DC Fintech Week - Annual Conference at Georgetown Law Center
The 4th annual DC Fintech Week is a leading 4 day conference that covers all things fintech. Held at the Georgetown Law Center, it brings together an impressive array of thought leaders from across the globe. We've worked with them since the beginning, helping to promote the event with web design. The goal of their event website is to grow attendance and sponsorship inquiries.
For this year's event (2020), we replaced their static slider/still images with a video that we edited to provide the website with a little "pop". The objective is to grab attention with video and sound (yes, sound). Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Check out their event website at: https://dcfintechweek.org/

Hoigaard's - Minneapolis
If you're from Minneapolis you're most likely familiar with the Hoigaard's brand. A staple in the Minneapolis community for over a century, the Hoigaard's name is synonymous with quality and service.
This was a bit unique, as their current website was mostly adequate. There's always room for improvement, but their website wasn't far off. Definitely one of the better websites that we've replaced. The bigger issue, was that their experience with their existing website company fell well short of their standards. Simple change requests went unanswered or took much longer than expected, and they were on a proprietary platform, and couldn't move their website. Because of this they were looking for a better, more reliable option.
In the services industry, it's important to 1. Grab attention quickly 2. Provide a clear call to action, and 3. Make it as easy as possible for website visitors to contact you. In knowing that, it was supremely important to make their new website "pop". Adding movement, strong visuals and strong content was key.
The previous Hoigaard's website was built on a proprietary platform, that offered limited customization options, and zero mobility. They were at the mercy of their website company. Also, they were looking to tie into and present manufacturer information on their new website, so thought needed to put into how best to integrate this information.
The first thing we ask website clients is "what's the goal of your new website?" Theirs was more appointment requests, so it was important to make this a focal point. Another thing that was missing from the Hoigaard's website was strong messaging that clearly articulated their value proposition. In other words, the "why Hoigaard's" messaging was missing.
This project took two weeks to complete. At the end of the day, they now have a website that answers all of their main concerns, and are proud to show off to their potential customers.

Custom web development
Spencer LLC is North America’s fastest growing builder of custom cabinetry. Located near Seattle, Washington, they specialize in heirloom quality cabinetry coupled with the most attentive, quality service experience in their industry. Family-owned, together they’ve created a well oiled machine. However, there is (was) one exception. Their website. This thing was MASSIVE (100+ pages), and built with HTML, not mobile friendly, confusing to navigate, and just plain looked dated. Newer technology and current design had left their website in the dust. We had a blast with this one.
One of our greatest challenges was getting a grasp on the sheer volume of content and pages, and coming up with a plan to repackage it in a way that made sense. Aside from beautiful visuals, we wanted to provide an easy path for website visitors to request pricing, or contact Spencer with questions. They build beautiful cabinetry, so the new website definitely needed to be equally crisp, clean, and stunning.
Again, there was no shortage of content to work with. The missing piece was providing content that evoked emotion, and turned website visits into quote requests. Spencer is truly unique in the cabinet building world, and they wanted to include a unique page "Book of Secrets", that communicated their winning formula. We're all for unique, and guess what one of their most visited pages is? Yep, the "Book of Secrets" page.
As a service business, several key elements can make the difference between a phone call, or an abandoned visit. We definitely wanted to make sure we had the basics covered, like a prominent, clickable phone number, contact forms, calls to action, and pages that were fine tuned to deliver a quality mobile experience.
This website involved pen, paper, whiteboards, wireframes, and most of the tools in Adobe's Creative Suite. This was BEFORE we began actually building their new website. At the end of the day, they've got a website they've dubbed the best in their industry.

Georgetown University (IIEL) - Web design
This is really two separate projects. Project 1: The Institute of International Economic Law at Georgetown University is the focal point for the study of international economic law at Georgetown Law. It is also one of the leading centers for international economic law and policy in the world.
They decided that their website wasn't effectively communicating their strengths as an organization, and was being left behind both in design, and in functionality.
Project 2: In addition to their primary university website, IIEL also organizes and hosts a growing annual multi-day event entitled "DC Fintech Week" that is centered around all things fintech. Logistically, it made sense to create a separate event website as well.
Thought leaders, politicians, business leaders and students converge to make the IIEL a hub for education and sharing ideas. From round tables, to annual conferences, it was important for them to incorporate many of these familiar faces into their website.
For the Fintech Week website, again, the "whos who" of fintech, finance, business and politics are involved, and it was supremely important to be able to illustrate the magnitude of this event with pictures of those involved.
Additionally, their previous website was on its own island, disconnected from the rest of the campus. By providing links to important campus resources, the goal was to transform the IIEL website into a valuable resource for students and faculty alike.
On the event website, it was important to be able to clearly display the agenda, and make it easy to sign up for the event.
Another concern was website performance and uptime. Traffic spikes leading up to events, or after an email marketing blast often crashed their website. Finding proper web hosting that would deliver both speed and reliability was very important.
The result is their primary website now has improved and increased student and staff traffic. Their event site is rebuilt annually.

Manufacturing website design - FTC Industries
FTC Industries is a precision CNC machine shop, specializing in high-volume machining. In the Dallas, Fort Worth area of Texas, FTC Industries is known for their quality, efficiency and high volume production capabilities. Unfortunately, their website wasn't getting it done. Owner Rick is a master when it comes to building production and manufacturing facilities. However, when it came to the website, all he knew was nothing was happening. It was producing zero leads for their company, and they have serious growth goals to meet. Time for a change. This required a combination of website design and SEO services.
Previous iterations of the FTC Industries website were nothing more than online brochures. It was somewhere to send people, but wasn't designed to attract or convert customers. They also didn't effectively communicate FTC's expansive capabilities, so the new site definitely needed to do that.
As with many manufacturing businesses we've worked with, their websites often sell their companies short. A lack of visual "pop", dry content, and zero engagement with the audience.
"Is your website producing leads for your company?" This is a question we ask early on in the process. If the answer is no, then the next question is "would you like it to?" Owner Rick answered "no it hasn't" and "YES we want it to!" Knowing this, we needed to include proper on-page SEO for the website, and come up with a game plan to get their new website more visibility in the search engines.
We completed this project inside of two weeks. With proper dialogue, there's no reason for website projects to string on for months and months. More importantly, they were ecstatic to see inbound lead activity much sooner than anticipated, and the website has received floods of compliments.

What challenge were you trying to address with HyperX Design?
We relied on them for web design and marketing materials.

I worked primarily with Scott (Founder). He might’ve had other teammates behind him, but he was my primary point of contact.
How did you come to work with HyperX Design?
