The apps have been extremely well received by the mutual customers of both companies. The _ GOOZIX _ team works well together with their client, collaborating around implementing design and functionality and keeping all project members fully updated on progress toward milestones.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a co-founder and design director in Malachite Studio, so I work on our UI, design marketing, and strategy planning. We have a five-year background providing this type of services.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with _ GOOZIX _?

We have clients with projects that we cannot solve in-house. One, in particular, hired us to work on developing an app — we provide the strategy and user experience design, but somebody needs to develop it. We use _ GOOZIX _ to solve that part of the challenge alongside us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked on three applications for Android and iOS with them so far. Two have been focused on lifestyle and habits, while the other was for the real estate sector. They help us by providing APIs as well as user experience design and QA.

What is the team composition?

We work with their CEO as well as two developers, a designer, and a project manager from their team.

How did you come to work with _ GOOZIX _?

They actually found us. We initially worked for them, helping them to develop some of their brand strategy and design, and then we realized that we could work together to provide even more value to our shared clients.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent a little over $50,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together about two years ago, in September 2017, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Unfortunately, I can’t share too many specific statistics with you because of non-disclosure agreements with our mutual clients, but I can tell you that we have been really satisfied with the numbers and the key deliverables of the project. After the implementation and release of our solutions, our clients are always very pleased with the quality and reception of the work.

How did _ GOOZIX _ perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Slack to communicate on projects and Skype or Zoom for calls and demos, and I think that works really well for us. I always feel informed about current progress toward our milestones. I’ve been very impressed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are extremely reliable partners. Anyone looking to successfully plan and build a high-quality business solution would be really lucky to work with them. Their whole team is highly professional and has an excellent level of business understanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there is nothing that I think they should particularly improve.

One of the apps which Gooznix worked on remained highly ranked in the Google Play and App Store for an entire month. Effective project management and a responsive approach have facilitated problem-free development, while coding and deliverables continue to meet similar quality standards.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a tech consultancy group. We create applications for end solutions, amongst other services.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Goozix?

We needed help with app development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve used them for a number of iOS and Android projects, including social media, business, and communications apps for corporate purposes. We’ve used Unity to build gaming applications and have also used native coding. We’ve built applications for several prominent media outlets as well.

Depending on the project, we’ll sometimes have in-person meetings to sketch out details, but we often do this online. We also sometimes provide a complete project briefing to explain exactly what we want.

What is the team composition?

Their CEO is my main contact. My team members interact with their designers, project management, QA, and developers when necessary.

How did you come to work with Goozix?

I’d worked with Goozix’s CEO on an interactive conference Android app in the past.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $400,000–$500,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in 2014 and the relationship is ongoing. We continue to use them as a firm because they build great solutions for us.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The engagement has been successful in terms of both our working relationship and the projects we’ve completed. Last June, we remained as one of the top 10 most demanded apps in the Google Play and App Store for about a month. We didn’t receive the investment we needed to continue and have since retired that particular app.

How did Goozix perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re great and we haven’t had any problems. They’re also quick to respond. We’ve used various communications methods like Skype and BlueJeans, along with other management tools. We use Trello, GitHub, and Jira as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They deliver good quality apps and code. The code reviews we’ve performed have shown all their work to be high quality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re able to address issues with them and they will listen to us.

The client submitted this review online.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the founder of Bugbean, we think of and make apps and websites. We originally had an in-house team but decided to outsource development and use Goozix for those needs.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Goozix?

We tried using another company in Australia for development first, but the expense and work rate was terrible, so we tried Goozix. We initially hired them for a single, app development project: AntiSocial. Given the quality of their work, we expanded the engagement to develop additional projects. They've also helped us develop Loom (a travel app for Android and iOS) and GiftWell (a giving app for Android and iOS).

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to develop software that would permit parents to remotely control their child's phone or tablet, block applications, monitor usage, and track location.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We did an extensive online search before choosing Goozix for a small amount of test work. Outsourcing was a big decision, especially when it came to choosing an overseas partner to assist us. They were fast, efficient, and spot-on in the test, so we decided to work on an entire project with them.

Describe the project in detail.

It involved developing an app that would monitor anything that was done on the phone, including what app was opened, the time spent on each app, what time the phone was unlocked and how much time apps remained opened. There had to also be a mechanism to report this information to a central server securely.

The app needed to be able to 'pair' with other installations of the app on a different device. Simultaneously we needed the paired devices to have the ability to pull this information from the server, reporting this within the app and allowing for push commands. The app would send the push commands back to the server to limit apps or block apps on the paired controlled device.

What was the team composition?

We had a single main point of contact and two leads, one frontend and one backend developer. We did not require any other resources.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We launched a test version of the app and within 8 months, which has been downloaded over 75,000 times. We recently moved to a full version and have had great results so far. The team was and continues to be amazing.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow has been seamless. Even with timezone differences, we use Slack and Trello to communicate and make sure everyone was fully informed. We have regular video chats whenever required and the team is always available to help us. It is like having a team here in the office with us.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their problem-solving ability and value-added. We wanted to build very complex software that required a clever solution that other companies we unable to provide. Not only did they solve the problem quickly, the solution was elegant and efficient.

The other great benefit is that they act as our partners in each build, they're not just building something and handing it over. They constantly help with improvement ideas and add value to the process, unlike any other company we have dealt with.
