Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the convener of the PR committee at the Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA). We’re the peak body representing patent and trademark attorneys in the country, and I’m responsible for lobbying strategies related to innovation policy. I review legislation and speak with policymakers about it.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lumapixel?
When I came into IPTA, I wanted to produce a short video related to influencing innovation policy decision-making.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our project involved recording interviews with three presenters in Sydney and Melbourne. I was in charge of content and arranging the presenters, while Lumapixel engaged with the crews for each of those cities.
The presenters were interviewed in successive sessions. Once the interviews were completed, Lumapixel cut the videos and edited them together. Gary (Managing Director & Founder) created the final cut, which should be compelling to politicians and policymakers.
Currently, we’re working with Lumapixel to make another short video for a new project.
What is the team composition?
Apart from Gary, we’ve also worked with other members of their team, including a cameraman.
How did you come to work with Lumapixel?
Lumapixel was already engaged with IPTA to do some paperwork when I started at the organization. They also shot a corporate video at another patent attorney firm I was working at, and they did such a good job. On top of that, their pricing was highly competitive. As a result, it was logical to engage with them for IPTA’s video project.
How much have you invested with them?
The IPTA project cost around $8,000–$10,000 AUD (approximately $6,000–$7,000 USD). We expect our current project to cost about the same.
What is the status of this engagement?
The video project for IPTA lasted from September–December 2018, but our engagement for the new project is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re a nonprofit organization, so it’s difficult to say quantitatively whether something has come out of the video. However, we’ve had a goal in mind, and the video has exceeded our expectations. It’s been edited impressively, and everyone says it’s fantastic. Overall, we’re happy with the way the product has turned out. That’s a good indication of Lumapixel's performance.
How did Lumapixel perform from a project management standpoint?
We’ve had no problem at all. Their project management skills are fine; I’m the one who’s had problems. For instance, the first project has taken a bit of time only because finding presenters has been quite challenging. Overall, everything they’ve done — from arranging the crews to making sure they’re on time and can complete tasks — has gone off without a hitch.
To communicate, we use emails and phone calls. We’ve also met in person to do the recordings.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’ve already used them a couple of times by now and the videos they’ve created exceeded our expectations. As a result, we feel that they’re the right partners for IPTA and any of our video projects.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there aren’t any.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Since projects vary so much, the amount of Lumapixel’s contribution also differs. As a result, you should have a clear idea of your goals. Set objectives, and have an idea of how you want to achieve them. Communicating these goals to Lumapixel is helpful because they’ll understand what you want to do. That way, they can provide valuable input around reaching the project’s goals.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and director of Vine Digital, a digital marketing agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lumapixel?
One of our clients required a video series for social media promotion and internal company goals.
The customer initially wanted a series that could serve numerous purposes. One of the purposes was to use the videos in retail and partner stores, like on a TV screen for people in waiting rooms. The other purpose was for these same videos to be shortened and posted on Facebook to drive engagement and traffic to the website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Lumapixel was responsible for the video production, which included ideation with the client, storyboarding, scripting, production, and postproduction. They did live video shoots and recruited all of the necessary people for the videos. We had influence over digital marketing on the project, but Lumapixel produced the video series.
They produced a lifestyle video series for a contact lens producer. These videos were intended to showcase the contact lenses' durability and everyday usage possibilities. The videos were all in situ, showing people working in kitchens, recreating outdoors, and other activities.
What is the team composition?
I worked with three people, including Gary (Managing Director & CEO), a producer, and another employee I believe was a production assistant.
How did you come to work with Lumapixel?
I met Gary at an event and was very impressed with him. I looked at Lumapixel’s portfolio, and it was amazing; they had a lot of big brands on their books. My client was also a big brand, so I knew they would be a good fit.
It was mainly the CEO’s passion for his craft and business, and the desire to go the extra mile for a client, that made me choose them. I looked at some of their competitors, but Gary was very inspiring and trustworthy; it wasn’t a hard decision to make.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested about $40,000 AUD (approximately $31,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement lasted from February–April 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The aim of the project was to drive brand awareness, increase social media engagement, and boost website traffic. They hit all of those KPIs. The client was immensely satisfied with the project. They were extremely happy with their work and have carried on working with them.
How did Lumapixel perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management was first class. They didn't miss any deadlines, and they maintained continuous communication through emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The most impressive aspect was their breadth of experience across different sectors. They've produced videos from helicopters for the Sydney Olympics. They also do commercial and charitable work. Their adaptability to any scenario is what separates them from other companies.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It’s not my position to say as I’m not a videographer. I am a project manager, and I can’t fault their project management skills.
Any advice for potential customers?
Allow the team to do what they do best, which is creative storytelling. As with most creative people, I’d recommend using a general set of guidelines to give them an idea of what you want and what your goals are.

For what projects/services did your company hire Lumapixel?
We needed to work on everything from virtual and live events to thought leadership pieces along with large scale asset and property portfolio videos.
These videos included everything from live action filming and photography to post production editing and graphics, drone helicopter and aerial content.
What were your goals for this project?
To transform our in-person events to live webinars and have key assets showcased during the events. ie. 30 sec video's for each fund which included drone/ ground footage of our key assets.
How did you select Lumapixel?
We went to market for a COVID solution and Lumapixel were the only company who were able to deliver the content for our live events and also be on the ground to capture the assets we needed.
In addition, their services included full video edit, already having all necessary raw footage on file - which really came in handy for the webinars. Having one vendor to tackle everything really strealined the process for us.

Once we locked in Lumapixel we sat and planned the next year out. This included all the new video content we needed to capture to update our fund videos (with new building aquisitions) along with our quarterly webinars and leadership pieces.
They attended a one day workshop to fully understand our brand and ask our brand team specific questions relating to video and brand guidelines. They have delivered over 15 asset videos and 16 fund videos along with 4 webinars and 6 thought leadership short clips.
The turn over has always been short as our results are released 5 days before our webinar. Lumapixel record the webinar and get it to us within the week (including edits) knowing that is one of our requirements! Amazing team work!
What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?
Lumapixel provided a 2 person crew for the webinar recordings, an editor and post-production manager. The recordings of the assets also included a helicopter pilot for the drone footage to be captured. We went through 3-4 rounds of feedback with them and worked very well together.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Each quarterly webinar attracted over 500 investors to dial in (a 20% increase from our face to face events). We were also able to use the fund videos to launch our social media campaign.
The internal team now have video footage to show during their presentations and they have received incredible feedback. Investors are very interested in seeing the hero assets on video as opposed to just in photos.
Our brand team love the fact that the videos reflect the brand which has a very human approach. Our old videos were just of buildings but Lumapixel managed to capture people and movement (even during peak COVID) in line with the guidelines.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Lumapixel have excellent communication lined. The team is really transparent and expectations are set way in advance. There were also times when we needed something to be finalised urgently and they were very helpful in speeding up the process.
We are able to put all our edits through their collaboration system Frame.io which works very well!
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their understanding of our brand, the high intensity of the business and really quick turn around made Lumapixel a stand out. Their range of services, expert knowledge, and the quality of what they do are impressive.
Their new brand messaging is all about sharing ideas. The quality of the ideas and vision they bring to transforming perceptions and illuminating ideas is outstanding.
Are there any areas for improvement?
During COVID it was hard with people working part time however, that was understandable and has since changed.

We hired Lumapixel to create a set of videos which could give supporters a taste of what our school programs are like and see the impact they have in young people's lives.

We selected Lumapixel because they gave me confidence they could get the job done, to a high high standard in a short time frame. The team was also incredible helpful and efficient and they were flexible with price to hep us with our limitations as an NFP.

We started with a discovery phone call and then we prepared a written brief for them to work from. Lumapixel then came back to me with a timeline and production plan. The shoot went over two half days to produce two long-form videos.

We worked with one point of contact to hash out the initial plan and timelines, and they remained our key liaison throughout the post-production and feedback process. Platforms used to give feedback were incredibly easy to use and changes were take on board with good understanding and made quickly.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The stakeholders were super pleased with the product and are excited to roll it out to galvanise more support for our organisation. The content captured is also fantastic and we will be able to repurpose to make more engaging content for different channels.

Lumapixel has an excellent project management style, clear communication, streamlined processes, fast turnaround times and platforms which make collaboration and feedback extremely effective and efficient.

We were as reactive as possible in our communication (phone calls or emails). The feedback process was great and made easy through the online platform Lumapixel is using.

Since the start of our partnership with Sydney FC, we have decided to extend this partnership and might ask Lumapixel for help in the future.

For what projects/services did your company hire Lumapixel, and what were your goals?
Our practice is a bit different to most accounting businesses. We aim to break the stereotype that people see in accountants, but to do that we needed to produce marketing that highlighted our brand and point of difference. There are some common accounting questions which we are asked a lot and we wanted to help explain the issues, whilst at the same time making it fun and informative.

I know the vendor through regular networking and seeing other videos that the company has produced.

We met to discuss the needs and subjects of the videos, time length for each one, scripting and so on. From there I was sent regular updates and screenshots of items in the video for feedback. Any comments that were made were discussed and altered as appropriate. The videos were produced in the good time period.
Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?
I worked with most of the team at some stage of the process. The feedback was very good, allowing me to know what stage the production was at.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
All feedback from clients and referral partners has been excellent. The most common word we hear is "so different" which is exactly what we wanted.

The management style is relaxed but meaningful. They contacted me when they needed further guidance or feedback, but did not hound me with too much information. They followed project deadlines and were a pleasure to work with!

To showcase and tell our brand story building a connection with our customers. We also use Lumapixel to help bring our advertising to life via animation through social ads and external billboard campaigns.

We took them to Rwanda to film a brand story and 12 individual content videos which really showcased the brand, build a connection between the consumer and coffee grower and allowed us to share our brand story to retailers and wholesalers.
On other occasions we brief them on building assets that showcase a product in an engaging way to help us reach customers via social media and our digital campaigns, linking to our values as well as showcasing the product and its key USP.

I've worked with quite a few members of the team and they have always been receptive, engaging and work to a high standard as I personally, have high expectations and goals and expect the same from agencies I work with. They have always delivered.

We reached out to them and the director Gary came out to meet with us to go through our project. He gave us some great ideas. Within the next few days we had a team shooting the content and then the post production team got to work. We were often kept in the loop with revisions sent back and forth on a great online system whereby we could give feedback easily.

The first video is a marketing style video, whereas the other three comprise interviews and imagery that show Educators and families in action. The process was very smooth and professional.
Considering that we were working with children the team were very mindful of their needs and ensuring that they felt comfortable.

I was given links to access the videos and provide comments and feedback. It was quite easy and straightforward.

We have had extremely positive feedback about the videos and we are using them in our advertising campaign, which has had great results.

It was generally pretty good. We discovered that there were challenges in terms of miscommunication by email and the comments on the videos, which were rectified by a chat over the phone.

For what projects/services did your company hire Lumapixel?
creating videos that brought the cocoa farmers of Ghana to life in the home and supermarkets of Australia.
What were your goals for this project?
Shoot enough content to create at least 10 videos of different aspects of the Sustainable Cocoa initiatives in Ghana. That included both video and stills.
How did you select Lumapixel?
word of mouth via a friend that runs a coffee business and he also took LP to Africa. they knew the climate, lighting, transport issues and equipment needs. they had capability and creative talent and really got the brief.

We agreed in advance the rough themes and shot content around these themes. on location LP shot a lot of other spontaneous content that was like gold. Back in Australia they found a translator and created 8 different videos. they did an amazing job. find the work on YouTube under Darrell Lea channel.

the videos were excellent. we even created special Africa packs featuring some of the characters we met and their story. we created a series of videos used on social media and in just one day raised $16,000 thanks to the excellent video content.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Brilliant work. we are still using the videos and the stills 2 years later.

seemless. They did all the work and made it all so easy.

the quality of the work and the fact that they were so matter of fact about it. no airs and graces. when in the middle of Africa they captured great content.

The video has been praised by everyone, and the client has been happy with Lumapixel’s work. They’ve exceeded the stakeholders’ expectations so much that they’ve been engaged to create another video. Overall, the team has proven to be the right partner for the organization’s future projects.
