There has been a noticeable increase in visits to the contractor's showroom since engaging with HigherVisibility. Although there were some accessibility problems with a few of their assigned account managers, the current manager provides exceptional customer service and effective contributions.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your organization.

Our company has been in business since 1980, specializing in selling kitchen countertops, vanity products, shower doors, and other products of this nature. We have a 2,500 square foot showroom located in Arlington, Virginia. Installation of our products is done through contractors. We average a number of 10-15 projects per month. Our success rate is pretty high due to our service-oriented and problem-solving approach.

The crew we use is a Polish team which is licensed and insured, and they do fabulous work. Our vendors offer a very good quality of products. The only holdup of our company is that we do not sell appliances or plumbing products, like faucets. We refer this part to our vendors, which pass any discounts our company gets along to our clients. We are in the process of switching ownership of the company to my son.

I am the president of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What business challenge were you trying to address with HigherVisibility?

We've worked with other SEO firms in the past. A lot of people talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk. We've had a very good relationship with HigherVisibility.

I consider myself to be a dinosaur and have always seen the switch to online commerce as being a hit on the economy. A lot of offices will shut down as a result and people will work more from home. The key to success is always being ahead of the game.

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

HigherVisibility has provided SEO services for us. We don't use pay per click because it has never worked for us. We've had three tries of it in the past.

How did you come to work with HigherVisibility?

I’ve tried a couple different agencies and came to HigherVisibility because they advertise online a lot.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The annual cost of our efforts with HigherVisibility is around $6,000-$7,000.

The advantage of being in business for as long as we have is that we receive a ton of referrals. We don't have to advertise very much as a result. We used to advertise in the Washingtonian, but not anymore. Aside from the costs of working with HigherVisibility, we also rebuild our website every 2-3 years, but we use a different company for this.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with HigherVisibility a year and a half ago. Our relationship is ongoing, with no plans to stop.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We've gotten a lot of people to come to our showroom and become new clients. I can't guarantee that this is 100% HigherVisibility's contribution because we also have a good referral rate but they have produced a noticeable improvement. We used to collaborate with Washingtonian Magazine and have gotten some good reviews there which has helped our reputation.

How did HigherVisibility perform from a project management standpoint?

Their company in general is good, with the exception of some of the people we've worked with after our original account manager moved on. It's common for people to advertise qualifications they simply don't have, and this is likely the case with a few of the ones that worked on my project. I was very happy to have our account manager back, so I'm still using HigherVisibility.

What distinguishes HigherVisibility from other providers?

I love my current account manager, Tim, so I stick with them because of his energy and great vision for my future.

Is there anything HigherVisibility could have improved or done differently?

The only negative aspect that I can mention is that our original account manager got switched to a different project. We ended up working with around three other people which weren't very good. They were hard to get a hold of and almost seemed to be working from home. I talked to the main person in charge and told them what they needed to do in order to keep our account. HigherVisibility eventually gave us our original account manager back.

Came up high on search results, spoke with two other companies and liked Higher Visibility best.

Describe the project in detail.

We started off with meetings, then were put to a bi-weekly call. A different employee handled the relationship for a while and did not keep up well. I took over again this summer. We were not seeing the results that we wanted, and not getting a sufficient return on investment.

What was the team composition?

We were in contact bi-weekly with Lauren Moscoto. She was very kind and friendly, but did not ensure we completely understood the many statistics that were given to us.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our direct search results increased some.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication to begin with was regular and consistent.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have a very nice website and a well laid-out analytics dashboard provided to clients.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Communication should be improved. When a contract is up for renewal, the designated representative from Higher Visibility should at least inform the client of the approaching renewal date, and any other restrictions that may put the client in an unfair situation.
