Please describe your company and your position there.
I am a Technical Lead in a software development company.
For what projects/services did your company hire Fayrix?
We had a client with some specific requirements. So we were looking for experienced developers in that field to strengthen our team.
How did you select Fayrix and what were the deciding factors?
Our main goal was to shorten project time and the overall cost of the project by systematizing all work processes and activities. We’ve conducted several interviews with Fayrix team members, checked company’s rates so Fayrix fitted the best for us.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We needed to develop a system to track all the activities and work flows of the company. A team of Fayrix developers allowed us to quickly develop and deploy a project management system and establish effective cooperation with our client. We had weekly calls + also kept in touch with Telegram, Jira and Confluence.
They took over back-end development and QA. A team consisted of 6 developers: - 2 NodeJS developers - 1 Java Script (Angular) developer - 1 QA engineer - 1 Tech lead - 1 Full stack(JS, NodeJS, Angular).
Describe the recruitment process in detail.
At first, we started working with freelance guys, but in 2 weeks realized that it’s not an option for us. So, our CTO began looking for high quality resources. Considering that Fayrix had all the experience we needed, we had a test week together and it went really well.
Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?
Our joint work allowed us to speed up the development process by 20%.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Our cooperation is implemented according to the FTE model, so we don’t have any problems with team availability and so on. Fayrix developers always deliver tasks on time and when needed.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The Fayrix team always proposed the optimal solution to the problem and completely took on the implementation of the project from scratch. Our collaboration is productive, and the development process always follows the stated plan.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No, everything is ok ☺

Web & Mobile Platform Dev for Microlearning Business
"Their approach to data science was very good."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director and CEO of a Singapore-based education technology (EdTech) company developing a microlearning marketplace.
It has more question-centric courses, and it tests the assumption that people learn best by doing. The platform has a smart algorithm that tracks learners’ strengths and weaknesses and provides a personalized journey for each person.
What challenge were you trying to address with Fayrix?
Getting data science services in Singapore was really expensive, so we decided to outsource development to Fayrix.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Fayrix developed the entire platform for us, including the web and mobile versions. They did a market analysis and provided a competitive landscape overview, and they also proposed a business model and product features.
They then went into product analysis and created technical specifications, functional requirements, and the architectural design concept.
After that, we did the wireframe and UI/UX design, followed by software development. It included a web portal for content contributors and apps for iOS and Android, as well as a data science module, namely a smart algorithm that tracks learners' strengths and weaknesses.
The Android app was built in Java, the iOS one was done in React and Kotlin, and I believe that the data science module was done in Python.
What is the team composition?
They gave us a team with one project manager, one designer, five developers, one junior data scientist, and one senior PhD data scientist.
How did you come to work with Fayrix?
I looked for software companies in Israel because I know that they’re strong when it comes to data science and algorithms. That’s how I found Fayrix.
How much have you invested with them?
The project cost $90,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with Fayrix between July 2018–December 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’d give them top marks in terms of quality.
How did Fayrix perform from a project management standpoint?
Fayrix is based in Israel, but we mainly dealt with the Russian side of their team. They were good in terms of project management. Their managers had good English skills, and some team members communicated better than others.
They started taking meeting minutes only later on in the project, but they were pretty good at communicating and keeping documentation. They were quick to respond whenever we needed help, and they were always available.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their approach to data science was very good.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They underestimated the scope of the project, but we did ask for a lot of changes, so there’s some fault on our side. They had more of a waterfall approach to our project, and that’s where the scope underestimation took place.
I believe they also work in an agile methodology. Maybe even the best companies in the world would struggle with the waterfall method.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
I advise using an agile approach and ensuring that the project manager speaks a common language with the client.
The team was technically brilliant, but, when it came to finesse in design, we had to spell it out for them. Future clients can trust Fayrix in terms of functionality, but, when it comes to design, they’ll probably have to give more instructions and visualizations.

What were your goals for this project?
We extremely needed email marketing platform adopted to our company needs. During the last 5 years we’ve tried several ready-made platforms but none of them meet our real requirements. We tried to combine 2-3 analogs at the same time but it was almost impossible to compare the stats and collect relevant analytics.
How did you select Fayrix?
One of our clients had used them to build their website. At first, we started the work process with freelance team but our requirements and final product load were growing. Our purpose was to create a completely unique direct email platform that would allow our clients to avoid spam filters and deliver all the relevant information, structure business processes, and set up an effective sales funnel. Fayrix team for our project consisted of 10 members including developers, designers, and the project managers.
All in all, the process was divided in 5 parts:
- Market analysis: overview of existing direct email platforms, their basic features and limitations.
- Product analysis: we shared our internal requirements for the platform, discussed design issues and work process
- Design: creating platform ui/ux design, UI kit. Also, there were a lot of prototypes in Marvel for our internal discussions.
- Development: the team has developed for us the platform and a system of personal accounts along with crm.
- Product launch: was implemented in 2 phases. At the 1st step, we arranged internal testing of the system and transferred the first projects to the platform to collect our client’s feedback. After that, some issues were fixed and we transferred the rest of the projects.
The Platform has reduced the reported average acquisition cost of our clients by 35-75% and increased the retention rate for more than 250 satisfied clients by 90%.
What was the team composition?
A team consisted of 10 members: ui/ux designers, front- and back end developers, analysts, engineers,s and project manager.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We are quite satisfied with the product and deliverables in general. For now, the platform might reach our clients’ ROI of 10:1.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Overall our partnership took 6 months. We worked by FTE model with monthly sprints and weekly online meetings. Communication tools included Slack, Telegram and Google Hangouts, Jira.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
One thing we love about Fayrix is that they don’t just do what we give them, they think really hard about our goals. They always were able to tell if there is a better way to achieve the best performance for our clients.
Are there any areas for improvement?
No, I honestly have no suggestions.

I was most impressed by their timing. They did all the work in the timeframe that they promised, which was great.
Are there any areas they could improve?
For me as a client, the pricing could be a little lower, but I understand that they need to pay enough to their developers. It might be impossible to lower the price.

The apps function as expected, so our employees now have the ability to communicate effectively with each other. Overall, the applications have solved the issues we wanted it to, and Fayrix fixed any issues we had.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Epico Travel is a travel agency in Moscow. I’m the CEO.
What challenge were you trying to address with Fayrix?
We had agents, but we didn’t have enough clients to start a company. We needed help with lead generation.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They provided digital lead generation services for us. They developed a system for people who are interested in trips. That involved collecting and processing open data for one of the popular touristic areas' websites. They extracted the user's location and hotel features information. The source data mainly contained stacks of text, text mining technology, and NeuroNet that were used to classify all the data into VIP or non-VIP travelers. The data was then used for our sales and marketing activities.
What is the team composition?
There were two dedicated managers and some big data specialists.
How did you come to work with Fayrix?
A friend of mine recommended them. I had a personal meeting to discuss my problem and they offered a solution very quickly.

We’re still earning money with the approach they developed. The system helps me get new clients and obtain data in the travel market. We're able to work with VIP travelers and have data on useful information such as location and hotel features information.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Mail.ru Group is the largest IT company in Russia. I'm a product manager there.
What challenge were you trying to address with Fayrix?
We were working on a cloud project for the company.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Fayrix helped us build a data science model for machine recognition. The solution is part of a B2B solution for companies that require computer vision, specifically for locations with too many visitors for employees to track manually. We provided documentation to their team and a pilot integration we had made in the form of a web app.
The app they built is used for analyzing photos made during exhibitions. A user can use a computer or a mobile device to take a picture of their face, based on which our system will identify all photos featuring them.
What is the team composition?
We worked with three data scientists, an architect, a full-stack developer, and a project manager from Fayrix’s team.
How did you come to work with Fayrix?
I saw their LinkedIn profile and visited their website. They had good pricing, so I gave them a test project. They delivered a working result, so I chose them for a collaboration.
How much have you invested with them?
The cost of their work has been around $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them around February 2018. We've also developed another project, which involves video recognition and are prolonging the contract.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The application is currently functional and people are able to obtain photo matches through it. We showcased it at an exhibition in Moscow, where around 1,000 people came to our stands and interacted with our computers. The app successfully sent them the pictures afterward, and we haven’t had any significant bugs or issues. Our developers haven’t said anything bad about the team or the code they produced.
How did Fayrix perform from a project management standpoint?
They're using the agile methodology, with two-week sprints. They typically invite us to their sprint planning sessions over Skype. We're working remotely as it hasn’t been necessary for the project to meet them in person. We’ve been able to integrate their data-science work into the project. The work was done fast and well.
Jira is the corporate project management system in our company, and it was comfortable for me to use it with them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’ve been able to resolve any issue we’ve had, quickly and without the need to modify our contract. They're an open-minded team, which has made it a pleasure to work with them.
