Digital Marketing for Publishing Company
"They didn’t know how marketing works — they were just running a hyped scam."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a publishing company.
What challenge were you trying to address with LYFE Marketing?
We needed help in digital marketing.
What was the scope of their involvement?
LYFE managed our social media and email marketing campaigns.
What is the team composition?
I worked with an account manager and a project manager.
How did you come to work with LYFE Marketing?
I saw them on a TV show, and they also came up when I was looking for marketing companies.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent over $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in December 2020. Our contract runs until February 2021, but I’ve already terminated our partnership.
Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.
LYFE’s work negatively impacted my business. They missed the mark on who our audience was. They failed to deliver, and their work was so poor in quality that they even misspelled some content. It was as if they were deliberately trying to fail.
How was project management handled?
We constantly had to remind LYFE’s team about their tasks. Their approach was predatory — they were no where as good as how they were described on their online reviews. I just didn’t pursue legal action because the contract amount wasn’t worth the trouble.
LYFE started missing deadlines as early as the second week of our engagement. They hid behind excuses and delivered terrible work. I informed LYFE that I was displeased with their services, but they insisted that I was on a contract with them.
The issue escalated to their senior leadership, but nothing happened.
Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?
I don’t have anything good to say about this company. There was nothing right with our partnership with LYFE. They didn’t stand by their word and contract.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They didn’t know how marketing works — they were just running a hyped scam. They always blamed somebody else for their failures, and they never took accountability for their work. They didn’t even have a way to measure their success — they couldn’t provide any metrics at all.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Call one of their references before engaging with them. That way, you’ll know their work doesn’t accomplish any results and that they don’t have the necessary processes for a successful partnership.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Clater-Kaye Studios.
What challenge were you trying to address with LYFE Marketing?
We’re a new company and we needed to create and design a website that looked more than just a brochure online.
What was the scope of their involvement?
LYFE Marketing not only helps us with design and creating the website, but they also create ads and help us market in a more efficient way through Google and social media. The ads they create are videos to help people get to know our business, as well as integrate us into Google SEO. The team also helps us with general branding.
What is the team composition?
We work with Anthony (Business Development Specialist), Morgan (Account Manager), and two others.
How did you come to work with LYFE Marketing?
They had good reviews and were able to do everything we were looking for. I looked up the websites they had done in the past and matched them with what we were looking for. I liked that they did both marketing and web design.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested between $5,000–$6,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in February 2021 and the work is still ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The reviews that I’ve gotten from people about the site have been phenomenal. People really love the site and it looks very clean and professional. In my opinion, I think the site looks amazing and I love the work that they’ve done. We’re still new, so we’re still trying to build a following. We’ve actually gotten some people outside the country to reach out to us, which is really cool because we didn’t expect to see that until much later down the road.
How did LYFE Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
They have a LYFE Marketing portal on their website that we do most of our communication through or via email as well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very quick with their responses, which is great.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Our industry isn’t as well known, so I think it was hard to understand.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Add on new things as you go and spread out your budget a little bit as opposed to putting everything on in the first go.

SMM & SEO for Barbecue Pellet Manufacturer

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re Knotty Wood Barbecue Company. We manufacture almond wood barbecue pellets. Recently, we created plum wood pellets too.
What challenge were you trying to address with LYFE Marketing?
We’re a small company that launched in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. We had to reach our customers and needed help reaching the largest audience possible.
What was the scope of their involvement?
LYFE Marketing works on social media advertising, PPC, and SEO campaigns. They not only manage ad space on Facebook, Instagram, and Google but also design and create ads for us. For any initiatives on social platforms and Google Ads, their team’s our partner.
A home improvement company offers our products for free shipping. LYFE Marketing had to come up with ways to capture users through the Facebook Pixel and send traffic to our website but also drive traffic to the home improvement company’s page.
What is the team composition?
We primarily communicate with our account manager. He works with designers, but we don’t directly interact with them.
How did you come to work with LYFE Marketing?
We did a broad Internet search because we previously worked with local agencies but wanted to partner with a company that had a broader reach across the US. We had a super helpful call with a salesperson from LYFE Marketing. He immersed himself in our brand before we even talked on the phone. He made a thoughtful presentation with ways the LYFE Marketing team could help us.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $3,500 on their services so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in February 2021, and our partnership’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their team has exceeded our expectations. In the last month, we literally tripled our sales. Right off the bat, sales have accelerated to such a great extent. As we haven't even reached barbecue season and achieved these results, I’m really looking forward to seeing what they can do in the rest of the year.
How did LYFE Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
We have weekly meetings with our account manager via Zoom and use Google Docs, which works with our internal systems. We constantly have discussions about where campaigns stand and sales updates because we don’t have visibility into sales from the home improvement company’s website. Their team’s giving us updates about sales and search terms every day.
What did you find most impressive about them?
For the size of the organization, I’m surprised that LYFE Marketing's truly hands-on with their customers. I previously worked with companies that treated us as just one of many clients. We always feel like we’re LYFE Marketing’s only client even though we’re not. Every single day, their team’s invested in our project
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we’re so incredibly thrilled with them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Give their team all of the information they need upfront to help them understand your company’s challenges and goals. Communicate your needs and then ask a lot of questions along the way.

Social Media Marketing for Apparel Company
“They need to improve the quality of their work; I was quite dissatisfied with the ads they produced.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of an apparel firm.
What challenge were you trying to address with LYFE Marketing?
We needed a partner to handle our social media marketing.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They used software to prepare and run ad campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
What is the team composition?
I spoke with a salesperson initially, and then we worked with a couple of people on the project.
How did you come to work with LYFE Marketing?
I saw their paid ad online.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $1,500–$2,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from August–September 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They used templates to create the ads and they weren’t well-designed. As a result, we didn’t make a single sale from their campaigns. They didn’t follow the directions we gave them and didn’t target our ideal audience as we discussed. Rather than targeting specific zip codes, they ran nationwide Facebook Ads.
On top of that, they didn’t follow through with Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest to figure out how to do campaigns according to their guidelines.
How did LYFE Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?
There was no project manager and no customer service. They didn’t seem to know what they were doing and they didn’t seem to care. They regularly missed deadlines and their communication was nonexistent.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The salesman was a nice person; he the only person who gave me confidence in their capabilities.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They need to communicate with clients, especially if they’re going to miss deadlines. They need to improve the quality of their work; I was quite dissatisfied with the ads they produced. They took no responsibility for running ads to the wrong demographic and refused to return any of the money we had paid. They actually blamed me for the lack of sales.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure to protect yourself in the contract by having a penalty provision for lack of execution.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CTO for an ecommerce store who is leveraging new technology to provide consumers with enhance online experiences.
For what projects/services did your company hire LYFE Marketing?
We hired LYFE Marketing to do online advertising on Google, Facebook and Instagram.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to drive more quality traffic to our website and mobile app.. and increase our email subs.
How did you select LYFE Marketing?
Our top priorities were quality and price. We had alot of things we wanted to accomplish, so making sure we could get quality volume out of our budget was essential.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
Mmanage your advertising campaign(s) on the social media platforms associated with your package. We will also manage up to the maximum ad spend, campaigns, and advertisements associated with your package.
Additional ad spend, campaigns, or ads above these limits will result in an automatic upgrade according to the ad tiers above. Our service includes ad creation and development, monitoring, and optimization. Ad development includes the creation and publishing of advertisements.
Ad monitoring includes routine checks on the performance of your ad campaigns, Monday through Friday. Optimization includes all efforts to increase the rate of results. This may include the development of new ads and A/B split testing. Please note that your advertising budget is not included in our management for social media advertising.
What was the team composition?
I had one main point of contact, an marketing manager named Adam (who was amazing btw). I mainly talked with him, but he would often refer to his team working on this, which was a graphic designer and I believe another marketing associate.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I am quite knowledgable on running advertising campaigns, but they were definitely able to improve where I started at. I would admit that in the beginning I was worried because there was little change.
But after a couple of months, both our CPC and CPL decreased as a result of some better positioned ads. The growth % fluctuated, but I would estimate it led to roughly a 30% increase from where I was.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
I thought it was effective. Relatively simple honestly, I gave them the room to do the work and was able to get hold of my contact usually within 24 hrs.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They are quick to adapt and very responsive. Due to the pandemic, I had lots of doubts and questions... they remained with me every step of the way.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I have nothing, but good things to say about this company. They've helped us grow even throughout a pandemic.

I am the CEO Founder of an e-commerce company and digital website.
For what projects/services did your company hire LYFE Marketing?
Social Media Marketing and Management, and email campaigns and management.
What were your goals for this project?
Target specific buyers and profiles, increase engagement and sales. Build brand awareness.
How did you select LYFE Marketing?
Online research.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
This company is a total sham. Misses deadlines, causes coding errors, loses emails, and does zero effective buyer profiling and target marketing. Missed my launch deadline, a holiday promotion deadline, an email marketing campaign set up deadline, and did not adjust any of my marketing spend to a more detailed target audience after I expressed concern.
Paid for 2 months of complete garbage, then blocked them from my billing card. I actually had a "supervisor" snob come on the phone and tell me missing deadlines and losing emails or delays were all "part of social marketing". Said it like she really believed it also!
Delivering your clients everything delayed is an acceptable way of doing business to this company, as long as they eventually do it, who cares when it's done. Glad this supervisor does not own her own business or she would be out of business.
Actually, it's probably why she doesn't. I asked for a refund of half my total spend and for a campaign never activated and was told they would be "kind enough" to let me out of my contract early and not charge me a third month.
Like with all these red flags in the beginning, anyone would want to continue on and have more consistent errors with their money?
Currently filing a complaint with the BBB and disputing all of my charges for their total lack of respect and accountability now, I was actually hung up on for voicing my concerns and was told by this supervisor she " could not deal with an escalation, or deal with threats". WTF are you doing in a supervisory role then?
Requesting a refund for services not delivered, in the manner they should be delivered in, in the time frame they are supposed to be delivered in is a threat to this company.
Do not give them your money or hire them for your social media marketing or management and email campaigns, unless you want to be told you are a threat for voicing concern over your hard earned business money.
Already with another company who gave me 2 fully detailed presentations, and laid out an entire marketing plan to target my exact needs, audience, and demographics. They also have not missed any deadlines as you would expect from an actual business.
Wish I could remember the supervisors name to put her out there, but she probably will be fired for doing a crap job with clients soon anyway. By the way the boss, has zero balls to speak with upset clients as well, good luck with any escalations in that area if needed.
What was the team composition?
Sales Manager who gave a generic presentation and proposal, and an Account Manager. I never spoke to anyone but her on the team.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I saw zero results and they consistently missed deadlines.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Communication between us was not the issue.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They got Marcus Lemonis to appear and endorse this piece of garbage company.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Telling clients that delivering things consistently late is an acceptable way of doing business "as long as it gets done" leaves some room for improvement.

I am the Founder and CEO at an Eco friendly company
For what projects/services did your company hire LYFE Marketing?
To launch and manage our Facebook campaign
What were your goals for this project?
To break even within 2 months and see profit in 3rd month
How did you select LYFE Marketing?
I selected them based on the reviews and the sales rep promising they would deliver
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
They were interviewed and a sales person sold us on the idea that they can pull this job and I then purchased a consultation with their senior consultant and he also gave me confidence that they can do it.
We are a company that sell both on Amazon and our own website. We started working with Lyfemarketing for our facebook marketing and worked with another company for our Amazon PPC management. We have followed whatever Lyfemarketing asked us to do, we agreed to their proposal ad spent and even hired them to create a high quality video which was outsourced through another company.
What was the team composition?
I worked with a sales person, account manager and marketing person
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Lyfemarketing failed to generate a single sale while on Amazon we have received 320 sales in the same 4 months period. The only part of the project that we were happy with was the video they made which was 100% done by another company. My account manager confirmed that. For Facebook Ads you have these creatives, it could be an image or video. The video was created by that video company and Lyfemarketing was provided with lots of images and they put together a very fake and ugly creative.
Then their ad strategy is laughable at best. I have done facebook ad myself before and by going through multiple courses I know enough to laugh at the strategy that they were using. I kept discussing this with the Facebook ad "Specialist" and she kept telling me that this is what everyone does, and I yet to find even one other expert or company recommend their ad strategy.
They were not getting any results based on metrics which is complicated and I won't go into it here however I kept telling them they are not getting any result because the strategy is wrong and they are bringing the wrong type of traffic. They basically made one set of adsets day one and didn't touch it for a month.
Any ad expert would tell you when it comes to Facebook ad you need to analyze the result, change the copy, change the creative, change the targeting AT LEAST every 3 4 days. Leaving this whole thing for a month is a joke. My product was priced competitively and was selling 100s of units on Amazon and this company could not get a SINGLE sale.
If I was not getting any result on Amazon I would have understood that maybe our product had a high price point or did not have market. But sales on Amazon prove that this simply was not the case and not getting a single sale proves Lyfemarketing should not be trusted with your project. Save yourself 4 months (Yup they push a contract) and find a proper agency or learn it and do it yourself.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Not effective at all
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Nothing about this company. But the video creation which they used another company to do it was nice.

Owner of an online e-commerce company
For what projects/services did your company hire LYFE Marketing?
- Social Media Campaign
- Website Development
- Email drips
- Graphic Design
- Landing pages
What were your goals for this project?
The goal was to begin branding our company through the Facebook community. Then we would branch out into other platforms
How did you select this vendor?
After speaking with several companies we decided to go with them based on some reviews we read online. We always try to avoid any negative reviews and look for the positives. The people who reviewed them well spoke highly. The original representative had all the answers and was very friendly
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
They were to create a social media campaign. They were to create marketable graphics based on the photos we provided. From their we would use these images on the landing pages they were supposed to create. We would then obtain emails and use those to begin our email marketing campaign or to show customers why our products are worth the purchase.
Additionally, they were to provide unlimited web development services whenever our company sent in a request. Restrictions did apply. They would take all of this and a pre-determined allotted marketing fund and begin marketing throughout facebook with ADs and campaigns and boosted post
What was the team composition?
From my understanding, the team was originally composed of a Business rep who would transfer me to a project manager. From there the project manager would handle everything unless I needed to speak with the Business rep.
I am unsure exactly because when we started the Business Rep handling our case was let go and we were left in a void with no contact until a little while after our initial contact day.
We then spoke with one of the owners who called to apologize for the situation and immediately worked to get us with someone that day. Which they did :-)
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We can definitely speak to the companies ability to take limited resources with photos and creating a look and feel based on conversations and forms we filled out. We had worked with other companies who were unable to accomplish this. They really nailed how the look and feel for our graphics.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Overall the workflow was not too effective. We had weekly phone calls for about an hour where we would go over everything which needed to be completed. However, on many occasions, we would have to re-explain what we were asking for. We had to re-explain what needed to be done.
We also had to stay on top of tasks to be completed. There was no Project Management software during our brief time with the company. Mostly everything was done via email. You have to make sure to take notes during your conversation in order to ensure everything you talked about is accomplished.
The point of the conversation was for their team to listen in on what needs to be done and then complete the task. Which we assumed meant they would be taking notes. So, either they were taking notes and not following through on everything or they were trying to remember what needed to be done.
They would be far more effective if they were to utilize a project management software to better keep track of the what can end up being thousands of documents, reviews, changes, and communications in one place for better referencing
What did you find most impressive about this company?
We found their ability to take limited resources and churn out in the first draft conceptual images which really nailed an image and brand we were going for. We were unable to take it any farther to really see what else they could do which is why this is mentioned twice in this review
Are there any areas for improvement?
Yes. The company needs to improve on its ability to manage tasks, assignments and accomplishing what they say they will on time. Missing deadlines is a big area for improvement. Consistently missing deadlines and not communicating prior to missing them was the number reason for our separation.
It is very difficult and costly to call meetings for employees and set aside time when the company would miss the meeting with no prior notice. It may have been okay if we could have the meeting on the go on our phones, but we have to physically be in front of a computer. This means you will lose your own personal time and the cost of an employee or manager if they have to come in for the meeting.
Additionally, deadlines were missed on a regular for ads or graphics with no prior notice. We would have to get a hold of them to see what happen only to discover it would take longer.
Again, this would be fine but when we are on a strict deadline for shopping seasons and such it cost us money every day we are not live with the campaign. Especially when the deadlines exceed weeks past. So definitely there is an area for improvement in communication and meeting deadlines
We do want to mention that this review is not meant to disparage, defame, or denigrate the reputation, character, image, or service of the company, but to speak of our experience in a constructive way. They did a great job creating work. They just need to improve on deadlines and communication

Please describe your company and your position there.
Project Manager for Engineering Company. We were formed by industry leaders whose previous experience in telecommunications left them with one clear goal in mind: to rid wireless carriers and vendors of the problems that hamper their ability to effectively compete in the marketplace.
For what projects/services did your company hire LYFE Marketing?
We hired LYFE Marketing for website design, social media management, social media advertising and google display retargeting.
What were your goals for this project?
We have a long sales cycle, our goal for our online campaigns are to stay top of mind. We wanted to target a very specific group of executives which we were able to do with their service. Anytime, our target audience was on Facebook, Google or LinkedIn, we wanted to make a positive impression. LYFE Marketing helped us accomplish this and more.
How did you select this vendor?
We first heard about this company by word of mouth, but we didn't have a need (or thought we didn't) for their service at that time. While learning more about digital marketing, we decided to give social media a try. We searched and found LYFE Marketing. That's when we knew that this company was skilled at marketing. That is what led us to choose them because their marketing presence was great.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
I am pretty hands off when it comes to the management of our accounts. I gauged their marketing tactics based on the results. When we started to close more deals and I heard people telling me how impress they were with our marketing then that justified everything for us. Overall, they create content and publish it. They also optimize campaigns and make sure we are reaching the right people.
What was the team composition?
We have been a client of LYFE for a long time, at least 4 years. We have worked with alot of their specialist over time. We have one point of contact and know they have several other specialists that help with the management of our marketing.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
I had several clients (at the time prospects) who gave us a lot of positive feedback on our marketing along with personal friends. Because our sales cycle is so long (between 6-12 months) this initially feedback meant a lot. Then after a while we saw our business grow YoY which we attributed to the increase in online activity.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
I fully trust this team, so we let them handle everything. Occasionally, we need to update billing or give feedback on their ideas. We never have a problem getting in touch with our main point of contact.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their consistency is really impressive. Everything always is on time and on schedule. We never had a problem in the last four years of working with them.
Are there any areas for improvement?
There are times when we spend more than we anticipated in our advertising (usually about $50-100). I think this is more on Google and Facebook's billing structure, but if they could control that better than that would be great.
