JKL Technologies is a technology product startup developing SaaS [software as a service] products and mobile games. A(P)ertain, one of our SaaS products, focuses on providing mobile app/game developers an SDK [software development kit] to add in-app rating prompts and feedback prompts for a particular mobile user. Vocabul Jumble our flagship mobile game is a Word Jumble puzzle game which uses a vast database of words to provide enjoyable jumble puzzles for the player.

Please describe your company.
We are an e-commerce technology company. We don’t sell stuff online, but we provide the technology to sell. We also have an online rent payment service that allows tenants to pay their rent online. That was the first product that we launched, and it was built by Dot Com Infoway.
What is your role and responsibilities?
I’m the founder and CEO.
What was your goal for working with Dot Com Infoway?
They built the product from the ground up. We didn’t have any engineering services of our own at the time, and we had to outsource it. We looked at their portfolio showing the companies they had helped, and that helped us make the decision to give the contract to them.
Please describe the scope of their work.
They did the engineering for us, they did the Web development and design, they did the software end of it, and they also did the certification part of it. So I would put it in design, engineering, and testing, three phases.
What was your process for selecting Dot Com Infoway with which to work?
I found them through a freelance website. We ran a couple of searches about different companies. We found them, and looked at the work they did for other companies. They built e-commerce websites for other companies, so we knew they would be able to accomplish this for us.
Can you provide a ballpark dollar figure for the size of the work that they’ve done for you?
[Between] $16,000 to $20,000.
When did you start working with them?
Project started around November of 2012, and ended around February of 2013, so four months.
Do you have any feedback you can share with us from the project?
I would say it was very positive. We had some small minor changes that we had to make, which we told them to do it for us and they complied. When you build a product from the ground up, a lot of creativity is required. Overall we had a positive experience.
How well do you think Dot Com Infoway performed?
I would say very good.
Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other companies?
Our project was a little more complex than typical projects for some of the companies that we spoke to. We send companies a basic guideline of the projects you want to build, and they send back a feedback saying whether they can accomplish it. With Dot Com Infoway, they basically said they could do it, so that itself is a positive sign. Their strength is their engineering team and how they worked together. We had some challenges along the way, and they were able to overcome them.

I run a startup digital-based spirituality and lifestyle magazine available on Apple Newsstand.
My role as editor is to ensure that the magazine runs smoothly, looks good, and that all marketing aspects are researched and conducted properly.

We had a big challenge with user acquisition when we introduced our first mobile game. We had quite a few challenges with mobile app marketing.
The target market was parents with kids between the ages of 5 and 15 and young children who could download the game themselves. We also have some adults play the games who are nostalgic for the games from their childhoods.
We needed to achieve a user acquisition target of around 1,000 users per day to scale our operations to 100,000 total installs within a three-month time period.
We added an install tracker SDK and started marketing and advertising on the Dot Com Infoway network for user acquisition. Our key selection criteria were valuable users acquired through trackable and cost-effective means. Dot Com Infoway made the job easier with their presence in the network and the reach they helped us achieve.
They had a wonderful performance with great attention to detail and prompt responses to issues. We had a great team backing us up on our campaigns and were able to make changes quickly based on user feedback. Could you give a general overview of the work they did for your company?
As far as the work they directly do on our behalf, we used them for a lot of SEO stuff. We really enjoyed getting to No. 1 in our market. It certainly doesn’t hurt us any but, on top of that, we were so impressed with the work that they did for SEO. We actually make them my SEO provider now for my clients.
How long have you been working with them?
I’d say probably about a year and a half now at least.
What was the reason you originally turned to them?
We’re doing our own SEO to a certain degree, but it just wasn’t working. So, we thought it’s time to try something new, and I feel really spoiled that we found them right out of the gate.
Do you remember how you found them?
Yes. I think they were doing some work for another guy who we met out of the Bay Area, and they were doing some website development. It was a large custom application. Then, we found out how large DCI actually was, and that they did have multiple areas. We asked them about SEO, so they put us in touch with the right people, and we got it off and running.
What would you say is the general cost range for the work they do for you?
I’m probably paying them about $50,000 a year right now just for some work that I’m having them do. I don’t know on average what their cost range would be for most Web development projects. I haven’t done a lot of Web development with them. I’ve done some mobile apps through them, and they’re usually less than $6,000 for a lot of what we ask them to do.
The mobile apps are mostly for your clients you’re working with?
They were initially because we’re ramping up our own team. We tried with them initially, and it needs to be something unique. It’s a platform we don’t operate in. DCI was a go-to for that, but we must save our own mobile app team at this point where we just experimented with DCI.
That $50,000 a year, is that for the SEO for your company, and for you and your clients combined?
Most of that is for my company, but some of that is the clients.
Do you have any specific results that you might be able to share of how well they’ve done?
Yes. For us, we’re usually in the top three in our market. Top three positions for most every term that we want. For the clients, they can usually get them up to No. 1 or No. 2 within 60 days. So, it’s really powerful and fast SEO.
Is there anything that you find unique or special compared to other development firms you’ve worked with?
One of the things I really like about them is their follow-up skills because I’m not always the best to getting back to them in a timely manner. So, I love the reminders. I love knowing that someone’s on top of it. I don’t have to chase them – they chase me, which is fantastic. Just try finding development firms that do that really well. Just try finding development firms that do that really well.
Do you think there’s anything they could improve a bit or do slightly different?
In my perfect world, I think it’d be wonderful if the writing was a little bit better as far as just English content, but the problem there is we’re native English speakers and a lot of the writers are in India, so even though it’s the official language, there’s always going to be that little bit of a different, right? It’s my perfect world scenario, but it’s my responsibility to screen everything and filter it out. A key of mine also is I don’t like a lot of writing that Americans do either, so I’m pretty biased.
It sounds like too you’d recommend them to other people, and that you’re going to keep using them?
Yes. The way I recommend them, though, is I provide the SEO and everyone’s doing the work behind the scenes, they white label it for me. If I didn’t like them, I wouldn’t use them. They’re fantastic.

Attending healthcare providers would immediately be informed if a patient needs attendance (if, for example, his temperature exceeds 100 degrees) through colour codes. It also keeps track of our inventory of prescription by providing real-time updates not only in dosage but the course’s duration as well.
We were given complete control over user access of patient records, and DCI ensured the best kind of security by deploying the Laravel framework.
