Introduce your business and what you do there
I’m the digital strategy manager of GUMA Group, a holding with many different divisions and I provide support to all of them.
What challenges were you trying to address with Estudio Contar?
We worked with them on different projects related to market research. Our last project was a market research project for one of our company's brands. The study aimed to measure the loyalty of the consumers for that particular brand.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Estudio Contar spearheaded our market research project. We talked to them about our goals and exactly what we wanted to achieve. We also told them what information we needed. After that, they did a quantitative study using surveys and a qualitative study using focus groups. On top of that, they conducted a study using digital platforms.
What was the team composition?
We worked with six people from Estudio Contar.
How did you come to work with Estudio Contar?
We were working with them for a long time, and we considered them as our main service provider for everything related to market research.
How much have you invested in them?
We spent Mex$180,000–Mex$190,000 (approximately $9,000–$9,500 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
Our partnership ran from June–August 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Thanks to the information they were able to gather on this project, we were able to address two situations. The first one was the validation of a hypothesis we had related to this project. The second one was to gather new information that allowed us to set up a plan of improvement that would impact several projects and areas in the company.
How did Estudio Contar perform from a project management standpoint?
Estudio Contar was very organized, and they knew all the implications and details of the services they offered. Since they talked to us about the reach of our project, they made us feel confident that they knew what they were doing. Besides that, they were in constant communication with us and always kept us up to date on their progress. As a result, we were always aware of everything that was going on.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their skills were impressive — they were experts on their craft. They really took the time to get to know our business and the specificity of our sectors. All throughout the engagement, they were very involved and truly became part of our team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I honestly couldn’t say anything. Perhaps, they could’ve moved faster during their first processes. Other than that, I couldn’t point out anything else.

We are a university located in the western part of the country. I work in the planning directorate, rectory staff office. I´m in charge of the institution's business intelligence and institutional statistical information, and I am also in charge of managing institutional market studies, such as advertising campaigns, positioning, new academic programs or special projects of the rectory.

The first time we worked with Estudio Contar was in 2019 to evaluate an institutional campaign and a change of institutional voice in the radio commercials, the campaign evaluated printed mock-ups, messages in different profiles, the study included group sessions. Another study was conducted in the same year to define the name of a new degree program through in-depth interviews.

How did you select this vendor?
In the planning department where I work, we have a supplier selection process for market studies, at least 3 agencies are invited to bid for each project and together with the client we evaluate the methodological proposals, the duration, the agency's experience and the budget, as well as considering how comfortable the client feels with the agency's personality as reflected in its proposals. On one occasion, we spoke to them directly to carry out an institutional strategic project without competition.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
The scope of the market studies that have been carried out with EStudio Contar has gone as far as the generation of proposals. I have noticed and appreciate that they go beyond the objectives set out, making suggestions for the expertise they have generated up to this moment, the results of the studies have proven to be valid, so much so that in the high school project they estimated a certain number of enrollment that we had not considered and in practice it has been fulfilled.
What was the team composition?
The projects we have worked with them have involved marketers, psychologists and sociologists combining their knowledge and experience to provide the results we needed.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The most outstanding in this case so far is the opening of our university high school.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Excellent the contact has always been very fluid starting with the commercial director, in addition to our kick off meetings there is also the general manager and the team that will be working on the project that has helped to have very good communication constantly to understand each other and clarify any questions or details that may arise also during the project are constantly monitoring and reporting progress.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
In their proposals they always have an innovative touch that makes them different from other agencies by proposing new resources or techniques They understand the client's needs even if he/she does not know how to express them perfectly They have a very good interpretation of the client's needs
Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?
I am thinking and so far I can say that we have been very pleased with the quality of the work and the reports delivered. It is an agency that we like to work with and the treatment of their team is excellent and their professional quality is noticeable from the proposals to the delivery of results.

We needed help with a national and international investigation for market research.

They did national and international research for us. They received accurate and proper information to provide answers and develop programs at the university for us.

A co-worker had previously worked with them at a different organization. They were selected due to the investigations they presented in a meeting.

We got good results from the investigation they did. They provided the results to management, who were very satisfied with the results, as well. They're our first option to hire for any future investigations we may need.

I work for Levi Strauss, it’s an international apparel company. I’m the merchandising director for Latin America for three brands of the company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Estudio Contar?
We were looking to understand the main reasons we weren’t having good sales performance for one of our brands. We wanted to identify what we were doing wrong as well as find out what we could do better. Our objectives were to recognize and understand the consumers buying our products and know how to reach them.
What was the scope of their involvement?
In the beginning, Estudio Contar compared this brand’s department store with another one of our department stores that was successful. They conducted interviews with consumers and the sales representatives who are on the floor selling the products.
We wanted to know how customers felt about the product as well as why they were and weren’t buying the products. The deliverable was a report outlining the research and statistics of both consumers and sales reps on the floor.
What is the team composition?
We worked with four team members including the general director, commercial director, and a couple of account managers.
How did you come to work with Estudio Contar?
We had bids with two agencies. We became aware of Estudio Contar because they’ve worked with one of my colleagues at their previous job. This colleague recommended their services.
Ultimately, Estudio Contar was the best agency in terms of scope and the information we wanted to get. They presented the best offer with all the information; it was even more than what we were expecting.

We invested $800,000 Mexican pesos (approximately $39,000 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
Our engagement was from August 2020–January 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
This project is typically a marketing job rather than merchandising. At this time, I was in charge of that so my knowledge of what and how to ask was very limited. Estudio Contar was generous about providing me a bigger scope than what I briefed and pitched at our first meeting. They understood what I wanted when I gave general ideas and gave me many ways to reach this result.
We received so much information — both quantitative and qualitative. This was so important for us in terms of the success that we can have in the future. They covered many aspects and areas of our company from product to marketing to visual merchandising and brand environment. The report talked about how to improve our promotions and presentation on the sales floor. They presented all of this research from their questionnaires and detailed observations.
The deliverables helped us a lot to understand and improve our sales. We now know the type of consumer that is buying our product and how we can reach them. Once we presented that information to the stakeholders, they took some learnings and insights for their own departments and then made some action plans.
How did Estudio Contar perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated very often. Because of timing, we needed to accelerate and start working on this project quickly. We had meetings every 2–3 days to make sure all the information was communicated. They successfully supplemented their own studies with our information.
Our communication channels were always open. Their team was receptive to what we wanted and suggested. They were willing to discuss everything and suggest other types of work.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their willingness to make all our changes and suggestions as we were going through the project. The information they provided was very comprehensive and clear. There were no redundancies; it was very useful for many areas, not just marketing. They delivered exactly what we wanted. Their team gave us honest feedback about our company and brand that will allow us to grow.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, they’re very professional.

Have a conversation with them to help them understand your needs. If you have any specific ideas, share it with them and they’ll give you the full picture. Be honest and open, and they’ll achieve what you want to accomplish.

We tender the studies between several agencies and we select the provider based on the methodology used to solve the request and service, delivery time, and price.

We carried out the briefs with each requirement. We had a meeting with the agency to explain the requirement in detail. They obtained additional information, determined an action plan, presented us with a proposal, delivery times, and proceeded to the execution. Something very valuable about Contar studies is the follow-up, every week we received an email informing the progress of the project.

The entire team is involved in different processes of the project, they add their multidisciplinary team to contribute in the best way to the project.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Each year that we carried out the studies we obtained growth, a great differentiator of Estudios Contar is that when the reports are delivered they always include very specific improvement proposals, that is, they not only give results, they leave your options to resolve the identified conflicts, their proposals they have always given us growth.

Excellent, weekly follow-up, face-to-face sessions to deliver results, and the team are very enthusiastic, they become part of the company and get involved to give a great result.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
That it is a very dynamic, innovative team, they are constantly updating, they truly soak up the company they are serving to the degree of a direct collaborator, this allows them to provide better proposals and results.

It would be incredible if they shared a newsletter with the agency's research that provides us with valuable general market information on our industry.
