Our company has yet to be launched, but it is designed to help people find service provider businesses / individuals. It will also provide a targeted advertising platform for service providers and B2B businesses.  

What business challenge were you trying to address with the vendor?

Our vision for the website was very complex (including enabling business owners to run their own advertising campaigns online with specialist tools), and had not advanced beyond concept phase when we approached the market looking for developers. 

The challenge at this stage was for someone to understand our vision and requirements, and develop these into a fully functional website, which could form the basis of future business development and launch processes. 

What was the scope of their involvement?

Evne Developers were first presented with our vision via an information pack containing process maps, flow charts, functional requirement / specification details, sitemaps, and sketches. Working from this, and engaging with us at all stages via email, video calls, and screen share sessions to ensure that they had correctly interpreted the project scope and requirements, they developed this vision into a fully functional, well designed, and aesthetically pleasing website.

How did you come to work with the vendor?

We posted the job on Freelancers and were approached by Mr. Roman B., of Evne Developers, who impressed us greatly with his approach. 

Evne Developers spent a great deal of time on research, reviewing all the information that we sent across, and querying areas of uncertainty in order to best determine how to build our site and accurately estimate development costs.

Unlike any other developers we approached, before asking for any money, Evne provided us with a detailed plan, broken down into a series of milestones with costs for each. Each milestone was reached on time, within budget.

The site is almost finished.

We now have a fully developed software solution to support further development of our business model, where previously we had only a vision.

How did the vendor perform from a project management standpoint?

Evne Developers provided us with a project manager who was immensely resourceful and helpful, and a delight to deal with. She explained everything in great detail, providing calls whenever needed, and ensured that the project was managed in accordance with agreed timeframes and milestones.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Our site is immensely complex and needed some highly skilled coders; working with React and Django they produced effective, workable software solutions, enabling multiple user types at the front end, and 7 administrator types in the back end. 

Their project manager and coders put forward many brilliant suggestions / recommendations during development, each of which have greatly improved our product and service offering. They clearly all worked hard to do the very best they could.

Their (high-end) designer / graphic artist is an absolute genius at creating stylish but simplistic, user-friendly designs. Her superb designs and layouts far exceeded our expectations.

No, not from our experience; they’ve done a magnificent job.

For what projects/services did your company hire EVNE Developers, LLC, and what were your goals?

EVNE Developers LLC is our long-term partner providing React.JS development expertise. For some projects, JSP faced a lack of strong Node experts without the possibility to hire them in time. Thus, we decided to fill the gaps with some third-party developers. Other goals, as it always happens with staff augmentation, were based on the exact projects.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were looking for a vendor to provide us on demand with React.JS developers since our in-house experts were too busy with other projects. The primal research took a bunch of time because it's not the most popular technology compared to PHP for example. So! was very glad to find EVNE Developers LLC and discover their expertise in this area.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We have cooperated with EVNE Developers for half a year. Together with the team we successfully managed to perform front-end development, modification of old interface, as well as support services for the system. The technologies of the product included React, TypeScript, MobX, GraphQL, Apollo, Material-UI, Formik, ExcelJS.

As far as the area of the product is a business startup, it required constant improvement and implementation of new features according to long-term strategy. Such an approach was successfully reached with the communication skills of the developers. They resulted in the complete refusal from daily long-term meetings that wasted too many resources.

We like the flow of the team they perform their tasks, the attitude to the project and their ability to form the ground for future stable scalability.

The project management was arranged on our side. We had no critical EVNE Developers, it was just like with our in-house developers working from home.

I’m the business developer of Scalamandra, and we’re a software and mobile development company.

We needed someone to provide us with iOS development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

EVNE Developers is helping us build an MVP of the iOS version of our mobile app. This is a companion app that helps users in Thailand monitor their driving behavior. 

It's an iOS mobile application (actually MVP) in the Logistics area of business. The task was to use a pre-developed design and implement it into three multilanguage applications with the Swift technology.

The app functionality is tied with the use of a gyroscope and GPS tracker, ensuring the serviceability of which become the primary goal of the developer. And it was reached completely, together with the design and databases interconnection completion.

I came across them through a Skype group. We chose them because they were really kind and open to helping us. We also analyzed the market for these services as well as looking at the ratings and completed projects. I liked the projects made by EVNE.

I am the CEO and general manager of BWB Marketing, which is located in Israel. Our company manages websites on behalf of clients and decides what will be developed and designed. We manage several large websites with multiple sections. Currently, we are handling eight websites for a client, from development to content and monetization.

Our company has been working with EVNE Developers for a long time. We have outsourced most of our tasks to their team. In order to keep our websites relevant, we need changes in them all the time. These include cosmetic design changes and improvements, such as the installation of new technologies and solutions. We also have to address user experience and monetization problems.

EVNE has done a lot of work for us, including design changes and technology implementation. They have developed a custom AMP [Accelerated Mobile Pages] plug-in which works as a fast way to display ads. All our work is PHP-based and on WordPress. We work with phpBB for forums, MediaWiki, custom CakePHP code, and so on. We got several solutions from EVNE, starting from consultation on what products and services to deploy and up to developing whatever custom solution needed.

I believe that I found EVNE Developers on Upwork while looking for freelancers. I started an initial contact with their CEO and started working with other people in the company later on. Our first job was something small, which we assigned in order to get an idea of the communication and skills of the team. There will always be problems no matter what the job is, so good communication—the ability to listen and understand the other side—is the most important element for me. I know that if something goes wrong, there will be someone to talk to, and I’m not alone. I liked how they thought and the level of communication, so I continued to give them more and more work.

It’s hard to say, given that they haven’t developed entire websites for us. There are many moving parts to the work. Attributing an X% increase to them would not be correct, professionally-speaking.

How did EVNE Developers perform from a project management standpoint?

I began working with EVNE Developers’ owner, then continued communicating with other resources. I have been pleased with everyone on the project management side. For me, the most important aspects are communication and the attitude of partners. I know that, when I assign a project to EVNE Developers, it will be managed. In my eyes, this involves a few parts. Some are more professional and related to task delegation. Others are related to how the client’s expectations are managed, with respect to deadlines.

I don’t know how tasks are delegated, and I like this fact. I don’t care what happens behind the scenes. There is one person who talks to me, and who knows me and my project. If he doesn’t know a specific answer, he will check, but I can make an agreement on deadlines. I haven’t seen the technical side of project management, but rather the front side, which is more important than anything. Constantly missed deadlines and miscommunication would have made me leave EVNE Developers a long time ago. Deadlines are always missed in this field, but there is a way of communicating that to the client and proposing alternative paths for catching up. This is how I manage projects with my own clients, and it’s how EVNE Developers manages the work with me.

We value professionals, like the team at EVNE. I believe there are many metrics you can measure a service provider. For us, communication is the most important one. Working with someone for a long period of time is all about communication. There will always be problems, if not with one project then with another one, so excellent communication gives us the confidence that every problem will be solved and our project will come out perfectly.

skillbyte GmbH is a software company based in Germany and we work for mid-sized to big companies developing individualized custom software for them. It can be a website or a complete intranet portal. We also handle customized content management systems, from small sites like WordPress to big size enterprise content management systems like CoreMedia, which is one of the big players here in Germany. We do frontend and backend development. I’m the CEO.

The only measure I have is the websites, which everybody can see. The project is for a big electronics retailer in Germany and they are extremely satisfied with the work EVNE has done on their site. They have shown the site to other people and they have praised it a couple of times internally and externally. If my customer is satisfied, then I am too.

Our project manager is available nearly 24/7. I can always contact him either at work or from home in the evening. In the morning, he is the first to write to me when I’m still in the car driving to the office. He’s performing extremely well.

What did you find most impressive about EVNE Developers?

Their communication is the best of any company I’ve worked with. They’re always open for discussions and they think a lot about the project themselves without me having to say something. If my project manager misses something, they’re always there to let us know. I’ve been working with offshore companies for 15 years and have had a lot of bad experiences where I have to give out every bit of work and chew it up for them. We’ve worked with a ton of different development agencies in the past and had a lot of issues, but EVNE Developers crush it with their top-notch quality and good QA process. Any company is made by its employees, as well as here, wonderful experienced staff who understands what they are doing and why.

We've mainly used Slack for direct communication and Trello for creating Backlogs and sprint catalogs. Redmine was used for time tracking and budget tracking.

Sometimes communication was a little bit challenging when request was made from the client, to project manager to the developer, especially when the project manager changed. But as a long-term project, this was foreseeable and EVNE was always responsive on clarifying issues and finding a common ground.

There is always room for improvement, both from the clients side and vendors' side. Having said that, as a UI/UX Designer, I focus on details.
