Matix Dental
Not willing to accept the status quo, the founder of Matix is flipping the dental supply commerce industry upside down by providing the first-ever all-in-one online inventory management and ordering solution. Since breaking ground in 2014, the Expedition Co. has played a critical role in defining the product and designing and developing every aspect of the platform’s robust functionality.
The task: Outline, define, and build a market-changing e-commerce site capable of replacing the cumbersome and out-dated 100% manual order process that has plagued the dental supply industry for half a century.
The Expedition Co. built a system that provides greater transparency and far more efficient workflows that can be delegated by dentists while maintaining complete control over the supply researching and ordering process.
20% of a dentist’s monthly re-supply order requires a verified doctor’s license prior to purchase. In the old transaction model, this was handled manually by fax machines and call center workers. The Expedition Co. solved this in Matix by building in advanced permissions capabilities and fully HIPAA-compliant data transfer.

Hyundai
Accessible on mobile, dynamic video content, real-time updates, easy and intuitive search navigation, these are just a few features that have become standard for content delivery platforms, regardless of what content is being provided to the end user. Unfortunately, Hyundai’s proprietary internal content system offered none of these features. This resulted in increasingly frustrated sales personnel who desperately needed continuous, reliable access to their sales tools and product information. Expedition Co. was called upon by Hyundai’s Sales Training division to overhaul this entire internal content platform and build in its place, a modern, sophisticated tool and dashboard portal that its nationwide sales associates could depend on.

Carmine
With a similar business model already proven successful in the Netherlands, Carmine’s Danish parent company, Unigrid, brought its fleet management technology to America. To penetrate this industry’s dense US market, Expedition Co. was hired to overhaul this SaaS platform’s feature set and implement an entirely new, ultra-modern user experience.

Staples Center
When Los Angeles’s most iconic sports entertainment venue needed its native mobile app overhauled and launched back into the market within weeks of project kickoff, they called upon the Expedition Co. to execute. Seven weeks later, we submitted the new Staples Center app to the App Store and Google Play, and it was available for download 24 hours later.
Just weeks before the end of the calendar year, the Anschutz Entertainment Group (Staples Center’s parent company) learned that the backend infrastructure of its native iOS and Android apps wasn’t going to scale well into the new year. It was critical for them to hire a team to restructure this back-end architecture to support the venue’s growing customer base and modernize the front-end UX to meet their increased expectation for clean functionality.
For projects like this, which require an almost impossibly tight turnaround timeline, we employ an “all hands on deck” development approach. We define 100% of the tasks to be completed, then break them up into micro-tickets that can be dispersed, completed, tested, then verified by individual team members before the project’s Dev Lead pushes them live.

Self Made Man
Offering an unprecedented lineup of motivational speakers famous for their successful business ventures, Self Made Man is the place to go find that fire—that spark—to ignite your path to success. The Expedition Co. designed, developed, and regularly maintains this entirely custom-built, premium e-learning platform.
Led by wildly successful serial entrepreneur, Mike Dillard, Self Made Man needed a web and mobile technology product to support its breakthrough into e-learning, an industry which has become known in recent years for its exponential growth and seemingly limitless potential.
Expectations for launch day sign ups were through the roof, due to Mike Dillard’s remarkably influential online presence and proven ability to drive heavy traffic. As with all of the Expedition Co.’s products, Self Made Man was built to be infinitely scalable, thereby allowing for a seamless and stress-free market launch.
Accessible on the go (mobile) or at your desk (desktop), Self Made Man is a fully responsive web application with 100% of its features available and intuitive to use on all devices, regardless of screen size.

Redspace
What do you get when you combine paradigm-shifting car design with a future-proofed electric motor and the limitless resources of a Chinese multinational? The answer — a truly one-of-a-kind, groundbreaking initiative that is guaranteed to make waves in the global automotive and transportation industry. To support the worldwide premiere of Redspace, Expedition Co. designed and built its award-winning marketing site — further amplifying its incredibly successful, omnichannel PR campaign.

Everhem
When buying high-end window treatments, one typically requires the help of an interior designer or contractor in order to reduce the risks involved with purchasing products that are built to spec, difficult to install, expensive, and rarely refundable.
Even though Everhem disrupts the need for the average person to enlist the help of a professional to purchase and install high-end drapery, it doesn’t render these individuals or services obsolete. Everhem also caters to Interior Designers and contractors by allowing them to shop and build product variations on behalf of their customers for an even more seamless and efficient ordering process.Everhem’s custom-built ecommerce website removes these risks altogether by providing customers with a step-by-step product builder that creates products dynamically based on the customer’s details (window type, design style, measurements, etc.). Once the customer receives Everhem’s products, they’ll find handwritten, easy-to-follow installation instructions tailored specifically to their window’s layout, further driving home the fact that anyone can have beautiful, custom-built window treatments, without the need for 3rd-party assistance.
Each individual window treatment product (a single bedroom alone might have four or more) requires its own unique set of measurements and aesthetic selections. Performing these measurements and making these design choices without the help of a professional can be intimidating. Everhem understands this, which is why the online product builder isn’t just intuitive, but also offers safe-guards that prevent customers from submitting product variables that aren’t compatible with their window. Expedition Co. built this DIY tool in a way that anyone, including non-professionals, can gather and input the product specifications correctly.

Beatstoc
Beatstoc is the brainchild of a team that has witnessed a massive shift in the music industry first-hand. Streaming services are affecting Artist earnings. Fans want more engagement and more intimate access to the artists they love in the age of social media. How can we facilitate a healthier ecosystem; one that mutually benefits artists and fans alike?
Expedition Co. is helping Beatstoc position itself to be the solution. In doing so, ExCo has designed and built a scalable mobile and desktop web product that executes on Beatstoc’s core objective: provide a public platform to foster a more meaningful, intimate relationship between music artists and their fans, while rewarding artists with new revenue streams.

Kind Traveler
Lead by two industry veterans, the founders of Kind Traveler are attempting to change the world one hotel night at a time. Their business model is simple, donate money to a charity of your choice and receive a rebate on your next hotel stay. The complicated part? Building a robust booking platform that ties seamlessly into the hotel industry’s universal database while also allowing for unrestricted, secure donations to any charity world-wide.
The task: create a hotel booking platform that services the hospitality industry while simultaneously rewarding its users for their charitable generosity and philanthropic outreach.
With such an overwhelming number of hotel options to choose from and just as many charities around the world, we needed to find the perfect balance between providing information that is immediately accessible vs. information that is hidden within intuitive filters, expandable containers, and well-laid out subpages.
"Conscious Traveler"
The Expedition Co. not only understands this concept, it practices it. The idea of being a mindful traveler - someone that is socially aware of the effects their travels have on others - was woven right into the website’s design. This resulted in an end product that actually feels like it is doing good for the planet. At its core, Kind Traveler’s user-experience promotes, celebrates, and empowers the conscious traveler.

Lexus Performance Driving School Registration Website
6 world-renowned race-tracks across 5 states in 7 months, the Lexus Performance Driving School isn’t for the faint of heart. To complement this thrilling and unparalleled experience, Lexus needed a registration site and payment portal for attendees to enroll in the program and select their race venue. The Expedition Co. rose to the challenge, and we're proud to have delivered a world-class product for such an iconic brand.
ExCo was tasked with designing an intuitive and simple website with aesthetics of luxury, elegance, and power—qualities synonymous with Lexus's brand. Users on the website should feel the excitement of the racetrack, the rush that comes from being behind the wheel of a performance luxury car.
To determine how the program is produced in the coming years, the Lexus team needed to know who is visiting the site, what cars draw the most interest, and what information visitors find most helpful. The Expedition Co. built analytics into the site to give the Lexus team the information and insight they need to make informed decisions about the frequency of future events, what types of cars to make available, and what registration tiers to offer, which are all subject to change.
The average person doesn't know the difference in horsepower between the Lexus RC F and LC 500, but visitors to the Lexus Performance Driving School website do. To respect their interest and excitement in Lexus Performance Racing, we built a site with lean UX—not saturated with over-hyped marketing lingo and extra fluff—to give them what they want without boring them with minutiae.

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO of Coffee Now LLC. We’re located in Yakima, Washington, and we have about 14 employees.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
We were looking o build a complete software solution for a mobile beverage delivery service.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Expedition Co. has built customer, in-house employee, and admin control board apps from scratch. They’ve done development and design. We initially had a blueprint in our head, so we gave them what we wanted to do, and they worked on it from that.
We’ve built the project in phases. The initial sprint was from April–October 2020, and then they worked on various features, updates, and bug fixes throughout the end of 2020 and into April 2021. After that, we started to ramp back up with the team to build the second version.
The product is a beverage delivery service, so all the orders, payments, and deliveries are done through it. We have an online menu, a group order feature, saved recent history, and so on. It’s for iOS and Android, and we’re working on a web version as well.
What is the team composition?
We personally work with four people. Our main point of contact is Matt (Head of Engineering); he is very sharp.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
We actually found them on Clutch. My business partner and I had kicked around the idea, and we needed a software partner. We weren’t looking for a large firm; we wanted to team up with someone who could mold our needs and standards.
Since we didn’t know about building a software platform, we researched online and came across Clutch. We dug into it and went through the site; we submitted our idea, which was sent to different software companies. In the end, we reached out to 3–4 vendors, but we decided to go with Expedition Co.
We initially got along well with one of the partners, so we felt that they were relating to what we were trying to do since the beginning. Also, they were interested in being our partner and having some skin in the game. That was huge for us because we were looking for a lifelong relationship, so we needed to feel confident that it would be the right fit.
Finally, we chatted with them for a bit and flew down to L.A. to meet their team in person before we signed the deal and moved forward with them.
How much have you invested with them?
The first phase was $350,000; we spent an additional $10,000–$20,000 that got us up to April. We’ll probably spend $150,000–$200,000 more before the end of the year.
What is the status of this engagement?
We got into discussions in late 2019 and flew to L.A. in March 2020. They started working on our project in April 2020, and our partnership is ongoing, but it has been in big waves.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s been a great relationship all around; we’ve been very pleased with Expedition Co. When we first started, we built the idea on a grand scale and had to tailor back. They were very instrumental in helping us figure out the phases and what we needed to do.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
We have a Slack one-on-one call every week, and they give us updates often. We had a different project manager when we first started, but we’re now working with Matt. He has taken over our project, and it has gone really well.
The majority of our communication is through Slack, but we’ve had a couple of emails here and there to share wireframes and so on.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The main points for us have been their trustworthiness and relatability. They have some experience in the beverage industry, and the partners have been friends for a long time, just like us. We merged well together, and Expedition Co. understands our long-term goals and visions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don’t think so. We’ve worked with them for some time now, and our experience has been very pleasant. They’re flexible and focused on the big picture, which helps us to move where we want to go.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be open and honest. Communicate what you want to do and where you want to go. They do an excellent job of seeing the larger picture and doing whatever it takes to get there.

Web Dev & Rebranding Support for Event Tech Company
"Expedition Co. was just perfectly on time, all the time — they never missed a single beat."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the senior marketing manager at an event technology company. We build products for the event industry, including technologies that enable event registration and analytics.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
We needed their team to support our rebranding efforts.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve been in the business for over 10 years, so our company wanted to optimize our operations by rewarding our clients with a brand overhaul. The main challenge we were faced with was having an outdated website that didn’t represent our products well, so Expedition Co. came into the picture to help us address this.
We relayed our design and branding preferences to their team, and they helped us flesh out and finalize the font styles, color schemes, and branding styles to implement into our website and other ad products. They then sent out a variety of samples and mock-ups for our internal team’s approval. Once we selected the version that best represented our brand and nature of business, Expedition Co. implemented minor tweaks to finalize the design before the wireframing phase.
During the product development phase, we conducted multiple testing and feedback sessions to ensure that the website functioned ideally before its go-live. We also tasked Expedition Co. with generating additional web pages as the implementation stage progressed.
What is the team composition?
My main point of contact was Jesse (Co-Founder), but we worked with three resources from their team, including one project manager, one web developer, and one graphic designer.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
I found their team on Clutch while looking for potential agencies to hire for this particular project. We shortlisted their team along with two other companies, and all of them underwent our vetting process. We were impressed with their portfolio and the client testimonials featured on their website. Additionally, we were convinced that their team could reward us with the same quality of results, so we reached out to them and kicked off the engagement.
What is the status of this engagement?
Our rebranding project with Expedition Co. ran from January–June 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Expedition Co. was an expert and professional team that brought our rebranding ideas to life. Everyone was blown away with what they produced — the absence of negative feedback from our partners and our internal staff was our main success metric for their team’s work.
We launched the website last June 2021 and quickly received impressive boosts in leads and our social media engagement. Expedition Co. was victorious in reintroducing our brand as a lucrative platform of sophistication, and this resulted in great investment deals and demo requests from multiple companies. Had it not been for their team’s efforts, we wouldn’t be able to market our business as an important service provider in the luxury sector.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
I can’t say enough good things about Expedition Co.’s project management approach — they were a communicative and adaptable team that took all our requests and feedback into great consideration. Not only did they adhere to our timelines despite our last-minute adjustment requests, but they also worked hard to ensure that everything they delivered was high-caliber. Expedition Co. was just perfectly on time, all the time — they never missed a single beat.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Expedition Co. delivered flawless iterations and solutions that embodied both their expertise and our branding needs. We had no issues in voicing out what we wanted them to generate — they were always understanding and respectful of our ideas.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Expedition Co. was a fabulous partner — there’s honestly that nothing they could’ve done better or differently.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Be prepared with a clear-cut vision of everything you want to achieve through their efforts. Additionally, since the results reflect hard work from both ends, make sure that your team matches their level of productivity.

Website Dev & 3D Design for Surgical Instrument Company
"They were innovative and understood our vision."

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Our company makes surgical instruments for the operation room. I’m the director of sales for the organization.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
COVID-19 changed the way we positioned our company in the hospital. We needed to transform out sales techniques from in-person to online. We wanted our sales representatives to be able to use our website to sell without needing to be in hospitals.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Expedition helped us create an informative and interactive design that allowed our end-users to walk through our product and see it from all angles. They developed a website with a rendering that allows users to immerse themselves in the product without physically having it. It was a website development project, and they essentially created a 3D design.
What is the team composition?
We worked with at least four people from Expedition. We worked with an engineer, a UX designer, and a sales representative who was the intermediary between all of us.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
I did a Google search but then did a deeper dive when I learned that a lot of different companies could build a site for us. We liked Expedition’s website because it was clean and innovative. They matched our company’s position and understood our vision.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent roughly $50,000 on the project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We collaborated between April 2020–January 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We liked the way that users walk through the website. It’s seamless. Our distributors and end-users are impressed by it. Their feedback demonstrates that it works the way we want it to. It’s a great sales tool because we’re able to show the end-user our product without being in the operating room.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
Their team was great. They used software that had different projects on it, and we would sign off on them. It was a good process. Communication was strong too. If there was a challenge or issue, they were quick to solve it.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were innovative and understood our vision. We’re a vision-forward company and like carrying our brand throughout the industry. Their team was receptive to our thoughts about how we wanted to be perceived. They translated that into a site.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they did a great job. Overall, I was happy.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Walk into the project knowing what you want. If you don’t know what you want when building a site, it probably won’t turn out the way you expected it to.

Website Development for Infrastructure Advisory Firm
“Some changes are done in minutes, and others are typically done within 24 hours.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work for Moffat & Nichol, which is an infrastructure advisory firm. We provide engineering design services and scientific services as well. It encompasses everything from marine and waterfront to freeways and coastal engineering. I’m the marketing director of the firm.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
We had an outdated website that didn’t speak to what we do. It was difficult to edit, so we had to do all of that work through a developer. We also brainstormed with them on the best way to demonstrate our services and our capabilities in a modern, fresh way, that was within the standards of our industry. Still, we wanted to push the envelope a little bit and show ourselves as an industry leader through the design and functionality of the site.
What was the scope of their involvement?
It started with a brainstorming session where they came to our corporate office. We went through what we wanted from the site, which was the ability to prove our capabilities, and to attract talent to the company. We needed to improve recruiting efforts through the website.
They went back to their office and came up with a few concepts. They presented the first concept to myself and the brand manager, we requested some refinements, they made those changes. We went through some internal struggle on how we wanted to present our service capabilities, and they brainstormed that as well.
They designed it in Webflow, it’s scalable for mobile and tablet devices. They enhanced SEO on the site and made it ADA compliant as well.
Now we’re in beta testing and they’re loading content onto the site. We’re working through a few small changes.
What is the team composition?
I’m working with a group of four people.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
Our marketing communication coordinator researched some options for developers. We had several requirements. First, We wanted there to be a sizable staff to ensure we can have a long-term relationship with the company. Second, Local to our area so we can meet with them in person.
We made a few phone calls and received rough quotes. Then we met with three different companies and landed on Expedition Co.
Their initial presentation was very good. They had already done some research on our company and website. They were very personable and pleasant to talk to. Their portfolio was strong and their price was in our range.
We liked that they didn’t require a monthly subscription because our site doesn’t need regular maintenance.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from June 2019–March 2020.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The entire executive team is happy with the look and feel of the site. It. Brings us forward with a more modern look and better functionality. They appreciate the careers page, which will help us recruit because it shows personnel on a more relatable level. We are now able to highlight people, which can be a great feature for our industry.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management is really good. I can talk to the designer, the account manager, and the billing office, all depending on what I need.
They were collaborative from start to finish, providing their suggestions. They demonstrated what they've done to for other clients and helped us conceptualize the way that it would function on our site.
Their turnaround time is remarkable. Some changes are done in minutes, and others are typically done within 24 hours.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The way they run projects. They maintain a personal touch. Web developers can sometimes be difficult to brainstorm with, but their team was fabulous to work with. On top of that, their execution is top notch.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Honestly, I can’t think of anything.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Come to the table with some ideas in hand with what you want for the site, but keep an open mind to their suggestions. They have a lot of best practices and experience in mind.

Website Audit & User Testing for Ad Agency
“Their ability to collaborate as if we were on the same team was completely seamless.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work as an account director at a purpose-driven full-service ad agency.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
We have a client that is a large women’s membership-based volunteer organization, and they get a lot of anecdotal complaints about their website. It doesn’t perform to its full potential as either a lead-generation or a donation execution platform for the brand, so they are missing a lot of opportunity to educate site users, secure new members, and capture donations.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The first step of the project has been to conduct an audit of the entire site. Through a combination of user testing, content evaluation, and site mapping, Expedition Co. provided a comprehensive list of recommendations and material changes that would need to be considered before they start the redesign and development process for their website.
On a more granular level, Expedition Co. was responsible for a quantitative analysis based on the Google Analytics they had in place in order to be able to report what the current performance was to form a basis for evaluating the new site.
What is the team composition?
We worked with between 4–5 members of their team throughout the project.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
We had a few points of connection with them that made them an easy choice when we started looking for a partner on this project. The founder of our agency knew one of their principals, and they had done a little work for our website a little while ago. Because we had that experience them, it was easy to sell their frontend UX capabilities to the client.
What is the status of this engagement?
We went through the whole process, from signing the contract to presenting our results to their executive team, between August–November 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The two success metrics that we used to measure their performance were fairly distinct. One was completing the critical amount of user testing within the narrowed range of users that we were able to talk to. Once we knew who the contacts were, Expedition Co. was awesome at getting everything scheduled, and they were able to deliver a ton of data that was quickly synthesized for our purposes.
The ultimate success metric, after that, was whether we would be able to make a compelling case as to why this redesign is necessary. That was also achieved, as demonstrated by the fact that we are about to launch into that new development process.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
They performed as well as I could have hoped. There were few instances where their team interacted directly with our client, so in a way, it was as if they were working with me. Their collaboration was tremendous, and they were able to make the execution of the audit process almost completely flawless.
No matter who we were working with, they were always really quick to respond and very professional. They preferred to just hop on the phone and work through an issue right then and there, rather than bouncing messages back and forth for days, which I really appreciated.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their ability to collaborate as if we were on the same team was completely seamless. We’re in New York and they’re in LA, but it never felt like we were playing catch up with them or wasting time because of the proactive approach and resourcefulness that they brought to the work.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I wish that we had been able to show more technically what our recommendations were going to be. However, we made the decision at the beginning of the project that our pitch to the client would resonate more if it focused more on the ideas and the numbers behind them without getting too into the weeds of design solutions.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would advise anyone working with Expedition Co. to over-emphasize what type of individuals your clients are, including what they like, what they don’t like, what their strengths are, and what their weaknesses are. They are very good at adapting their strategy to different client personalities and will be able to maximize their performance based on that information.

Web-Hosted Portal Development for IT Company
“Their team worked with speed and accuracy.”
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a commercial project manager for an IT company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
We were looking to streamline and update our client portal, which is primarily used for communication. We needed the new platform to remove the back-and-forth correspondence and paper generated by the old process.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Expedition Co. created an online shopping system that allows our customers to log in and see every single product and price offered by our company. They handled design efforts as well as front- and backend work using MagicEngine and UnitHub.
Their team also provided database management. They integrated configuration tools and processes to connect a whole host of internal systems. This was in order to smooth out the process of generating and building devices on the front- and backend to adhere to our complex systems. Our project phases included initial concepts, wireframing, and then beta testing with key customers.
What is the team composition?
My initial contact was Kevin (Product Owner and QA Lead, Expedition Co.). He brought Jesse (Founder and Partner, Expedition Co.) and Isaac (Founder and Partner, Expedition Co.) in to work through the project with me. Sean (CTO, Expedition Co.) came on board to help with backend design. Kevin (Product Design Lead, Expedition Co.) worked on the frontend interface. There were also many individuals working on the project at different points with whom I had no contact.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
I came to know Expedition Co. through a friend of a friend. After considering several agencies, they stood apart from the rest in terms of understanding our needs.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested between $250,000–$500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from February 2018–February 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Expedition Co. met every timeline and KPI set throughout the scope of the project. Customer feedback has been incredibly positive regarding the portal’s functionality, beautiful design, and brand compliance.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
They were brilliant. Their team worked with speed and accuracy. Expedition Co. helped us come to grips with project tasks and how they were going to work.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Expedition Co. understands the customer journey from a frontend perspective. Their impressive technical background allows them to understand what clients look to achieve beyond the bare bones of a program, website, or application. Expedition Co. has an excellent ability to make complex concepts and terminology easily understandable to novices. Their team seamlessly and professionally interacted with our stakeholders.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, there isn’t anything because we worked together very well.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I advise them to gather every stakeholder in a room with Expedition Co. to run through a full day. The quicker Expedition Co. understands what you’re trying to achieve, the sooner they can deliver results.

To create an easily navigable website that allows the visitor to listen and view The Longing's music and videos, peruse the photo gallery, follow their social media and purchase music.
How did you select this vendor?
Jesse Davis of Expedition Co. has created all of my websites in the past, and when the time came for a revision, there is no one else I trust to design The Longing's website.
Describe the project in detail.
To revise and update a rock band's website.
What was the team composition?
Jesse Davis is my personal advisor. His team takes over and delivers layout and design.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Working with Jesse Davis and Expedition Co. is always a delight and was an enormous success. Jesse and his brilliant team took my project (this is the third) by the reins, created incredible designs that fully represent my symphonic metal band,
The Longing, with strong and beautiful imagery and an easy to navigate website. Jesse understands the connection between music and the art of design and draws the viewer and fan into a visual experience that looks and feels like a Longing concert. I've written 7 albums, and have a very specific idea about what I want at all times lyrically and artistically, yet I've never brought any ideas to the table with Jesse about my website desires.
Jesse brings his ideas about what he thinks represents my project to me and he's never been wrong! Jesse's experience, talent and intuition with his clientele and subject matter bring to life a simple website and creates a magical and artistic experience for the fan and the viewer.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Extremely effective. A simple email detailing what their team needs from my team generally was the strategy and works every time. Tasks were deliverable in a very timely manner and nothing was deemed to challenging.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
I am always impressed with the turn around time and follow through.
Are there any areas for improvement?
I am very pleased with the working relationship and the project.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of Easy Life Brands, a company that creates products to make life easier.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
I wanted to create an app that turns photos into emoji-sized cartoons. In essence, I wanted users to upload a selfie and then have that photo turned into a cartoon emoji. They could then text those cartoons to their friends.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Expedition Co. developed the app and launched it in the App Store. I came up with the idea, and they figured out how to make it all happen. As for functionalities, users can take their cartoon and add text, change the background color, or crop it into different shapes.
What is the team composition?
I worked with about six people—four for main tasks and two for specific ones.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
They were recommended to me by a different company.
How much have you invested with them?
I invested about $65,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from April–December 2019. There was a month-and-a-half break in the middle due to vacation time on both ends.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The quality of work was exceptional. I have nothing negative to say about them. They even visited me in my office a couple of times. Their team was easy to work with, diligent, and up-to-speed on the latest technology.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
They were absolutely great. Their communication skills were fantastic, and their team was professional.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They outlined the entire project before they gave it to me. Then they created timelines and met each of them, even with my many requested changes.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s nothing they could have done differently.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
There’s nothing I can think of. They were great—they listened, paid attention, and made needed changes.

Website Development for Mining & Metals Company
"We expected a little bit of sizzle on the site, but nothing like what they delivered."

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Luck Companies is a provider of crushed stone aggregate for highways and buildings. I’m a digital marketing strategist in charge of social media and web design.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
We have an annual impact report and we wanted to digitize that product to make it more available to our web audience.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They took the digital PDF of our report and turned it into a beautiful web experience. It’s a standalone website but it’s linked to our existing websites. They slimmed down the PDF of the report, kept its core functionality, and added really cool animations to bring it to life digitally.
What is the team composition?
They wanted to make sure there wasn’t a large amount of bureaucracy getting in the way of efficient delivery, so we worked with a small team. Isaac (Partner, Expedition Co.) led the project.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
We had experience with a web development firm who recommended them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent $25,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from July–August 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It blew our minds that they pulled off this project in a month. We’ve gotten feedback from customers around the world who were happy with the convenience.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
The short timeframe of this project was like building a car as you drive down the road, and they had the best speed of communication I’ve worked with. If I sent an email at 8 p.m. on a weekend, I would get a response. They’re very responsive and the feedback loop was really good.
We’re on East Coast time and they’re on the West Coast, but they would always respond quickly. I think they’re vampires—they don’t sleep. They really came through for us and that was a huge relief.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They had the technical ability to do everything we wanted and the imagination to bring it to life. Even though they were up against a pretty tight timeline, their innovation was amazing. We expected a little bit of sizzle on the site, but nothing like what they delivered.
They listened and didn’t push back on changes we suggested throughout the process. It was also amazing to work directly with Isaac. I can’t wait to work with him again.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I wonder if we did a real website build—with project management and planning—what the process would be because I didn’t get a good sense of that. I’m not sure how they’d handle project management, change requests, and quality control in a larger full-scale project.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don’t pen them in, let them run.

Web and E-Commerce Dev for Custom Window Solutions Startup
"When they encounter what seems like an insurmountable problem, they’re always able to find a solution."

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of Everhem, a custom window treatment solutions platform. Our business lets users customize their own products based on their window measurements and then order the products directly.
What challenge were you trying to address with Expedition Co.?
We needed someone to develop our e-commerce site.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Expedition Co. did everything from UI/UX design to front- and backend coding of the site. They designed the site, built the site, and were very involved in finding other vendors to create anything that they couldn’t do. The e-commerce platform is entirely custom and uses Stripe as its only third-party API.
Expedition Co also helped to find partners to create some assets that we couldn’t make on our own, like 3D renderings of what our products would look like on a window. We needed rendering for each of our 32 different fabrics across three distinct product lines, along with a bunch of different options that change how it looks. In the end, we needed a few thousand renderings. Isaac (Partner, Expedition Co.) found our rendering partner in Bulgaria, and we got a reasonable price on it.
Before starting this company, I was working as a designer at an advertising agency focused on branding. The first thing I did was name the company, create a logo, and then I developed the brand guideline. I also created some website screens. We met with Isaac’s team, and they took everything in and built the site map. They used a lot of what I created, but they changed a fair amount to make it better than I ever could have.
What is the team composition?
Isaac was always the main point of contact. Kevin (Lead Product Designer, Expedition Co.) was my second go-to for frontend stuff. Borin (Software Engineer, Expedition Co.) was the backend guru working off all the economic models that I built and coding them into the site. That way, when users place an order, it works. Kevin (QA Lead, Expedition Co.) also was involved, along with a few other junior designers and coders. There were probably 5-7 people working on the project.
How did you come to work with Expedition Co.?
I found Expedition Co. on Clutch. They were one of the top names that came up. I started looking at websites of web development agencies to help me decide if I trust them to build my website. Expedition Co. was the first one I looked at, and I loved it much more than the other sites I saw. Within half a day of filling out their contact form, they got back to me. The next day we were on a call with them. They understood what it was that we were trying to build, and we felt they could make it. They even met with my wife and me at our house for a good 1–1.5 hours to spitball ideas.
At that point, we were very excited about going with Expedition Co., but we still did our due diligence and got a few more bids. Each of those came in exactly about double what Expedition Co. was proposing. I reached out to Isaac and asked if he was charging too little. He said they don’t ever pack extra time and padding into a bid for the unknown. He said there aren’t any unknowns for them and if there were, they’re confident they can figure it out and would stick to the bid.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $50,000–$100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from December 2018 until August 2019.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
It’s been a long ride, but a successful one. We completed the development about 30 days ago. Expedition Co. is still fixing little bugs if I find them or things that aren’t working exactly how I want it. However, they’ve yet to charge hourly for it—they’re still honoring the original contract.
The site speaks for itself. What we were hoping for was an e-commerce destination for window treatments that would blow everything else that exists in the marketplace out of the water. I firmly believe that our site does that. The frontend is beautiful, and the backend is fully functional.
Everyone that has visited the site is very impressed. Any sales that we make will be 100% attributable to the website. Once we focus on brand awareness, I’m confident we’re going to get even more.
How did Expedition Co. perform from a project management standpoint?
The team was always very transparent about how long things would take. The things that made the project take a lot longer were out of their control, such as when other vendors would come through with deliverables Expedition Co. needed. Their project management was pretty on point—they did everything they said they were going to do. The project took four months longer than anticipated, but I don’t fault them for it. We used Slack to communicate throughout.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m most impressed by Expedition Co.’s cool-headedness. When they encounter what seems like an insurmountable problem, they’re always able to find a solution. When we first hired them, we believed that we could probably do this in Shopify. Expedition Co. said they didn’t think they could, but they could build a custom solution instead. Their team never came across a problem they couldn’t solve. I always felt that I was in good hands.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Sometimes there were little issues with the site that we would notice. Expedition Co. fixed them, but they didn’t find them themselves. However, I don’t expect anyone to be perfect like that either.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Always have an open line of communication. Don’t be afraid to contact Expedition Co. through Slack at any time—day or night. They will respond as soon as they’re available. You’re also going to get as much out of it as you put into it. If you’re in constant communication and asking questions, they’ll be transparent with you.
The client has been extremely satisfied with Expedition Co.’s delivery and performance. They’ve stood out for their trustworthiness, knowledge, and ability to adapt to the client’s environment. Moreover, the team is well-organized and communicative; they use Slack and provide constant updates.
