Loan Processing Application Dev for Lending Company
"The project was a complete success for us."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am one of the owners of SUISSE BANCORP. I’m a managing director and we are a lending company. We loan money to plaintiffs in lawsuits, either pre-litigation or post-litigation. We also lend money to attorneys for their businesses.
What challenge were you trying to address with Intellisys Technology?
At the time, our business was growing and we needed a way to keep track of the financial end of it. We were using QuickBooks, but we needed to be more client-based.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We were asked to provide certain types of reports to our lending institutions or our bank. We also have outside investors or other funding sources that lend us money, and we needed to keep track of their accounts as well. When we partnered with Intellisys Technology, they gave us a plan. We had some meetings where we were able to discuss what we needed. Then, the team built it.
They used AngularJS and NodeJS to create an internally facing loan processing financial application. The platform allowed us to input the name of the borrower, information about their case, what they borrowed, the interest rate, and a per diem amount. This program also allowed us to put in whichever sources the funds came from. After lending the money out and waiting days, weeks, months, or even years for the case to settle or if the loan is paid off, the money comes back in.
We also have input for money that was returned with its interest accrued. The program then spits out many different types of reports that we ask from it. After they finished the application, we did a lot of testing on it to make sure that the figures that were being generated were accurate. Intellisys Technology also made sure that it was user-friendly.
What is the team composition?
We had one main contact, but we also spoke to other team members. The main point person was in charge of the communication including emailing and answering telephone calls.
How did you come to work with Intellisys Technology?
My husband and I were playing golf, and we were paired up with people from Intellisys Technology. We didn’t even talk about our businesses until we got to the ninth hole. When we arrived there, we started sharing about what we do. I told them that we didn’t have anything sophisticated, so we sat down after a round of golf and they asked us for a description of what we needed.
After that, they probably spoke with their team to put together a proposal. Since we were growing, it seemed to fit at the time. We weren’t technically competent so we didn’t really know where to turn, so when they came and crossed paths with us, it was serendipity.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $10,000 on our recent project, but our overall spending was around $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We collaborated with them in October–December 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our platform could go from certain dates, from a point in time and back and forth — it was just a great program for our industry. I don’t know of anyone else who used a similar platform, but it was just perfect for our business. They were able to develop everything we wanted and needed at the time. The project itself didn’t drag out. With the time difference, we would send them things and when we got to the office, they already finished sending out deliverables we needed to look at. More importantly, we are still using everything they developed up to this day. Overall, it was a good relationship.
How did Intellisys Technology perform from a project management standpoint?
Our communication never stopped even if they were doing things at night. They always made sure that they worked on our schedule as opposed to their schedule despite our time difference. The whole teamwork approach was impressive. I really couldn’t say a single negative thing about the project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Sometimes we would get frustrated if we didn’t know more about the technical part of the platform, but they just kept walking us through it. We did a lot of things over Skype which was new to us. They helped us along — that was probably the best thing about all of this.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, I don’t have anything to say here.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Perhaps, they could do it the exact same way I did — I spoke to the top guy, to begin with, and from there, I had a few meetings and was introduced to their team leader. Everything just flowed from start to finish. The project was a complete success for us.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an executive at EBRM.
What challenge were you trying to address with Intellisys Technology?
We had a major restructuring project of our processing system that was over budget. Intellisys had much more reasonable costs, so we partnered with them to rebuild the system.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Their team built a new processing system for HRA and FSA claims processing. When we receive a claim from BlueCross’s system or an employer, we pay the claim on their behalf underneath the deductible. Intellisys helped us redo that system.
Testing initially took a long time and stalled the project. To solve that challenge, Intellisys automated testing. Their team enabled us to create a clean data set for testing. We also struggled with reporting through our old system. Intellisys developed a solution for automated reporting. Their team worked on the database with Unix.
Another challenge we face involves the amount of paper we receive. When an individual or small group case is sold for BlueCross, they send it here to process. We do all of the renewal, which creates tons of paper. Intellisys is working on a simple way for us to manage renewal requests and route them to the appropriate work area.
What is the team composition?
Depending on the project, we’ve worked with 2–4 people from Intellisys. I primarily work with a project manager because I’m not technical.
How did you come to work with Intellisys Technology?
I interviewed a couple of different development agencies and connected with Intellisys through a mutual contact. Their team submitted a detailed project plan.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent between $2,000–$4,000 a month on their services per year.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started our ongoing relationship around March 2018.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I don’t have the in-house expertise for these projects and Intellisys fills in that gap. I’m happy with what their team delivered so far.
At first, I was skeptical about the engagement because I anticipated issues with our differences in time zones. However, their team completes their work during our evenings and then send it to us for review during our mornings. We have a decent rhythm.
How did Intellisys perform from a project management standpoint?
We normally communicate via email every day. Their team mostly sends reports to me.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their team can talk with non-technical people like me. What stands out is their cost. They’re affordable. Their team also understood my desire to use Microsoft SQL but said it would be more efficient if we used their system. That was helpful. They gave us a thorough scope, but I can also talk with their team and ask questions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would be helpful if they could base people near us.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It would be easier on all parties if you had your own technical resources.
