A3Ventures by AAA
A3 Ventures is “the innovational lab and capital investment engine of AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah (AAA NCNU). [They] invest in ideas and build products that help our Members and communities navigate the future.”
A3 Ventures has a design team, but they don’t have a WordPress specialist. They needed to be able to update and maintain their website (as they’re constantly adding new pictures, projects, etc.).
Because their site had to match the branding that AAA already has, it was imperative that the code was clean, maintainable, reusable, and pixel perfect.
With all that in mind, I built them this website, with their design, in order to be fast, scalable, and secure. It’s built with Advanced Custom Fields to allow for reusable blocks throughout the pages and projects.
They can now easily update all their content, and have an easier time ranking on Google and other search engines.

Identity Champion by AAA
The AAA Identity Champion team just finished a revamp of their product offerings, and needed a blog to manage content for their content marketing efforts. I built their blog on WordPress, to match the current branding of their app and other offerings.
The blog, which is now fully responsive for mobile and other devices, is built on top of a custom WordPress theme where a team of writers and bloggers can now fully manage all their content, categories, posts, etc. in an easy to use WordPress backend.
The most important consideration in everything was how well the site would rank in Google, and it was imperative this would be an SEO machine. From a development point of view, this site ranks 95 on mobile and 99 on desktop in the Google Page Speed test.
We also needed a way to funnel users back to the app, so they sign up for the monthly AAA membership. I setup a few custom fields so that within each blog post the team can implement custom advertisements where users can receive discounts and other offers.
Finally, because they're constantly evolving and changing features, I've been tasked with updating and maintaining everything as well, ensuring that their site will be fast and secure for a long time to come.

ToutApp
ToutApp is an email marketing automation tool. They were later bought by Marketo, and then Adobe. They hired me to rebuild their site within the existing WordPress framework they already had. Their entire marketing team was familiar with how to upload and edit content, and they had an entire process for content marketing that had to be maintained.
Their site underwent multiple redesigns, until we landed on this version. Their design team worked tirelessly with me to ensure each part of the user experience was funneling visitors in to purchase. We worked on setting up blogs, and other content marketing strategies to allow more visibility across various Google searches.
I built their custom WordPress theme on top of a framework, to ensure it was responsive, intuitive, and fast.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Glydways is a next gen mass transit solution company. I am the director of commercial programs.
For what projects/services did your company hire Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development, and what were your goals?
We were provided a website design by our marketing consulting firm. I sought out Kegan Quimby to develop the site based on the design. The site design involved multiple landing pages, motion graphics, photo carousels, and embedded video content, as well as a contact sheet. The project had an extremely aggressive timeline - (about 16 days, including weekends.)
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I found the vendor on Yelp and based on the confidence he exuded when discussing the project, his extremely responsive communication cadence and clear communication style. Kegan was also extremely accommodating to the demanding deadline, and provided a clear work plan that illustrated a line of sight towards delivery.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had a kick-off meeting to discuss our goals and objectives, from there, Kegan worked with the design team and built out the website style first, followed by function and finally inserted the appropriate content. We had a very simple issue tracking sheet and Kegan very quickly worked through all of the issues during a rigorous QA period, and was on standby throughout the Launch process, accommodating quickly all of the follow-up requests.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Kegan was a 1-man army, however it felt like I was working with a fully-staffed dev firm.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We were extremely satisfied with the website's execution, and Kegan remained responsive during post-launch.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Kegan was available for discuss throughout the process, and proactively provided me a few options on when to connect throughout the duration of the project. He interfaced seamlessly with my team and with the design firm. complete professionalism from beginning to end.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
extreme professionalism, dedicated problem solver, amazing work ethic.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing comes to mind workwise. I wish that Kegan had a beefier portfolio that would inform me of recent work. (as it was he had done the site of a business partner so I was able to verify his work, but had it not been the reference, I would have been tempted to pass. I am obviously glad I did not pass up on the opportunity to work with Kegan.

Please describe your company and your position there.
My cousin and I run a podcast. We talk about all things sports and current events. I'm a 50/50 owner, and in charge of making sure the show goes off without a hitch (setting up topics to talk about, trivia questions, etc.). I'm the equivalent of the play-by-play announcer, and my cousin would be similar to the color commentator.
For what projects/services did your company hire Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development, and what were your goals?
We didn't have any web presence for our podcast, and our goals were two fold: first, we wanted to be able to have a site where we could blog about current topics, and things that we didn't talk about on the show. Secondly, we wanted to have the episodes and show notes uploaded to our own site, so all traffic was sent there instead of anchor.fm (which is what we were using before).
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We searched online for a bit, and really liked all the reviews and past client testimonials we had seen from Kegan. We knew this wouldn't be a terribly big job, but wanted to make sure it was done right, and on time, and met all our goals. We also wanted to make sure that we had one point of contact, and that that was going to be the person building and designing our site.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The main deliverable was a fully functioning website that we could update and manage ourselves. We had a few different meetings to discuss what technologies we could use, but ultimately landed on WordPress for its ease-of-use. We also met about other sites we like the look and feel of, and Kegan presented us with a few different design options before building out anything.
The main steps were first design, then development, then some SEO stuff. We wanted to make sure we had a custom built website that would score well in Google, and would be mobile friendly. Kegan checked all the boxes and then some! He was super helpful with teaching us about the website, how to use everything, and made it really easy to do everything we wanted!
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The only person we worked with was Kegan! He's the owner.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
After launching our site, we saw a roughly 2x increase in traffic and downloads per episode.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Kegan was well ahead of schedule pretty much every step of the way! He was in communication whenever he had any sort of question, or whenever we needed him. If we had to setup a call with him it was always within a day or less. I would definitely recommend Kegan for this fact alone: you're never in the dark!! I've worked with other developers in the past who just don't respond and disappear for weeks on end.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The best part about the experience was the end-to-end communication with Kegan. The fact that he was working on everything himself, meant that there was never a lag time on communicating and a break down in the goals. Nothing was ever lost in translation. Oh, that, and the site he built was awesome!!
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nope!

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of a nanny agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development?
After developing my own site and managing it for a few years, I decided to hire a web development partner to take over.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Kegan Quimby manages our website on a daily basis. The team provides updates, on-site SEO, and so on.
What is the team composition?
We only work with Kegan (Owner).
How did you come to work with Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development?
Our site crashed at some point, and I happened to be out of the country at the time, so I looked for someone to fix it for me. I found Kegan, who immediately got the website up and running again. Eventually, I decided to meet up with him and hire him as our web development partner.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $5,000–$10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in July 2017 and is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our website has been running smoothly — we haven’t had any glitches or technical issues ever since we brought the team on. Thanks to their SEO work, we’ve also been receiving steady traffic.
How did Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development perform from a project management standpoint?
They’ve managed the project management seamlessly. Kegan Quimby is an excellent and respectful communicator, and it’s been a joy working with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Kegan Quimby is very responsive and down-to-earth. The team connects with us in a unique way. Furthermore, they truly enjoy what they do, and their passion really makes them stand out.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think there’s anything they could do differently — they’re always willing to help, and we’re satisfied.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have a clear idea of what you’re looking for, and they’ll take it from there. I would recommend Kegan Quimby to any small business owner.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Our company is a loan acquisition firm that specializes in the purchase and management of esoteric financial instruments like whole mortgage loans and small business loans.
For what projects/services did your company hire Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development, and what were your goals?
Our website structure had become outdated and we were looking to rid ourselves of the usage of plugins and 3rd-party tools that could be problematic in the present or future for our SEO. We hired Kegan to come in a change everything line by line and not disrupt the look and feel. We also wanted to put into place the ability to scale up UX in 2021 and beyond.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We based our decision to work with Kegan on the fantastic reviews we found online. We also wanted to hire an local-based freelancer that was in close proximity to our location. Not someone abroad with weird hours for our California -based staff and a potential language barrier which is a hurdle in-of-itself.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The process could not have been more simple. We describe the functionality issues we were experiencing as well as our desire to not rock the boat on SEO and Kegan made it extremely easy. We started by exchanging ideas (verbally) on what we envisioned and later that day, Kegan had mock-ups ready to go. The mock-ups were almost identical to our verbal outline.
From there he got to work and provided very regular updates via email and phone. He was very accessible and the best part is that we were not dealing with a middle-person, we were dealing with the web-dev talent directly. Exactly the reason we went with a individual over a corporation to begin with...
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Just Kegan - he is all we needed. This is what we anticipated and preferred.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
After the coding process was completed, our SEO went through the roof because we had way more control over the entire experience on site. In addition, our conversation rate went up almost 40% which is giving us our best year yet in 2021.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We have regular weekly updates with Kegan. He was flexible on communication whether you are an email-person or a phone-person, Kegan would accommodate and mirror your team's cadence. I am a phone person and for me there is nothing more frustrating when I relay verbal instructions on a call to a person we are paying and then the person or company we are paying ask us to compose and email explaining what we just explained to them verbally. I am not paying you to do your job. Take notes! That is why I appreciate a person who can adapt to a workflow - like Kegan...
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We've been impressed with Kegan's ability to communicate and adapt to our workflow. His accessibility during pst business hours and his knowledge. Not to mention the great work he does (getting right on the first try).
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I do not have any that come to mind.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the founder of Got Light, an SF Bay Area event design & production company that provides lighting, audio, video, drape, and staging to weddings and events throughout the Bay Area.
For what projects/services did your company hire Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development, and what were your goals?
Our website was birthed over 20 years ago and was super outdated and stuck and older version of Wordpress that became a mess of plugins and unused data. We hired Kegan to migrate our old site to a new WordPress platform and give it a cleaner easier format for both front-end and back-end users.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We searched for about a dozen web developers throughout the US. Kegan was an immediate fit because her was direct, personable, approachable, and didn't make us fill out some stupid 25 page form about website goals and company core values. They clearly understood what needed to happen and didn't ask many questions to figure out how to approach it.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had several meetings via zoom to figure out how to transition to a new site. Discussed different possibilities, gave me feedback and guidance on current standards, what works and doesn't. Most of what we were able to do was via email, screenshots, annotations. Super easy.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Just one, Kegan.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We are extremely happy with the new, clean, updated Wordpress backend system and even more excited at the fresh clean look of the new site. Excited to see how customers engage with it.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Kegan and primarily worked via email, google drive, dropbox, and/or live google meets to walk through notes and needs. Kegan responds to notes and updates and wild changes very quickly and without drama or issues.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
One man show, no drama, straightforward, approachable, no ego when I don't like something. Keeping it simple and professional and fun to work with.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I'm a product marketing lead at an innovation lab. My responsibilities range from developing email marketing initiatives to launching and running our blog.
For what projects/services did your company hire Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development, and what were your goals?
We needed to start a blog to build SEO for our website and provide more content for our leads and customers to engage with. With a tight timeline and a design ready to go, we needed to find a development partner who could bring our site to life.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Kegan came highly recommended from our design department who had hired him to build a different site. His easy communication style, responsiveness, speed of development, and expertise were all deciding factors.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We provided Kegan with designs for our Wordpress blog and held weekly meetings to discuss next steps, anything missing from the designs, and decisions around website hosting and SEO.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with Kegan directly.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Everyone is thrilled with the way the blog turned out, how it was received by our customers and the speed with which Kegan was able to move.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We primarily communicated via email and our weekly Google Hangout calls. Kegan did a great job of communicating anything that might slow down development early so we could address any potential holdups as they came up.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Kegan made the entire process so easy, and he was really good at what he does. He can guide you through the process from A to Z, providing insights for key decisions.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Every once in a while a small request slipped through the cracks, but it wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I lead brand marketing for our organization and an internal studio team.
For what projects/services did your company hire Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development, and what were your goals?
With Kegan we launched a new brand site for our organization to inform consumers, recruiters and talent. We have had multiple smaller engagements in the meantime.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We found Kegan Quimby through a Google search! Looked at his portfolio projects, met with him, and have enjoyed a 3 year working relationship that continues. His ability to deploy latest technology with a keen eye and diligent delivery were evident and have been proven many times.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Landing pages for our public-facing sites deployed with Wordpress. Typical project has a small working team over several weeks time. Begins with kickoff meeting, project plan and milestones. Frequent check-ins on design concepts, decision points and syncs.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We worked with Kegan personally.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We support our landing pages with active marketing programs, so it's hard to say how much of our increased site traffic and business traction attributes solely to our web development projects. The ongoing value is that we have an active partner who is always available to update our content, launch new microsites or pages, and keep our versions up to date.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
Kegan is an active manager of projects. His project plans are appropriately succinct and actionable. In the middle of an active development project we often connected by slack; the rest of the time we'd track progress through email and occasional sync meetings. Kegan's work style demonstrated consistent energy and great attention to detail.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Availability, energetic and timely delivery, current with design and technology. And a very nice guy who our team enjoys working with.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Kegan moves faster than our organization does, and has more creative energy to spare. That's something I would not change.

For what projects/services did your company hire Kegan Quimby Web Design & Development?
He did it all. We were a timeshare in New Orleans with no web presence. Our owners and guests can now access the online services that were, until recently, still done the old-fashioned way...like writing and mailing a check! Kegan created our site from scratch. It is amazing to see how he works!
