Feedback summary:

The internal team is happy with the design and expects noticeable improvements in productivity. Providing valuable recommendations, Jinn went above and beyond to meet all needs, while their commitment and responsiveness to feedback made them a reliable partner.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the CEO and founder of a company in the Insurance industry. We streamline processes for better outcomes in a workers' compensation industry.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Jinn, Inc.?

We needed an internal system that can manage all the information and automate our processes. We had an existing system, but it wasn't good enough, so we were looking for a company to develop a new application for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our existing system was built in Quick Base, so we were looking for something that is built from scratch. The system was already architected when they came in. They started with the design phase, thoroughly going through every single aspect of the UI design. It’s a niche industry, so it was a collaborative process. We're now going through the development phase with them.

We have many fields and our internal team has to deal with a lot of information. The biggest challenge was to present this information in a clear way and make it easily accessible so that people who work with it don't feel overwhelmed by the massive amount of information. The system, which is built with React and node.js, is workflow-based. It automates a lot of the approval processes and is integrated with Gmail. They created a graphing calculator that will shorten the time of some of our processes to minutes. In addition, we do a lot of reporting and the new system helps us with that.

What is the team composition?

We have one main point of contact, but there are more people involved in our project.

How did you come to work with them?

I found them through Gigster.com. They had the expertise we needed and were willing to work with our budget, so we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent about $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in February 2018 and the relationship is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Once the design phase was completed, we shared the application with the internal team and everyone was happy. We expect our productivity to increase significantly once we start using the new system.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management and communications skills are stellar. We have a very niche industry and we needed to explain a lot of things, so we mostly used the phone during the design phase. Now, as we're going through the development phase, we use Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate their level of engagement and their ability to offer solutions. That's especially helpful for those clients who are not tech-savvy and might not be able to pinpoint the exact things they need to be developed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They readily take feedback. At one point, I suggested that the transition of information between different members of their team could be a bit smoother. Since then, they improved significantly in that regard. Now, we're going through the development stage and I can tell they spend a lot of time talking to each other.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Know what you want and trust their process. Also, keep your mind open to their feedback because their solutions might be better for you in the long run.

The platform is crash-free thanks to Jinn, Inc.’s quality programming. Their organized methodology and consistent communication led to a transparent engagement. They took care to maintain the project’s vision, which allowed them to deliver on all requirements.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a food and nutrition platform. We help people discover experiences that fit their own tastes.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Jinn, Inc.?

We needed help with the entire mobile experience and machine learning.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We built an iOS platform using Swift, as well as a database on MongoDB using Node.js. The app is scalable and very interactive

What is the team composition?

I had multiple points of contact, but the COO was my main project manager. We also had a frontend engineer and a backend engineer.

How did you come to work with Jinn, Inc.?

We met through Babson College.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve invested $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since July 2017.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m a UX/UI designer and they did a great job with our designs. We’re 100% crash-free on the tech side, and we have been for a while. Their team programmed really well.

How did Jinn, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through Slack mostly and had weekly phone calls when needed. We also had scrum meetings so we were able to scope everything pretty well. They kept us posted on all of it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were an incredibly helpful extension of our team. They understood our needs and work well with our in-house team. They delivered on our vision.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to come in prepared, because just having an idea is sometimes not enough. They’re a professional firm, and are there to make your ideas into reality, but, at the same time, they need to understand what you want. Having a scope to give them is very helpful.

Feedback summary:

Jinn’s technical expertise was outstanding, while their CEO’s involvement provided added value. Despite a minor delay, their constant availability and collaborative approach fostered a positive experience. However, it would help to have one person responsible for overseeing the entire project.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the founder of a company that connects musicians with live venues through an application.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Jinn, Inc.?

We needed help with app development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, they assisted with business scoping and identifying key features. Jinn, Inc. then coded a native iOS app using Swift 4.1. They built everything for me, including the newsfeed where artists and venues can see each other. They also integrated my app with YouTube and Stripe.

What is the team composition?

I had access to everyone on the team. My primary contact was their COO, but I spent the most time working with their project manager and product manager.

How did you come to work with Jinn, Inc.?

I knew them even before the project started.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August 2017 to July 2018. They continue to provide ongoing maintenance. Currently, the app is still going through the Apple Store.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our relationship is excellent, thanks to their personal approach. Not only do they have an in-depth understanding of system architecture, but they are also easy to work with.

How did Jinn, Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Their strongest suit is managing the process. During development, the project manager communicated well and was on call 24/7. We used multiple tools for communication such as Slack and Jira, where I received updates. We also spoke over the phone, met in person, and communicated via text messages and email.

While the project was slightly delayed, it was due to things that no one could’ve predicted until the development actually happened. The delay did not have a significant impact on our project. We also experienced some bugs during the QA process, which they quickly fixed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their CEO’s involvement and expertise impressed us the most. Arjun (CEO, Jinn, Inc.) is also a startup founder, and I think that working with someone who has gone through the entrepreneurial experience really helps. He has a strong understanding of system architecture. If anything went wrong, he could tell the junior developers what to do if needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be good to have one dedicated project manager to oversee the entire process from the beginning to the end. This would greatly increase the value for their clients.

Feedback summary:

The website is easy to navigate and user-friendly. Clients say that the site is more functional than the previous one. Jinn's quick work and efficient developing process delivered a quality product.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the co-founder and COO of a technology company that offers universities technology and software.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Jinn?

We needed a large amount of development work in a short amount of time and quality developers to carry out the project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They came to our office and worked with us hands-on to develop a web platform and two mobile apps that mimicked the platform.

They used React Native, Node Js, and Swift. They helped build components of the website and the entire app. The app was native, and on the website specifically, they took over the calendar, chat, and university tab.

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact is the CEO.

How did you come to work with Jinn?

We are both big presences in the Boston area, and presenting at a university, we ran into them.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we invested about $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with the company in October 2017 and it is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our clients are able to use our website and so far the site is functioning properly. They also helped architect the platform, and it is live.

How did Jinn perform from a project management standpoint?

It was a changing project and they had to be very agile in the project management style. We communicated through email and phone, Slack, and in person, whatever worked for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are able to move fast and have a good process for getting work done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They need to be upfront with their delivery expectations because it is difficult to deliver a lot of work at once, so just communicating that.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Be engaged and communicate effectively with them to get the best possible product. They are a passionate group and you have to be interested if you want them to reciprocate.
