Support and maintenance for The Economist
The Economist, a leading digital media publisher, had some of its 200 microsites crashing regularly. Having a good working relationship with Itransition, The Economist hired our DevOps team to solve the problem and provide further help with environment setup and automation.
As the project started, Itransition’s specialists found out the source of the problem lay in using an external API by the GeoIP module to define website visitors, so we implemented a new algorithm instead.
To help the customer build sites automatically and promptly update site versions, our DevOps team upgraded the existing scripts and developed new ones. This allowed The Economist to save up to 5% of the monthly environment management budget. Additionally, to help the customer separate their digital assets for optimized finance management and budget transparency, Itransition migrated 10 microsites to a separate AWS account.
Itransition is currently providing the customer with 24/7 support of the microsites, resolving urgent issues within 1 hour.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a senior product manager at a forensic ballistics company. We look at and analyze the evidence generated by firearms.
What challenge were you trying to address with Itransition?
We were looking for a competent software development organization that could help us scale very quickly. We had a very aggressive time-to-market timeline, and we wanted our partner to be as efficient as possible in helping us achieve our goals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Itransition helps us with multiple development projects on an ongoing basis. They have software developers working on our mobile app, other developers working on our web-based app, and others working on the backend infrastructure to support both of those products. Recently, we began collaborating on some AIML (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language) work as well.
They’ve designed and developed everything from scratch. Although I’ve provided them with a lot of product guidance throughout our engagement, the infrastructure, code, and databases have been completely built by them.
The mobile app acts as a 3D scanner, utilizing iOS devices and proprietary hardware to capture high-resolution photos so that we can perform analyzes on them. The web app helps us perform those analyzes, working as a virtual microscope.
What is the team composition?
We work with 20 team members from Itransition. Our main point of contact is Andrey (Head of Department), who helps me organize everything. We’ve also worked with other key resources from their team, including Maria (Project Manager), a backend developer, an iOS developer, and some AIML resources.
How did you come to work with Itransition?
My team and I had worked with Itransition on different projects before, and we were very impressed with the level of their services and the quality of their work. When this new project arose, it was a no-brainer for us to go with them again.
How much have you invested with them?
We spend around $80,000 per month. So far, we’ve spent over $360,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in October 2021, and our engagement is ongoing. I anticipate a continuous relationship with them for quite some time, as they’re helping us develop our entire software; there’s a lot to do.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I would give Itransition’s work high marks in every aspect. Their communication and execution skills are outstanding. Based on my experience, other contractors say they will do something, but they ultimately don’t execute the project properly. However, Itransition is very clear on their abilities and demonstrates them with their work.
Thanks to them, we’ve hit important milestones very successfully. We’ve already hit the alpha product milestone, and we’re on our way to hitting the beta product milestone. The quality of the code they deliver is great. In software development projects, it is very easy to cut corners. However, Itransition does a good job of ensuring that the product doesn’t accumulate a lot of technical debt, creating a more solid and mature product as a result.
How did Itransition perform from a project management standpoint?
Itransition has performed excellently; we couldn’t be happier. We have a very nice project management process that ensures everything is well-documented and prioritized on Jira. This process allows everyone to be clear about how important bugs are.
They hit our alpha product milestone on time and on budget, and we’re now trying to do the same with our beta product milestone. Meeting timelines and budgets is a very critical part of our project for us. This has allowed us to deliver on time so that we can raise more money and keep developing our product.
Besides Jira, we use Confluence, Whimsical for visual collaboration, Figma for the UI/UX designs, Slack to communicate on a daily basis, and Zoom to have virtual standing meetings every two weeks. Additionally, we have regular communication via email and phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Excellency is the most important characteristic of Itransition; they apply it to everything they do. I’m very impressed with their ability to step up very quickly to any challenge, execute tasks, and deliver products of high quality on time and within budget.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I’m very impressed with their work, and we wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we’ve achieved with a different vendor.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
If you’re on the fence about working with Itransition, don’t be. Jump on a call with them, lay out your requirements and vision, and let them do what they do best.

Web & Mobile Dev for Business Consulting & Software Dev Co
“Itransition has become a great partner due to their experience in building apps.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and founder of a private business registered in Germany and founded in 2013. Our services include business consulting, project management, and software development. We have a small team of 4–6 employees, and we expand our team depending on the demands of the projects we’re working on.
What challenge were you trying to address with Itransition?
As part of our efforts, we’re helping companies digitalize their analog processes to make them more efficient. Thus, we rely on Itransition to help us with web app development for B2B businesses.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve worked with Itransition for about 10 years. They’ve been involved in three major web and mobile app development projects consisting of a similar technology stack — Java for the web app’s backend and native iOS development for the mobile side. The development phase of the projects have already been completed, but Itransition continues to take care of system administration and other server-related work.
On the major project, we worked with Itransition on digitalizing a special vehicle repair process. The solution required handling a lot of information storage. Before, the process was completely paper-based, and the client occasionally used Excel sheets at best.
Thus, we first wrote the concept for the solution, created some mock-ups, and contacted Itransition to get the concept translated into a digital, technical solution. They developed this solution from scratch, using Java for the backend, PostgreSQL for the database, and HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS for the frontend.
We also wanted users to collect the data when revisiting the damaged vehicle. However, using a laptop would be difficult, so we decided to create an iPad solution on top of the web app. The mobile version allows users to take photos, customer signatures on documents, and more on-site data gathering processes. Once the data is gathered, the mobile app synchronizes with the web app so that users can have a current status of the repair process on hand.
What is the team composition?
The development phase of the larger project required very intensive work, so we had around 7–8 people from Itransition joining our team, including 3–4 web developers, two mobile developers, and a server engineer. Over our engagement, I’ve worked with 15-20 different developers, due to regular changes in team structure.
As for the work relationship my main point of contact is a designated project manager for the day-to-day tasks, who will help to structure the project and organize the team. There also would be a buisness unit manager assigned for any unusual issues or concerns. However, we frequently communicated with developers directly to avoid information loss during the communication process. Additionally, we have server admin contact and the server administration team to watch 24/7 over our servers.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $150,000–$200,000, if not more.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in May 2012, and our engagement is ongoing but on a very limited scale. There is no development work ongoing, but they’re still taking care of one of the solutions we built.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The paper-based processes of the vehicle repair project were completely eliminated, making said processes 5–10 times faster thanks to the digital solution. This solution also has improved the client’s work significantly by having a unified database, which has reduced errors and ultimately improved customer satisfaction.
Thanks to this solution, our client’s business has vastly grown over the last years. With the system support their project managers can handle about 5 times the volume, so scaling up was possible without having to increase team size. Also, the fully digitalized processs and the quality they deliver attract many new customer who would like to benefit.
How did Itransition perform from a project management standpoint?
Itransition is very organized and structured. Whenever something has come up outside of the original scope and budget, they’ve explained everything well and presented options to overcome the challenge. I’ve always felt that they know what they’re doing. We use Pivotal Tracker to document tasks, leave comments, and chat. Additionally, we use Skype to communicate.
Generally speaking, Itransition has become a trusted partner due to their experience and commitment.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Whenever we’ve worked with partners like Itransition, we’re always interested in seeing how they handle critical issues and challenges as they arise. I’ve really enjoyed working with them because they’ve walked the extra mile to help us out when these kinds of issues arise. For example, if we have an issue over the weekend that needs to be fixed by Monday, they bring someone over the weekend to get it fixed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
From a client perspective, I would prefer if development teams would not change that frequently, especially if you have somebody extraordinary. But I also understand that in order to attract these young talents, you need to provide them with new challenges every now and then.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Over-communicate to ensure that they understand everything you want instead of assuming it. Itransition has very talented developers, but they’re very young and lack business acumen, so you need to ensure that your requirements come across correctly.

For what projects/services did your company hire Itransition, and what were your goals?
Our website was created in 2016 to serve the Casino industry by providing Quality training and reporting tools for Casino employees. Itransition partnered with us to provide Software development and testing services.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
Our deciding factor for vendor selection was price and team consistency. We also wanted a full service team, which Itransition provided.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Ours is a Software as a Service model, as such the scope of this project has been ongoing. Early in the SDLC we focused on expanding our feature offerings to parity with competing Learning Management Systems, and later in our lifecycle we have focused on increasing Monthly and Daily usage of the site to increase value for our clients. Itransition has been a valuable partner in all stages of our SDLC.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
I personally work with a 6 team members from Itransiton. A product manager, business analysist, 2 developers, and 2 QA engineers.

Itransition's project Managment style is flexible and has been updated to fit our requirements multiple times. As of today we work under Agile Methodologies with daily stand-up meetings and by weekly sprint rituals. The Project Manager is a great asset to my roll as Product Owner in managing these rituals. We use Slack, Email, and the full Microsoft suite for communication.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I'm most impressed by the predictability of the Itransition team. They provide a full-service development team that delivers any tech we need to complete the site. This includes additional development resources that can be brought to bare if necessary, so we rarely miss a deadline due to development misunderstanding or inconsistency.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Early on in the SDLC we operated using waterfall methods. I would have switched to a full Agile process earlier to leverage the experience and talent that Itransition offers better.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an information management advisor and project manager for The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD). We’re a non-profit organization with roughly 30 in-house experts working to reduce the risk of explosive ordnance.
What challenge were you trying to address with Itransition?
We were looking for a new partner to develop some custom software. We originally worked with another partner, but they were unable to meet our needs.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Itransition has worked on a few projects with us. In one project, they developed a custom software system that allows organizations to collect data. Now they provide ongoing support for that system and one of our major tools.
What is the team composition?
We have worked with several people over the course of our engagement, including project managers and senior developers.
How did you come to work with Itransition?
We reached out to several companies, but Itransition had the best prices and was the most compatible with what we were looking for. I also went to visit their offices and found that they were authentic.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $300,000–$400,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together around May 2018 and our partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We run internal evaluation systems at the end of each year and we’ve been satisfied with their expertise and responsiveness. We’ve had no issues with the work they’re doing for us.
When we’ve worked on topics outside their area of expertise, they have been quick to train their team, listen to our direction, and provide appropriate solutions. Whenever we’ve run into unexpected issues, their support team has been able to overcome them. They’re always able to come up with solutions to satisfy us and our partners.
How did Itransition perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re available and responsive, even on weekends. As a result, they always meet their deadlines. They stay current on the tools we use, such as Jira and Confluence. On top of that, their time zone makes it easy for us to collaborate.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They provide solid solutions and are adaptable when faced with unfamiliar situations. They’re always working to improve and develop themselves further.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There isn’t anything they need to improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
There may be some communication challenges in the beginning as English is not their native language. Once you establish a baseline, however, it becomes much easier. It is nice to work with their team.

We needed help with app development.

They’re working on an AR application based on the specifications we provided. The team works on everything from conceptual planning and development to testing and the initial rollout. It’s a conceptual piece of technology that we’ll release in the fall.
What is the team composition?
I work with one senior project manager, two business analysts, 5–6 developers, and 3–4 QA specialists.
How did you come to work with Itransition?
I have a longstanding relationship with Itransition and they do amazing work. It was a no-brainer to select them.

We’ve spent $300,000 on this project, and our work is ongoing.
What is the status of this engagement?
The current project started in March 2020, and our work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The feedback has been really positive so far. All the stakeholders believe the app will be groundbreaking. We anticipate downloads will be in the hundreds of millions when we launch.
How did Itransition perform from a project management standpoint?
Communication is key for us, and Itransition is fabulous at keeping the lines of communication accurate. Everyone from senior management down to the developers communicate and speak English well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’ve never been able to match the talent we get at Itransition anywhere else in the world. Their technical proficiency is off the charts, and their blended rates are great.
Are there any areas they could improve?
When they produce written documentation, we can tell that it’s been written by a non-native speaker. They don’t always get all of the nuances. We make sure to proofread their work in case there are any grammatical errors. Otherwise, they’re rock stars who are excellent at what they do.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
My advice is to put them at the very top of your shortlist. I’ve done dozens of recommendations for Itransition, and it always works out.

Data Delivery System for Healthcare Organization

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m a Senior Computational Biologist at a community-based healthcare organization serving individuals and families in New York.
For what projects/services did your company hire Itransition, and what were your goals?
We needed the patient data stored within our ERP system to be unified and relocated to our revamped data warehouse. As our patient database was continuously growing, we needed an EHR-integrated ETL tool for transferring patient data into the data warehouse with no losses or corruption.
We wanted the warehouse to contain clean data on our patients’ length of hospital stay, status of health, readmissions, test results and other parameters for further analysis and reporting so we could timely detect any anomalies, identify treatment trends and contribute to clinical research.
How did you select Itransition and what were the deciding factors?
We looked through some highly-ranked IT companies and made a list of those suiting us best. We chose Itransition after an on-site meeting as we saw Itransition’s experience and portfolio perfectly met our requirements. Their past clients’ references were also essential for us.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
On our end, we provided a detailed description of the services we wanted, followed up by a few discovery meetings where we discussed the technicalities, deadlines, and methodology. From then on we got daily status reports.
In the end Itransition delivered the solution that really did its job: the custom ETL tool now extracts patient data out of our EHR without loss, transforms data into proper formats, and loads it into our data warehouse.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Itransition’s team we worked with included 4 developers, a solution architect, and a project manager who kept tabs on every project detail.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
As soon as we started leveraging the product, we got the first positive results: the clean unified data helped us spot that patients’ waiting time might be too long occasionally, so we could started acting on that. Overall, there’s much better visibility into our clinical data now.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Itransition never missed sending a report so we were in sync at all times during our cooperation. In general, we didn’t have any difficulties or understatement with Itransition.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
We actually saw how hard the team worked to meet our expectations and deliver on time and on budget. Their determination is what I could single out.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We were totally satisfied with their work, so no shortcomings come to mind. Some might say on-site collaboration would be better, but we think Itransition really does a great job as a remote vendor.
Thanks to Itransition, the client has an alpha version of their product, and they’re now working on the beta version. The team demonstrates excellent execution skills by delivering quality products on time and budget. They’re also up to any challenge and offer great project management processes.
