publish maybe two or three non-SEO blogs a month. Now, this has doubled. We’ve also increased the type of content we’re creating – downloadable PDFs, newsletters, social posts, blogs, extra design work, and more. I’ve been especially impressed with MYC’s ability to research and interpret a topic creatively, and originally. They’ll never just blindly copy content from another source – something we’ve had issues with before.

MYC goes above and beyond what a typical content agency would do. The team does much more than just write a few things – they’ll edit, generate designs, brainstorm ideas… and they do it all much quicker than we’d ever expected. They make sure that the workflow process works for us too. 

We have weekly meetings with MYC’s Client Services Manager, who has been an especially big help with organizing everything – she keeps things running smoothly in our shared Trello board and Google Chat. But beyond that, the wider team also makes time for extra meetings if there is a topic that requires a little more research or effort.

They work extremely quickly and are able to pick up our tone and voice almost instantly. They really take on our feedback as well, so we never have to repeat ourselves about frequent edits or topics to avoid. 

The Client Services Manager’s organization skills are particularly impressive – she always goes the extra mile. We were delighted that she came out to DTX, an industry expo that we were speaking at, to watch the speech that MYC had helped write come to life. Overall, we consider MYC as equal partners in content – working with us, not for us.

I struggled to think of anything specifically here! The only thing that would be good is for the writers to have even greater technical knowledge about the specifics of our business, like cloud infrastructure, types of servers, web hosting, etc. But that really is the only area for improvement!

Our work with MYC began with a monthly email newsletter and two blogs, plus a quarterly case study. As time moved on and Apple news became more unprecedented, we realised that we could gain value from longer-form blogs and credits used for additional case studies and reactive content. 

We were so pleased with what MYC had produced that we decided to partner with them when we rebranded in 2019 – which included a new website with fresh copy. We wanted our website to hone in on our values. Their copy clearly conveys these, and speaks to our target audience of ambitious businesses. 

In 2020, Apple stepped up their unanticipated announcements, which increased our need for reactive content. Our pieces became more dynamic and diverse with lockdown-focused stories.

We’ve seen tangible success through the reactive content they’ve produced for us. Now, people view us as a source of Apple news and thought leadership. We always say in our content that we’re Apple enthusiasts, and the constant churn of content we push out through MYC ensures we can substantiate this claim.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have numerous ongoing projects with Making You Content, but one aspect we’ve really focused on is populating our website with blog content. This can vary from two, three, or four blogs per month, depending on our needs. Now that we’re uploading regular content to our blog, we’ve seen increased traffic to our website. 

Additionally, we embedded our email strategy in June, also with the help of MYC. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback from our internal team, our clients, and our candidates. One of the most impressive outcomes is the LinkedIn Newsletter. We launched this back in January 2023, and we now have more than 133,000 subscribers – over a third of our LinkedIn database network. It’s great to see the interaction and engagement as a result.

When I joined Capsule, we were a team of just four people; though this has now grown to 20, we’re still what you would consider to be a very small team, so it’s amazing that we’re managing to make such noise within the insurance sector.

hap provides flexible staffing solutions to a range of industries. But this wasn’t always the case – in 2016, hap exclusively staffed festivals and events. Our team of three supplied bar workers to over 70 festivals and events within the year – a massive accomplishment for a start-up. We’ve since rebranded to work with more sectors, including stadiums, hospitality, and theme parks.

Now, with over 75 head office staff, we provide anything between 10 to 1,000 staff members to venues across the UK every year. As the Associate Director, my role is overarching across many departments of the business.

It’s really hard sometimes to quantify the success of social media content. But we do know that since we’ve been working with MYC, our brand is more recognisable and memorable – especially with the work they’re doing for our LinkedIn profile. Our clients now come to us and express praise for the content MYC produces. One of our biggest clients recently approached me and said, “Wow, what you guys do on social media is great!”.

Prior to working with MYC, we did nothing on LinkedIn. We’re now winning contracts and new clients just for having an active social media presence. We don’t pay for online advertising, yet we receive enquiries every single day from new clients coming through the website from organic sources. MYC has been a big part of this.

We have an incredible amount of people calling and messaging us directly from blogs, white papers, and emails written and sent out by the team at MYC. We now have a lot more time to focus on other important aspects of our business.

The initial focus of the scope was developing thought leadership content to help cement Voicescape’s status as market leaders in collections for social housing. MYC got to work on planning, developing and launching an end-to-end whitepaper campaign, which got the ball rolling on our lead gen activities and set the standard for further thought leadership to follow.

They’ve since helped us introduce our other digital solutions to the market: Compliance, Feedback, Wellbeing, and recently, Collections for Local Authorities. This has involved supporting us with a unique messaging hierarchy for local authorities, and rolling this out across brand assets and promotional materials. Since working with Making You Content, we’ve seen a 250% increase in web traffic and managed to bring 779 new leads into our pipeline. On LinkedIn, we’ve increased our followers by over 320%, influenced 13,000 contacts, and achieved a 9% engagement rate. We’ve even secured a £105k contract directly from a single ad. It’s safe to say that Making You Content has been central to refining and delivering our content marketing strategy as we’ve grown over the past 18 months.

We have bi-weekly meetings with their director, copywriters and social media manager to ensure everyone is on the same page when it comes to project deadlines and goals. We also communicate with their team via email and Trello on a regular basis and they give us frequent progress updates. We were looking for strategic and tactical support for the delivery of our content marketing, including blog posts, research papers and case studies. Our goals were two-fold. The first was to ramp up the amount of case study content on our website for sales enablement purposes, particularly in our target sectors. Myself, the marketing team and our CEO still carried out research on other potential suppliers but didn't think any of them were as good a fit as Making You Content.

After setting out the scope of the work that was required, I had a call with the team at Making You Content to flesh out our ideas and set out concrete timescales for delivery. Throughout, the team provided a useful steer on how best to approach our content strategy, providing invaluable guidance on where elements could be improved and what areas would be best to focus on.

After the initial call, we prioritised the creation of case study content for one of our most recent clients. A call was quickly and proactively set up with one of our account managers to talk through the client partnership with Making You Content's content writer. From this, a case study was drafted in double-quick time, within 48 hours I believe.

The team and I were extremely impressed with the quality of work considering the turnaround time and only a couple of tweaks were necessary. We then provided Making You Content with a fleshed-out brief for our content series, kicking off with a 1000 word blog post.

Again, this was turned around rapidly with excellent suggestions in terms of tone, structure and content. They grasped the purpose of content almost immediately and this was reflected in the high quality of the output. As with the first case study, only a few minor tweaks were necessary from the first draft. Upcoming work will include another case study and further blog content with more work likely to follow.

The composition of the team has remained consistent through the whole process with their copywriter, director and operations manager all present on ideation and discovery calls. We have also worked directly with the same copywriter throughout, ensuring consistency of tone and quality, and providing a single point of contact.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As content marketing can take a long time to bear fruit, we are still in the early days of monitoring the impact of the work that Making You Content have carried out. Despite this, we've had excellent engagement on our social channels to the initial blog post with a noticeable increase in reach and impressions.

Feedback internally has also been exemplary. Bounce rate on the case study content they have created is lower than on comparable case studies on our site while time on the page is also markedly better.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The copywriter who was assigned to our project has been very easy to work with. They were always available to bounce ideas off and worked well with both me and the wider team. As mentioned earlier, the speed and quality of output was also exemplary.

Similarly, the wider team, which includes their director and operations manager, have always been available when we've needed them and have provided vital input and ideas for the project. They're a lucid, forward-thinking team who really know what they're doing when it comes to content marketing. No complaints!

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They clearly know what they're talking about and have their finger on the pulse when it comes to content marketing. Also, for such a small team, their turnaround times are seriously impressive and that expedience doesn't come at the cost of quality either!

They were also quick to get what we're about as a company and what we're trying to achieve with the project, which had significantly in making the whole process run smoothly thus far.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Maybe initially it wasn't quite clear what the setup would be in terms of team structure and who we should be communicating with when it came to progressing the project. But, really, that's a very, very minor point in what has been an excellent experience. Genuinely cannot fault their performance or output!
