I'm the general manager of Al-Mashaan Security Systems. We’re a security systems company for retail stores.

What challenge were you trying to address with Engineer Master?

We had a mobile app that was built by another company. After they completed the app, we wanted a more affordable development team to maintain and add features to it. Hence, we hired Engineer Master.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Engineer Master helped us maintain our mobile app and implemented new features to it. They used React Native for the frontend and Node.js for the backend.

The app is available for both iOS and Android devices.

We were in touch with one developer from their team.

How did you come to work with Engineer Master?

I found them on Clutch. We hired them because they were affordable, which was what we were looking for.

What is the status of the engagement?

We worked together on this project from January 2020–February 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were happy with Engineer Master’s work. They were quick to fix any bugs that came up along the way. As a result, our app continues to function properly.

How did Engineer Master perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very reliable, responsive, and consistent; whenever we needed them to create a feature, they would do it. Moreover, their team worked within our budget and delivered most tasks on time. They were also very good with communication. We interact through Slack and WhatsApp.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We really loved their consistency.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have no complaints about Engineer Master’s work. They did a great job overall.

Euro Access is a software house mainly developing web and mobile apps. Our London headquarters was started in 2010, but the original company has been in operation for 16 years. I am the major shareholder with 50% of the London company and act as the CTO. Anything related to IT passes by my desk.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I initially used a single developer and started delegating tasks to more members of Engineer Master’s team. We started with a single, large project, but I have since given them tasks around smaller projects.The main project was an on-demand dry-cleaning platform for the London market. It featured two hybrid apps, and the team started development with the business-to-consumer app. I had an internal team for the web services, but Engineer Master provided iOS and Android development using the Ionic framework, as well as HTML5, CSS and JavaScript development, including graphic design. They had a separate team preparing all the PSD designs. Different versions of the product were pushed for testing. After a few months, we also created a business-to-business version, which served as a back-office for dry-cleaners to manage their order statuses.

What is the team dynamic?

The maximum capacity we had was 3 people, including my main contact. We had another contact in charge of the main UI scripting, as well as one for business items. We had strict deadlines and a very long backlog, so there wasn’t enough time for standup meetings. I simply wanted to delegate tasks. They delivered work every 2 weeks, which we tested.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost of the first project was above $12,000, including bonuses for on-time delivery and other tasks. The money was held in escrow until we reviewed the work, and paid on a monthly basis.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Engineer Master in May 2015. We worked on the initial project for almost 12 months. I would certainly use them again for certain technologies and projects.

On November 2015, we were invited as an alpha startup to a summit, and, in the same month, we won an award for the best lifestyle mobile app at the Mobile App Awards. Engineer Master did the main mobile app development, even though we had a separate design team.

How did Engineer Master perform from a project management standpoint?

They have good communication, very fast delivery, and generally good quality, based on our internal backend processes. They always delivered on time, and the price was fair.

We used the Atlassian stack, including JIRA for task allocation, Confluence for documentation, Bitbucket for versioning and HipChat for instant messaging. We had other, more specific tools for development, but the ones mentioned were the core platforms we used constantly for prioritizing the task backlog, documentation and versioning.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciated the honesty, transparency, and hard work shown by their team. I have had partners try to rip me off in the past. Engineer Master was never greedy. They are realistic and highly committed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They need to work on improving the unit testing and quality assurance process. There has been progress, but it needs to be accelerated. They also need to specialize in something. Other companies try to offer as many services as possible, but it’s important to focus on the most popular technologies. I am judgmental, but it needs to be taken into consideration that I’ve been in the industry forever, and have managed projects of more than £5 million.

I am the owner of Hoopoex.com, where we are providing SaaS based CapTable management software.

For what projects/services did your company hire Engineer Master, and what were your goals?

Engineer Master Helped us to build the robust application which I have launched and currently working on marketing part, but they helped me alot to build this software.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I found them on website called Upwork.com and I interviewed their CTO and then I decided to give them a chance to build a prototype or POC of my complex logic for the captable and after that I decided to give them a whole contract.

Its an end to end development for hoopoex.com for captable management in SaaS. they have suggested to use Laravel with MySql and Redis server deployed on Aws server.

I have worked with 8 members from the vendor team in which 2 UI/UX, 4 PHP Laravel Developer, 1 QA and 1 Project manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I am still struggling to get customers I have onboarded 20 customers in just 2months.

We were using MS Teams, outlook for communication and we are following Agile methodology as they arw suggested.

I love their commitment and deliveriables.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Yeah, offcourse they have to improve on UI/UX side where I have to struggle with the team.
