Olsson & Gerthel
The main purpose of the project was to make an application that allows users to redesign their apartments online by getting new design versions as well as interior elements. The clients are able to provide the existing apartment floor and wall plans, images, add various items to keep and select the design that they prefer. We have solely developed the app pages for both clients (where users are able to provide the information about their apartment rooms as well as their enhancement desires in order to receive a completely new offer on the interior) and admins (where admins can see information about current projects and offer proposals).
Desinion
The main purpose of this work was the creation of web application, in which the user could generate the web-form for the preliminary designer’s consideration as well as getting feedbacks from other users before approving the design.
Our team created the web application, in which the animated form elements are generated (such as text areas, inputs, checkboxes, image uploaders, calendar, etc.). After the form is created, it is possible to either save it as a template and use it further as a basis for the other templates or to send for designer’s consideration.
Spoonity
Spoonity Web Onscreen App is a web application that allows restaurant customers to use the loyalty program. The application includes:
- Setting up the application by the restaurant manager (this makes it possible to customize the application for any restaurant).
- Authorization or registration of customers
- Possibility to pay bills through the application, as well as the opportunity to use loyalty points by purchasing rewards.
- View the user's data, as well as the history of their operations, etc.
The development of this application included: architecture planning, choice of software stack for solving the tasks, development of all application components, testing.
The presentation of the application was done as to the layouts, taking into account all modern technologies, so adaptive layout was also implemented to convenient use the application on different devices.
3D project for helicopter flights booking
The purpose was to create 3D WebGL interactive scene containing background, animated flying helicopter model and foreground.
The basic implemented features are:
- Browser testing for compatible WebGL versions and applying the maximum version of the supported.
- Working with gyroscope data if it is present
- Preloading scene resources (models, textures)
- Composer-based graphics pipeline (rendering passes, postprocessing passes including reflection, blur, texture crop shaders)
- 3D viewer encapsulation as ES6 UMD module
Performed interactive abilities are :

Helicopter sways on its X and Y-axis relative to the mouse position on desktop or the gyroscope on mobile

Canvas with the scene is used as the website background.
The main challenges were the following:
1. Gyroscope data differs from operation system and browser, also chromium update was released just during development, it was removed insecure usage of gyroscope events. Considering this, it took more time to implement providing the correct gyroscope data.
2. Even after preloading textures to the client machine, they were loaded to the videoRAM only when the first 3D scene rendering cycle appeared. So after preloading must be used also “prerendering” for each texture to avoid screen freezing during first rendering cycle.

3D Viewer
3D Model Viewer is a web player (application) that allows customers to view 3D models. The player includes:
- Review three-dimensional models in various formats (Obj, fbx, lh) with different texture formats supported (Bmp, Tga, Png, Jpg, Jpeg).
- Camera movement, rotation, zoom.
- Displaying of animated models.
- Change of textures, animations, models.
The user can view 3D models in the player window. It was implemented with using WebGL and the latest standards in the area of 3D models rendering.
The app presentation was done with layouts according to all modern technologies using UNITY 3D as well as adaptive layout was implemented for displaying of the application on different devices.
The application development included: choice of technology’s stack, architecture planning for the application, development of all application components, testing.
Bitcoin conversion service
Bitcoin conversion service is a backend service that was developed to automate process of currency conversion. It includes the following functionality:
- Creating internal charts that are based on market trades;
- Creating external charts based on international currency rates;
- Switching between internal/external market rates by admin choice;
- Converting different types of currencies (Fiat, crypto, G-token, ETH-token, etc.);
- Automatically switching to internal/external rates in case if some of them expired and no more actual.

I’m the president of an organization that designs and develops software solutions for the interior design industry.
What challenge were you trying to address with The Evenstar?
We needed help in developing a user-friendly web app that would make it easier for interior designers to create and design 3D spaces.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We hired The Evenstar to help us develop a web-based application and its features using Three.js. The web app, which is specifically designed for the kitchen cabinet design industry, not only allows users to design and decorate 3D spaces but also provides manufacturers the necessary data to estimate the materials and time needed to build something.
The Evenstar helped us build the app from scratch and implement custom features that allow manufacturers to extract manufacturing data out of designs. Additionally, they provided consulting services to help us determine which technologies and architecture to use for the app’s development.
The app was soft-launched last year, and we’ve since started working with our customers to further improve the app and make sure that they’re satisfied with it.

I am the co-founder of Spoonity. We are a loyalty gift card platform that offers white-label mobile applications and mobile payment options mostly to restaurants.
What challenge were you trying to address with The Evenstar?
The Evenstar built two complementary applications for us that are not necessarily core to our platform.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The Evenstar built a web-based loyalty and gift card processing application for use in store, and a dashboard for clients to manage their loyalty card program. They built both applications using AngularJS and standard coding languages such as HTML and CSS.
What is the team composition?
We worked with one primary developer and one secondary developer that handled a smaller component of the project.
How did you come to work with The Evenstar?
Another company in Ottawa referred them to us. We decided to hire them based on their professionalism and their ability to work without much oversight.
How much have you invested with them?
The project cost between $25,000–$30,000 CAD (approximately $19,000–$23,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
We have been working with them since February 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The Evenstar was able to build us two projects that were launched to client locations and are being successfully implemented by our customers. We are generally satisfied with the quality of their work and their ability to met our technical requirements.
How did The Evenstar perform from a project management standpoint?
We use Jira to communicate with them, assign tasks, and track progress. We have found them to be reliable and trustworthy, and the hours they work match up with ours very well.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their key strength is probably their communication abilities. Even though they are located overseas, they always understand our technical requirements and translate them into a viable product without any language barrier. They also have a very impressive ability to generate frontend design that matches their initial proposal, something that doesn’t happen in this industry very often.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Although we have never asked them to do this, they could try to estimate work and time estimates ahead of time as opposed to working on a task-by-task basis.

Our project was to take an existing React codebase and continue to build on it. We needed someone who could pick up and work with our existing app and continue the development of frontend features.

We vetted and then interviewed approximately 50 developers for this position on various hiring platforms. We hired Evenstar and another partner to work together on our application as their scores were the highest and the cost was reasonable.
