Their team then launched the campaign after our review and have given us regular data and trends to be able to adjust the campaign as it moved forward.

We engaged Global Rev Gen to help us engage social media influencers to promote our brand in a number of our key markets. Our goal was to raise awareness of CQU and ultimately generate leads from these markets.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We had worked with GRG many years ago and knew they had the international experience we needed, however, the social influencers industry was quite new to us and we really relied on the agency to provide guidance, share their know-how and experience in this space whilst also doing their best to accommodate our circumstances. GRG did that.

We went out to tender with a brief, and GRG returned a detailed proposal that met our requirements. They proactively set up a meeting with our team to run through their proposal and considered our feedback for changes. Once both parties were happy, they progressed with recruiting/locking in preferred influencers.
They were efficient with setting up common drives/folders to share documents, setting up UTM tracking so we can see performance on Google Analaytics, and also created a new account for CQU to access performance reports on Looker Studio.

We mainly worked with their Account Executive and Director of Account Growth.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Overall, the influencers campaign was a success in terms of website traffic and the onsite engagement (for instance, better than the average time spent onsite, and very low bounce rate).
Work needs to be done from our end to ensure we can fully track the user journey from that first touchpoint further into our conversions funnel (submit an enquiry form, apply for a course etc.). But in terms of the campaign objective itself, GRG did help us create awareness and from the data we have available, there is indication that new leads were generated from the campaign.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
There was constant email correspondence between our teams (emails were our preferred method). Our queries were always answered, and if they were not able to answer straight away, they would consult their wider team and come back. As the campaign lead, I felt communication with Global RevGen was very easy and transparent.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I was pleasantly impressed that they took the initiative to create a new account (login) for me from their end to access Looker Studio to look at the performance data at my convenience. They also prepared a user guideline too in case I had trouble navigating through the platform. I expected a progress report and end of campaign report as per our agreement, but providing me with this 24/7 access to the report was a nice touch.

For the University, the biggest challenge was the "Set and Forget" mentality of the big media house that had our institutional media-buying contracts. The media house that did our domestic brand campaigns had a limited understanding of the in-country channels for our key markets.
With such small budgets in universities, my main goal was to get a bigger ROI by leveraging Global Rev Gen's international experience and their significant experience in marketing international higher education. I also wanted to access the specific in-country digital channels that are locally important to our audience.

I knew from previous domestic and international campaign work GRG had done for me at a private college that they were invested in getting good results and were proactive in making digital media strategy recommendations. As there were a lack of equally experienced providers, the university I worked for invited GRG to participate in a one-year trial to test, learn and compare results. Following this trial, we continued contracting their services.

Our international digital marketing campaign spanned a range of markets and audiences across Australia, South East Asia, South Asia. The international digital investment would usually be booked in on an annual calendar, according to our marketing plan and in-country seasonality. On a day-to-day basis we worked worked with our Account Director and in the initial phases we worked with the Director Account Growth.

Our results were generally positive and our investments effective. Generally we found a correlation between our digital marketing investment and increases in web traffic and leads from the same source market.
We worked with GRG to improve our performance in Vietnam, since it lagged our results in other markets and they introduced us to some new channels and performance subsequently improved.

Following an initial brief outlining our campaign goals, we would receive an investment recommendation from GRG with recommendations around channel choice and mix. This often depended on whether brand awareness or lead generation was our primary goal and our previous campaign performance.

GRG were able to demonstrate a nuanced understanding of audience behaviour in our source markets and the country-by-country variations required in our digital channel mix.
Their deep experience with higher education clients meant that they already understood the extended buying cycle in higher education and could bring us aggregated analytics and performance metrics that directly relevant to our sector.
I was impressed by how they challenged some of our investment strategies and assumptions based on their insights.
When campaigns did not perform at the expected level, they were always proactive with possible strategy tweaks. This made it feel like we really had a partner that was invested in our success/
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I know the implementation of the account management fee sometimes raised some eyebrows. But I think this is probably a more transparent way to operate than commission and in most cases the set up, the strategy, and the insights helped us save money in the long term. So I think it needs to be considered as an investment in excellent intel and excellent execution.

GRG’s has run digital media campaigns for several years with our business, so the history with the company and ability to optimise year on year to achieve better results were the key deciding factors.
