"My Ideal Product"
Web design and development in conjunction with our partner Freelan focused on the positioning/branding of some key Panasonic products. Through the platform, the visitor is able to discover which is the ideal product for him/her by answering a small interactive survey. At the end of the survey you are presented with the ideal product and linked to the online store.

"IOT for Kids"
Design and development of an Android application for Kidzania focused on Internet Of Things (IOT). From this application, that's connected to gadgets throughout the park, children can manage the 'ambience' of the park (intensity, color and flashing of lights, as well as the choice and duration of sounds and more).

"Books & Audiobooks at the Palm of your Hand"
Design and development of a mobile app for iOS & Android for children. Users will be able to view, buy and reproduce any book and audio-book from the catalog published by the client from the client's web admin panel (as designed and developed by us). Likewise, from the admin panel the client can view their sales and other informative data.

“They want to continue to work with us which is very good for both companies.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the global product manager of the experience team at an education and entertainment company for kids. For example, kids can enter a city setting with real companies to role-play adult life and experience different jobs at various companies.
What challenge were you trying to address with Kalyptio?
We needed help with custom software development for our company.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Kalyptio creates custom software to help us develop simulated experiences for kids in various establishments. While we check the location's architecture and design the activities and content, they help us on the technical side to bring our concepts to life.
We've worked on many cityscape projects with them. One idea is to have a service center for cell phones within the city setting. The kids can go into the store, which looks like a normal store but actually has a secret door that gives access to a secret agent area. We asked them to create real facial recognition software. The kids are able to register and create an agent name. The software recognizes the kid’s face, and then it will open up a secret door.
They’ve also made an IoT experience where kids can go and modify things with their app. There’s an advertising screen at the top of one of our establishments’ buildings. Kids can use the app to manipulate the screen’s content and swap it with their own. For example, they could create PR materials for some merchandise in one of the shops and show it on the screen.
Through the IoT app, they are also able to control the traffic lights, as well as the lights in the city. Depending on the time of day, the lights will be on or off. They can modify the color, too. They are also creating a new app for a university setting, which involves creating PR content and sending it to another screen.
Finally, they’ve created software for the hospital in the city. The idea is to have a tablet so that, with real-time movements, we can see the skeleton of the person in front of us through the camera on the tablet as if it were an X-ray.
What is the team composition?
I’m in contact with three people: the CEO, a project manager, and a developer. The project manager helps me with the payments and all the invoices. The CEO is also a programmer, and he helps us with the on-site installation. We’ve also worked with a developer who focuses on programming the activities.
How much have you invested in them?
We’ve invested around 1,000,000 Mexican Pesos (approximately $50,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
I believe we started working with them in April 2019.
The pandemic crushed us, and we couldn’t complete the whole project. Now that we are opening again, we are able to actually finish the projects. The IoT and facial recognition projects are already over, and we are still working on the X-ray and the university.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The apps that they create for us are working, and the kids love them. Facial recognition is one of the most shocking things that they have developed for us. The IoT app is more technical, and maybe kids have seen its functionality in other apps, but they still love it because it works like it would in a real city.
There haven’t been any problems when it comes to support or maintenance. They help us with anything we need, and they want to continue working with us which is very good for both companies.
How did Kalyptio perform from a project management standpoint?
The only thing we had a problem with was the pandemic. The projects that we have done with them were delivered on time. We gave them two months to finish it, and they accomplished it which was very good.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We really like their way of working with us and the way they helped us during the pandemic. It was a hard time for us, and we had trouble paying them which they understood and were flexible with the payment. They weren’t just sitting there and waiting for us — they sent us feedback. They still have very competitive prices, and they always give us new ideas.
As for the facial recognition app, it was a very hard project. The other company that was trying to sell it to us told us it was impossible to create a real facial recognition software and that it could only be a fake one to make the kids believe it was working. Kalyptio said they would make us a real one for a very good price.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They send us information using very specific technical language, so it’s hard to read for most of our staff. I think that they should make a version that is more client-friendly and not that hard to understand.
Kalyptio leads a solid development process. They are straightforward, friendly, and collaborative. So far, they’ve delivered high-quality solutions on time and without any bugs. They continue to provide support and are open to new collaborations with the client. Their team excels at communicating.
