I have encountered 6 team members so far. I am working with a Senior Project Manager full time plus: iOS developer Android developer Backend developer Quality Assurance Engineer DevOps Engineer "
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
I joined Nexus beginning of August 2021 and was asked by the CEO to give my opinion on the work Jelvix had produced so far. I looked into what had been specified and what had been delivered and found it was of a very good quality- I asked a question of the Nexus team: what did they think of what Nexus had delivered and they all agreed it was very good quality.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
The project management I have experienced since my start Aug 2021 has been very proactive - the style is collaborative and consultative and as with many startups they are flexible to the fluidity of changes in decisions.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I have run and worked development teams for over 25 years and for me as DCIO it is great to have a partner where they have access to an extensive range of technical and project skills with a background of diverse projects to help support an enterprise that is in its nascent form.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
With only a few weeks experience of Jelvix I don't really have a view on this. There were some spelling mistakes and misinterpretations due to language

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CEO of a career management company specialised in digital technology to help people identify new careers.
For what projects/services did your company hire Jelvix, and what were your goals?
We hired Jelvix to undertake the development work on our mobile apps (iOS and Android) and web portal. Our goals were to create native mobile apps for career seekers and a bespoke web portal for businesses to post training and work opportunities.
How did you select Jelvix and what were the deciding factors?
I had previously worked with Jelvix in another company, when I approached them about this project they quickly grasped what we were aiming to do. Jelvix provided deep knowledge in the architecture and development work.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had a kick off meeting to describe the aims of the technology, I had already created the wireframes and technical scope, Jelvix interpreted this very well. Once the scope was set we went through pricing and estimates on development times, these were then transferred in to sprints.
Once the sprints were set we moved on to development. There is always good communication and tracking, utilising Slack and PivotalTracker to help me understand where we were at all times. In addition our dedicated Project Manager created reporting documents and delivered these to me on a weekly basis.
The aim was to initially deliver two version 1 apps both native and a web portal to take to market, we did this successfully and swiftly moved on to growing and enhancing all platforms.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
- 1x iOS developer
- 1x Android Developer
- 1x Backend developer
- 1x Frontend Developer
- 1x Project Manager
- 1x Designer
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Feedback has been very good, as well as being the UK's number 1 trending business app on Google Play, the quality of the work has helped us to attract new customers, partners and investors.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Communication on a daily basis with project updates and questions, the developers never work on something they don't fully understand so the PM is a very important link to acquiring and interpreting client objectives.
There is always two way communication and regularly we are given recommendations on how certain functions could be better. The PM is happy to work on Slack, email and have calls when necessary.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Trust is a very important factor and I know that. Jelvix has gone above and beyond to make sure that they deliver on time and be flexible to our company's needs.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
None that I can think of

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director and CEO of Websun Solutions UG. We create web apps, websites, and mobile apps.
What challenge were you trying to address with Jelvix?
There are some things we can’t do in-house, so we hired Jelvix for their expertise.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Jelvix provides development support for four different projects. Overall, they handle a lot of complicated development mostly dealing with music recognition algorithms. The projects involve AI, so the work is very difficult. There aren't many companies that have the skills to work on such projects.
What is the team composition?
I got in touch with their CEO at the beginning of the engagement. I also work with a dedicated project manager on a daily basis. Our feedback usually gets to the developers through our project manager, but we schedule direct calls if necessary.
They have many developers specialized in different programming languages, but we tend to work with the same developers on our projects.
How did you come to work with Jelvix?
I posted a job on Upwork that received several replies. We considered different companies but in the end, Jelvix seemed to be the only reliable company by far. Their profile was also suggested by Upwork's team because they're top-rated on the platform. From the beginning, we knew they were the perfect fit for our needs; and they still are.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership began in April 2019, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their work has been amazing. I love how proactive they are especially considering that some of the jobs require a lot of research and complicated algorithms because we’re a very niche space. Jelvix is always offering solutions, and it’s clear they’re invested in our projects.
The development process was perfect because they built the tools correctly, took the time to do their research, and proactively identified and resolved bugs. Their team also tried to improve the tools along the way so they could be faster.
At every stage and level, they’ve been great and quick to deliver. I used to develop websites myself so my background helps me know for a fact that they’re super good at development. It’s been a great experience so far.
How did Jelvix perform from a project management standpoint?
They use Trello and Slack internally, but my team doesn’t so we decided to exchange files on Google Drive instead. We preferred this, and our project manager accommodated it. Our teams communicate on a regular basis and through Skype. When I have a question, they always provide an answer. Our project manager is always available, even on the weekends.
Something interesting about them is that they give us business development help free of charge. For example, during the first project, Jelvix did AI research and simultaneously offered to give us feedback on our overall idea. They gave us suggestions on how to implement different features.
In the end, we decided to use the script for the website. This means users can pull a video or audio from YouTube, SoundCloud, an mp3 file, etc. and get the chords to play along. Jelvix gave us suggestions on how to implement different features. I didn’t expect them to provide free consulting.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I really like the fact that they’re so proactive. Usually, developers will just complete the bare minimum but Jelvix offers many different interesting approaches that address our needs. Because they work in so many coding languages, there are always solutions.
At the end of a recent project, we noticed the solution wouldn’t really work with our server. Their team did a quick change and fixed it just like that. If we need anything, they always deliver and it’s amazing. I don’t know many companies with their level of skills and capabilities.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Overall, I’m very happy. The only thing that could be better is having the possibility to add new milestones to perform updates and bug fixes once a project is finished. They have monthly plans instead but it's not exactly the same. For smaller projects, that's a big issue.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Everything has gone smoothly. They’re nice to work with so go ahead and engage with them.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CEO and co-founder of a new funded startup aiming to disrupt the market with never before done app and web software.
For what projects/services did your company hire Jelvix?
We hired Jelvix for all iOS and Android app development, all our backend and database infrastructure, our custom content management system and a web based membership portal.
What were your goals for this project?
To produce a full-stack system on mobile and web that all work seamlessly together.
How did you select this vendor?
Having past experience with them on some major projects in my previous role I knew that the team at Jelvix had the communications skills, development expertise and drive to take on an ambitious project and make it work.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They helped to design and concept all backend and frontend systems. Once designed they swiftly moved on to the development of all systems concurrently (which is very hard to do). We were developing the backend infrastructure at the same time as the frontend web and app, which saved us a lot of time.
What was the team composition?
We had a core team of 5 developers all with their own expertise. There were times when they drafted in other developers with other skills to bolster the team and ensure success. Jelvix is very flexible to the needs of the project at certain times. There is never any compromise on quality. In addition to the devs, we have a dedicated project manager who ensures swift and accurate communication between us as a client and the developers directly.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Jelvix has created an award-winning app for us. We are, in our nature, a very disruptive company and the team at Jelvix fully understood this and aligned themselves with what we are trying to achieve. As the project progressed they scrutinized the scope and worked out ways to do what we wanted much more effectively. They have the knowledge to take an idea and make it a reality. In addition, unlike other development companies, the team at Jelvix is dead against technical debt. At every opportunity, they create clean code that is flexible and scalable which is extremely important.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
We have a dedicated project manager who is available during working hours. He is extremely engaged in our project and knows it better than anyone. There is flexibility here too. As a company, we use Slack and PivotalTracker. Jelvix adopted these platforms to conform to our way of working in the company.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their dedication to the cause. They have taken on our project as their own and have delivered with real passion. There have been some really tricky parts to some of this build, things that had not been done before. Instead of shying away and doing the easy things they threw themselves into it and come up with solutions.
Are there any areas for improvement?
There are very little areas for improvement needed in my opinion. Clearly, they have refined their processes to be near-optimal.

App Dev for At-Home Physical Therapy Application
“Based on my experience, I’m most happy with the ratio of cost to quality that Jelvix offers.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Switchback Health. We offer a home exercise application and software program for physical therapists, facilitating a smooth and effective way for professionals to create and share exercised with their patients.
What challenge were you trying to address with Jelvix?
We needed a vendor to develop our product. We were specifically looking to complete the first versions of the iOS app and web app.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Jelvix started providing full-service assistance from the very beginning of the project. Together, we refined our set of requirements for the UX/UI elements. From there, they guided us through and helped us with each stage of development—designing the apps, building the platforms, programming the backends, setting up databases, and several other tasks.
We completed an iOS version and a web-based version, and we have plans to build the Android version in the future. In the system’s current state, physical therapists can take videos or pictures of their patients at the time of treatment, then share those visuals to help guide their patients as they do their exercises at home. The physical therapists can also track patient progress, share messages via a chat function, and send alerts to remind patients to do their exercises.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a project manager, a designer, and a lead developer.
How did you come to work with Jelvix?
I heard about them through a friend.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent around $150,000 on this project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from December 2016–September 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
A huge challenge in the physical therapy community is encouraging patients to actually do their home exercises. The solution strengthens the relationship between doctors and patients and holds them accountable for their exercises in a more interactive way.
The apps themselves were very well developed. Since launching, over 1,500 patients have successfully used the solution, and we continue to receive praise for its quality and performance. The positive reaction speaks to Jelvix’s development work.
How did Jelvix perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated during in-person meetings, over the phone, and through email exchanges. Overall, their management and collaborative skills were excellent.
What did you find most impressive about them?
This is my first time working on a project, so I don’t have much to compare it to. Based on my experience, I’m most happy with the ratio of cost to quality that Jelvix offers. They’re a team of skilled developers and programmers, and their prices are competitive compared to others in the market.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t name any major areas of weakness for Jelvix. Given the regional differences, communication was a bit of a challenge, but we’re very happy overall.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the vice president of technology and product development for a small tech company owned by a real estate investment entrepreneur. My job is to oversee projects, find resources, coordinate them, and make everything happen.
What challenge were you trying to address with Jelvix?
The company began with our owner’s idea for an app. They had little experience with computers, so it was my job to determine the technology direction, high-level design, and resources necessary to execute. We turned to Jelvix as our development arm.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We came up with a detailed product spec with an analyst from Jelvix. From that, they developed resource and timeframe estimates and technology requirements. They were responsible for all the frontline development work. The app was for iOS and Android and had a web-based admin panel. They hosted it on AWS.
Currently, they’re working on a social network that facilitates issue-based communications and discussions. We want to encourage people to respond to questions about different issues with supporting documentation, references, and URLs in a well-mannered way. The system doesn’t generate user profiles as we want people to feel free to express themselves and their opinions without worrying they’re being turned into a product.
What is the team composition?
We started with a project manager and then added a couple of developers. There were front- and backend developers, database developers, a web developer, a part-time UI/UX designer, and a part-time QA resource. They were flexible and added other resources as needed.
How did you come to work with Jelvix?
Once I knew what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it, I started looking for specific resources located relatively near Atlanta—a good-sized tech hub in the area. I wanted to find a consulting partner that could help me with the development and some of the design, but I didn’t want to recruit an entire company
Lots of companies were willing to recruit people for us, but they didn’t have anyone on staff to do the work themselves. I ended up being referred to Jelvix by a cloud services representative I was talking to about our problems.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $200,000–$300,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from June 2016 until September 2018. We’re tweaking things now, but all the functionality is there. We’ll start beta testing in the next month or so.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve been getting great responses from our usability testing. One of the most important questions was whether users would find a set of tasks interesting or fun after going through them. Invariably, the feedback has been good. The graphic design, UI, and UX are cool and exciting thanks to what Jelvix brought to the table.
I’ve been working with computers for a long time and don’t have much experience with newer technology. Jelvix brought some of that current experience along with their relatively young perspective.
How did Jelvix perform from a project management standpoint?
I communicated with the project manager on a daily basis, and we periodically Skyped, either by ourselves or with the developers. I was concerned with how communication would work initially, but we talked over email and used Trello for document sharing.
The team mostly remained the same for the three years we worked together, and I only had one project manager. They have excellent English skills, so it’s not a problem that some of the developers don’t’ know it. I also had an outstanding experience with a designer they brought on.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They contributed new ideas and concepts to the table. Even when I had a decent idea of what I wanted to do, my project manager would email me after meeting with the developer or designer and share any ideas they had. I felt like they were true partners that took ownership of the project and weren’t just marching along to my orders. They provided not only knowledge, but enthusiasm, creativity, and ideas.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there wasn’t anything.
This review was updated on September 3rd, 2019, by the client. New content is below.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We previously submitted a review of Jelvix based on our work with them on a specific project. Since that time, we have been working with them on another project and this review reflects that experience. Jelvix is really great to work with, and it’s easy to give them a terrific review!
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Jelvix?
We were asked by a client to develop a proprietary social network that included features and functionality not found in any commercial product. Our budget was 1.2 million dollars and we were required to hit periodic benchmarks. We had about 18 months to develop, test, refine, and go live with the product.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We were already working with Jelvix on another project, so partnering with them on this engagement was the obvious choice. Having already established a productive working relationship with Jelvix, we could engage immediately with the project team that they assembled for us. As with our other project, Jelvix was deeply engaged in the entire life-cycle of development, from analysis to UI/UX design, from concept to coding.
What is the team composition?
As before, we had a dedicated project manager who was experienced in app- and web-based development work. Following the model we had established with our other project, we assembled a Ukraine-based team of frontend (iOS and Android) developers, a backend and database developer, a full-time QA tester, and graphic designers as required. We also had input and assistance from Jelvix’s chief architect, chief designer, as well as input from periodic focus groups.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We are planning to go live with this product in November. Fairly late in the game our client made changes to the product requirements, which they expected would set the development back by 6–9 months.
However, because of the modular nature of the product’s architecture, the effective use of agile Scrum methodology, and the high degree of motivation on the part of our development team, we were able to digest these changes and only add two months to the schedule.
How did Jelvix perform from a project management standpoint?
We have a dedicated Jelvix project manager, who deals directly with a dedicated US-based project manager. They communicate daily in English via email, Skype, and Trello.
To be clear, in the US we have executive oversight of the project, as well as a dedicated project manager. All other personnel are provided by Jelvix in Kharkov, Ukraine.
Whenever we needed some specialized expertise, for example in the area of data security, Jelvix was able to find an in-house or external expert who could provide the knowledge and direction that we required.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What most impressed us was the project ownership that Jelvix displays. Our developers are constantly giving us ideas and coming up with suggestions to improve the product. They are very highly motivated and excited to work on this project. Periodically, Jelvix assembles in-house and external focus groups to provide feedback on the design and functionality.

R&D Center for Blockchain-Based Project
“Jelvix is able to dive into a problem and understand it.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a marketing company that works with tech companies and startups. The project I've been a part of is an innovative digital content exchange platform with decentralized content licensing. We hired Jelvix to build an R&D center to bring our idea to life.
What challenge were you trying to address with Jelvix?
Our team wanted to create a high-level digital content exchange platform based on blockchain technology. We thought that our existing solutions weren’t good enough and that there were lots of problems that could be solved. We decided to go with an initial coin offering (ICO) to attract people and let them know about our platform and idea.
We needed a good team that could help us research our niche, identify the needed functionalities, and create a reliable, secure platform. This involved understanding our niche and industry problems, helping us figure out the best solution, doing UI/UX design, developing and testing the software, and preparing all the necessary documents for the ICO stage.
What was the scope of their involvement?
After conducting market research to identify existing problems, Jelvix helped us brainstorm the project concept. The team then helped us find the perfect set of functionalities and features of our future platform. For example, they introduced the idea of using AI to approve content rather than having a manual process, the latter of which is used now by all major digital media exchanges.
The project started with the MVP development. They recommended beginning with a mobile app because it was the easiest way to show and test our ideas with consumers. We had initially visualized a different design for the app but found that it wasn’t user-friendly at all. Jelvix found a better solution for us, designing a new UI/UX. The app was written as cross-platform, using React Native.
What is the team composition?
I worked with a UI/UX designer, a project coordinator, a core business analyst and copywriter who helped us with documentation, two backend developers, one frontend developer, and a QA tester.
How did you come to work with Jelvix?
I did some research and found that the market was saturated, which made it hard to choose. I asked friends, as I know a lot of tech companies and startups. One of them had worked with Jelvix on a small project and was completely satisfied with the experience.
I asked them about their expertize with blockchain and security as I wanted to know if they could provide business logic and market analysis. The last element was that they had a design team. Often, providers will have good engineering support, but design won’t be their strong point.
How much have you invested with them?
The first stage was about $80,000. Including the second stage and design, it came to more than $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from September 2017–March or April 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Photographers, content creators, and content consumers can use the platform now that it’s been launched to the market. Many of them were really amazed by the design. It’s striking and qualitative, while still being to the point. The security was also a huge plus point. They did security audits, ensuring that everything was perfect in that area.
We had an ICO presale phase, in order to get in touch with the community. We’ve had beta testers and people in the community downloading the app, receiving very positive feedback. We’ve gotten requests to develop the MVP further in terms of functionality because its performance is good.
How did Jelvix perform from a project management standpoint?
They used Jira for project management. We had someone in charge of supervising everything and reporting when each task would be accomplished, as well as who would do it and how.
The technical documentation was excellent: it described everything in detail, which helped me a lot. I’m quite controlling in this sense, so the project coordinator probably suffered from my numerous suggestions. I wrote to him constantly, and he handled it with confidence. We had frequent calls and I also received activity reports, so everything was really transparent.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I really valued the fact that they met all the deadlines as that was really important for me and my activities. I also think their attitude was impressive, particularly their approach to solving problems. Their team was on the same page as me: they were thinking about the market and functionality, as well as the expectations of the users. They focused on the business problem, rather than just the tech problem.
Are there any areas they could improve?

Custom Software Dev for Treatment Research Group
“I consider them partners, and couldn't have created this product without their help.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the founder and CEO of a research group. I started my company to respond to the pressing need for research in the addiction treatment field.
What challenge were you trying to address with Jelvix?
Three years ago, I came up with the idea for two products that would be useful for addiction treatment facilities. I've been working on this patient monitoring software with Jelvix for the last two and a half years. The program has ended up being very complicated.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our first product line monitors patients while they're in treatment. It screens for mental health conditions and assesses their satisfaction with treatment, then reports results to their clinicians in real time. Color-coded graphs make it easy to track patients’ progress and modify their care plans.
The platform is built on a MySQL database. It allows us to email or text patients when their next survey is due. We can also send alerts to the clinicians when a patient reports dangerous thoughts or behaviors. It exports a colorful PDF with all the data so we can do the aggregate analysis.
After starting with the initial product, we've developed three new versions for different aspects of mental health treatment and recovery from addiction. Our clients can log in to a web portal to access information. We follow up with patients at regular intervals after they leave treatment to hear about their quality of care and recovery success.
We're currently in the process of integrating with different electronic health records and creating a data analytics backend. The lead developer organizes everything. He oversees the work of integration engineers and data analytics experts around the world, as well as the team that works underneath him.
What is the team composition?
We've worked with one lead developer from the beginning who has been just tremendous. In the early days of our project, he worked by himself. At different points, up to two additional developers joined him. We've also had a couple of part-time project managers. The current one has been with us for close to two years now.
How did you come to work with Jelvix?
Jelvix responded to a request for a quote for the very first phase of the project I posted on Upwork.
What is the status of this engagement?
We've been working together since April 16 and are still adding more features.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Jelvix has been instrumental in building our company. I consider them partners, and couldn't have created this product without their help. We've accomplished our success on a minimal budget. They've given us a cost-effective way to develop a stable, reliable, and functional product, and have done an outstanding job.
We're growing rapidly and currently have a presence in 20 US states. As our client base increases, we've continued to expand the software. More extensive programs with more programs have started using our product.
How did Jelvix perform from a project management standpoint?
Jelvix manages our very complex project effectively. They help us figure out issues with time constraints, like when our data analytics team needs more time. We use Slack to communicate, have weekly Skype calls, and organize tasks with Trello.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We've built an incredibly complex software together. Jelvix helped us create beautiful, simple graphs that work in real time. The lead developer finds creative ways to solve the many challenging issues that come up along the way. On occasion, things have broken in the middle of the night in Ukraine. We were able to reach our development team quickly, and they fixed problems that were preventing our clients from using the software. Jelvix has been tremendously responsive and innovative. They helped us build our software company from scratch.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I'm very satisfied.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I can't think of anything.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the CEO of a development agency working with startups and corporates on innovation and digital transformation projects
For what projects/services did your company hire Jelvix?
Working with a corporate client to create a customized CRM for them which has been rolled out to c. 80 parties now
What were your goals for this project?
- Make automation for Client’s billing
- Implement flexible & User-friendly reporting
- Integrate time & tasks tracking
- Keep the history of relationships with Partners
How did you select this vendor?
This company was recommended to me by a friend who has worked with them and I have since worked with them on a number of projects
Describe the project in detail.
Our web application is a Customer Relationship Management system where Companies can see their vendors or partners and keep all important notes about invoicing, contract, etc. and build reports upon request. Lots of automation and workflows were created to simplify user inputs
What was the team composition?
We have had a Project Manager as primary contact. Our team was composed of five developers, 1 UI/UX designer and 1 QA engineer
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Very pleased with the outcome and having rolled out to c. 80 parties has really tested the platform and demonstrated product market fit!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Their involvement added value to our project from the start. They are not shy about making their opinions known if it can help the project. Overall, despite being a remote team, it's been flexible and fast.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
This Team can provide you with effective solutions basing on your ideas - sometimes taking a fairly high-level concept that I throw at them and coming back with intelligent options. Very flexible and client-oriented company.
Are there any areas for improvement?
During the project, we had to revise user journey and initially we tried to do that through conversation only, which did not work that well so wasted a bit of time. We then decided to do mock ups to show the changes and went through things in detail through skype screenshare which really helped. So yes there were areas for improvement but that's been solved.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the founder and CEO of Appy Ventures, a tech partner to both startups and corporates that are looking to innovate. We have launched more than 60 apps, websites, and tech solutions.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Jelvix?
One of our insurance clients wanted to expand a B2B insurance platform with APIs. We needed a team to take the project from an idea to reality, providing detailed specification, coding, and project management.
What were your goals for this project?
To confidentially and securely build APIs to integrate systems with the platform. A lot of technology debt and stakeholder management was required, so Jelvix were chosen for their flexible approach.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
I've worked with more than 200 developers in the last four years, and I usually run small test projects to get a feel of working relationship. I was looking for a team that could grow with me and, after a lot of online research, I found Jelvix, who had also worked with a friend of mine. We ran a test project with them, and it was excellent, both in terms of communication and code quality.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
I cannot go in details due to confidentiality, but it was a platform that connects the APIs of brokers to an insurance company, without the need for manual data entry in the process. We provided a top line scoping document which Jelvix built on after a workshop, adding edge cases and fleshing out the user stories. Once we had 100% clarity on the scope, we signed off on the work and the project was started properly.
What was the team composition?
I worked directly with a dedicated project manager, but we also had regular contact with the development team during daily 10-minute stand-up meetings. There were around six people on the project overall, with some scaling up and down for certain parts of the project. These transitions were all handled smoothly.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
Compared to UK-based developers, the cost is comfortably 50% less, but the quality is the same, if not higher. What mattered most to me was ownership of the project and the quality of the code delivered, which meant clear communication and hitting deadlines. They had to work weekends to finish on time, but they’d committed to a deadline and they hit it.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
This was a very important facet for me and was done well in an agile workflow. They used Jira and Slack, with standups on Skype. The language wasn’t an issue with the project manager, and though some of the developers were more comfortable in Ukrainian, it worked well overall and each team member made their opinions heard.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They’re very focused on developing the right solution in the most efficient way, without being afraid of challenging my assumptions if they felt they could improve the end result.
Are there any areas for improvement?
There’s nothing that I can think of. I was very impressed and have found a reliable partner for the future.
