Introduce your business and what you do there
I’m the former HR and learning manager of an international financial institution.
What challenges were you trying to address with MAGNETICO?
The goal of the area I was leading was to create and improve everything related to online learning and content. As a result, we hired Magnetico to help with the development of our educational platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
MAGNETICO developed a web platform that would be accessible 24/7. We wanted it to be intuitive and offer a Netflix-like experience. They enabled us to upload different formatted resources from videos, pdf, podcasts, among other things. They then programmed the platform to make suggestions and allow our employees to track their progress.
What was the team composition?
We worked with a project lead, a commercial manager, a UX designer, a graphic designer, and a team of developers. The number of employees they provided changed during the engagement, and it went from 10–12 to 15.
How did you come to work with MAGNETICO?
Our HR department that was in charge of all technology-related hires had MAGNETICO in their database. The team was part of the database because they had already previously worked for the company.
We contacted different service providers. After that, we had a licitation and ended up choosing MAGNETICO’s team because they had the best proposal and evaluation. Their first project with us was a performance evaluation platform. Since we liked their work, we decided to work with them again.
How much have you invested in them?
We probably spent $50 million ARS (approximately $507,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The project began in September 2020. The project had three stages; the first one lasted three months and the other two stages lasted six months each. I’m no longer working in the company, but I believe their engagement is still ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We had a very big project, and it had a great impact on our business. It would be hard to give statistical information, but we did have a steady increase in the number of people who visited our platform month-over-month (MOM). Our employees were also satisfied with our company’s growth and training program; in the past, we always received an evaluation below eight, but that increased up to 8.8 through MAGNETICO’s work.
How did MAGNETICO perform from a project management standpoint?
MAGNETICO’s project management process was flawless. They were always very clear and flexible — we never really encountered any issue during our partnership. Our relationship was very cordial, and they always met every deadline.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their greatest strength was their commitment, passion, and professionalism in producing high-quality projects.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I honestly wouldn’t know what to say on areas they could improve. MAGNETICO was always available and showed great dedication to the project so my feeling after the project was very positive.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm a CIO of a retail company. We have 30 branches across Buenos Aires province in Argentina and an online store.
For what projects/services did your company hire MAGNETICO, and what were your goals?
We had lots of troubles with our current POS solution and integrations with third parties. We hired several teams for our different problems, being the most important the POS team, but we also work with Magnetico on integration systems (API) and we're about to start an App project soon, related to a new business unit of the company. We mainly use Java, React, PHP and NodeJS technologies.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We selected this vendor for our POS project considering two other vendors. Due to the good results of this first project, we continued selecting it for other projects.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They evaluated our current POS solution and the problems we had. They proposed a new kind of solution, based on cloud technology, maintaining our functional requirements and covering others we couldn't achieve with our previous solution (mainly client-server software on each location). They simplified the interfaces and gave us a much more responsive system. As a result, we have fewer systems interruptions and more information for our business.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
There are five people in the POS team; a PM, two developers, a tester QA and a UI/UX designer. For our integrations, we have a PM and two developers. For our next project, we'll have a similar team to the one we have for our POS project, although using slightly different technologies.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We were able to launch the electronic invoice processing system and we have our API implemented, working on new features daily. We couldn't implement the POS system yet, due to internal organizational problems, but we're working on it. We expect to gain in performance as we can guess from the pre-implementation test we've conducted. Also, the new technologies used, allowed us to evaluate a completely new business unit that would increment our sales by 25%, according to our estimations.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Magnetico approaches an agile methodology. We have two-week sprints and determine the priorities during our weekly meetings. When problems arise, we are alerted as soon as possible. We use Redmine, GitHub and Slack.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We have a fluid communication with the PMs, but we also have meetings with the whole team from time to time. It's good to know the people you work with.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Sometimes the deliverables are not tested enough. We didn't contract sufficient testing hours anyway, just one half-time tester for the POS project.
