The Client is an experienced player and leader in the construction industry. The client was looking for a system which can streamline, automate and efficiently to carry out the business which helps them to expand and grow. We understood the problem in depth and develop web and mobile solutions for them which automated site inspection, digitally sign the report, email them to clients to have transparency, it empowered managers and site supervisors, reduced time drastically and improved their time spending in productive jobs.
The client offers quality home staging services. The CEO wanted a web application to manage his clients, partners (who are realtors) and the properties that they stage, to help their clients sell them faster. He wanted his engineers to be able to record all the actions needed to stage different rooms in the various levels/floors of a house, when on site.
Mainly, he wanted the application to automatically generate a proposal for his clients, which gives them an introduction about his company, showcase his recent works and a detailed overview of the actions to be taken & costs involved for staging their house. He also wanted to configure the prices for items that he rented out for staging, the prices for delivery (based on the distance and the type of property) and the taxes based on the state where the property resided. He finally wanted to convert this into a SAAS application which could be used by all staging companies across USA.

The team completed the changes and customization to the website to make it more e-commerce and SEO friendly. They also successfully created the mobile app. Communications could have been improved with more engagement, especially in the discovery stage.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
PrincenPrincess is an e-commerce company. We sell traditional brands of Indian ware, and we also manufacture some others too.
What challenge were you trying to address with Equator?
We initially built a website that had a lot of issues, and we wanted to build the site up again. We also needed an app developed.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The website is built around the PHP. We were looking for additional enhancements for the website. We needed it customized to our needs. They added a lot of e-commerce requirements mainly on the shipping details and on other products, and they made it SEO friendly. There were many functions we wanted added.
One other important thing that they did was a mobile Android app.
What is the team composition?
I’m in contact with 1 director and 1 project manager. I’m not in contact with any other team members. Any problems I have are pointed to those 2 people.
How did you come to work with Equator?
I was looking for a local software developer that I could go and talk to in person. I got to know a lot about Equator through other websites.
How much have you invested with them?
Around 2.5–3.5 lakhs or .25–.35 million rupees.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from December 2016 until August 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The work was not perfect, but very good. The communication was good, but could have been better. The collection of detailed specs from us was good, but not great.
How did Equator perform from a project management standpoint?
The communication was good, but not excellent. There was a lot of room for improvements, issues that could have gone differently had they engaged more with their client to get it done. They got in touch with us, got the problems fixed correctly, and estimated the budget well. We communicated mainly through email and phone conversations. We had a monthly discussion.
What did you find most impressive about them?
There’s nothing specific that stands out as unique.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There should be more engagement or decision of the client in order to get what they want. If the customer is not clear, they should suggest or give advice on what can be done.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Communicate the project specs clearly. It’s not possible to be 100% clear because it’s an ongoing process, but start writing down ideas about your needs.
