 Carrefour approached us to re-think the UX and UI. We merged the double menu into one, sliding from the bottom. This approach made a better experience when using the phone with one hand. We took into

account that during shopping, people can have their other hand occupied by pushing a shopping cart or carrying a basket. We proposed a lot of features which might enhance the shopping experience.

Dig assistant is an application addressed to excavator operators who expect a precise and high quality of their work. It helps operators to save time and reduce human error on

the construction site. 

A goal

The main goal was to visualize the effects of the excavator's work equipped with sensors synchronized with the application and to support the excavator operator in the implementation of the jobs delegated to him. 

How does it work?

The operator starts his work by loading a file with the task, selects the place where he begins work, calibrates the sensors of the device, and then proceeds to dig following the guidelines on the screen.

The watch is made for very active people. The device is managed only by buttons on the band, water-resistant, ready for work at low temperatures. Bluetooth technology is used to pair with a phone. The screen

is black and white, using 16 shades of white, thus consuming a minimal amount of energy to illuminate.

Regarding our internal Startup, the main goal was to go to the market as soon as possible to verify our idea. EFEKT listened to our concept and helped us to take it to the next level. We knew that scaling requires money. After the successful launch of the product, we were able to receive the investment to develop this product further.

We know each other from our local network. In 2016 we were creating our first venture as Neoteric’s spin-off, and it was an excellent opportunity to try out EFEKT.

EFEKT is more like a boutique UX/UI agency working on a few projects at the same time. We worked mainly with Simon&David ( partners in EFEKT) and other designers from the team.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

From the perspective of Software house, UX/UI resources are super necessary for having a successful digital product. This phase of design helps:

  •  understand requirements better and transform user stories into designs.
  • solve any roadblocks during the design stage
  • prototype & test solutions with users without a line of code
  • for a customer to know how his product will look like
  • reduce the time of development by having accepted designs
  • create visually appealing products

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used Slack for written communication, Google Hangout for video-calls. On each sprint planning, we have been discussing backlog and any possible obstacles. In some projects, we used Trello or Taiga for managing user stores. EFEKT was very active, helping us to deliver everything on time and within a budget.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I would say knowledge of the product development process and the ability to quickly understand what the business goal behind the product is. It’s not only about beautiful images, rather than a solid understanding of end-users ( their challenges, expectations, and frustrations) and aligning with our development team. They are proactive and eager to integrate with our team.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Honestly, I don't want them to change anything.

We have prepared some initial mobile wireframes in a mock up tool to explain our scope better, but at the end of the day, we expected to re-think from an external standpoint the UX approach and Design User Interface or web and mobile platform.

Our main goal was to create a user-friendly tool for purchasing insurance. On the other hand, we wanted to make sure that the design team will be aligned with our development in terms of feasibility, assets, and specific solutions.

How did you select this vendor?

I found their team on Clutch. We had an interview via video-conference when we could discuss the project, expectations, and share an initial scope of the project. Simon ( partner in EFEKT) walked us through their processes, tools, and portfolio. After receiving a quote, we decided to go with them.

We have already defined the features of our product, so I guess it was more comfortable for EFEKT to start from this point. However, we needed the UX/UI expert to validate our ideas and transform them into the interfaces which faced our expectations.

What was the team composition?

Our primary touch point was Simon, partner in EFEKT. He was responsible for communication and managing the project. As far as I know, there was also one UX/UI designer and one designer who was creating assets like icons & graphics.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are in the middle of the development & testing phase. Our team is delighted with the outcome and having ready UX/UI allows us to create technical documentation. Our development team is much more efficient because a lot of issues have been solved upfront on UX/UI design phase.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The process was pretty good. We appreciate instant communcation tools EFEKT is using, such as Slack, and work progress sharing tools they are using, that was fitting well our own organisation that is distributed on several countries. They managed to finish a project in the budget, so we were delighted to get our work on time and without any additional costs.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Rather than blindly executing what we told them, they suggested some improvements in our initial thinking. We had solid communication through our Slack channel, so everyone in the project was aligned. When EFEKT identified possible roadblocks, they asked us early so we could figure those issues out.

Many things have been produced by EFEKT and sometimes we could have the feeling to be lost in the various versions.

The main goal was to review& re-design an existing solution. We were building a new version of the application, so it was a great moment to conduct a bit of research on how we could improve user experience and a visual layer of the app.

Some time ago, EFEKT approached us as UX/UI support for tech companies. They have a strong understanding of building digital products and working with developers. Their portfolio and past testimonials led us to have a more in-depth conversation. We got along well and had a similar workflow& communication approach.

We started with gathering requirements of features which were in the scope of releasing a new version. EFEKT made a review of the existing solution, and they have created the first version of wireframes that we could show to our customer.

Once we gathered feedback, we could start doing User Interface. EFEKT showed us a mood board, and we agreed on the design direction. Afterward, they delivered all assets for our development team.

What was the team composition?

We primarily worked with a senior designer and one project manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I don’t have any metrics because we are still in the middle of implementation for our customer, but the quality of the work was excellent. Our customer was delighted with the outcome and communication. They were able to take the requirements that we gave them—and create a system that works.

As a Project manager, I was pleased with how this project was running. We were in very close communication via Slack and zoom. We had frequent updates about things that have been done and upcoming tasks to resolve.

During demo sprints, we had a video-call with our customer to present a demo of the design. We were discussing challenges and gathering feedback. Communication was in fluent English.

We needed a partner to lead the UX/UI stage of building the platform. We had internal development resources, but the information architecture, user flows, interface design were things that had to be made.

What were your goals for this project?

The design had to be appealing to our market segment, which is mostly fashion brands and influencers. We are trying to combine influencers, buyers, and brands into one ecosystem. The project required a lot of research and thinking of how we could motivate people to be present and come back to the platform.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I met Simon (partner in EFEKT) on the conference. I vetted EFEKT and thought they were a good fit to be a design partner for our needs.

Describe the project in detail.

We transferred our desired features into a low-fidelity mindmap. We knew that it wasn't detailed, so we were happy that at the beginning, EFEKT worked about general user flow without paying attention to the UI. In a quite short amount of time, we managed to have clear vision across all stakeholders what we are trying to build.

After we gave them feedback, they built wireframes (starting from mobile-first approach), and after accepted UX, they came up with a solidly consistent "look and feel" for us. In the end, we got all exported assets and project to inspect via Invision Inspect

What was the team composition?

We worked with one administrative person and two designers from EFEKT.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our internal team is happy with the outcome. What is the most important EFEKT managed to solve a lot of doubt across our internal team. We weren't exactly sure about the final features, but they helped us to make it right. The apps' professional design also helps us when pitching to new clients.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They're always reachable if we have an issue or questions. After some significant milestones, we met at EFEKT's HQ, so we could present a demo and discuss the project. Daily communication we kept via Slack.

Each Monday, EFEKT obliged to create certain tasks so we could track the progress at the end of the sprint. Designs were presented via Invision, so we had straightforward access to give our feedback and check any changes.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They're very flexible and invested in our success. What I admired most that EFEKT is not only a group of designers but people who have a solid understanding of business, MPVs, lean methodology, testing, and marketing.

We had some initial workshops with our customer where we outlined some major features, we were able to start working on some of the back-end but still, we have a load of doubts regarding user flow and UX in general. Our main goal was to have all mobile&web screens accepted&ready to develop. We had a whole roadmap of the product, so we needed designs to squiz into the timeline.

EFEKT has a good reputation in our local market. We chose them because of their vast expertise in design, the track record of successful projects, and their perfect understanding of working with Software companies.

We were approached by a company with a vision to create a search engine gathering thousands of brands from all around the world. He started working with some UX but he was really disappointed with the outcome and pace. He asked us if we can help with Product Design as well. We arranged a meeting with Simon ( partner in EFEKT) and we felt that they knew what we were trying to accomplish more than anyone else. As I mentioned we had some roadmap and user stories in a backlog. EFEKT helped us to transfer them into wireframes, build a clickable prototype and then design a whole interface even with icons or motion design. Our front-end developer worked closely with designers to make sure that we have implemented everything pixel perfect.

What was the team composition?

In the team, there were 3 designers and Project Manager. The engagement was roughly for 4 months.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Their designs and overall site generated positive reactions. What we know our client managed to build B2B partnerships with well-known fashion brands once they have seen the site. Since the launch of the e-commerce, traffic is visible. We got to these results much faster and efficiently than we would’ve on our own thanks to their experience in designing digital products.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our scope has been changing constantly, but EFEKT has been flexible and patient The communication has been great. Designers we worked with have always been available for our questions. At each planning, we agreed on user stories that we want to cover in certain sprint. At the end of the sprint we had an internal demo when we presented the outcome to our customer. Our communication was mostly by Slack and they were using Invision to present designs and get feedback.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was extremely happy that we chose EFEKT and our customer was absolutely satisfied with the results. They were very professional and flexible, adapting solutions to handle technical challenges on our development side.

We wanted to create a solution for owners of energy-efficient smart homes. We trusted in EFEKT to build outstanding user experience and user interface experience.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed a team to support us in defining our requirements, screens, architecture, designs, workflows, and other elements related to developing our solution. Our goal was to enter the market quickly with our MVP. I believe the main goal was to help us put our ideas in order. We had loads of features and we didn’t know how to put everything in one piece, not mentioning having good usability.

How did you select this vendor?

We were recommended Efekt by common partners. We knew that we would need to have a native mobile application and desktop solution. We got a recommendation from our partner that it’ worth considering EFEKT to take care of this Product Design stage. We had an initial meeting when we discussed the idea. I have been very impressed with their work. They roughly estimated the budget and we started to cooperate.

Describe the project in detail.

Our idea was to create a possibility to connect many branded devices into one HUB, which connects controllers and devices with wired or wireless solutions like Zigbee, Z-Wave or Bluetooth at once. EFEKT was responsible for Web&Mobile design. It required a lot of User Research, the discovery of existing solutions and working a lot on combining all technical requirements into something user-friendly. We had ongoing meetings, demos, exchanging feedback. While the bulk of the project was complete, they continue to make minor updates as requested.

What was the team composition?

We worked directly with Simon- Partner in EFEKT and Przemek- Senior Product Designer. I know that apart from that there was a Visual Identity Designer and Motion Designer who helped with some animations.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We don’t have specific data about Revenue, Customers because we are still in the middle of the development phase. We shared Product Design with our internal team and in general, there was very positive feedback. We believe that adding to your company’s portfolio SmartHome solution will give us a visible edge in Swedish market.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

From time to time we had a face-to-face meeting but mostly our every week our Project Manager set the scope for upcoming sprints. EFEKT invited us to their Slack so it helped a lot in terms of exchanging information. Designs were presented in Invision which was great to understand better how it’s gonna look. at the end.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The team at EFEKT was knowledgeable, dedicated, and committed to success. They felt like part of our team. I’m aware that this project was sophisticated in terms of technical requirements and sometimes scope has been changing but EFEKT was very flexible. Whenever we had to push more scope to the development team, they always delivered on time.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The designers in Efekt do insist on their design which sometimes leads to discussions. I do believe these discussions lead to a better end result where we could combine everyone's ideas and thoroughly work on the designs.

That’s why we emphasized that UX/UI stage is crucial. Clickable prototype and the accepted interface was essential for us.

I asked for a referral from people in the IT industry. EFEKT has been recommended as a company that understands creating digital products and works constantly as UX/UI partner for Tech companies. We met with Simon (partner in EFEKT) and felt that he was someone we could have faith in.

EFEKT started the UX/UI design process with a proper understanding of technical requirements, user stories in the backlog and features which we were aiming to build. Then they build architecture information with a user flow which helped us to understand the whole project from a bird’s eye perspective.

After all of the requirements were established, they built interactive mockups and wireframes, which we later implemented in a Software phase. It was a really close collaboration between our customer and us.

What was the team composition?

We worked mainly with 2 guys from EFEKT.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I believe that the main impact of our collaboration was the fact that our customer was very satisfied with the outcome of a Product Design part that EFEKT took ownership of. I cannot share any specific numbers of this project due to NDA.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I was mainly responsible for a whole project, but we were all available on Slack and often EFEKT has been talking directly with our customer so it helped me a lot as well. Mutually each week we were discussing what is required.

From time to time we had face-to-face meetings. Projects were presented in Invision where we could track progress and resolve all issues regarding UX/UI. They were very accessible and responsive throughout the engagement.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They matched our expectations. We're very happy with their willingness to take the time to understand the product and technical requirements. What’s more the personal relationship with them was fantastic.

My main goal as a product owner was to fasten the process of delivering certain features that we had in a backlog. I’m aware that prototyping on the design phase is much quicker and cheaper so we were able to discuss new ideas with all stakeholders efficiently.

We were looking for UX/UI partner who might work for us. We interviewed a couple of agencies before narrowing the list to EFEKT. We have conducted first trial engagement and it all went smooth.

We are working together on different projects but what I could say about the process that at the very first EFEKT is trying to understand main goal of the product to make sure that the team is aligned with each other. We are usually spending some time gathering requirements and then EFEKT works on user flows, creating wireframes and going through various iterations of visual design. The last stage is handing over all deliverables for our in-house development team and being in touch if anything needs to be explained for our dev. team.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As mentioned above, we work on various projects so it’s kind of hard to outline particular outcomes but in general, definitely speed of implementing new features increased. Awareness of design in our organization has raised as well. I believe we think more about users.

They're very responsive and proactive. I really like that they’ll push back when they really feel something will improve the user experience. They always met our deadlines which was very important for me as a Product Owner. We used Invision to deliver our feedback and check progress of work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have a very solid design team. They came up with some interesting design angles and had some very creative flows. They work with a lot of different clients from various markets, so they take the best of best practices from different places in order to see how they can apply them to a new domain. That was clearly visible when we have done one completely new project with geo-localization employees by GPS.

I didn’t have any issues with them. It’s great to have a design company that’s engaged.

We started with with kick-off meeting where all team members of both parts met and we settled our main goals and vision. Later EFEKT explained the design process and we had workshop which helped us to understand what are we trying to build. We were brainstorming all features of the mobile application and prioritized them into what is most important for version 1.0. Once we have done that, we received wireframes which were foundation of our digital product. We could use a clickable prototype without a line of code to get a feeling of user flow. Later on, we successfully went through User interface phase where we exactly knew how our product gonna looks like.
