Please describe your company and your position there.
President and Board Chair at Boldr, the world's largest B-Corp certified BPO and PEO.
For what projects/services did your company hire Lemonat, and what were your goals?
We had an urgent need to fully rebrand and relaunch our web presence in advance of some exciting announcements to kick off 2022. We had found a partner to work with for the web design and development partnership, but they dropped the ball, became unresponsive, and strung us along. We turned to Lemonat when we were up against the clock with less than 3 weeks to take our design concept live (we lost three weeks with the prior vendor's inattentiveness).
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Lemonat was honest, thoughtful, thorough ... just all around excellent. They started with our challenge (compressed development cycle), with our business needs (website launch, new presence), and with our priorities (updated presence, ability to optimize other key experiences over time) -- and built a plan to make it happen.
They squeezed us into their development cycle. They worked diligently and vigilantly as partners. We felt like they were a true extension of our team. Most importantly, they helped us hit our goal while also working with us to rethink the project so our goals and needs were met within the constraints we were fighting against.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
It was a full website design, build and launch. What Lemonat pulled off in less than 3 weeks, directly over the Christmas and New Year holiday, while hitting our aggressive timeline for launch, is nothing short of incredible. What's more important is how they worked with us -- it wasn't just that the work was completed, it was completed exceptionally well and in the best spirit of partnership.
For example, we had days where our old site was up and our new site was live in QA; Lemonat worked with us to ensure traffic was split between the sites and only visited the appropriate pages while the others were being worked on. Operationally, it's the best website launch exercise I've been a part of. It's incredible what the combined team accomplished in weeks.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
A handful. But our primary contacts were Ugur and Elif.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The website was launched inside of 3 weeks. First goal for the website was to launch our new brand which was done successfully. All major operating metrics are materially favorable to the prior site (engagement, bounce rate, time on site). Transactional metrics are up as well -- we have already surpassed our total for 2021 in terms of applicant submissions in the first 6 weeks of launch.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
They are smart, thoughtful, and clear. They do not over promise and under deliver. They educate you on the potential obstacles and what may get in the way, while also using that to enter "how" discussions. In the end, they work backwards from your goals and constraints to build an achievable plan to support the go live of your project. I've never worked with more thoughtful partners.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Everything I've said above. They managed to be partners, operated like owners, and became an extension of our team in a few short weeks. They're unique because of their passion and partnership; they also happen to be incredibly good at what they do.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing different. They're exceptional. We had a first-class experience on the relationship side, on the strategic side, and ultimately, with what was delivered. I cannot recommend them more highly.

UX/UI & Website Design for Pastry Company
"They always try to find the best solution possible within the customers’ needs and design restrictions."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a pastry family company. I’m a third-generation board member.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lemonat?
We needed someone to help us with custom website design. Each company within the group has its own website, but we had to show the vastness of the group. We asked Lemonat to design something that would make us look like the strong group that we are.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Lemonat did the company’s website and the UX/UI design. We gave them minimal information, but we already had a basic raw design and a corporate identity in place. They used React and Next.js.
We had a kickoff meeting with the manager, and we gave them what they needed. Additionally, I sent them a little brief. By our next meeting, the team had already come up with three design ideas, which we didn’t expect. We went over everything, and they were open to change.
We’re currently doing another UI/UX project with them. They’re doing another site for one of our companies. We designed the corporate ID, and they’ve come up with a whole new design outside the brief and a corporate ID extension for it. They’ve also suggested fonts, and they’re helping a lot with graphic enhancement beyond UX/UI. We’ve had some problems with our images, so they’re producing images with our photos.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with three people, including the founder of the company. Our main contact is the project manager.
How did you come to work with Lemonat?
We did thorough research. We were trying to change the agency structure within the group, so we wanted to find a project-based company to work on the project. Also, we needed someone who’d be happy to do backend and frontend separately because we had a specific scope.
Lemonat did that, so we looked at their reviews. Since we’re both in London, we had a long talk, and then we started with the project.
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve spent around $2,500.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in May 2021, and they completed the website in July 2021. Our work with them is project-based, so we engage with them whenever a project arises. We have another landing page and an e-commerce website coming up, so they’ll work on that as well.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We got positive feedback on the website; people said it was perfect. Moreover, the projects we’ve worked on with them have resolved serious problems for us. We really appreciate all their work. They’ve done a great job not only in the design sense but also in their reliability, respectfulness, sincerity, and responsiveness to our needs.
Even if they have problems, it never reflects on us. They’ve managed the project well. Overall, it’s been wonderful to work with them, and they’ve kept in touch with us.
How did Lemonat perform from a project management standpoint?
I was the manager for the website project with Lemonat, but their management was also excellent. They were helpful, and they responded quickly. For example, we didn’t have cookie pop-ups, and after they finished the project, we asked to add a button, and they still did it for us.
With this current project, they’re ahead of time. We drag them a little bit, but they don’t complain. They’re pretty good with timing, response time, and communication. The team keeps us in the loop, and we always know what they want because they’re always very clear. Our IT people sometimes chime in and ask for something.
We email back and forth and have phone calls. We also use Google Meet and Zoom a lot. They’re very hands-on without being in our faces.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re good at solving problems, but their kind and attentive attitude really set them apart. Most of the designers we’ve worked with only give two shots, and you have to pick one or they’ll choose for you and move along.
However, Lemonat has been kind and responsive while still pushing the project along. I’d never encountered that before. They’re the kind of people you can actually take to the top management and present something to them.
Overall, they’re flexible and helpful, and they constantly listen to our needs and keep us in check. Also, they always try to find the best solution possible within the customers’ needs and design restrictions, which is rare to find.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would’ve been nice if they could’ve developed the site as well. They’re a small team, but they’re such good designers that I wish we could do more with them. If they offered a broader scope, we’d take it.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
They’ll deliver whatever you need. If you want to do a website, definitely check them out.
