The challenge

BMS For Global Car Manufacturer
Short description
A Battery Management System (BMS) with integrated state-of-the-art algorithms for improved SoC and SoH parameter measurements.
Challenge
We aimed to build an advanced BMS with improved accuracy of SoC and SoH algorithms and ASIL-D features for hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles with a team experienced in AUTOSAR development. The scope of work covered such safety features as Over/Under Voltage, Over/Under Temperature Protection, Short Circuit Detection, Cell Balancing, CAN Communication, and Faults Handling.
Delivered value
Lemberg Solutions’ data science team developed enhanced SoC and SoH algorithms that suited the requirements of high-reliability automotive applications. The improved algorithms use data from such sensors as temperature, current, battery chemistry, and capacity — thus enabling 96–98% SoC algorithm accuracy. Our algorithms ensure correct driving range determination, prolong battery pack lifespan, and reduce the risk of fire incidents.
Embedded Development for Motorized Camera Sliders
About the client
Rhino is a Seattle-based company producing motorized camera sliders and rigs to facilitate and enhance run & gun filmmaking and time-lapse creation. Their easy-to-use devices are making film production faster and more comfortable.
The challenge
Having already developed a function to set up two keyframes for a shoot, Rhino broke new ground and added support for more keyframes to their devices. However, updated firmware impeded the smooth running of their iOS app. They needed a technical partner who would cover their need for new PCBs and enable stable app performance.

Monda Magazin is a digital publishing company that empowers women through thought-provoking content. They offer an effective antidote to the typical gender bias in the German digital publishing industry and serve as a contact point for women with sharp minds and ambitious goals.
The challenge
Monda had been running their website on WordPress, but the platform had stopped being flexible enough to satisfy their editorial team’s growing needs.
They wanted to migrate to a more convenient content management system (CMS). In particular, they wanted to extend their basic publishing functionality, add flexible ad management tools, and build a smart content recommendation system powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.

Doppel Quality Control App
About the client
Our client is a team of scientists and design engineers working on a psychophysiology-inspired technology Doppel, a wrist wearable that helps people stay calm and focused.
The challenge
Our client was looking for a mobile app to automate quality control of Doppel devices on the production line. This mobile solution had to be able to test vital features which have the most impact on device user experience: Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity and control gesture responsivity, as well as validate software update integrity.
Delivered value
We developed an Android mobile app that automates and simplifies Doppel testing by reducing the opportunity for human error and assuring the quality of the newly manufactured device batches before they are shipped to the customers.
Cell Garden
About the client
Cell Garden is an early-stage IoT startup based in Germany. Its core team is a group of very enthusiastic FoodTech entrepreneurs and nutritionists who regularly criticise conventional food industry methods and have developed their own nutritional concept to make our lives healthier and better.
The challenge
The client was looking for a technical partner who can deliver a mass-production-compatible MVP prototype based on their industrial product design. The scope of work would require mechanical design, electrical engineering, firmware and web/cloud development, and further focusing on end-user mobile apps.
Delivered value
Lemberg delivered a 3D-printed and fully assembled device prototype. This prototype helped demonstrate the client's idea to its customers and investors, and convince them to support this project. All the design files along with a prototype can be further handed over to a mass-production vendor.

Veam Studios is focused on building apps to help professionals work more efficiently so they can spend more time on what’s really important.
The challenge
Site Audit Pro, with more than 30k clients worldwide, is one of the most successful iOS apps developed by Veam Studios. The company received a lot of requests for the Android version, and it was decided to find a reliable partner to port the app and, thus, improve the market share.

Horse Analytics
About the client
HorseAnalytics is a German early stage startup with seed funding. The vision of HorseAnalytics is to accompany horses at all times and to improve their well-being and their health by using mobile apps, sensors and integrated data analysis.
The challenge
The product owner came to us with an idea to monitor horse activity 24/7 including exercise, sleep and behavior and to translate all of this into meaningful data for the user.
We realized that the cornerstone of this project would be a Machine Learning algorithm that detects various horse activities. With this in mind, we designed the proper solution architecture and suggested a plan of action that will help ensure a successful delivery.

The client expected us to take a major responsibility for delivering the whole end-to-end technical solution, which also included business analysis, architecture design, mobile apps and cloud development, as well as building the information model, collection and processing of raw data, and neural network training.

Our client’s goal was to turn a manual thermostat into a wireless-controlled IoT device. Together with Selco, we designed a phased development approach that required integrating a BLE module into the thermostat PCB and developing mobile apps for iOS and Android.

They provided 1 React Developer for a Symfony Back-End, React Front-End web applications, and they provided 2 Drupal Back-End Developers for primarily Drupal 8 projects. All 3 Developers have focused on development, with one Developer executing senior functions including Code Reviews and Merge Requests.

We first discussed our project with our project managers, going over the skills we were looking for and any additional requirements. Based on that, they shortlisted a number of candidates for us to interview. We gave each of them a technical test to evaluate their skills and hired these 3 respective Developers over a staggered period of time.
Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?
With one of the Developers (who is the lone Senior Developer), the Developer migrated from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9. With another Developers, we finished a major epic on the React Front-End application (with Symfony Back-End).
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Even though their Developers were remote, they became part of our team. They adapted quickly to our project management approach, and we had daily stand-ups. If we had a technical issue, they would track it though JIRA or through Teamwork.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They provided highly skilled developers at a cost-effective price. I also appreciated that they were pro-active about suggesting solutions to challenges.

I’m the CEO of an AI maintenance technology company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Lemberg Solutions?
We needed help with IoT development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They helped with IoT development. They also helped us with the creation of a firmware for a PCP off the shelf, which was more or less a task of bonding a few hardware together. Moreover, they also worked to get the appropriate descripts that were made in Python to run on our device.
There was no data science know-how involved, but there was a lot of know-how in making the Python platform work on an IoT device. It was especially hard in this case because we used a lot of libraries — they prototyped the hardware device that hosts our algorithms and recorded ultrasounds.
What is the team composition?
The main point of contact was Slavic (Head of IoT Business Development) and a project manager.
How did you come to work with Lemberg Solutions?
We met at a conference 1–2 years ago where at the time, we didn’t have any hardware-related stuff. We moved into IoT devices and looked at 2–3 companies where Lemberg Solutions came out on top — they offered the best team at a very reasonable price.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
What we had Lemberg Solutions do was perfectly demonstrated. They needed to build a device and run the algorithms and did a live video demo that showed us that it worked — it was very easy to find out if it worked or not.
How did Lemberg Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
We had a weekly call and 2–3 touchpoints via email or Messenger, where they shared the pros and cons of each of our options. When we didn’t have a preference, they told us theirs and explained why. We had just the right amount of communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The breadth of knowledge they assembled into one team was impressive. They worked very fast and shared the responsibility for the decisions because, at the end of the day, we both didn’t know what the best options were — they just told me where they had a slight tendency towards. They also tried other options without charge anything extra, which set them apart from others.

We wanted to develop an Android app based on our existing iOS version.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Lemberg Solutions developed an Android app for us. First, they analyzed the functionalities of our iOS version of the app and provided feedback to clarify the scope of building the Android version. Then, they came up with an estimated budget, which helped us move forward with our specific goals for the app. Once we were clear on the budget, they started building the app. They designed it based on our iOS version and also worked on UX, UI, and BlueTooth connectivity. From there, we reviewed the app’s design and tested it.

Lemberg used a project management tool, which they used to give weekly updates on the budget and work progress. However, I didn’t have to check it because the workflow went smoothly. I kept in touch with them through email. They were always on time, and whenever there was an issue, the project manager contacted me to discuss it. The project manager was also great at coordinating the project, providing information on the programming status, and texting the app to fix any issue.
We split the project into two timelines, which helped us move forward fastly. We had weekly calls with their tech team to receive feedback on quality control. Also, their design team was collaborative, helping us anytime we had a problem.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Lamberg’s team was transparent and had excellent time management. Working with them was one of the best experiences we had. They delivered on time and exceeded our expectations. They also added value because they had an external view of our project, which helped us better understand our own process.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think so. We received better results than we had expected within the promised timeline – we couldn’t ask for anything else.
Any advice for potential customers?
I advise future clients to be as transparent and open as possible and give feedback to the firm. They have a quick turn around and clients could speed up the process if they’re responsive as well. Also, clients should discuss with them their goals and expectations to have a better idea of the project.

Lemberg Solutions developed an application to be used for Quality Control testing on our production lines. The application needed to be able to test performance remotely and provide logs of test results.

We wanted to be able to reliably test products on the assembly line, whilst accurately tracking progress across several product runs.

We met Lemberg Solutions at an industry event and were impressed with their experience working with connected hardware projects and knowledge of the consumer market. We settled on using them after speaking with several of their previous clients to gain a better understanding of their working processes.

The project was to develop an Android application which could ;
- Connect to our product over Bluetooth and perform basic tests (controls)
- Monitor test outcomes on a production line
- Log the test results for further analysis (in a usable format).
We provided product samples, technical documentation, app flow layout, and assets. We also detailed acceptable outcomes for tests. The team at Lemberg Solutions provided insights where possible and outstanding support from a technical and testing perspective.
What was the team composition?
We worked with a project manager and an Android developer primarily. We also had support from a QA Engineer which validated all builds before they were sent to us, identifying any issues they could not fix.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We have not yet fully rolled out the app that Lemberg Solutions built for us as we are still running internal trials on other aspects of the production line. However in our tests so far the app seems to have significantly reduced the testing time per device, allows for more reliable testing and provides valuable testing data.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The workflow with Lemberg Solutions was very well implemented and managed. The project manager was very responsive and ensured that communications were maintained continuously. We had weekly calls, supported by communication via email or Slack depending on the nature of the discussion.
The PM were proactive in planning the project and communicating timelines, issues and potential to miss deadlines which helped mitigate risks that could have arisen due to language barriers. Direct access to the developer also made the project more straightforward as it lowered the risks of miscommunication.

I’m the chief product officer of a company that produces and sells fashion goods. I’m responsible for the overall growth of our three brands.
For what projects/services did your company hire Lemberg Solutions?
We needed to a build a chatbot on Facebook Messenger and integrate it into our brand strategy. They also helped us launch a magazine, an ad engine, and an AI platform to better understand our future customers’ needs.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to interact with our customers naturally and develop a new brand.
How did you select this vendor?
I’d worked with Lemberg on multiple projects already. We wanted a partner with AI experience and the necessary scale to solve complex challenges.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
Together with Lemberg, we designed the bot’s software architecture and communication flows. They did an excellent job at implementing the logic. Simultaneously, we planned the magazine’s release. Again, Lemberg did a great job of providing us with a stable development via technology consulting and architecture design.
What was the team composition?
We had a project manager for each project, which helped intra-team bonding. Our monthly retainer allowed Lemberg to switch team members in and out according to our needs.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Despite some challenges, Lemberg delivered quality work on time. We actually signed an extended service-level agreement because of their stellar performance.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
They do an excellent job compared to other vendors. Innovative projects like ours are prone to misunderstandings and vague requirements, but Lemberg’s project manager does an excellent job of mediating even the smallest issues. They understood our needs, translated them into requirements, and briefed our stakeholders with detailed information.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They’ve adapted to our changing needs calmly and professionally. Every project I work with them on feels like it will be successful, and that’s turned out to be true so far.

We are developing a smart sprouting machine that enables urban communities to easily and quickly grow fresh superfoods at home. I develop our Seed-Pads and provide nutrition consultation.

We hired Lemberg Solutions to develop a fully functional prototype of our device.
What were your goals for this project?
Our goals were to reach the next milestone, build our first working prototype, prove our idea, and prepare our crowdfunding campaign.
How did you select this vendor?
We had offers from several companies, so the decision took a few months. We got to know Lemberg Solutions better by understanding their process and past projects. Their offer and price were both great.

At the beginning, we defined all the criteria our device should have. We built a long list so their reponsibilities were clear. They did the project planning and management, wrote a specification book, and developed, sourced, and tested the software. They completed the mechanical and electrical engineering alongside a partner.

The project team had about 10 people, including specialists. A project manager was our direct contact. The team changed depending on the task.

This prototype demonstrated our idea to customers and investors. We can now convice them to support us.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Their project management was impressively prepared and organized. Every document was comprehensible and stored in the cloud. We had a Skype meeting every week.

We were impressed by their skillful, structured process. We felt comfortable communicating with them; it was like working with friends.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
They could improve their communication. They should critique their partner's engineering suggestions and solutions more.
Lemberg Solutions managed to deliver high-quality outputs on time despite working remotely. They adapted quickly to the client's work style, constantly provided solutions to problems, and made the necessary adjustments to meet the project goals. Without a doubt, they were the ideal partner.
