Please provide a description of your company.
We're an IT [information technology] services firm that has evolved into a mobile app developer. We design and build enterprise and industry-specific apps, including games, travel, and entertainment apps. The majority of our apps are "public," meaning free to download and use. All of our apps are free of advertising, free of interruptions, and feature in-app purchases.
What are your role and responsibilities?
I’m the president of the company.
What was your goal in working with Inflectica Technologies?
We built our first app in-house with limited resources and, through that process, we realized that we needed to find a firm to help us execute some of our bigger projects.
Please describe the scope of their work.
They do both front-end and back-end design and development. However, they offer us more than just basic coding. When we first started talking, they made suggestions as to what we should do after the app launched. As someone new in the app development space, we hadn’t given a thought to maintenance, upgrades or different screen sizes. This resulted in a constant process of improvement, and they were the first ones to recommend this kind of potential to us.
They take care of everything now, and we’ve started to give them Web work as well. Our flagship app was created for a large, multibillion dollar business as an enterprise app, and it has some consumer features on the front end. They did a super job with that. It has about 49 screens and took several months to complete. It’s still our flagship app, and we get tons of downloads every day. With their Web work, we’ve started giving them all sizes of projects that we get from our clients.
What was your process in selecting Inflectica Technologies with which to work?
My Java programmer recommended them. We gave them a test project to see how they worked out. Not only did they perform well, they were making suggestions that we hadn’t thought of, and that’s always a good thing.
Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?
We’ve spent around $160,000 working with Inflectica.
Do you have any statistics, metrics, or general feedback from their work?
We get great feedback from end users and also from businesses that do business with us. Everything they do is great and always works – that’s a huge thing. Even after a job is done, if something needs improvement they’re all over it and without hitting us with a bill.
They have tremendous pride in their work. I really like their conscientiousness. Our customers are very happy, and that’s reflected in not only our downloads, but in the nice comments we get. Right before we were launching an app for one of our customers, Inflectica found issues with it that we never saw. They caught it and fixed it before it got too far along.
We do get regular reports from them that detail the status of their current projects, so I don’t have to bug them. They give me the feedback the way we want it, rather than us having to chase them down, and that’s hugely important when we have a lot of other work going on.
Is there anything unique about Inflectica Technologies that really makes them stand out compared to other companies?
They always seem to understand what we’re shooting for. They are very good at listening and giving us feedback, and are not frightened to tell us when something won't work.
Their listening skills are fantastic. They understand not just my words, but also the meaning behind them – what I think the client really wants. They understand our goals and what we’re trying to accomplish, and provide us will great feedback.
Last thing they have a great humility about them, and will tell me if they mess up, which is rare, without trying to hide it or lie about it. They always fix their errors immediately.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or something that you might do differently?
There is absolutely nothing I can think of at the moment. I feel very lucky to have found them.

Offshore Development Partnership with Design Studio

Please describe your organization.
We have two locations: one in Chicago and one in Florida. We do Web development, mobile development, print, graphics – anything designer programming-related.
What is your role and responsibilities?
I am the owner.
What was your goal for working with Inflectica Technologies?
As we’ve grown as a company, we had to partner with other companies because we need scale. When I was a smaller firm, my employees and I would do the work, but now we’re growing so much. Inflectica had to take more of our projects. They are now the sole developers on all our websites and mobile apps.
Please describe the scope of their work.
They do design, but their design is my vision of what the front end should look like. Then they program it in. If it’s a WordPress site, iOS, or Android apps. They do support and training for us, too. That helps us tremendously. They do the training with our clients for the ones that want to manage their own website. Their role has grown. They deal with the clients themselves now. We record everything, so I still know what’s going on.
What was your process for selecting Inflectica Technologies with which to work?
I reviewed a bunch of companies. One of my friends recommended me to them. He knew the owner there. I looked at their portfolio, and I called all of them. I like that they’re available 9 to 5 Eastern Time. That tends to be a problem when you’re going offshore with some of the work. They even have an 813 number, which is where I am in Florida.
I gave them some dummy projects. I wanted one firm for everything. I first reached out to them for mobile app stuff and they had 20 apps on iTunes and 30 in Google Play. I reviewed all of them on my phone. I reached out to the owner [Deepak Sinha] and told him what my vision was. I asked if he was interested in that. Their English is really good.
Can you give a sense of the size of the initiative in dollar terms or a personnel work-hour figure?
They do our bigger projects. It was from $50,000 to $150,000.
When was the work completed?
It’s been two years now, and the work is ongoing.
Do you have any statistics or metrics to track improvement from the project?
The quality of the work is very high. They gave a demo through each part of the project. They make sure they are available for the end client. We got good reviews.
Are you satisfied with their performance?
We help each other out. There’s some things they know that I don’t and some things that I know that they don’t. They’re organized and they’ve hit all the deadlines. Before we go on a project, they try to figure out all the problems before we even win the work. They give me a proposal with everything covered. The cost effectiveness is good for me. They do development in small milestones and that brings down the total cost. They finish projects before the timeline.
Is there anything unique or special about Inflectica Technologies that really makes them stand out compared to other business partners?
The best thing is they’re available whenever you need them. That’s very unique for an overseas firm.
What advice would you give to future clients of theirs?
The best advice I could give is to hear them out. Let them guide the ship. There might be another way to do something that’s more efficient for your business or for your timeline. I would say listen to them. Pick their brain. Don’t assume you know everything.
Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think they could improve upon or that you might do differently?
Everything’s good for now. As we grow together, they’re very open to ideas or suggestions I have. They’ve shown flexibility as we’ve grown.
The team suggested some options for post-app development, which had previously not been planned but received great results. Inflectica Technologies’ work has gotten good user feedback. The team takes pride in their work, often not charging for small fixes. They are communicative and responsive.
