According to Joe, even people with vision would be able to enjoy the game if they pretend to be blind by closing their eyes.

E-Commerce Development for Specialty Tea Shop
"The team was technically very astute and understood our requirements very well."

the review
The client submitted this review online.
Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the Co-Founder and CEO of a speciality tea company based out of the UK. We sell tea and infusions through our e-commerce website and other online platforms.
For what projects/services did your company hire Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and what were your goals?
In 2013, when we launched the business we hired Indus Net Technologies to build an e-commerce website for us so that we could have a web presence and sell online.
Our main goal was to create a website that looked professional and presented us as a serious business despite us being a complete start-up with zero credibility.
How did you select Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and what were the deciding factors?
We conducted our research and shortlisted 3 companies out of which Indus Net Technologies emerged as clear winners as they were quite transparent in their estimate and proposals. In terms of cost, they were very competitive.
Although not the cheapest, they gave us the confidence that they had the right set of technologies, skills and scale to be able to deliver on their promises and that there wouldn't be any further hidden costs or surprises.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Being new in the field, we relied a lot on the skills and expertise of Indus Net Technologies. Once we signed up, we were assigned a project team with a team leader who guided us through the entire process and gave us some very valuable suggestions.
We were advised to get the website built on Magento which is a very robust and reliable platform for e-commerce websites. We were also offered advise on web-hosting platforms, etc.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
3 people including a Senior Software Engineer, Project Lead and a Relationship Manager
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We were absolutely delighted with website when it was launched in August 2013. It had everything that we wanted in the website.
Over the years the site traffic and sales have increased gradually. On average we now have over 1000 page views per day, over 1500 registered customers and over 20,000 newsletter subscribers.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We received a weekly update from the project lead by email which was usually followed up with a Skype call that included the Software Engineer too.
Apart from the weekly calls, whenever we had any query or wanted to discuss an issue, the team was readily available despite the time zone differences betweeen the UK and India.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The team was technically very astute and understood our requirements very well.
Are there any areas for improvement?
None

Android App Dev for International Development Firm
"They were always available, which was reassuring and helpful."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re an international development firm. We also do domestic and environmental research.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Next Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We set up a hub and spoke private sector network with the hub as the directly observed therapy center, so a clinic or hospital. The spokes are facilities that funnel into the center. This model was to increase the detection of tuberculosis. Everyone used a paper-based screening form. It was difficult to track samples and patients for testing. We wanted to digitize that process so that we could more easily understand where there was a break in the system as well as have quicker notifications on case detection.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Indus Next Technologies developed our Android application. Their team was specifically on the programming side of the project. We had design workshops with our stakeholders and then another agency translated those ideas into specifications. Indus took those specifications and programmed them. Their team refined the app and made sure to troubleshoot features that didn’t work as expected. Indus is transitioning the development of our app and data portal to a local firm.
What is the team composition?
We had two primary points of contact.
How did you come to work with Indus Next Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
The agency that helped us to design our app introduced us to Indus.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested about $100,000 on Indus’ services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the contract in February 2019 and we’re still working together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We piloted the app and we’re currently rolling it out. Our goal is to scale the platform, so we’ve got big plans. We have about 600–700 users registered but we're still revising the app. We're happy that we're able to have a lot of users while continuing to scale the app. The app has good functions. It enables better connections between facilities and reporting from facilities.
How did Indus Next Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?
Our points of contact were responsive. I had a positive experience working with them. Their project management was usually clear. I always knew what to expect and when to expect it, which I liked.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were professional. The project got heated at times because we would be stressed and our client would be stressed. Indus always kept their cool and troubleshot any problems. They were always available, which was reassuring and helpful. Their availability was exceptional given the time difference.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They don’t use WhatsApp but our whole program uses it. That made it harder for us to communicate. We used Slack, which was fine for the more technical people. One of our client’s main complaints was that we moved too slowly. I wouldn’t attribute that to Indus because we made a big design shift midday through.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s easier to have a clear set of specifications coming into the project. It’s better to have an understanding of design and programming processes. The wireframes weren’t important to our project. We created them but scrapped them because we took too long going back and forth.

Full Stack Web Dev for Java-Based Client Portals
"Hiring their team is the equivalent of hiring senior technical resources.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of software development and my organization runs financial payment systems for point of sale, mobile, and ATM traffic in Canada.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We were looking for an outsourcing partner with a specialized skillset.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They provide full-stack web development for Java for some client portals. Right now they’re working on three sites. They’re static websites. But we keep them upgraded and we keep adding features. Our clients use these portals to bring new types of point of sale terminals onto our system. There’s also security and other software that need to be deployed from these portals, but they need to be provided in a cloud environment. They continue to provide support.
What is the team composition?
We have an account manager, and depending on the project, we have about fifteen people assigned to us.
How did you come to work with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We got a recommendation from a senior VP who worked with them in the past. We looked at a few other companies, but they had too much overhead.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $100,000 per year (approximately $200,000 so far).
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in March 2018 and we are still working together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We do production implementation and testing. We found that although initially, they had more defects, once they started to understand our business, they’re down to the standard number of defects that we’d expect in any production implementation. We also do code acceptance and we’re involved in code review before it moves into QA.
How did Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?
It’s definitely a collaboration. Their project manager works with our project manager. We use spreadsheets to collaborate. We communicate by Zoom and instant messenger. We also have regular project meetings.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’ve worked with developers, and typically, there’s a much longer learning curve. When they say they have certain skills, they really do have experienced team members with those skillsets. Hiring their team is the equivalent of hiring senior technical resources.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We did have to learn how to communicate with them because they’re an offshore environment. They’re twelve and a half hours remote from us, so we needed to make sure our schedules lined up. They had to work later in the evenings and we had to work earlier in the day. Once we figured that out, everything went smoothly.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure you have well-written requirements. There’s a learning curve for anyone working in a new industry. It also helps to work earlier so it’s easier to communicate with them.

App Dev & Maintenance for Management Consulting Practice
“They’re very willing to work to make things happen for you. They’re good partners.”

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of PTI, a management consulting practice.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We needed access to a pool of experts in technology. We also wanted project management for the onboarding and hiring process.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Indus Net Technologies developed a timesheet management app. It was based on the Microsoft Stack, .NET framework, C#, SQL backend, HTML, and JavaScript. They were also able to find the skills I was looking for. They do a lot of feature enhancements and maintenance on the app.
What is the team composition?
I’ve worked with three different people so far. They work remotely.
How did you come to work with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
They were referred to me by my brother who had done some work with them through his company. It worked out well for him.
How much have you invested with them?
My company has spent over $85,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in September 2016, and it’s ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their performance has been very good. There haven’t been any challenges that we haven’t been able to overcome. The developers are usually on time, and they work diligently. When I have a need for a certain key resource, they’ve been very responsive in getting back to me or finding someone for me. The feature enhancements have improved the workflow for the people who are using the application.
How did Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is very good. Whenever I have a need or question, they’re very responsive. They keep deliverables on track. We communicate via online conferencing and email. We do project tracking and handle tasks and issues on GitHub.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re very willing to work to make things happen for you. They’re good partners.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Sometimes I have developers who come in with certain skills, and they could have probably had better skills. If they could do a lot of in-house trainings or have sessions to improve the skills of individuals, that would be the gravy on the top.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Make sure what you’re looking for is clear to yourself. Thoroughly interview the resource you’re going to work with. Talk about the projects and get fully comfortable before you bring anyone on board.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of ePayRails, a B2B payment engine. We take care of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and transactions between vendors and clients, providing customers with different payment modalities.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We needed a technology team to help us develop a quality platform on a budget. Some of our investors requested that we come up with a proof of concept in order to affirm that we’re able to deliver.
What was the scope of their involvement?
It was their responsibility to build help us bring our idea to life and create an MVP. We’re an AWS shop, so we worked in JavaScript using a Spring Framework. They also used microservices.
What is the team composition?
Right now, we work with a 10-person team. We’re planning to increase the headcount to 25 in the near future.
How did you come to work with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We found them through word of mouth. One of my colleagues was representing them and referred them to me. She had used their services, speaking very highly of them. When I left my previous position to start at my current company, I remembered them and decided to give them a shot.
How much have you invested with them?
At this point, we’ve spent between $200,000–$1,000,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started collaborating in April 2018, and our team still work together.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
In short, we obtained our funding, now we’re off to the races. Their team delivered the product in record time, which impressed our investors. Because of their development, we have a healthy sales pipeline and are in the process of doubling our staff to build out more product features.
We asked for specific project features and happy customers. They’ve completely met our standards for those.
How did Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?
The project management was the best part because the manager was competent and able to communicate between teams. They provided us a free project manager, which shows they understand the importance of project management to the success of a relationship.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They put the customer’s success above their own. With a client-centric relationship, it ends up being a win-win situation. I found a tremendous amount of value in our collaboration because felt like they were part of my own team. Their fair pricing and thought leadership are crucial to our success.
Are there any areas they could improve?
In terms of DevOps, our standards appear to be different. That’s the only weakness I see as of now. However, that may be impacted by the quality of research I assigned to the project.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
When you’re outsourcing any agency, it’s important to recognize that they’re adjunct to your development. Without actively engaging them and adopting them into your culture, you might have a hard time. Through the project manager they provided us, we were able to fit them in as an extension of our team.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the COO and co-founder of The Mobility Marketplace. We buy, sell, and recycle preowned and new cell phones. A lot of our customers white label our product, so you’ll see our product on the shelves with another company’s label.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We were trying to automate our backend processes by integrating our web interface with our shipping and customer SRP.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They rebuilt our open-source website from the ground up, utilizing Magento for e-commerce and Linux for cron jobs, or automated scheduling. The new platform allows us to have multiple “parent-child relationships” (e.g. relationships with related stakeholders) that want to use our platform to promote what they do. The backend is tied together which lets us pull reports. Integrating several APIs, the new system lets customers track order shipments.
What is the team composition?
We have a project leader who helps manage communication between our team and theirs, and about 3–4 other people working on our project at any given point.
How did you come to work with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We decided to look at outsourcing options abroad to help us stick to our budget. We knew that there could be some tradeoffs regarding the time difference and communication issues, but ultimately decided that it would be worth it to work around those challenges.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working on the project in January and development is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don’t have any metrics because we’re still in the development phase, but they have moved on to testing and implementation. At the beginning of development, they were very good at managing the milestones we needed to reach.
How did Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?
They have a great documentation platform that helps us communicate. It catalogs a history of our notes and theirs. We’ve faced a few challenges since we have an 18-hour time difference. Now that we’re testing, it’s more of an issue. But we’ve caused delays on our side as well. They’ve worked late to help us a few times too, but that was outside the norm. This project could have been completed in four months, but now it has been closer to a year.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve stayed within our budget. If we were working domestically, the price would have been 2–3 times more than what we paid.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would be really helpful if they had a 24/7 support team.
This review was updated by the client on April 28, 2020. The original star ratings were: Overall - 4, Quality - 4, Schedule - 3.5, Cost - 5, NPS - 5. New content is below:
How did you select this vendor?
Met with several vendors at various trade shows over a 3 year period.
Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.
They utilized our current 3rd party platform as a skin template as our baseline for the look, feel and functionality we currently had and then made the necessary changes including new code to automate our processes and allow us to not only grow our brand but showcase our value utilizing our platform as a Saas.
What was the team composition?
The project team on our side comprised of approximately 20 internal and external personnel and Indus provided a team of 10 with varying expertise as needed during various milestones during the entire process.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
We have some preliminary cost impacts from production efficencies that have lowered labor cost by 300%. Last phase of project is currently being finalized.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
Although, we have had a few challenges with time zone scheduling for conference calls etc. the overall project management tools utilized to communicate 2 way between all vested personnel has worked quite effectively.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Their level of commitment to take care of customers during and after every milestone was is impressive.
Are there any areas for improvement?
Taking time on the front end to make sure all flow charts of expected outcomes and processes where clearly defined and agreed to from all vested parties to assure an accurate and positive outcome.

App Development for International Dev Tech Company
"They’re adaptable, accommodating, available, and just incredibly smart."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re a technology company within the international development sector working on social impact projects in developing countries, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa. I’m the head of project management.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We had a very large international development client who wanted us to build an Android mobile healthcare app in Nigeria. We have a whole range of teams, but no one who specializes in Android.
We looked to Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to help design and build an Android app to be rolled out in the private healthcare system in Nigeria.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. developed an app for screening tuberculosis. At the moment, there’s a paper form system in place, and we digitized it all by allowing different types of users (medical and nonmedical staff) to record things on the app. There’s a complex referral system between test labs and results.
The whole logical flow between all referrals works through four user types in the app. It’s an incredibly complex app in terms of user flows and different types of users.
They also helped build an open-source data portal for reporting and accessing the data on the backend.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with two people from their team, a customer success manager, and a project manager. Behind them would be a designer and Android and backend developers, who we don’t need to manage. We’re aware that they’re there, but the interaction is done with the other members on the team.
How did you come to work with Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We’d already worked with them on other projects in a smaller capacity. They’re becoming a preferred supplier of ours whenever we need help with Android design and development and technical customer support.
How much have you invested with them?
Our investment with them has been $20,000–$30,000 to date, but we’re planning to renew the contract.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in March 2019, and it’s ongoing. We haven’t fully launched the platform yet
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve actually rolled out a small release, and are planning for a bigger one in September 2019. The app is available as a beta in the Nigerian Play Store. The release is controlled, so there aren’t many numbers to talk about, but the client’s really happy with all that we’ve done, and we can see that they’re also really fond of the developers they have contact with. The client’s not just working with us; they’re aware of and impressed by Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. as well.
It’s not innovative to build an Android app in general, but it is for the area in which we’re working. No one’s ever done anything like this in Nigeria, or in the rest of the world, in fact. We’ll be rolling out to other countries in the future.
How did Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?
We hadn’t worked together on a project before, so we hadn’t developed any processes together. It was a bit slow to get going, but we’ve got processes established now, so it’s very good. What’s impressive to me is that they work really hard behind the scenes, and they really listen, to make sure that issues don’t repeat themselves.
Once we got into a rhythm, it felt like we were one team. We were in different locations, but it really didn’t feel like they weren’t a part of our company. We have a really close relationship with them. We don’t normally do this with suppliers, but they are brought into client calls and allowed to lead them.
Most of our clients and key stakeholders are in America, and we have stakeholders in Nigeria for this project. My team is in the UK, Cape Town, and Nigeria, and They are in India. We all have to meet very frequently, and they’ve been very accommodating.
They’ve demonstrated great leadership, and really showed they have fantastic technical aptitude in explaining things to nontechnical people in a very nice way. The experience of working with them has been great. They’ve had to go over scope and budget, but they just stepped in and worked long hours whenever they needed to, and took responsibility.
There are times when they need to explain technical items to me, and they do it in a way that’s completely not patronizing. They constantly handle client meetings, and they’re really good at explaining the pros and cons of solutions.
We mainly use Slack to communicate, along with a bit of Basecamp and email. I have 1–2–hour Slack calls with them every morning. I can really rely on them, and that reliability is huge.
What did you find most impressive about them?
One of the things about Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is that they’re very professional, and they’re very professionally organized and setup. When we need various resources, like an open-source developer, they can offer a wide range of developers at hand, and they have the capacity to build teams the way we need them to. They’re adaptable, accommodating, available, and just incredibly smart.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It’s a bit difficult to say. There were things that were needed in this project that neither of us knew about, based on the assumptions we were given. It’s not really a matter of improvement, but now we know we need it, we can ask for it. Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. has gone above and beyond the call of duty, considering the circumstances. Anytime I’ve asked them to improve anything, they worked hard to improve it.
We all make spelling mistakes, given that we’re working with complex Latin medical terms. When they’re not good at things, they’ll just tell us. It’s impossible to ever get upset with them.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Clients should be clear about what the scope is. They need to understand that they need to go into a lot of detail about what they’re expecting and what the requirements are.

Web and Mobile Development for SaaS Product

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the CEO oat SOMAX, Inc. We’re a computerized maintenance management/internet of things (CMMS/IoT) software development company.
For what projects/services did your company hire Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd.?
We initially hired Indus Net Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to develop our mobile apps for iOS and Android. We were impressed with their work and how easy it was to collaborate with them, so we continued to contract them to help build our web apps.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to get our SaaS product to market and convert our existing "on-premise" customers over to our new SaaS model.
How did you select this vendor?
We initially searched online for contract outsourcing companies. We liked Indus Net’s reviews, so we decided to do a pilot mobile app project to see if we could work with them.
Describe the project in detail.
They helped us develop and bring our SaaS product to market, which involved a web app and mobile apps. In the beginning, we attempted to work with the project team remotely but found this to be difficult. So, we sent our development lead to India to work with them for about six weeks, during which they developed a working process. We would develop and provide specifications to our Indus Net project lead, and he would coordinate the work with his project team. They’d then build out the functionality identified by our specs. We’ve since started using their other services, including MS Azure technical assistance.
What was the team composition?
We work closely with two project managers: one for the web application and another for the mobile applications. In turn, the project leads work with their teams to divide and prioritize the tasks. The core team also consists of eight developers. For a large project that has lasted most of 2018, we’ve added four developers in January and an additional four developers in August.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We’ve converted approximately 60% of our on-premise clients to the SaaS product since starting the offering. We’ve also sold subscriptions to at least as many new clients after beginning the sales effort. We're looking forward to continual and additional success selling subscriptions in the future.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
It was initially difficult to develop a workflow where we could get our ideas across to the project manager and then have them implemented in the software. This was due to a combination of cultural and communication issues. However, once we made the effort to visit them on site and worked directly with their project managers and executives, our workflow smoothed out. Now, we don’t need to visit them as much and can handle things remotely.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
We enjoy working with Indus Net. They seem genuinely interested in the projects that we’re doing and perform well. One of their most impressive traits is their ability to problem solve when issues arise.
Are there any areas for improvement?
We have a good working relationship with Indus Net, but, as with any relationship, there is room for improvement. The one area where we tend to have issues is with final testing of development work. At times, we’ve received code that doesn’t appear to have been tested thoroughly enough.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the head of development at CASHPOINT. We offer sports betting solutions to the public. We operate online and in several European countries.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Net Technologies?
We were working on a few large projects and we needed additional development resources.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our main product is a sports betting software that we use on the Internet and at our terminals. Indus is mostly helping us with the frontend of our software. They're part of our scrum teams and participate in our weekly release cycles. We usually give them the requirements and they create the designs. After we approve their designs, they do the coding.
What is the team composition?
We work with 35–40 members of their team, including dedicated project managers.
How did you come to work with Indus Net Technologies?
Our CEO met them at a fair in London. He was confident Indus would do a great job, so he hired them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in May 2013 and the relationship is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They successfully execute all the tasks we give them and deliver everything on time.
How did Indus Net Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
They're very responsive and do a great job. It took us a little while to establish stable communication, but we have a very smooth process now. We fly to India every three to six months to meet with them. The rest of our communication is via email, video calls, and chat.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They're very committed. They're always willing and able to complete our tasks, even when we have very tight deadlines. They've even worked evenings and weekends if that was necessary.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It'd be easier for us if they were a bit more proactive and asked us questions to clarify our requirements.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
In the very early stages of the process, you need to make sure they understand your business and your requirements.

Ongoing Development Support for Software Company
"We haven’t found a software house that matches Indus Net Technologies in quality or productivity."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CTO of MarkIT Systems Limited. We develop, maintain, and support complex financial transactional systems for the London insurance market.
What challenge were you trying to address with Indus Net Technologies?
We engaged Indus Net Technologies as our technology partner; they provide programming resources to carry out our development work.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Indus Net Technologies has worked with us over numerous projects. One project involved rebuilding a system for an insurance company. We spent 18 months with Indus Net Technologies specifying what we want to rewrite and what the project’s requirements were. The team then rewrote the codebase to create a configurable base system. They completed work with a mix of agile methodology and the waterfall model. They have built an MVP of the system so far.
For every project, Indus Net Technologies completes the work using sprints. We use daily standups and scrums to address concerns and then review the sprints’ results weekly. We’ve found it valuable to break up project tasks into smaller pieces. We also invest time into teaching team members our industry's terms such as loss ratios and claim triangulation to inform their work for us.
What is the team composition?
We work with 13 people at Indus Net Technologies, but the team scales up or down as needed. We’ve worked with up to 70 people for a few projects.
How did you come to work with Indus Net?
Back in 2004, I had a piece of work that our UK developers couldn’t do—the integration of a secure payment gateway onto a client’s e-commerce platform, which required some C# programming—so I put the job on RentACoder. Indus Net Technologies picked it up. In 2005, they did another small project with us—building a text-to-insured platform. They performed well enough that I started using dedicated developers from their team instead of on a project-by-project basis.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $750,000–$800,000 per year with them; it changes depending on our projects and our clients’ needs.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in 2004, and our partnership is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Some ambiguities in projects’ specifications caused work to suffer at first. However, after a few visits and some investment into the relationship, they are now a prolific team that delivers high-quality products with consistency and diligence. We haven’t found a software house that matches Indus Net Technologies in quality or productivity.
How did Indus Net Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management style has evolved throughout the relationship, and we constantly look at ways to improve our processes. Indus Net Technologies worked with a positive and proactive attitude throughout this. They oversee their developers with our on-site project delivery officer who leads the daily standups and provides regular reports.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Indus Net Technologies demonstrates a strong work ethic and a high degree of loyalty to our company. Many of our regular team members have worked for us for 8–10 years. They also have in-depth technical expertise that we find highly valuable, especially in their senior team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I would prefer if the junior team challenged the more senior members on occasion, but that’s a problem in any company. We’ve also refined their coding style—which would range from too long and wordy to too short and missing opportunities for global updates—with a more rigid framework over the years.
The company was very satisfied with the website when it first launched in 2013. Since then the traffic to the site has grown steadily. During the project, the team conducted weekly meetings with the company to provide updates on their work.
