Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of an IT professional services firm. We provide several IoT-related services to our customers, mainly in the financial, logistics, and government industries. Our services include software development, project management, business analysis, and system integration. We’re located in Jamaica and have about 10 employees.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ideas Factory US?

We’ve taken steps into the low-code arena. Ideas Factory US has experts in the GeneXus platform, which we’ve been using at our company.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially went through a discovery phase where we explained what we wanted to do. Ideas Factory US worked with us to get the job done. Since they’re experts in GeneXus, they provided a bit of staff augmentation and a bit of coaching as well. Finally, they worked along with our team so we could push out a couple of products.

We worked with a software engineer.

How did you come to work with Ideas Factory US?

A mutual contact put us in touch with them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent less than $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around March 2021. We currently don’t have a project with them, but the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They delivered in terms of their coaching and quality. The software met all our requirements.

How did Ideas Factory US perform from a project management standpoint?

Their performance was good. We used Microsoft Projects and communicated over Teams and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They always had a solution for the problems that we brought to them. Also, the team was super responsive. If we sent them a message because we needed to get something done, they’d get back to us in no time. Although they might not have the answer right away, they were always there for us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The initial contact is usually prompt. However, research and secondary issues may take a little longer, which could be shorter.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Once you have your thought process clear in your mind, you’re good to go. If you come to them with clear ideas and a properly outlined and documented project, you’ll move faster. They have several years of experience in the field, so they’ll help you through that experience.

I'm a product manager overseeing various applications and automated processes that support our many brands.

For what projects/services did your company hire Ideas Factory US?

Our company was short on internal resources and needed someone with expertise to quickly revamp an important API to help with staffing analytics and planning.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have previous experience working with Ideas Factory and we trusted in their ability to assist with this effort.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We had determined 3 main reporting concerns that needed to be addressed to gain user trust and adoption of the platform. We prioritized the 3 issues and worked through each to determine the best solution to the root issues. Two of the issues were resolved with new processes and the other was a non-issue that just needed a technical expert to help with troubleshooting.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

The owner (Gabe) was our main point of contact throughout the project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Success was measured by fewer negative complaints regarding system reliability, and the adoption of newly accessible reporting tools to help with employee management.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication cadence was adjusted to meet our needs.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. They were able to understand our problems quickly, helping us find the right solutions.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Perhaps project managing and tracking tools could be offered to ensure alignment on goals and status. This was not a problem for us this time, but it could be helpful with larger projects.
