The task
BitBay exchange, a core BitBay Group product, is an award-winning cryptocurrency trading platform. With the general public’s interest in crypto and FinTech growing rapidly, BitBay saw an opportunity to develop a new product. A mobile cryptocurrency exchange app – a perfect fit for the crypto market.

The challenge
To satisfy the preexisting client base consisting of

power users, while remaining approachable and beginner-friendly. As there weren’t any similar products to benchmark and improve on, we had to put extra effort into UX research and testing. In cooperation with BitBay and BitBay PRO users, as well as non-traders, we ran several A/B pretests in order to find what works best for both groups.

The extra
Although pretesting resulted in great user experience improvements, one mobile feature became an obstacle to overcome – the keyboard. While both qwerty and numeric keyboards are great at what they were designed for, they aren’t the best fit for trading. To combat this, we headhunted a talented iOS developer who assisted in creating a dedicated in-app keyboard with the following features:

  • Seamless cursor manipulation
  • Calculator-like C and CE functions
  • On-screen keyboard lock

BitBay Pay

The task
BitBay Pay, a BitBay Group product, aims to solve one of the crypto community’s largest issues. Namely: asset liquidity. Keeping in mind that cryptocurrency payment processing was still in infancy, with only one major competitor on the market, BitBay tasked us with creating a complex, all-in-one crypto payment solution.

The challenge
To create a solution for both

online and brick-and-mortar businesses that would surpass the competition in terms of performance, cost-efficiency and UX.

The solution
The final product was split into 3 parts – a payment gateway, a mobile POS terminal app, and a management panel giving our partners access to their funds at all times. Three teams have been formed to work on designated tasks under supervision of the assigned Product Owner. The system turned out to be extremely efficient. So efficient, in fact, that BitBay offers 50% lower fees than any cryptocurrency payment processor and maintains similar level of profitability.

The extra
While the 1.0 version of the platform could be considered a success, acquiring clients such as G2A.COM, THE LIST and numerous small-to-medium businesses, we felt that it could be improved on in a huge way. In 2019, we’ve set out to create BitBay Pay 2.0. The new, revamped POS app offers better, more intuitive UX. The payment gateway now addresses arising market needs, such as STOs, and the new management panel now sports a fresh UI and gives access to store analytics.

The task
LINK4, part of a WIG20-listed PZU Group, was the first Polish insurance company to introduce “direct insurance” – a policy that could be bought over the phone or Internet. Always being one step ahead of the competition, the company made sure to stay on top. With that in mind, LINK4’s product development team approached us to discuss an eCommerce insurance solution.

The

challenge
At the time, Polish eCommerce market was already extensive and diverse, with the yearly transaction volume exceeding PLN 30bn (EUR ~7,2bn). The solution would have to be compatible with not only open source shopping platforms, such as PrestaShop and WooCommerce, but custom-made online stores as well.

The solution
We’ve explored our possibilities and reached out to SalesBee in order to leverage both our combined experience and the reach stemming from SalesBee’s commercial success. As a result, an easy to implement system that benefited the retailers, as well as the customers, has been created. Not only did it allow the customer to insure their order, it would individually rate each retailer and display a Trusted Seller Certificate when a set of conditions were met. As for the open source-powered stores, plugins were created, enabling 5-minute integration.

The extra
A landing page has been created, informing both online retailers and customers how the product works, when the insurance applies and who to contact in case a seller should be deemed untrustworthy.

The task
SalesBee, like many of our clients, got in touch with us to discuss a startup idea – an eCommerce marketing automation tool. At first, that might seem like a run-of-the-mill project, but there was a catch to it.

The challenge
SalesBee would utilize cutting-edge technology to help online retailers reach new customers, analyze shopping data, and use it in an

omnichannel strategy. The system was to not only increase sales, but also personalize the shopping experience for each customer.

The solution
Using Big Data analysis, the system tracks SalesBee-integrated site users’ behavior and device data in order to form a digital footprint. This allows for offer personalization, custom responses, and overall better User Experience. The tool treats each client individually, choosing solutions that would be the most effective – be it remarketing, exit popups or email. If a customer returns, the tool activates cross-selling or up-selling techniques, depending on the user’s data, such as price bracket preference or price sensitivity.

The extra
Instead of simply delivering the product, we’ve included some extra features that make SalesBee stand out:

  • Dynamic Content Creator – for popups, mailing and all sorts of content on the site itself.
  • Plugins & API – for open source eCommerce platforms, such as Presta, Magento, etc.
  • Mobile app – in case a customer would call, the app would show basic data, i.a. cart value.

Camcolt

The task
Camcolt planned to enter a very particular market. A profitable one, that’s for sure, but to say oversaturated with competition would be an understatement. Adult entertainment industry has seen several changes and trends over the years, with brands gaining and losing popularity thanks to great marketing strategies (or lack thereof).

The challenge
To create a premium

streaming service that would stand out among the competition and attract not only the viewers, but, most importantly, high-profile streamers. The service was to be considered luxurious and targeted to big spenders, all the while remaining approachable to new users.

The solution
When it comes to adult industry, proper marketing, UX and UI are key components, but to stand out, something extra would be needed. In Camcolt’s case – gamification. Naming itself was a part of the strategy, as it included both the purpose (Cam) and the unique spin (colt). Instead of the usual tokens, the site used “bullets”. Spending enough of those would unlock certain “achievements” – streamer’s milestones. The site gave off a video game-like feeling, further entertaining the viewers and enticing them to spend more.

The extra
Service availability is key. Most streaming services, be it music or video, know that and deploy not only web and mobile apps, but dedicated clients & gaming console apps, even. That’s why we have devoted additional time to develop iOS and Android apps compatible with SmartTV/Miracast/WiDi TVs.

I’m the CEO of Profolyo and the founder and owner of Folyo - it's a studio based on the system and technology to create realistic 3D animation and 360o on the basis of photos. Our activity is dedicated to the e-commerce industry. It lets see the product in a much broader spectrum. Thanks to this, the shop's customers can make a more informed purchasing decision and avoid possible disappointments.

For what projects/services did your company hire ICEO - Product House?

The task was several stages. I entrusted ICEO with the job of developing a platform that allows users to create 3D and 360o animations based on photos. However, the whole idea of Folyo is more complex. It is a tool both for photographers themselves, to give them more opportunities to present products, and for shop owners, so that they can prepare a presentation from ready-made photos and most importantly - be able to adapt it to their e-commerce platform.

The next step was, therefore, to develop a complete system for building presentations in an online form and placing them on websites in the form of a widget.

What were your goals for this project?

E-commerce as industries is an organism that is constantly evolving. I wanted to equip online stores with a tool that would allow them to fight for reliability and credibility in the presentation of products. These should be core values in this industry. What often prevents the customer from buying is the fear that the product will not match the description or that the pictures are illegible.

Our tool was to change that. The system for creating photos and building presentations had to be intuitive, customized and most importantly - user-friendly. I wanted photos created using Folyo could be shared online, and the solution itself to be adapted to Allegro and eBay standards as well as to popular online store systems such as PrestaShop, Magento or WooCommerce.

SOLUTION

How did you select ICEO - Product House?

ICEO has experience in creating comprehensive products for the e-commerce industry. I also knew that they had a competent team and technology that could meet all project requirements and expectations. The first step was to prepare the Proof of Concept widget, which confirmed my choice.

Describe the project in detail.

Work began with the development of the Proof of Concept of the entire widget showing products in the form of 3D / 360o presentations. It was the stage of combining the concept with technology. The task was to define guidelines as to the format and number of photos needed, as well as the presentation options available.

When all these issues clarified and were clearly defined, ICEO then proceeded to the next stage of the project, i.e. the very development of a complete system for building presentations in the form of online and placing them on websites in the form of a widget (Player). Given the high requirements for the intuitiveness of the interface, an important task was to prepare a complete UI / UX project, both for creating product animations and an application enabling file playback and implementation on the store's website.

In order for all elements to function as a whole, an administrative panel was designed and implemented to manage the entire system. The project uses Phalcon Framework, PHP, Payments API, 360o photography technologies.

The team was composed of a project manager, 2 backend developers, frontend developer and UX designer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After implementation, Folyo was enthusiastically received by both the e-commerce industry, which resulted in many mentions in industry magazines and websites commenting on the most interesting technologies. Most importantly, however, our product is praised and willingly used by our customers. The feedback we collect is extremely and consistently positive. E-commerce owners appreciate the convenience of implementing our widget on their websites.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was smooth and professional. I was getting an update about the most important progress in the project. We also had regular project meetings. There were no missed calls situations, the email contact was also impressively efficient.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

At the preparation level, Proof of Concept proved that they know what we're dealing with. Thinking flexibility, high awareness of available solutions, their pros and cons. They skillfully select tools, have specialists in every field, and they are able to implement their ideas. - this is most impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not anything that I'm aware of. In the case of the project I asked for, they did their job. I don't know how they work in other areas, but based on my experience, I can imagine that they can handle any challenge.

The concept of our DoxyChain platform developed as an MVP by me and my associates required the support of an experienced product house to arrange all internal processes and systematize the functionality of our tool.

The ultimate task was to create a reliable and advanced SaaS platform using Blockchain technology (BaaS). We needed also the support in developing business and revenue models for our platform - the whole product strategy.

What were your goals for this project?

There is a growing need to digitize many processes related to the circulation and acceptance of documents. One of the leading trends in modern technologies is enabling the electronic signing of documents at a distance.

From the beginning, as DoxyChain we were cooperating with lawyers and Warsaw Universities to build a fully legal platform for document management using distributed technology.

Our goal was to design and develop a platform for creating, signing, transferring, and managing documents online. Our distinctive qualities were supposed to be the digital security ensured by consistent technology and the integrity of all the actions taken on the document.

The vision of the product was to enable large corporations to go paperless and digitize documents workflow for customers with a guarantee of a durable medium. So thanks to a dedicated application, a corporation's client can also store documents from insurance companies, energy companies, or banks on their mobile device.

SOLUTION

How did you select ICEO - Product House?

ICEO has an extensive portfolio and has cut its teeth on projects related to security and blockchain technology. That is why we decided to cooperate with ICEO, knowing that they would be up to the task and we would find a common ground.

Describe the project in detail.

To join DoxyChain platform, the user must pass the KYC (know your customer) process to identify the users obtaining relevant and accurate information. It’s a due diligence procedure, so we needed to ensure it’s safety for clients or other legally defined entity to carry it out smoothly.

We needed to create the protocol based on tailored hybrid blockchain which combines features of private and public ledgers. We started with the so-called "Permissioned Blockchain" in which consensus is ensured by the Proof-of-Authority, ie one in which only selected entities, selected nodes can create new blocks. We operate on an open Tendermint project.

Transactions are delegated to the blockchain. We add new blocks, i.e. sets of transactions, to the blockchain. There are several types of transactions. There are personal data, but also powers of attorney. There are personal data, but also powers of attorney, use of a power of attorney or its revocation.

We wanted to provide a flexible and holistic solution in B2B, B2C, C2C models. Four revenue channels have been developed as part of the product strategy:

  • SaaS - subscription for SMEs and individuals - 3 packages to choose;
  • White Label solution for corporations and large firms;
  • BaaS - blockchain as a service - subscription for the ability to store data on our blockchain;
  • B2B - fee for integration with service providers (e.g. telecoms) aiming at storing all the bills, contracts and documents between.

Such an extensive solution and many segments of the target group had to require advanced information architecture and UX solutions, which were designed under the supervision of the project owner on the part of ICEO.

We also had to ensure easy and smooth integration with each business. What was left at the end? Testing, testing and testing to be 100% sure that everything operates perfectly and flawlessly.

What was the team composition?

The team was quite extensive - it was composed of a product owner, a project manager, blockchain specialist, backend developers, frontend developers. Product owner worked very closely with the project manager to coordinate a work of the whole team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We provided many companies with a tool that really enhanced the remote workflow during for remote workflow during COVID-19 pandemics. Feedback from our customers is extremely positive. We managed to meet all design assumptions.

Our infrastructure ensures safety, comfort and responds to the growing need of our civilization - digitization and document management. And the product is still developing.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project was iterative. ICEO knew our vision and all the most important assumptions. Together, we developed a work schedule that allowed for the efficient implementation of individual elements of the entire ecosystem.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

ICEO are professionals with whom building a blockchain-based product is a pleasure. They are happy to share knowledge and propose innovative solutions and an unconventional approach. And it works.

They have a product approach - they understand that everything has to be based on a business strategy. Without a well-thought-out model, technology alone cannot defend itself. Their help in this regard was invaluable.

I’m the CEO of AMLSEC Sp. z o.o. and I was responsible for project management, commissioning the creation and implementation of the entire AMLSEC anti-fraud system.

For what projects/services did your company hire ICEO - Product House, and what were your goals?

I turned to ICEO with the task of creating a comprehensive system ensuring the possibility of monitoring customer transactions, which thus allows financial institutions to be protected against the risk of money laundering and terrorist financing. Currently, financial institutions face one of the biggest challenges in ensuring the security of financial transactions for clients.

The answer to this was to create a system that will be a breakthrough solution on the financial services market, securing the data of registered users and eliminating actions taken by fraudsters by blocking threats such as internal fraud, credit fraud, unauthorized transactions, card fraud, taking over existing bank accounts.

It was also necessary for the system to react very quickly to new types of frauds thanks to active machine learning in near real-time.

The scope of cooperation included creating the concept, designing the system architecture and its subsequent implementation. ICEO, thanks to its experience in the financial industry and high knowledge of KYC systems and machine learning, also supported us at the advisory level at every stage of the process.

SOLUTION

How did you select ICEO - Product House and what were the deciding factors?

Currently, there are few companies on the Polish market that have a full range of competences in the areas of KYC, machine learning and AI to ensure comprehensive creation of a product dedicated to the financial industry. ICEO has the necessary experience and portfolio, which is why we decided to entrust the creation of our product to them.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Given the complexity of the system and the expected advanced functionality, it was necessary to design a flawless and efficient architecture. Only after the solid foundations of the system were created, work began on its individual modules and unique functions.

It was important to choose the right technologies for each part of the system. Here we relied on the experience and technological facilities of ICEO. The whole work required a comprehensive product approach.

Subsequent works were focused on the system enabling the matching and linking of transactions in the case of deliberate division of the transaction amount by the customer in order to avoid reporting the so-called subliminal amounts.

AI modules have been created that allow learning the customer's behaviour and transactionality, also analyzing historical data. Thanks to the AI module, the system learns how customers make transactions while maintaining security, a sense of customer anonymity, avoiding false alarms and unnecessary blocking or suspending transactions.

An algorithm for analyzing and comparing with standard customer behaviour patterns was also prepared, transaction patterns and customer behaviour scenarios are created. The system is able to detect financial frauds in real-time based on customer profiles and individual transaction history analysis.

The implementation of AI and machine learning also allowed for the creation of the system's decision-making power.

In the event of suspicious situations, the system makes a real-time decision regarding the types of activities carried out, e.g. transaction blocking, suspension of its implementation, reporting suspected money laundering or terrorist financing, request for additional explanations, documents from the client, observation and increased client analysis or other actions programmed by the institution.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Thanks to the rich functionality of our system, it has met with the interest of many financial institutions. It is used as a security tool, but also a very insightful analytical system that provides a lot of useful information. Our clients tell us that the number of frauds is declining thanks to AMLSEC.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

It was a very partnership relationship based on mutual trust. Meetings were held regularly, weekly. I was kept informed about the progress of work on each module. Customer service and high communication skills are the distinguishing features of ICEO.

Trading platforms are developing at a crazy pace. Process and transaction automation is now a necessity. The development of stock market predictions must be supported by AI algorithms because the market changes from minute to minute. This brings with it also many challenges related to ensuring the safety of these operations.

The main task we entrusted with ICEO was to create an automated trading bot that makes independent decisions on the implementation of transactions based on data collected from cryptocurrency exchanges and forex markets. The bot had to be reliable in calculations and predictions and meet the highest security standards, securing investors' funds.

What were your goals for this project?

Our trading bot was supposed to be optimized under the high-level market needs. We care about the security of investors who use our services and the greatest profit possible by using our solutions and technologies.

We want to ensure both of the above. Using advanced AI, the bot had to calculate predictions about changes in the market, which is quite unpredictable and dynamic. The bot was supposed to enforce and execute implemented trading strategies within the framework of selected stock exchanges.

Trading bot needed to work with the variety of selected stock exchanges within the expanded trading framework. Calculations, predictions and strategies used using AI algorithms had to be properly shielded. To collect and store this information, a private blockchain was created based on the Hyperledger Fabric engine, which is intended as a foundation for developing applications or solutions with a modular architecture. It enables performance at scale while preserving privacy.

In this solution using the node.js environment, the structure looks as follows - one node is connected and stands next to the bot, while the others are stored at investors.

Thanks to this, a layer is provided that acts as a permanent information carrier, preventing any manipulation of the bot by external entities. All transactions and certainty regarding billing are secure.

The task entrusted to ICEO consisted of several stages. The first was mandatory to audit the current system architecture and determine which elements are working properly and can stay, which are necessary to change and improve, as well as those that do not fulfil their role and must be removed. The bottlenecks were analyzed and critical points were identified. Insight into the current situation and the state of architecture enabled further design work to be undertaken.

The next element was the preparation of the concept of the target architecture, after which the process of designing a new architecture assuming: high availability (HA), the possibility of horizontal scaling and full data retention. The analytical and research work carried out as part of the audit had to be combined with subsequent conceptual and design work. ICEO has prepared a process plan, how to reach from the level of the current architecture, updating components one by one, to the target stage.

The work needed to be carried out was extensive. The system based on blockchain technology, i.e. a distributed database register, and biometric security requires an efficient architecture. The most important tasks considering system modules and functions necessary for the design and implementation were divided into two stages.

The first focused on: customer group parameters for an individual, group and global studies; client verification algorithms during dynamic sessions; using blockchain technology to monitor and track data verification; analysis and development of the effectiveness of modern algorithms for classification and detection of anomalies in the context of fraud detection; developing a personalization method for predicting learning algorithms; real-time user identity verification models using biometrics and blockchain technology.

The second stage focused on new modules and functions, using and developing the first stage as well: developing a hierarchical context model for which predictive models of learning algorithms will operate, taking into account the criteria: country of origin, jurisdiction, customer segment, types of entities (individual customer or company), industry and others; development of algorithms and transferable models between clients and their users; development of base models; developing solutions responsible for the security of clients data storage. The project was technologically advanced and its functionality consisted of many elements, so it required a comprehensive product approach.

The whole project team consist of 9 people. The project was managed by the product owner, who was also the lead UX designer. I had constant insight into the progress of the project. All possible changes were consulted with me, although I relied on the experience of the ICEO team.

I got more than I expected, they created a mini social network for players. In addition to access to information about leagues, fixtures, rankings, it enabled: keeping own boards with announcements for players. It had an internal communication system in the form of private messages and chat. And because it was the first team competition, it also gave a private chat to team members.

I outsourced part of my own project to ICEO in the past. I specialized in web development and they could take care of custom software that a past client of mine wanted to include on the website. Happy with the results, I didn’t think twice before contacting them again.

They designed, developed and launched a document management system, as well as the commercial website and integration plugins for MS Office.

I explained the problem in an email, to which they responded the next day with a skype call date. Expecting an early-stage, budgeting, etc. meeting, I was pleasantly surprised with them having already prepared some ideas and solutions to discuss.

After deciding on a couple, they immediately got to work and the first frameworks and UI propositions were presented after no more than 1,5 week. We held meetings and team calls to discuss the development, updates and mockups were sent via email.

A seemingly ready, tested product sometimes had to be optimized from the UX standpoint, which took up to 2 months in total. The reason for that additional development time being ICEO’s goal of reaching a 60% efficiency increase over traditional computer input methods.

I was positively surprised that they were able to pull through within the deadline, even though the goal was their own. After reaching that threshold and with everything set up, the vendor registered an independent company and launched the product.
