UX Web Design for Motus Leading Stars
Motus Truck & Van was born out of the merger of two established and successful businesses. In 2018, S & B Commercials, a Mercedes-Benz dealer working under the Motus Group joined forces with Orwell Truck & Van intending to provide high-quality Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles to customers across Hertfordshire, Essex and East Anglia.
Having gone through a brand realignment, Motus Truck & Van commissioned GLO to develop a microsite that would act as their Employee Hub, where the core corporate values would be displayed. The goal behind the microsite was to set a standard, and lead their actions and behaviours, both internally and externally, to drive engagement and business growth. We worked in collaboration with Think to deliver a responsive microsite for Motus.
THEIR OBJECTIVES WERE TO:
- Produce a microsite to reinforce the core corporate values and set a standard for employee behaviours while keeping them engaged
- Introduce the Leading Stars scheme where employees get to nominate their colleagues for living out the corporate values in their work

Introduce your business and what you do there.
We are a construction company and we build homes as well as do home extensions, renovations, and loft conversions for our clients. I'm one of the directors and owners and my day-to-day involves overseeing sales, marketing, and finance.
What challenge were you trying to address with GLO - Generate Leads Online?
We had an existing website which I built myself. It was performing okay but we decided that we needed to improve on it since our company is growing. We also wanted to enhance both our customer experience and online presence, so we approached GLO to do that for us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We initiated the project by providing GLO with some imagery and a brief of what we were looking for in terms of the website’s design. They took a copy of our existing website and built off of that.
GLO began with a rebrand for our company. They came up with a new logo, color palette, and other creative assets. The team then moved into developing and designing a fully optimized website from scratch and running Google Analytics for it.
What is the team composition?
I worked with three people from GLO. I met with John (Owner) to get the project started and got in touch with Beth (Digital Marketing Executive) for the copywriting. Kat (Project Manager) was involved as well.
How did you come to work with GLO - Generate Leads Online?
They were recommended to me by multiple people on Facebook when we were just about to develop our first website. We didn’t work with them then, though. A couple of years went by before we decided it was time to get serious about improving our website. That’s when I approached them.
How much have you invested with them?
I spent around £6,000 (approximately $8,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The engagement started in June 2021. The website was launched last September 2021 but John still keeps in touch to check on how the website is performing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Through Google Analytics, we've noticed an increase in website traffic. The number of leads coming in through the phone and the website has also increased. There has also been good feedback from our clients and suppliers about how well the website was done. Everybody who’s seen it has commented on how much of an improvement it is over the previous one.
How did GLO - Generate Leads Online perform from a project management standpoint?
GLO kept me up-to-date on what was happening via WhatsApp, phone, and email. They took the project and got it done to a good standard with minimal input from me, which is what I was really looking for.
Anytime I did come to the team with an idea, it was always met with enthusiasm. Even if they didn’t think it was the way to go, they never dismissed it. The team instead refined those ideas through their expertise.
What did you find most impressive about them?
GLO made our company feel like we were a priority at all times. I’ve worked with other companies that showed a level of care only at the initial, sales pitch stages, but I felt that John was engaged through and through. He managed to create a really great culture in GLO where everybody who works for him cares for the project just as much as he does.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there’s nothing they could’ve done better. They went above and beyond what we were looking for.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Give the team as many ideas as you can. Put forward anything you want to explore because GLO is great at taking notes and building off of that using their expertise.

In general, the landing page was done really fast and there were no problems. I remember a few months later, there was a WordPress update that created some issues on my page, and they could fix that for me as well. I would definitely recommend working with GLO.

I didn’t find any issues. Communication was clear and prompt. I could reach the team by phone or email, and I always got an answer really quickly. My requests were done as soon as I asked them.

However, the website looks great. For the design, we discussed different layouts and I’m very happy with the final result. It works well. Customers are only 2 or 3 clicks away from what they’re looking for.

I sent a link to a demo site so I could see the work in progress as work continued on the site. We had three to four Zoom calls in that time. The workflow went very well.

They basically rebranded our entire website. We’re concentrating on the location and the reviews, and they change every page to make it stand out in those areas. They’ve changed the colors, and updated our FAQ; it is a real overhaul.
We’re looking to find a way to concentrate on installations, which is our bigger profit margin. To do this, we met up and spoke about PPC. We’re now investing some more money to convert those clicks to paid work. We wanted to make sure there was enough work for our staff to return.

One of their best qualities is communication and they won’t do anything unless they have checked with us first. They’re great at issuing invoices, so when they are paid, I get the paperwork, which is really important to me because I take care of the bookkeeping. I think they have their practices and communication off to a tee which is needed when working with another business.
I can’t fault them really because they explain what they’re going to do before doing it. They break it down and explain where the money goes and show us ideal perceptions. They show us examples of different companies and their spending amounts and reductions.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re just genuine people and that goes a long way in business. Instead of dealing with salespeople or people with an air of arrogance about themselves, I’d rather just sit down and have a coffee and talk it through, which GLO does perfectly. They are a genuine, nice group.

I can’t think of anything, except maybe having better coffee in the office.

If you’re honest with GLO and tell them exactly what you haven’t tried and what you need, they will put a bespoke package together for you. They can show you if you need to slow down traffic in one area or move locations or find different examples to be popular.
Be really specific about what you want, and they will deliver. If you aren’t specific, you might not get what you want.
