Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CTO of Freightwalla Inc., and we’re a digital freight forwarder that helps businesses with their international logistics movements.

What challenge were you trying to address with Emnicent Designs?

As our company and platform grew, we recruited the services of Emnicent Designs for web design as well as platform design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have an ongoing engagement with Emnicent Designs on large feature developments for our app. We provide our customers a mobile app where they can log in, track, manage, and get reports on their shipments. They’re also involved with the full interaction and visual design of the platform.

Whenever we need to build something out, we give them the brief for the feature we want and they’ll come back to us with wireframes and flows. They flesh out all the requirements and then we iterate them all the way to the final designs. Additionally, they run usability studies for us, as well as market research.

What is the team composition?

I work with Upasna and Aneez (Co-Founders).

How did you come to work with Emnicent Designs?

We engaged with Emnicent Designs after finding their website. What we liked about them was they were really thoughtful about the framework that they used for evaluating design decisions — they had a principled approach to the design where they tried to understand the actual needs of the business or the customers.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve probably spent upwards of $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The ongoing partnership started in January 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

What I appreciate about them is their turnaround times are generally very solid and reliable — they always meet the deadlines they give. Their impact has also been very positive, as the users of our platform give us the big thumbs up on the UX. Our platform is easier to use compared to our competitors, and we definitely stand out on the usability aspect.

How did Emnicent Designs perform from a project management standpoint?

It’s been excellent, as their approach to project management is the main reason we keep going back to them. Not only do they do good and interesting work for us, but their communication, deadlines, and flexibility are great.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their disciplined approach to the design.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t really have any feedback, but if I can have them on-site all the time, that would be great. Obviously, that’s not an option, but they’ve done such a good job that I rely on them for all of our design needs.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would advise them to be clear with their goals. They’re great working with ambiguity, but just be clear on what you want to accomplish.
