US Postal Services promotion VR experience
Lucid Reality Labs created VR promo experience for US Postal Services.
Lucid Reality Labs created a Virtual Reality experience as an entertaining fairy tale that immerses the users into the world of the ancient castle, the dragons, guarding the treasured gold and stamps.
What Lucid team did:
- We’ve used the assets from the 3D stores but not only optimized them but also added real-time lighting, texturing and shaders to make them look realistic in Oculus Go.
- We used an HTC Vive and its controllers to simulate and record the movements of the 3D dragons asset. This allowed us to make the dragon fly in a natural way.

ADHD VR Simulation (Education)
Lucid Reality Labs created a solution in Virtual Reality (POC) where the users would be able to feel how kids with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) perceive the world to raise public awareness on how to help such patients by means of experiencing their feelings.
Lucid Reality Labs developed a conceptual virtual reality simulation for Oculus Go where users can
step into the shoes of an ADHD diagnosed kid.
- VR experience called Feeling ADHD was designed to capture and simulate the experiences, emotions, and
reactions of a third-grade male student who is diagnosed with ADHD.
- Four distinct distractions occur inside a third-grade classroom. These common distractions, while unique unto
themselves, can occur at any time during the experience. They are not designed to occur in any sequence, but
rather as the user chooses. Visual and audio cues call the user’s attention to the various distractions.
- The experience has a distinct beginning and ending, but the classroom experience (i.e. the distractions) will
occur at the user’s will. When the user looks around the room, his/her gaze will trigger the distractions
- The simulation architecture has been elaborated in a flexible way which allowed tweaks and edits to achieve
the best results.

DreamOS VR environment
We developed a solution to meet and collaborate in a virtual environment, a kind of Slack in
VR, a place where up to 10 people would collaborate in the virtual space. We made stylized virtual environments to host the meetings and the user's 3D avatars themselves.
Lucid Reality Labs has elaborated a complex solution which included:
— Several virtual meeting rooms which feel whimsical, delightful and approachable but not fantastical (clients requirement): one indoor, one in nature and one - in a structure.
— Ensured that all virtual spaces are immediately relatable. The users know exactly where they are, and yet feel as though they are somewhere new.
— Created 10 user avatars where the seating position of each person feels comfortable and natural.
— Allowed users to collaborate together by means of communication, gestures and displaying the info on the screen

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there?
European Marketing Manager.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
We needed to have a mobile app developed for healthcare professionals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We explained the overall need and how we were seeing the navigation into the app and the functionalities. The app is intended to support clinicians when they are screening newborns to detect risk of congenital heart defect, by calculating a score according to a clinical protocol and display the result. It would also notify the clinician when one of the tests has to be performed again, and when.
Lucid was also able to directly speak with our IT department with regards to the technical side of the project and data privacy, and adapt to our corporate imperatives.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with four people, mainly project managers. Recently, there have been some changes in team members.

AR/VR Dev for Biopharmaceutical Company
"Lucid far exceeded my expectations, and they were fantastic to work with."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a Public Affairs Partner at Roche Products Ltd., a global biopharmaceutical company. My work involves engaging with policymakers to help enhance the healthcare system, and working with patient groups to support and partner with them, and bring their voice into the business.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
We are focused on raising awareness about the importance of eye health among politicians. It’s not something that gets a lot of noise, yet it’s so central and pivotal to everyday life and human experience.
As part of our drive to raise awareness of the challenges in eye health and drive policy changes that we and our patient group partners wanted to see, we needed someone to build a tool for us that helps people understand what it was like to have an eye condition. We wanted to leave an impact and create memorable experiences for people. We also needed guidance as to which technology (VR, MR, AR) may best fit our needs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Lucid created a combination of products for us. Our main product was a headset that created a mixed reality experience of what it was like to have an eye condition.
We gave Lucid a list of symptoms and videos showing what it is like to have these conditions, so they knew what we wanted to recreate visually, and we designed an interactive experience for users using this tool.
The products are already completed, but we have Lucid’s support until next year if any issues arise.
What is the team composition?
We communicated directly with Alex (CEO) and Alyona (Project Manager). Ivan (Lead Technical Consultant) and a larger team worked on the software.
How did you come to work with Lucid Reality Labs?
I had never done this kind of project before, so I went to Google and I found Lucid through a listing on Clutch. I checked out their website along with other providers, and we narrowed our choices to three vendors.
We talked to all of them to pitch, and we initially awarded the project to a company we had worked with before who understood how pharmaceutical companies and our approval processes for compliance work. We eventually ended up going back to Lucid, and we explained the project and our situation. They agreed to take on the project, and I’m pleased that we went back to them — I wish we had chosen them earlier.
One of the reasons we shortlisted Lucid was their impressive website. There was a particular video there that showed a virtual patient being intubated. I found it appealing, very engaging, and being medical it seemed relevant to what we may want. In addition to this, the calibre of the clients on their site added to their credibility.
What is the status of this engagement?
This was a one off project which lasted from July–October 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We didn’t have any quantitative metrics in mind for this project, other than it being completed by the deadline and having a tool to use at our event. However, I can share feedback from our disease awareness event for policymakers:
The first thing people wanted to try as soon as they came into the room was our headset and they were encouraging their colleagues to try the tool as they were impressed by it. Everyone who tried our tool felt what people with eye disease go through, most of them commented on how disorienting or horrible it must be, and asked what they could do to help. Many of the tweets from attendees featured comments or photos of them trying out the experience with the headset on. The tool drew people in, created a memorable experience, and got across what it was like to have these conditions. The response from attendees to the tool and the engagement it drove exceeded my expectations.
Additionally, we had patient groups that we were working with on the event, and they were so impressed by the headset, they even asked to borrow the headset for their events - we consider that a huge endorsement of Lucid’s work.
How did Lucid Reality Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
Lucid were amazing at project management. They were responsive, and we felt like we were their only clients. We are in different time zones but they would get back to us quickly even outside of their business hours, usually providing responses within minutes.
We set up a group chat on instant messenger, and that was our main way of communicating. Outside of that, we had emails and standing weekly calls for half an hour to raise issues and check in on progress.
They were determined to meet our deadline — they worked late and weekends to try and make things happen. Every time there was a challenge, they were transparent and kept us informed. There was a point where we were ready to give up and move to a back up mobile app solution, but Lucid pushed through and even flew over a replacement headset from Ukraine to London, and they didn’t charge us for the flight and transportation. Had they not done that, and we just went with the mobile application, I know we wouldn’t have achieved the same impact. The key thing about the headset was eye tracking, and that truly got across what happens when you have an eye condition: the visual disturbances follow wherever you look.
Lucid far exceeded my expectations, and they were fantastic to work with. They would be my first choice if we had any similar projects, and I would easily recommend them to anybody.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were determined and responsive. Unlike other providers, they took the time to understand our brief and what we were trying to create. Additionally, they were determined to deliver even when we were ready to give up.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Nothing significant.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear at the outset about how you want them to work with you and behaviours you'd like to see. Be explicit that you want honesty and transparency; at least if you have that, you can plan accordingly as any issues come up rather than being told what problems there were when the project is done or deadlines aren't met and you're not quite happy. Sometimes providers may hide these challenges until later, unless they know you want to hear them.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Worldwide Sr. Product Manager for Hemostasis Laboratory Automation, responsible for managing the world’s largest Hemostasis workcell installation base, which features the industry-leading testing system.
For what projects/services did your company hire Lucid Reality Labs, and what were your goals?
The equipment used in Laboratory Automation is significantly larger than standalone testing equipment so space visualization can be a challenge. The application enhances the experience for our customers by showing them the custom designed solutions proposed by our workflow specialists, so they can easily envision the space and how their workflows will be optimized in the future.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We searched online and shortlisted developers based on positive customer reviews. After interviewing, we ultimately chose Lucid Reality Labs as they incorporated our needs the best into their proposal, were the most detail oriented and provided a very competitive estimate.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
A VR app has been developed from scratch based on our inputs on what works best in the 2D and 3D software we use today. We established a multi-phase approach with key milestones in each. Examples as well as 3D CAD models were provided to the technical team to develop so far 27 main modules, 40 accessories and 6 main structural components in our first Phase which we are now currently testing prior to entering into the 2nd phase and adding additional components and functionality based on test feedback.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Our main point of contact has been with the Project Manager who has been extremely professional and well organized, she facilitates calls when necessary with the development team as well as integrating other individuals for troubleshooting when appropriate. Additionally we have had contact with CEO, CTO & COO during the process for various touch points in contracting and gauging our satisfaction through development.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We are currently in the testing phase of our 1st of 3 phases of development, however have shared internally with our organization. The feedback has been extremely positive thus far, the quality of the renderings and the VR experience is impressive. Our marketing and sales teams are anxiously awaiting the release to begin work with our clients.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We have a regular cadence of video calls with the project manager, and schedule as needed through the development for questions and feedback. Communication is mainly through email and these scheduled calls on zoom.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The team is highly professional and responsive, the deliverable is of a very high quality as well, we have been very satisfied with the process and work thus far.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
The only recommendation is around testing, but the availability of devices due to back orders has been a challenge for both of our organizations. Their communication and deliverables' quality have been excellent.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the senior marketing communications specialist at Medtronic.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
We needed help with content strategy in order to increase sales and drive awareness.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We worked with them on a series of video animations for our products. Their team helped us recreate the old videos and update them technically. They also created the 3D animations as views of our products.
We provided them with a little script writing and high-res product images. They were able to create a video animation out of that.
What is the team composition?
I’m in contact with the account manager and a video designer.
How did you come to work with Lucid Reality Labs?
It wasn’t easy to find a good supplier. We asked for references. One of our marketers was in touch with someone who recommended them.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement with Lucid Reality Labs started in August 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We had such a good experience that we’re keeping them involved. The Lucid Reality Labs team has some advanced skills.
I appreciate their high-quality output. I’m satisfied with them.
How did Lucid Reality Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management approach is great. They’re proactive, flexible, and professional. We’d agree on a deadline, and they’re always on time.
They create summaries from the calls. We’re working in a regulated business, and sometimes, we have a lot of things that need to be implemented. They were really flexible on this as well. We have regular meetings. We also use email and phone calls for explaining things. We share files on OneDrive. They’ll have access to our project management system in the future.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The quality of their animation design is impressive. They’re very good at it.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Since we hadn’t worked on many projects together, it took a while for them to pick up our brand guidelines. It’s nothing serious, but something that they could work on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s easy working with them. Give them good details on what it is you want.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of an AR and VR application company based out of Oman and India. We develop apps for clients.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
We do certain projects in-house and outsource others. At this time, we’re in the process of developing a prototype of a concept that I’ve come up with. We’ve established what its target will be and how it will be positioned in the market. We specified what should be included in the prototype based on that.
What was the scope of their involvement?
As per our scope, Lucid Reality Labs is developing the prototype. There’ve been many challenges in education in the context of COVID-19, and our idea addresses those using the latest technologies in the AR space. It’s a platform that can help people make presentations more effective and immersive.
At this point, it’s more of a conceptual prototype that hasn’t reached the MVP stage. We need to develop it to a level at which it will be understandable to various investors. MVP development will start once we get the right kind of feedback.
We’ve used Unity, WebGL, and HTML.
What is the team composition?
My first interaction was with Eugene (CTO). Once we came to a clear understanding of the scope and the proposal was made, they allocated a project manager.
He’s been the main point of contact during the development stage. They also have someone handling the finance part.
How did you come to work with Lucid Reality Labs?
I connected with them through Upwork. Along with their professional client approach, I found Lucid Reality’s availability and responsiveness to be better than other candidates.
I spoke to quite a few other vendors from Upwork, and I found that Lucid Reality knew the business better than the other companies. I come from the same industry, so I know all the jargon.
How much have you invested with them?
The project is in the $50,000–$100,000 range. We’ve defined the minimal scope, and the cost will eventually go up to $100,000 or more.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Lucid Reality in early February 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Lucid Reality Labs has adhered precisely to the scope. I’m satisfied with how they’ve handled the project so far, and I plan to complete the product development journey with them.
How did Lucid Reality Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
In this respect, they’re excellent. We have update meetings every week, and we use Slack for anything that needs to be clarified quickly. I receive replies from their team within 30-60 minutes.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed by their clarity in understanding and outlining the scope. Everybody can promise that they can do this or that, but actually understanding the scope and delivering to the point is what I’ve found highly impressive with them. It demonstrates their professionalism.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have something to complain about since they’re going by the scope we’ve defined. At times, I do wish there was more flexibility.
We’ll sometimes skip out some things while planning the scope because we’re in the process of envisioning an idea. If it’s not too big a task, something that would require them to go too much out of their way or require too much resource allocation, I think there should be more flexibility for accommodations.
If they considered that, it would bring us more comfort as a client.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would definitely recommend them. It’s necessary that the client should be clear with what they want to do and what they expect from the vendor.
If that clarity exists, Lucid Reality can use their specialized field to understand the need and create a tangible product.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a partner and CTO at Powers Media, an immersive technology studio and educational content provider.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
Every year, our client, a mail service, releases a bunch of new stamps. We hired Lucid Reality Labs to build a VR experience to promote the release of their new stamps.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They used Unity to build a VR stamp gallery. Through the VR experience, users could navigate the gallery and initiate VR experiences by clicking on certain stamps. Within the experience, users could swim under the sea with sharks, view a total eclipse, fly with the bees, and observe bioluminescence.
We drafted an initial concept with the client and described what we were looking for to Lucid Reality Labs. We provided the stamp assets, but the rest was created by Lucid Reality Labs under our direction.
In addition to the work on the mail service project, they also created a VR training experience to teach people how to change a tire on a car. They also did another experience to teach about climate change.
What is the team composition?
We worked with 3–4 people. Eugene (CTO) was very key in the process, and I think there were a few other project managers that worked with Alex (CEO).
How did you come to work with Lucid Reality Labs?
I found them on Upwork. I interviewed about six prospects, but I liked what Lucid Reality Labs had done before. They had all of the capabilities we needed and were a good size.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from October 2018–June 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The experience was shown at various stamp conventions and many people enjoyed it. There was a tremendous amount of support, interest, and excitement about the experience.
How did Lucid Reality Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
They were communicative and accessible. They were amenable and easy to work with, especially during the editing phase of the project. When we had to change things, they were able to adapt to ensure that everything went smoothly.
They were based in Ukraine, so we communicated over Slack, Skype, and WhatsApp. We usually collaborated with them using our Slack channel.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They understood the project and were very responsive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We had no issues.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be as transparent and communicative as possible. Teach them what your ultimate goals are and hold them accountable.

What is the team composition?
I worked with Eugene (CTO) and Alex (CEO).

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of Wild Dots Communication. We offer property technology (PropTech) and digital marketing for real estate.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
We wanted support with our real estate solutions.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve done quite a few projects with them. Lucid Reality Labs provided solutions to help new home buyers understand what new developments were going to look like in the future.
They provided mobile AR apps for iOS and Android to allow the new home buyers to understand the space that they’re living in by projecting the space in front of them. They did everything from scratch. The only thing we provided them was a set of architectural plans.
The team also provided us with similar services for us to win certain bids. We were in competition for certain projects with our clients and our clients were looking for some different out-of-the-box solutions.
Additionally, we’re designing an online home configurator where new home buyers can configure their home online. They can configure a space and choose materials from the comfort of their own home on their laptop or mobile.
Lucid Reality Labs has helped us immensely with that because they have that 3D expertise, so they provided solutions to optimize the UX.
What is the team composition?
I worked with Alex (Founder & CEO) and Eugene (CTO), as well as project managers.
How did you come to work with Lucid Reality Labs?
We looked online for AR/VR solutions and came across their website. We fell in love with their website because it was really out there in terms of the ideas that they were putting forth. It caught our attention immediately. We reached out to them and asked them to have a call.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent roughly $60,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working with them in October 2017, and our engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
For the 3D project, they were able to maximize the UX for users online. If we see good results in terms of UX and user flow, we know the project has been successful. It’s been a fruitful experience.
How did Lucid Reality Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
We mainly use Slack, email, and phone to communicate. They deliver quickly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Lucid Reality Labs is extremely reliable. They’re an amazing team and they’re wonderful to work with. In general, we are a difficult client, meaning that we always come with really big challenges and complicated briefs with extremely tight deadlines, and they always deliver. So, overall, we’re very happy.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They deliver great quality and great work, but we’re always trying to tighten up our budget. That would be the only thing. However, when the work is great, you have to pay for it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Leave Lucid Reality Labs to be creative and find great solutions for you. Don’t come to them with a cookie-cutter brief; allow them to listen to your challenges and find the solutions. They will come up with something great.

AR Experience & Mobile App Dev for Gifting Company
"They were fast but also thorough."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-owner of a company that sells different products including gifts for little girls.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
We sell classic gifts for children, and that’s a busy market that has been around for a while. We wanted to introduce something a bit more high-tech, updated, and futuristic and combine that with the old classic gifts. For example, bringing a music box to life with AR.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Lucid Reality Labs helped us to produce and upload animated videos about 1 minute long. They then linked them to a target image, which was our product, and brought them onto our app.
When the gift recipient points their iPhone, iPad, or Android at the product, it brings it to life with an AR experience and projects it as if it was really in the room. They also developed the iOS and Android app for us, and they started from scratch; we only gave them a few graphics to help them with the UI.
One of the experiences, a dancing ballerina, was a 3D AR experience, and Lucid Reality Labs built and animated the model of that using Unity.
What is the team composition?
I initially worked with Alex (Founder & CEO) to scope the project. I then worked with Eugene (CTO) and a project lead.
How did you come to work with Lucid Reality Labs?
I found them through a Google search and noticed some of the work on their website I thought they were the best fit with the best experience.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from October–November 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app has a screen for people to sign up, so we’ve already collected over 1,000 emails. We can also see the number of downloads and we get reviews on Amazon and our website, and the feedback has been good. The customers think that it improves the quality of the gifting experience.
How did Lucid Reality Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
Our communication with our project manager was excellent. We were on a Slack channel with them, and they communicated every hour to give me updates. We also used email and Skype. Their communication was very strong. Lucid Reality Labs pushed me proactively, which was great.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their work speed and ethic were impressive. They were fast but also thorough. Lucid Reality Labs kept the project moving well on course with the goals, and the quality of their work was great. Additionally, the design of the app and graphic experiences was top-class.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we didn’t have any problems.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Go ahead and get in touch with Lucid Reality Labs. They’re a great company to work with. They will meet your needs, but if they can’t, they’ll give you an honest appraisal about what they can and can’t do.

Augmented Reality App. Dev. for Educational Institution
"They were proactive and happy to change things when needed."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a researcher for an educational institution.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lucid Reality Labs?
We wanted to develop an AR application for our research project that we're using to drive engagement.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They created an AR application that allows us to augment objects, specifically on iPad to provide a place to engage with products before purchase. The app allows the individual to either through an iPad or through the Magic Leap glasses to augment their objects. In a retail environment, customers are typically looking for additional information about products such as reviews and social media posts.
This app allows the individual to project or augment the object in a retail store with additional digital content. Through the iPad or glasses, an individual can see reviews as well as different customization options, price comparisons, reviews, and their social media content displayed on their screen. It allows individuals to have a holistic idea of products. They built the app from scratch for iOS and Android as well as Magic Leap.
What is the team composition?
I worked initially with Alex (Founder & CEO) and Eugene (CTO). Afterward, we were connected with a team lead and his team who were working on the application.
How did you come to work with Lucid Reality Labs?
I initially drafted a proposal and posted it on Upwork. There, I got connected with Alex who sent me a demo of a previous project of theirs. I thought this would fit quite nicely especially because it was very similar to what we’re doing.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in December 2019–October 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They did a very good job. Even though they completed the project in the summer, they continue tweaking aspects of the solution to best fit our needs.
How did Lucid Reality Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
They kept in contact with us to make sure everyone was on the same page. We met with them several times over Zoom, but the majority of the communication was done via email.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were proactive and happy to change things when needed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything. It was quite a good relationship.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have an idea before discussing things with them. Know what your end goal is. They were very good at helping us raise the bar, but it’s better for them to know what you want at the very beginning.
While the work is ongoing, Lucid Reality Labs' work has received positive feedback from internal stakeholders. The team is collaborative, committed, and easy to work with. They've also adapted well to the client's working style. Overall, they have a strong ongoing partnership.
