I’m the CCO at a digital product design and development agency in Portland, Oregon. We employ 25 or so people as well as a number of contractors. I oversee all the design-related services we provide to our customers.
For what projects/services did your company hire GCX Solutions?
We hired GCX Solutions primarily to help us test our early interaction designs with real users in order to generate meaningful feedback that we could use to refine the UX as part of our design process.
What were your goals for this project?
Our main objective was to create more engagement with our client's ideal customers by providing a more rich and targeted experience for them.
How did you select this vendor?
We've worked with Denis (Founder, GCX Solutions) in the past and have always known him to have meaningful insight and a high level of aptitude when it comes to digital strategy, project process and structure, and client communication. We reached out to see if would be interested in working with us as he would be an ideal fit for the project.
We talked about what we needed and asked him to provide an outline of how he would strategically approach user testing. Denis responded with a proposal that aligned with everything we had asked for and fell within our available budget.
Describe the project in detail.
Our customer's website wasn’t adequately representing their brand—one of being a leader within their industry. Due to the complexity of their sales cycle, they wanted a new experience for potential customers that was more engaging and which ultimately created more personality while also converting a higher number of sales leads. GCX Solutions conducted testing with the initial designs for this purpose.
What was the team composition?
Our internal team was made up of about eight to ten people, including designers, developers, a project manager, and QA testers. They all worked with GCX Solutions’ team.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The results of the user testing that GCX Solutions completed for us were thorough and described a number of possible improvements for the website’s UX. It was exactly what we were looking for.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Denis' communication style was great. When he originally defined his approach and budget, he made sure to set aside time to join meetings and provide guidance on an as-needed basis. We connected over the phone weekly for review meetings and used Slack for daily check-ins. Overall, I was impressed by his structured schedule as well as his flexibility and ability to mesh well with our team and their individual schedules.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
It was clear from the start that Denis has a lot of experience with thinking strategically. His level of knowledge—and more importantly, how he applies and leverages it—is impressive. He asked questions, was collaborative and transparent, and provided meaningful and helpful information throughout our time together.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I'm sure every organization can always find ways to improve when it comes to their day-to-day tasks, but nothing stands out for GCX Solutions. Our experience working with them has been positive. We have no regrets.
