Prujekt - Mobile App & Web Development
The client needed an application for both major platforms, Android and iOS. Our efficient developers developed the app for iOS using the Xcode tool and Swift language. The Android app was developed using the Android Studio tool and the programming language Java. Php Codeigniter was the platform used to create the website for the client.
The client wanted Flynaut to build a digitally empowered platform where the job recruiters and the candidates could interact virtually with the help of questions and answers recorded in the form of small videos for better understanding. Creating a platform that would also allow job seekers to apply to domain-based jobs was the project's core objective. Despite the client’s busy schedule, Flynaut could absorb and understand the client’s requirements in no time. We delivered exactly what was expected with the thorough research done and aligning it with the client’s needs.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of a technology startup. We have a communication app that puts users in chatrooms with people nearby so they can make friends.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
I needed someone to develop my app.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Flynaut LLC built a mobile app for us. First, we drafted a master service agreement that detailed the project timeline and the features I wanted them to deliver.
We divided the project into several stages, starting with the design process. They delivered a design, and I approved it. Then, the Flynaut LLC team began building out specific features. They developed it for iOS using Swift and Android using Java. The app was connected to AWS servers and Google Maps API.
Finally, we arrived at the testing phase. We had several users beta test the app to look for bugs, which Flynaut LLC would fix accordingly.
The app’s core features were the ability to have group chats with nearby users and send private messages. Users could send images as well. Additionally, they could toggle the interface to be in light or dark mode.
Aside from the app, Flynaut LLC also created a website for me. They handled the entire process, including writing copy and designing graphics.
What is the team composition?
I primarily worked with Simran (Project Manager). Additionally, I interacted with the lead developer and a designer.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
I researched app development agencies and found several. I ended up hiring Flynaut LLC because their designs were crisp and clean. Additionally, they had experience building location-based applications.
How much have you invested with them?
I spent around $18,000–$25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from November 2019–November 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I haven’t shared the app with many people yet. However, the users who tried it already liked the way the app worked and looked. The frontend, in particular, was very functional.
Additionally, I was satisfied with the website.
How did Flynaut LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
They did an excellent job. Flynaut LLC was very communicative throughout the process, so we had regular back and forths through email. We also had occasional Zoom meetings.
We initially set the timeline to take place within 5–6 months, but it ended up taking two years, which wasn’t their fault. I asked them to add features that weren’t in the initial scope, and the project was also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Overall, I didn’t mind the delay. Flynaut LLC did a pretty good job of managing the project and sticking to deadlines as much as possible.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Flynauts LLC was a great team, and I enjoyed working with them. The owner was extremely hospitable and professional. Everyone I worked with was super friendly, so I had a lot of fun during the process.
The documentation I provided wasn’t as detailed as I wanted it to be, so the team went out of their way to help me with the ideation process. The cost was also very reasonable.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could’ve asked more clarifying questions.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Define your requirements very well before the start of the project. Having a well-fleshed-out plan will help Flynaut LLC produce better deliverables.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m an entrepreneur who’s creating an app for Android devices.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
I came up with a concept and design for an app, but I needed someone to build and code it for me.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Flynaut is helping me develop my app idea. I initially thought the engagement was only going to be about coding the app’s functionalities and designs, but I’ve extended their involvement to get the full suite of their services. This includes social media marketing, content writing, and a post-launch marketing strategy.
The app has a notification and payment system within, but they’ve also implemented Google Pay so users can have more options.
What is the team composition?
I’m working with more people than I probably know, but I believe I’ve talked with about 6–7 people from their team.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
I found them through Clutch. I was previously working with another developer, but it didn’t go so well. I chose to work with them because they showed me that they wanted my business — Flynaut put more attention into getting my business and showed me that they really care about their clients. I really like their confident approach and had a good feeling about them.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing partnership started in July 2021. We’re adding more features beyond the initial scope, so the timeline has been extended.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I currently don’t have any metrics or general feedback that I can share, but we’ll have it shortly after the pre-marketing component is complete.
How did Flynaut LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management is good as it runs quite smoothly. The people involved all share the same mentality and culture, and they’re all very professional.
I normally communicate with them through Zoom.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m impressed with their confidence because it tells me that they know what they’re doing. Not only can Flynaut create the functionalities of the app, but they can provide me with a diverse range of services outside of app development.
I’m a tough critic, but the way they handle their clients is amazing and I was impressed.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There isn’t much they could improve on, as I’ve been really happy with their services. Although, it would’ve been better to have a face-to-face meeting in the beginning, just so we can have a better idea of the project and gain more comfort.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would suggest being upfront and ask about the services that they’re offering. I had to find out the full suite of their services along the way, which would’ve been great to know during the time they were still trying to get me as a client.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and CEO of Chiry. We develop mobile apps and connect individuals with proactive health professionals via the office, gym, home, or virtually.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
We needed someone to provide us with mobile app development.
What was the scope of their involvement?
At the beginning of the development project, we built out a features list, wireframes, and design. Their team managed the front- and backend work of the mobile app, as well as the desktop version. They’ve even developed the website and landing pages and hooked them directly with our CRM system.
This app would allow people to book and search for healthcare professionals in their area, through a GPS tracking feature. On the other side of it, the professionals are able to set their own schedule through a Google Calendar integration, as well as their own pricing. The app is compatible with Android and iOS and as far as the software they’re using to develop the app, they’re using AWS.
Apart from that, they’ve also been providing us with app store optimization and within that, they’ve done blogs and social media postings that have since stopped to work on the app’s MVP.
What is the team composition?
We work with a project manager, quality experience representative, head developer, and CEO.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
We had a list of 50 different developers to contact, and ended up going with Flynaut because of their professional and customer-driven approach. They took care of everything from the start, so we assumed that it would reflect in the services they were going to provide for us.
How much have you invested with them?
So far, we’ve invested around $60,000–$80,000 USD.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our ongoing partnership started in October 2020. We have a fixed contract so once the features of the app are built, we’ll move forward with maintenance and updating.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The feedback we’ve been getting from our customers is mostly positive, citing its user-friendliness — which is the most important component we wanted going into the project. The feedback from the providers is also positive, saying it’s very attractive, simple to use, and provides them with a lot of options.
How did Flynaut LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
When it comes to building an app, we tend to have a lot of bugs until it’s complete. We use Monday to manage the project and communicate with them. They’ll address issues once we post them on the software and so far, this process has been really easy.
We try to stay on track with our deadlines in the sense that they’ll complete a lot of what we’re working on. The other aspect of it is some builds might take longer than expected, but they’ll still keep open communications with us. If something needs sorting out quickly, they’ll usually do that on the same day, so they’ve always been flexible and available to our needs.
What did you find most impressive about them?
We’re impressed with their ability to figure out how to apply what we want in the build and implement it successfully. They’re not just focused on developing the best product, they’re also focused on making sure it’s applicable to the business and what the customer wants.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t have a good comparison with other development companies, so I can’t say if they’ve done anything bad or had a negative impact on the project. Flynaut handles the delays quite well and we maintain open communications with them.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would say, come to the table with an in-depth idea of what you want and how you want to operate. When you’re building an app, you don’t necessarily think about the intricacies of the process on a granular level, but that would actually help make the development smoother — if you have an understanding of what you want, you’ll get things done a lot faster.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner and inventor of a product called MyiBrow, which is set to release later this year.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
I’d been working with a prior company for about a year to build my mobile app, but I wasn’t getting any results. That left a lasting impression on me, especially since I’d paid them upfront. So, I did my homework and eventually decided to switch over to Flynaut LLC to build my product.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Flynaut LLC is developing my iOS/Android app from scratch. We had multiple meetings in the beginning to make sure that we were both on the same page. I wrote out my ideas from my head on paper, and they agreed to build it on their end. Now, they’re still working on the product under our NDA.
What is the team composition?
Simran (Project Manager) is my point of contact, and Shadab (Partner & CEO) sometimes joins our calls. He’ll often ask how the project is going just to make sure that everything is good, and I feel like we have a solid personal relationship.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
I searched for app developers on Clutch, browsing through companies with good reputations. After I put in my requirements, several companies reached out to me, including Flynaut LLC.
They kept contacting me and contacting me, so I ended up talking to them. Through our conversations, I slowly began to trust them, which was a big deal considering my poor experience with my previous vendor.
Flynaut LLC gave some great scenarios of how we could work together and were accommodating to the fact that I was a self-funded startup. I’d also called some of their past clients who all said good things about them. Because of that, I moved forward with their team.
How much have you invested with them?
Overall, we’ve spent about $22,500. They’ve allowed me to be on a particular payment structure, which makes me feel very comfortable. I’m happy with the cost of their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
I signed a contract with them around the end of January 2020, and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Although we’re dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak, they’ve still managed to work remotely with us and have gotten my product so far. We’re now on a test flight on The App Store. They do what I need them to do, and I plan on having them manage my app afterward because they’ve really proven themselves.
How did Flynaut LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
We use Zoom calls and regularly check in with each other, so it feels like a personal connection. If I have any concerns, they’re good about responding to me.
That was something I really appreciated in the beginning. We had an early miscommunication that was upsetting to me, and both Simran and Shadab talked me through it. They understood my history with my previous vendor and wanted to make sure that they never made me feel uncomfortable with a decision.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’d have to say that it’s the personal approach. Despite the fact that we’re an American-based company and they’re engineering out of India, we’ve been able to maintain communication through Zoom calls. There are no issues with language barriers, and it almost feels like I could drive up the street to see them.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I expected us to be a little further along at this point, but I think I should take some of the blame for that. They’ll sometimes hand me something to review, and I won’t have time to sit down and tackle it because of other things in my life.
We still have several months to go before my product release. But, as of now, I’m happy with where we are in the project. They’re doing everything that I anticipate them doing.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Do let anyone push you into making a huge decision — do the research to figure out if a company is the right fit for your needs.
I really liked that Flynaut LLC took the time to explain how their process works and introduce me to Shadab. I was wary of the pricing at first since it’s so different from US-based costs, but Shadab helped me understand that their success comes from staying within people’s budgets.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of Indelta International. We provide patient-safety and medical leadership training, online and in-person, on a global scale.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
Our challenge was that we had, what I describe as, the world’s worst website, at least in the Western Hemisphere. We needed to update and modernize it. We’re a resurrected company that was formerly shut down in 2011. Our platform hadn’t been updated since.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Flynaut completely revamped our website. We had a good concept, but the messaging and look was wrong. They took all our basic information and objectives and then designed the entire platform. We worked iteratively until we finished the job.
What is the team composition?
I worked with a number of people including the CEO, project manager, and lead developer.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
I conducted a Google search looking for web developers in my area. This led me to a link of the top 10 companies. I went through and called each vendor one-by-one. My phone call with Flynaut stood out because they were significantly cheaper and more time-efficient than the others. Where companies were saying they’d complete my project in three months, Flynaut said they'd do it in one. This shorter timeframe and lower expense was by far the best choice.
How much have you invested with them?
I invested around $3,800.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project began and finished in February 2020. Flynaut completed everything in a remarkable 10 days.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We haven’t completely launched the website yet because of COVID-19. However, everyone, from our investors to our friends, has given incredible feedback on how much they like the website.
I recommended Flynaut to a startup that had been trying to launch for eight years. The startup thought their project would take 6–8 weeks, and Flynaut completed it in three-and-a-half days, start-to-finish. They’re absolutely brilliant. The CEO just knows what he’s doing and provides incentives to complete projects faster and with high quality. I haven’t seen anybody else do that.
How did Flynaut LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management process is the best I’ve seen in decades. We agreed to all the work and received a project manager. She was available 24 hours a day. Their developers are mainly in India, but Flynaut did a brilliant job of navigating the time difference. Whichever developer is working on the engagement works in the time zone of the client, therefore our developer worked from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern Time Zone.
What did you find most impressive about them?
IT has always been a bane for me. Flynaut completed everything at a significantly faster pace and lower price than I could’ve possibly imagined. They made no mistakes, and if they did it was because I gave them the wrong input. They were absolutely amazing.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there are no areas that need improvement.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be sure to go in as clear as you possibly can in regard to your needs and expectations. Flynaut does a fantastic job of pulling out tangible concepts. Upon initial contact, I simply asked them to modernize our website. From that, they pulled out what they needed to effectively implement my goals. The planning stage would’ve been easier if I had come in with more specific ideas, however, they still worked with me.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of a company called Prujekt, which is an online staffing and recruitment service.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
I attempted to build my product twice. Initially, an old business partner joined me to develop the platforms. Eventually, one thing led to another and I had to stop the partnership. I tried the freelancer route with contractors, which didn’t work out well. I needed a partner to create a quality website and mobile application.
What was the scope of their involvement?
To ensure they understood the project, our team provided Flynaught LLC with a substantial amount of information upfront. My concept is different from competitors, which their team really got. Once they understood the goals, I gave them full reign to build a quality product. Starting from scratch, their team works to develop a website and mobile app for iOS and Android. Their team is developing the app to be cross-platform rather than native. They’ll also help with digital marketing— at least to launch the product.
What is the team composition?
I’ve communicated with four of their team members directly including a project manager. I’ll connect with other teammates who give presentations on project updates and things of that nature. They have different teams, so I haven’t worked with everyone at Flynaut LLC yet.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
I was surfing the net to find a firm with the right fit, cost, and location. I came across Flynaut LLC on Thumbtack where I filled out some information. They replied, starting the conversation. When I first spoke to their team, I noticed that they understood my objective. I’ve been in IT for 20 years, which means I know what to look for. It was clear they were knowledgeable and Flynaut LLC sold me on their services.
How much have you invested with them?
Since their team will support the initial marketing efforts, the investment will be about $29,000 in their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
I contacted them in May 2019, and our work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Honestly, I really like what they’re doing. They provide high-quality work. When we first started, they were able to understand my needs, take the requirements given, and create clear mockups. From day one, they hit a home run. I’ve been so impressed with their work that I just prepaid for certain project milestones. That’s the level of confidence I have in them. If I weren’t comfortable with their work, I would’ve stopped funding the project. We can speak the same technical and functional language, so I have no complaints.
How did Flynaut LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
We use Monday.com to track progress. They provided a project manager who communicates with me. We speak on a bi-weekly and as-needed basis. I chose not to have weekly meetings because I want them to focus on development. Flynaut LLC is on top of their work; I’m satisfied.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The quality of work Flynaut LLC provides is impressive. It’s like night and day from what I received from previous vendors. As well, their understanding of what I’m trying to accomplish is significant. They make good, solid suggestions on how to improve the product. In addition to what is asked of them, their team offers recommendations to improve processes. They offer context to inform their recommendations too.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, so far so good.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be clear and concise with project requirements and business goals. Once given a clear picture, Flynaut LLC will be able to reiterate that vision and add comments to augment the product because they’re experienced folks.

I'm a partner at Intro, a startup in the process of developing a social media app.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut?
We reached out to Flynaut to develop our app from the ground up.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Flynaut designed and developed a social media mobile app for iOS and Android, along with a landing page. They collaborated with our team on the scope of work, including selecting the best technologies to use in building the app.
What is the team composition?
We've worked with at least 10 different people on their team over the course of the project, including a project manager and a team of designers and developers.
How did you come to work with Flynaut?
I found them through an online search and, after reaching out, they flew out to our office to meet with us in person. I was impressed by their communication and some of the ideas they had based on the first couple of meetings with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We've been working with them since around November 2017 and expect the app to launch in September 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We're extremely happy with the quality of the work they've provided thus far, as well as their process. The app is user-friendly, clean, and has a great UI overall. We have high hopes for its success based on what they've provided thus far.
How did Flynaut perform from a project management standpoint?
They're great. Whenever unexpected delays have occurred, they've been very transparent about any changes to the timeline. They're very communicative and responsive to our needs.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their customer service sets them apart. In addition to the quality of their work, their team is very personable and has made themselves available outside of business hours without hesitation.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be very clear about the project vision and goals. Other than that, I'd just recommend working with them because we've had such a great experience.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of an upcoming business called Judah's Link and we’re located in Gastonia, North Carolina. It’s a social media website for the Christian community, targeting Christian artists. It allows churches and other organizations within the Christian community to post ads if looking for Christian artists—musicians, dancers, singers, and so on—and the site has Christian artists that can sign up on the site and connect.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut?
I needed someone to build the site for our platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
To start, I gave Flynaut examples of sites that I liked. They presented their own ideas and came up with 3–4 samples of logos and color schemes. Once I made my selection, they narrowed down the design for the site based on my choices.
They built our site and conducted testing on it. We’re currently implementing new features and fixing some functions. Flynaut created the platform with several tools, including profile creation and ad placers. Users can describe their church or organization on the site and post relevant content for their searches.
The site also allows users to reach others by their location in a city or state. There is also a community section, enabling users to communicate amongst themselves and share information. The talent shop that Flynaut built within the platform allows artists to sell or give away items, such as church equipment or instruments. We’ve also just begun the marketing phase and are working on our SEO and social media presence.
What is the team composition?
The project began with one project lead from Flynaut, with several designers and developers working under her. Depending on the various phases, we’ve worked with different individuals and had varying leads. Primarily, I’ve always been in contact with at least 2–3 people.
How did you come to work with Flynaut?
I’d used a website back in 2017 to find developers that could help us since I wasn’t sure how to do it myself. I believe three people reached out to me based on what I posted, but Flynaut was the most enthusiastic about my idea. They went the extra mile. I narrowed my search down to Flynaut and picked them based on their attitude and the things that I saw on their website. I felt that they could build out my vision and they won me over.
How much have you invested with them?
I’ve invested $15,000–$20,000 in their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with Flynaut in January 2018. We’re still making finishing touches to the site.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement
The feedback on the website has been good so far, but we’re still finishing up the work. The responses have always been positive when I pitch the site and there’s a lot of excitement about it. I’m still waiting on feedback for our digital marketing efforts, but so far, we’re confident in how many followers we’ll get. From word of mouth and social media activity, the response is good but I expect it to grow based on their marketing research and work.
Flynaut took my idea and turned it into reality. Though they’d never worked on a project like this, and it was a pretty large scope, they succeeded in doing it.
How did Flynaut perform from a project management standpoint?
A project of this magnitude is going to have some hiccups and miscommunications here and there, especially for people not familiar with the field. However, looking at the bigger scope, they were able to take something I thought up in my head and actually make it work on a screen. They did a perfect job, in that respect.
Most of the communication has been via email, and we’ve used GoToMeeting for video conferences. We would talk at the end of each phase and they would tell me what’s been accomplished and show me how the site is responding through screen sharing.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve always gone above and beyond to make me happy. I’m very nitpicky—especially for such a costly project—but they went out of their way to fix anything for me. For example, there was something I wanted to be changed, and they agreed to get on it right away for no extra money. They always come up with new suggestions. They want my business and it shows that they care about my ideas, which makes them stand out.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Some things got lost in translation. I’ve had to address certain things multiple times in emails and sometimes things would slip through the cracks. I felt they could pay a bit more attention to avoid this from happening.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and for now, the only employee, of an app called Smartphood, a food waste management platform.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
Essentially, I had various ideas about how to reduce food waste and thought a mobile app was the way to go. I needed a team to partner with me in bringing my ideas to reality.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Flynaut LLC serves as a business partner for my company, offering the full package in terms of mobile and web development. They assisted by making key suggestions about the app and provided useful advice. After I solidified all the legal aspects of the app, they helped with the various stages of development, making a native, cross-platform app for both Android and iOS. Their team also created a landing page and a straightforward website to go along with the product.
Now that we’ve launched the product, they’re supplying marketing support. They’ve set the company up on most social media platforms and create posts and content for it. Their team does creative writing and graphic creation, which coincides with the app and website, as well.
What is the team composition?
There have been at least six teammates working on the project from Flynaut LLC. I’m in contact with the project manager, and the rest of the team is comprised of developers and content marketers.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
I used Thumbtack to find a team. After posting basic information in my RFP, 3–4 groups responded. After communications, I chose Flynaut LLC. They showed a genuine interest in the work and we were on the same page about my vision.
How much have you invested with them?
I’m getting close to spending $50,000 on the project, so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in February 2018, and the engagement is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Our feedback and statistics are minimal, as we’ve only recently launched and haven’t conducted extensive user research. However, I’m extremely pleased with the platform and how they took my rough idea and turned it into a functioning app. The design is absolutely perfect. Family and friends are also excited about the platform and its layout.
We’re planning on withholding from intense marketing until we establish the final version of the product. We anticipate needing to change the app over time and adapt it, so we’ll have more metrics on the promotional efforts when those are in full swing.
How did Flynaut LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
Everything has run smoothly between our teams. The only delays that occur are due to me, as it’s my first time in this field, so sometimes the work takes longer than expected. They’ve been mindful of deadlines and managing the workload, too.
What did you find most impressive about them?
From the beginning, they’ve believed in my mission and vision on a grand scale. They understand where I’m coming from, even more than I did at first. Though I have limited development expertise, they’ve worked openly and honestly with me. They explain the financial aspects to me and are patient. Since our first meeting, we’ve connected and it’s led to a great partnership.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t see anything we could’ve done differently.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have open lines of communication. Being upfront, open, and blunt can help convey your vision clearly. Communicate to the maximum level for the best chance of achieving your ideas.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the CEO of Neo and One. We do project management, design, some business analyst work, product ownership, and consulting.
What challenge were you trying to address with Flynaut LLC?
The previous vendor for my project management software project became too expensive. I needed a new developer for to complete the software as a service product.
What was the scope of their involvement?
I wanted them to design additional modules prior to programming, and then develop an API to enable integrations. We already had a prototype at the start of work and agreed on a six-month timeline. To create a seamless transition between vendors, I expected to review requirements first and then establish a QA process for later stages.
What is the team dynamic?
The team included a project coordinator and business analyst that also served the project manager and developer.
How did you come to work with Flynaut LLC?
I met them at their office, where the team gave a great presentation.
How much have you invested in them?
I spent $7,300. I paid 30% upfront and the rest as milestone-based payments.
What is the status of this engagement?
Work started in November 2017 and ended in April 2018.
What problems arose during the engagement?
They only assigned one resource to the project when the scope and documentation requirements called for two people. Consequently, I raised concerns about the project plan, but they responded in a brash manner with a last-minute outline. The plan only had one phase – which didn’t align with the initial scope – and incongruent deadlines. Flynaut’s leadership said they would resolve the inconsistencies, but never did so in a satisfactory manner.
Even though I provided the prototype, their designs didn’t reflect the accompanying files and style sheets. I requested to meet after the team submitted poorly constructed designs. Their managers agreed with my assessment, but their proposed fixes phased out after only two days. Concurrently, the team had most likely turned off the function I assigned for the prototype; it completely stopped working.
How did the relationship with Flynaut LLC evolve?
The senior leadership was welcoming in the beginning, but became less responsive as the problems accumulated. In many cases, they didn’t respond via email, phone, or social media. The quality of service declined after I submitted the initial payment. We were supposed to review the prototype after this payment, which preceded the design phase in the agreed timeline. However, the team started writing requirements before I had the chance to introduce the prototype.
I created a calculation to assess the project using a scale similar to school grades; 60 meant failing and 80 indicated good performance with room for improvement. The team earned a 65 when I inputted their information. We had been in constant contact, but I still didn’t know why they weren’t succeeding – whether it was lack of experience or resources. However, I was certain they weren’t solving the problem.
At this time, the team added third-party resources to the requirements documentation process, but management neither knew who these people were or how to reach them. The team’s actions unclear and most likely violated our non-disclosure agreement. The partnership declined from that point. The two-week documentation process stretched to two months. Despite the ambiguous hires, Flynaut still didn’t have enough resources to complete the documentation.
Additionally, the team never met a delivery date. I finally fired them. After spending $7,300, I had no design, no product, and no usable code.
Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.
They made their server public, which exposed my project to hackers. I emailed them about the issue and requested they make the server, or at least my project, private. The team thanked me for letting them know, but never followed up.
Now, I’m planning to re-engage the previous vendor. My budget constraints are still a hurdle, but some key prototype improvements are feasible. Although this experience impeded an ongoing project’s progress, it helped me grow as a person. My equation’s functionality portended well for future success. Firing Flynaut limited the overall damage.
How was project management handled?
The code became unreliable near the end of work. They said the server caused the code to break. As a result, testing between Friday–Sunday didn’t work. I lost significant time.
We used Jira, but the tool didn’t enhance effectiveness or productivity. The management moved tickets to “done” within the tool without executing any meaningful changes. I only received unnecessary requests to approve modules, not updates about resolutions.
Jira was unnecessary because the scope’s collaborative plan made the tool redundant. Relatedly, the team told me some scope items were actually additional requests that necessitated additional fees. After submitting 101 Jira tickets in a very short period of time, I finally requested that Flynaut remove the development team from my project.
Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?
No. Their behavior suggested indifference to this project and my vision. Now, I feel better that I’m not working with them anymore.
In what specific areas can they improve?
Time management was their greatest weakness. I was supposed to pay one more installment after the product’s completion, but they never moved out of the design phase.
What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?
While other clients may have had better experiences, I felt mine was a worst-case scenario. Think carefully before hiring them. I hired them based on price alone when I should have factored in other considerations. I don’t want this to happen to someone else.
Demonstrating an impeccable eye for design, Flynaut LLC built a functional and attractive app that received positive feedback. Furthermore, they managed the project well and adhered to deadlines. The team was also communicative and personable, allowing them to cultivate an enjoyable partnership.
