Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm CEO of tourist agency for advertisement of tourist destinations and video production. We are based in Berlin, Germany and Osijek, Croatia.
For what projects/services did your company hire Gauss Development, and what were your goals?
We wanted to improve our business and our customer service by creating a new software solution.
We hired Gauss Development to create a complete software solution concept, design all its elements and manage hardware segments throughout the project. Our goal was to get the best solution for all our requirements in one place
How did you select Gauss Development and what were the deciding factors?
We received a recommendation for the company and compared them with the other 5 possible executors. They were the only ones to offer all the solutions we needed in one place, and in the first interviews they proved to be the most competitive for the execution of this extremely important project for us.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
They have developed a dynamic web into which all our existing data has been implemented. We first started an agreement on the design to improve it and facilitate access to clients, then we gave our goals that the project should achieve.
Gauss gave us an example of a possible concept that we approved given that they also gave more than we asked for. We are currently in the beta testing phase and when we have the final test results they will deliver the final product to us.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Initially 6 people were involved of which 2 were developers, 2 concept designers, 1 project manager and 1 programmer. As the phases progressed, several more developers and developers got involved in the project.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We are extremely pleased with the approach and effort around the entire project and us as a client. Also, more was done than required, which showed innovation.
The deadlines have been met and since we received the beta version earlier than planned, we expect it to be the same with the final version of the product.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We are very satisfied with the project management since the deadlines have been met before and there were no disagreements and delays in the project.
Communication is extremely easy and adapted to us since we are often in the field, we communicated through Zoom, e-mail and WhatsApp group conversations in order to respond to our requests as soon as possible
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The whole team was extremely approachable, we were all interconnected making communication easier. We work as a team and not to solve everything through one member, which speeds up the realization. Extremely meticulous and reliable team
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the owner of the Company Edcom, where we specialized in online solutions for tourism, municipalities and cities, companies and individuals, digital marketing advertising, web portal editorial, and computer services
For what projects/services did your company hire Gauss Development?
We wanted to develop a mobile application for Tourist Board Istria Gourmet&Wine Lovers, which is a unique mobile guide through the eno and gastronomic offer of Istria.
The goals of this project were to make an application that will, in a simple way, bring the customers closer to the top gourmet offer of Istria.
What were your goals for this project?
The main aim was to create tools for the promotion of the destination of Istria and its micro-destinations, but also as a tool for creating packages of special interests that have a finished product at their disposal.
How did you select Gauss Development?
I started working with Gauss from the beginning of the Company, and together we worked on the improvement of the tourist offer of Istria and Dalmatia. As time went on, we worked on many different and interesting projects.
Describe the project in detail.
Basically, everything I imagined to improve and update tourist experience for our coast and country they delivered it, technology-wise, whether it is the redesign, mobile application, web development, hosting transfer, you name it.
What was the team composition?
What I truly admire about their Company and the people who work there, no matter how many projects they have, they somehow manage to dedicate themselves to every project and task that comes their way, so on some projects, I worked with 2 Project Managers, on some only with the designer, and on some only with people from the mobile team. They are all ready to jump in to finish the project, much to my delight.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Application is dedicated to all lovers of eno-gastronomy: from journalists, opinion leaders, specialists in the field of eno-gastronomy to future guests.
Attractive facilities were presented - the best restaurants and taverns in the region, the highest quality winemakers, olive growers, oil mills and wine bars, then truffles, cheesemakers, prosciutto makers, honey producers, the best hotels in the region, and other attractions.
The application is directly connected to the official portal of the Tourist Board of the Istrian County, from which the calendar of events is automatically downloaded so that users can be informed at any time about what is happening in the region.
The application can be viewed in four languages: Croatian, English, German and Italian.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
The Gauss team is open in communication and adapts quickly and easily to the circumstances. They are very flexible and cooperative according to modern agile principles and using agile development methodologies.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The fact that the Gauss team has interests and experience in different areas of business has facilitated communication and development of the idea, but also implementation ultimately.

It is a delight to work with them because they are truly dedicated to the client's vision. I am happy to say I am going to continue to work with them

Mobile App Dev for Global Banking Provider
"They listen to what we say, and they’re humble."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the senior vice president of a next-generation banking platform. I was a board advisor when we started the collaboration with Gauss. After our company was acquired, we continued the collaboration with Gauss.
What challenge were you trying to address with Gauss Development?
There’s been quite a demand for mobile banking over the last few years, so we’ve taken on Gauss as our partner for frontend development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Gauss is developing our banking app natively for Android and iOS, using Android Studio and Swift. We provide the design, and they handle the frontend development.
As a banking provider, we have quite strict rules on information security and QA. We have to comply with ISO 9001, and all our external partners must commit to those guidelines and standards.
Gauss is also providing maintenance services for the parts they develop.
They’re in constant contact with our employees and clients to define specific aspects of the project.
What is the team composition?
We have one team for iOS and one for Android. We’ve worked with 20–25 people from Gauss. We always have a project manager leading the project at a solution scale and two other project managers, one for each technology.
How did you come to work with Gauss Development?
They had positive reviews from our mutual customers. Since we are a software solution provider and integrator, we recognized that mobile development is quite specific, so we chose to have external partners for this project. We had other companies in mind, but Gauss offered the most value for the money.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve spent $100,000–$500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Gauss around February 2016, and the project is ongoing. Gauss is maintaining the apps and adding new features.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve always had a good collaboration with them. They always follow our strict programming rules. We have internal procedures based on ISO standards, and we keep metrics on every solution. We have a testing department, and our clients also test the products.
In general, Gauss is getting better every day. They’re improving procedures based on our feedback. Things were fuzzier initially, but they’ve improved processes at every step, resulting in constant product improvement.
How did Gauss Development perform from a project management standpoint?
The communication has always been excellent, but meeting deadlines hasn’t always been so great. We’ve had some rough deadlines, but that’s normal for software development. The communication is open and straightforward. Even when we had issues with middle and lower management, their top management jumped in to restore the quality of the relationship.
They have a project management system on their side, but since we have strict regulations, so we have them to use our tools. There’s been double-tracking, on their side and ours, but everything was always aligned with our project management.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They listen to what we say, and they’re humble. They’re always open to our suggestions, guidelines, and requests. They don’t follow us blindly, and they always consult us on how a mobile app should work. In terms of communication and project management, they align with our requests and needs. That’s the main reason we’ve had such a long relationship with Gauss.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s always space for improvement, but they always adjusted quickly when we pointed out something. I can’t think of anything that they’d need to improve currently. Just in the last two weeks, we’ve made some improvements for the delivery of the solution, using more automated technologies. Improvement is a part of both our businesses.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
The most important thing is to know what you want. Gauss is strong technologically, and they have quite a good team of developers, but the main focus of someone ordering a solution from them should be to keep the request focused.
The challenges we’ve had were mostly because we didn’t quite understand what we were requesting and didn’t explain things thoroughly. If the project requirements are clear, Gauss will deliver the best solution.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am CEO and the owner of Uciliste Modus, a Croatian educational institution with multiple branches throughout the country that provides educational programs for adults. We cover a wide area of educational programs and provide adults with the possibility of lifelong learning.
For what projects/services did your company hire Gauss Development, and what were your goals?
We got in touch with Gauss to develop for us a custom business platform to cover and digitize our business processes. After the first phase and implementation of the platform, in phase two, they continued to develop an e-learning portal website that is hosted and is fully integrated with said developed platform.
How did you select Gauss Development and what were the deciding factors?
When we started looking for a solution, we researched and talked with our partners, and Gauss was one of the top players that came into the picture. We arranged a meeting.
We were satisfied that it was clear they have the knowledge and portfolio to deliver what we wanted. Additionally, we liked the vibe as they are friendly, open, and straightforward people.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The business platform covered our processes as an educational company concerning employees, clients, documents, and e-learning management.
Additionally, we immediately upgraded to a separate fronted e-learning portal that is part of the platform. The solution was built with Node.js and Angular with MySql database
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Depending on the project phase's needs, there were 2-4 developers and a project manager. In the start, a designer was consulted as well. Developer types (frontend - backend) and the number changed throughout the project phases. Also, there was one designer involved.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Before this project, we were not quite digitalized. We had to use multiple tools to keep up with regular business activities. Digital transformation of our processes and putting most of our activities into one application certainly helped us save time and money and have a more straightforward overview of our daily activities.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Upon our concept inputs, Gauss made additional specifications and suggestions and collaborated with us to ensure that we all agree on how to do the project.
We used their collaboration tools to track the project tasks' progress and upload documents and comment with the project manager and other persons involved in the project. Project management was defined as agile, and we had meetings according to need as communication was continuous.
We had a briefing call every week to see the status of the project and if we needed to adjust or change something during the development. Types of communication were – a collaboration tool, video and audio calls, and few meetings in person.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Persons that we met in Gauss were all open and proactive people focused on delivering what we needed. We always had a strong sense of how our project is developing as their process is very transparent.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We plan to continue to work with Gauss in future upgrades to the existing solution. We are satisfied with how they work, communicate and deliver.

Please describe your company and your position there.
Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET was founded by Republic of Croatia . It was established as an institution for information and information infrastructure in education and science.
One of our implementations of informatization of primary and secondary education systems, through planning, development, organization, implementation and monitoring of key aspects of informatization, in cooperation with the ministry responsible for education and science, I work as a IT Specialist, and lead the project Gauss is working on.
For what projects/services did your company hire Gauss Development, and what were your goals?
The CARNET system is designed for educational and academic institutions, but also for individuals. By implementing the system, useful content is available for distance learning and provides equal access to all users always and everywhere, all with the aim of strengthening the capacity of the school, creating new competencies and foundations for lifelong learning.
How did you select Gauss Development and what were the deciding factors?
Due to real financial and time constraints, teachers going to other places for education is often not feasible or causes interruptions in regular classes. With the implementation of the platform for the distribution of multimedia content, education is provided at a distance with equal access to all users at work or from their own home at any time of day.
Gauss and CARNET worked together before on Project for which was submitted on public tender and it was only natural to continue development
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
CARNET is a system that combines TV and Youtube and allows users to choose to watch / listen to video and audio content when they want. The solution allows you to view audio and video content on various devices (browsers, smartphones, tablets, Smart TV, Set Top Boxes) according to a pre-arranged schedule or on request.
Users can watch content when it suits them best and in a location of their choice. We use Apple's HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol which is the current standard for on-demand content playback.
Users can watch video content on multiple channels, watch missed episodes, or revisit content after watching.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Developers and Managers from Gauss d.o.o. participated in the creation of content intended for online and offline channels, multimedia content and visual presentation at the final launch of the project. Until now on the Project worked 3 Project Managers and 5 developers.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
CARNET is available to users as a source of knowledge, information and educational content. Use of this platform is completely free and available from all over the world. The system was developed with the aim of accessibility to users, it has a minimalist design and simple, intuitive icons.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
We communicated trough mail and online platform, as well as live meetings when necessary. It wasn't a problem for them to travel to Zagreb when needed to.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I like how they accept feedback & constructive criticism. It is so easy to approach them with our requests and comments, which they never take personally.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Gauss has a reputation as a customer-friendly establishment, but customer management is one area of improvement for employees that you can never spend too much time on.

Please describe your company and your position there.
CEO in company which counts 18-20 employees in three different departments.
For what projects/services did your company hire Gauss Development, and what were your goals?
Since we are having three departments (IT support, web development and marketing) we wanted a custom solution which fits them all. Differences in making tasks/projects/budgets made hard to track all activities so we were looking for premade solution.
After consulting with Gauss Development we found out that our case no "out of the box" solution will cover. We decided to go with custom solution and it was a great approach. Gauss was hired to design, develop and implement our new project management - planing (mini ERP) system.
How did you select Gauss Development and what were the deciding factors?
Their approach in terms of business analysis and scanning of our needs together with reasonable price were deciding points.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
After kick off meeting there were couple of calls/meetings about design and solution concept/structure. After their first preview we were sure that we found a good mutual understanding and that final product will be a good fit. Functionality development was lead with contact persons from each department so no noise in communication occurred.
First beta was prepared on time and made clear that all gathered info was solvable. Each department leader took a test and gave a feedback on with Gauss responded actively. On the other side some issues or details which we couldn't predict were solved proactively on their side. PHP in combination with JavaScript as client side technology was used in cloud hosting solution.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Four people. CEO, project manager, development lead, test lead,
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
After first good impression we started to use software. After first month we realized that all departments gained additional time invested in client communication.
Just that approved this project since now we can say that almost 10-15% of less time is consumed in time/project tracking activities. Clients are also aware of that which gives us additional value on whole story.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Every meeting, call and appointment was in relaxed atmosphere. However, results were on place and time. Online meetings were held via Teams and Zoom platforms. Timelines were clear, understandable and easy traceable. Open communication with all vendor employees made us feel safe and aware that good pick was made with their choose.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I'm impressed with the relaxed atmosphere, their hard work, and their ability to deliver results. We find them as family now and definitely there will be additional mutual projects in future.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We can also find some details which could be solved differently. However, none of them would influence in our ERP stability and scalability which were two main points. All other details will be under continues development which we agreed after first implementation and testing.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am the CTO of a custom development and consulting company focused on delivering innovative consumer experiences to the top retailers in the US and Canada
For what projects/services did your company hire Gauss Development, and what were your goals?
We have contracted Gauss to provide know-how and SW development services for a project involving a complex network of interweaved e-commerce solutions, mainly for US and Canada markets. We needed a company who not only understood Magento, but how to deal with a heavy amount of customization.
How did you select Gauss Development and what were the deciding factors?
I have found an open approach from Gauss CEO ( and later other Gauss employees ) assuring, as they clearly understood what needs to be done. The technology was Magento with heavy customization and integrations with external service providers.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
I cannot go into details due to contractual obligations with our end user client. I can say it concerned the development and management of a network of interconnected e-commerce solutions for some of the top market US and Canada leaders.
The solution was developed through multiple simultaneous projects. The companies that used our client services and solutions were, among others, in fields from retail food services, event ticketing, large retail store chains, all were nationally recognized brands with very large scale usage.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
During the project, we have changed the number of persons involved according to the project needs. Sometimes we would boost frontend, on other times, backend developers or QA or management personnel. It was mostly 3-4 backend/frontend developers, always a project manager and QA team from 1-3 persons.
At times system architect from Gauss also collaborated and proposed optimizations with the client's counterpart.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The deliverables were on time. In unexpected situations and changes to the market environment Gauss team always, without exception, made additional steps to get the job done no matter the time zone difference. This “extra effort“ was very well recognized and received by our end user client.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Gauss effortlessly followed our client's agile/scrum management with active participation from their project manager with the project and other managers from our client.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
A mixture of technical and business expertise from the team and proactive participation in client's business activities is something that I would really point out. A friendly approach with high professional standards results in the client accepting the Gauss team as their own.
Also, the Gauss team had no problem introducing and tutoring other external development teams to the projects when needed.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Our client, in few cases, wanted Gauss to switch to US work times. However, Gauss managed to organize the communication and delivery so that the client recognized it was not necessary. I wouldn't point this as something that needs improvement as Gauss did the job without any interference to the process.

Please describe your company and your position there.
BROCANDO was born out of the desire for improvement and simplification. In 2017, no one should have to wait days for contract documents to deal with paperwork. On BROCANDO you can compare health insurances (initially the basic insurance, in the future also supplementary insurances) and change within 5 minutes with a few clicks of the mouse or in the app - online, without telephone advice and completely paperless.
This is new in Switzerland! The personal conversation and telephone advice for all other insurances will of course still be offered, but they are finally no longer necessary for a change to the basic insurance.
For what projects/services did your company hire Gauss Development, and what were your goals?
We have contracted the Gauss team to develop a solution that will enable the digitalization of the insurance policy sales process. We used some of the existing tools available on the market, but none were created with Swiss insurance sales in mind and took a lot of customization effort but did not deliver as expected.
How did you select Gauss Development and what were the deciding factors?
We have heard of Gauss from some of our business partners and decided to contact them. I was expecting another development company but was pleasantly surprised that Gauss has a significant number of business experts in their team.
Some of them had quite a bit of experience in the insurance field. It was very easy for me to communicate with them without explaining everything in detail as they were already familiar with the process. They had few questions for me as well and immediately gave an optimization proposal at the first meeting. In the end, this saved me much time during the project.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
The solution completely covers and digitalizes the insurance sales process – employee management, document management, lead and sales opportunity management, post-sales process, advanced commissioning system, KPIs, teams and target tracking, reporting, dashboards, and analytics.
Additionally, it can be integrated with existing or can host web sites as well that can hook to the system. Some of the technologies used are Node.js, Angular, MySql, Elastic, Redis.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The team consisted of a designer, a project manager, and two full stack developers.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We have found that the solution resulted in time savings concering digitalisation of the process and having everything needed in one application. Our controling has also significantly increased which allowed us to pin point bottle necks and optimise our process in the whole. Team terrain coordination and tracking has also significantly increased. Overall we have gotten added value with this project.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Gauss used agile methodology with user stories. Collaboration and project management was done through Gauss own system where we tracked and documented task as well noted comments that we had for each part of the project. We had few physical meetings and mutliple online short coordination calls.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
As said before, Gauss backed us up with both business knowledge and not only software development. What Brocando got delivered from Gauss was not only software solution but process optimisation as well.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
I am completely satisfied with how the project was managed start from finish, I wouldn't change anything at all. They are friendly, open and expert people. I am certain that for our future projects Gauss will be the first one on the list.
